    Hi
For some time I have not been able to update itunes as it cannot find the file in windows\installer\msi
Why can't I just be able to down load a new version without it looking for this file?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    thanks

    Hmmm.
I'd like to have a closer look at that error message please.
Generate the error message again. While the error message box is open, hold down the Alt key and hit the PrtSc key. Paste the screenshot into an image file (using a program like Paint), and save the file.
Start a reply here and click the wee camera icon at the top of the reply window. Click "Choose file", browse to the image file, select the file and click "Open". Now click "Insert file" to insert the screenshot into the reply.

  • I have problem with syncing in itunes and it stared since i installed new version of itunes.it stuck in backup step for houres.what shud i do?

I have problem with syncing in itunes and it stared since i installed new version of itunes.it stuck in backup step for houres.what shud i do?

So, in iTunes, when you look at the shuffle's content (in the sidebar) and click on the playlist under the shuffle, over to the right, the songs are in your desired order, correct?  Where do you look, or what do you do, that indicates the playlists are in alphabetical order?  Are you saying that when you play the songs while using the shuffle, they play in alphabetical order?
If so, when you listen to the songs on the shuffle, are you using the playlist, or are you using the All Songs list? If you are in the default All Songs list, with the shuffle's power switch set to play-in-order (the middle position), the songs play alphabetically, I believe.
The 3rd gen shuffle uses VoiceOver.  If you are in the All Songs list, you need to use VoiceOver to switch to the playlist (see manual linked below for details).  When you are in the playlist (with the shuffle's power switch set to play-in-order), then the songs should play in playlist order.
There are more details in the manual for the 3rd gen shuffle, which is online here
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_shuffle_3rdGen_UG.pdf
See page 22 for the section about setting up and using VoiceOver.  The part about switching playlists starts on page 23 (Using the Playlist Menu).

  • Can't install new version of itunes or quicktime

Like others, I get the error message Apple Application Support needed to run itunes Helper. Uninstall itunes then instal again. I have repeatedly tried to instal new version of itunes having uninstalled (following troubleshooting page) the old version. I also get the Microsoft windows message Windows installer stopped working and was closed. When I try to install Quick Time on its own I get the message "An error occurred during the installation of assembly Microsoft VC.80,CRT.... What can I do?

In general, these ones tend to be caused by underlying problems on the PC that can prevent Windows Updates from installing. So my main strategy with them is to try to fix the Windows Update issues. If we can get Windows Updates flowing again, that generally clears up the iTunes install errors +en passant.+
Head into your Windows Update, and check for any new updates. Do any fail? If so, open your Update History and doubleclick on the failure entries to bring up a small box with alphanumeric error message codes. Are you getting 8000FFFFs? (They often seem to be associated with an iTunes-install 0x800736FD.)
If you're getting 8000FFFFs, try the following Microsoft document:
    [Windows Update Error 8000FFFF|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-Error- 8000FFFF]
Head back to Windows Update, and stock up on any updates you're behind on. Once you're completely up to date in that regard, try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Try this for Windows 7 (64 bit),
Close iTunes - Go to Task Manager – Click the “Services” tab - select “Apple Mobile Device” - left click and choose “Stop Service” - wait a few seconds - left click and choose “Start Service” - wait a few seconds - open iTunes - connect your iDevice.
    Did it work?

  • Error message -50 ever since I installed new version of iTunes... weird!

A few days ago I installed the new/updated version of iTunes from the 'automatic prompt' which informed me there was a newer version of the software available.
Now, ever since I've been using iTunes upon start-up I get this weird thing happening:
    1- ITunes opens, no problem
2- Progress bar appears on screen saying "Updating iTunes library" (which never happened before I installed the new version on iTunes)
3- An Error message appears saying "the iTunes Library files cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-50). Do not warn me again"
Well, my iPod seems to be sync-ing fine and I've not lost any music, so I'm confused as to what this error message actually means.
If anyone can shed any light on this or what I've done wrong I would be most grateful.
I don't fancy losing all my podcasts and music! Ouch...
    Thanks!

I would check macfixit.com . there are several articles about fixing the -50 error. The latest article is free, the others require a subscription. This is from their very helpful site:
Another option for recreating the library to resolve -50 errors We previously reported that a full library deletion and restore may be required to eliminate -50 errors that occur while iTunes 7.3 is launching. The process we mentioned involves backing up the music library to another location, then deleting the original library and finally re-importing. However, you can also simply backup then create a new library at launch and re-import, as follows:
    1. Quit iTunes
    2. Backup your iTunes library (the folder ~/Music/iTunes) to a separate location (can be on the same volume)
    3. Launch iTunes while holding down the option key and follow the steps to create a new library
    4. In iTunes, choose Import from the FIle menu
    5. Select the backed up ~/Music/iTunes as a source folder
    6. Restore any deleted preferences

  • Unable to Install New version of iTunes due to Bonjour.

Okay, I was trying to install the new version of iTunes for my ipod nano w/camera i just bought. While i was downloading, i had to download a newer version of Bonjour. When i tried to it said " Older version of Bonjour cannot be removed." I have heard that some people have had the same problem. How do i fix this?
P.S. I tried the Windows Installer thing, and it said something like 'Access denied' and i was unable to download it.

By the way, i know someone already started a thread on something like this. But it has not worked for me.

  • Problem with multiple XP accounts since installing new version of iTunes/QT

I am running XP Pro. A year or so ago, I went through the "disaster" recovery of installing the new version of iTunes (5.0) along with its nasty QT upgrade that was not ready for prime time. After much thrashing, I got my computer back to iTunes 4.9.0.xx and an older version of QT.
My son just bought a shuffle this week and so we thought it would now be safe to get the latest version of iTunes/QT on our machine. Boy, were we wrong.
We loaded, logged into my account, iTunes 6.0.4 and QT 7.1.0. iTunes comes up in my account and it recognizes my mini still.
However, iTunes will no longer run in my wife's account (she has a mini and has had it longer than my mini) and will not work in my son's account for his shuffle. It brings up the error dialog about QT not working.
My wife went to her account and just tried starting QT and it gave an error saying it was not installed properly.
I would have expected the installation in one account to work for all accounts given where it is installed.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    hiya!
even though you're not getting a #6344x in the affected accounts, this is still looking consistent with a registry permissions issue on the PC. (1402s have been known to be associated with the "stops working in all-but-one pre-existing account after an upgrade" issue before.)
the stejskal family pioneered the treatment for us:
the trick for me was getting up the nerve to "fiddle" with the registry...the reason why the girls could not get access to iTunes/QT was down to permission...once I got one going I went back in to HKEY-MACHINE\SOFTWARE\apple computer, inc\Quicktime...click to highlight go to edit, permission and added the missing girls to the list of who is allowed...made sure they have full permission..apply, ok and "bobs your uncle" all is now well in stejskal home.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=810602&#810602
so check to see if those user accounts that are crashing for you have the right permissions on those keys.
    keep us posted.
    love, b

  • Installing newer version of iTunes

    Hello,
I currently have iTunes 4.9 installed on my computer that works fine with my iPod mini.
However, I recently got an iPod shuffle that will not run with that version and requires me to run iTunes 5.0 or higher.
Installing the newer version of iTunes from the CD prompts me to first uninstall my older version of iTunes and then install the newer version on the CD.
Will uninstalling and re-installing cause me to loose the songs my music library? If not, will I have to re-import all of my songs into the newer version of iTunes?
Is iTunes 5.0 compatible with my iPod mini as well?
    Thanks,
    -Christy

Default settings for iTunes store your music in a folder found at C:\Documents and Settings\user name\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music - far away from the iTunes program itself which is found at C:\Program Files\iTunes. So installing a new version of iTunes shouldn't be a problem. I've upgraded several times and not had any troubles.
    But ...
the funny things about computers is that they have been known to do some not so funny things, like unexpectedly losing data for example.
That's why it's always a good idea to back up your iTunes library under any circumstances.
Many people come to the Discussions having lost their music in a variety of situations and, believe me, it's not a happy time for anyone.
If you place any importance on your playlists and the data they depend on, you will want to include your iTunes Library files in your back-up regimen as well.
    Always remember:
Your music is valuable - please back it up!
P.S. Apple is actually up to iTunes 6.0.4 now and I'd recommend you download that version and install it on your computer. It's not even necessary to uninstall the earlier version, iTunes will be updated automatically.
And yes, it will be compatible with your mini.
