Cannot install office 2008, newer version message but no version installed!

I just bought this macbook pro used in addition to my macbook pro already owned. I try to install office 2008 that i still have one product key available. But the office wont install because of the newer version message, the thng is THERE IS NO OTHER VERSION OF OFFICE!
One more thing, i istall it using disk shaing with my mcbook pro 13 since this MPB 15 has a not working superdrive

try copying that install files in a usb thumb drive and install from there - the installer might be looking at your other macbook that has office already installed when you run the installer via disk sharing...

iOS 5 handles texts differently than previous versions. Resetting the network connections helps, but that didn't seem to solve your problem, and neitherdid the simple reset.
Try deleting old messages from the messages app, then after clearing up a lot, just do a simple restart of your phone. If you want to be extra sure, try resetting your network connections again. I had this same problem. Your last option would be a complete restore of the phone, but I don't think we'll have to go that far.

You shouldn't have a problem, I am running 2008 and all my data from 2004 carried over. Office 2011 will also run on 10.7.

ITunes will NOT open from shortcut, cannot be updated to newer versions!

So I haven't changed computers and I'm pretty sure I hadn't uploaded a new version of iTunes when this happened, but...
One day it just wouldn't open from the shortcuts (like on the desktop and the start bar). It took me forever to realize it still opens when I go directly to its source and click on it, but it still gives me this box:

If I click Retry, it just keeps opening the same window over and over. So then I click Cancel and get:

And if I try to install updates, I end up INSTALLING all of it but at the very end I get:

Thank you to Polydorus! I was disheartened to see that the person posting the question wasn't getting results, but I thought I'd try the first round of easy suggestions provided by Polydorus.
1. I did a disk check (see right-click c drive, etc.). this found no problems, so no solution
2. I did the following: "The try a repair install of iTunes. (Find iTunes in Add/Remove programs and select change>>repair.)" This did it's magic! the warning which included "...If you want itunes to be able to retrieve CD information from the Internet, you need to reinstall it" no longer appears. I recommend anyone with this warning popping up each time you open itunes on a windows machine give this a try.

My daughter's iTunes library does not come up....God knows what she did. She claims innocence! The following error message displays "The file iTunes Library cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes". Can someone please give me an interpretation of this? Her old eMac is running on 10.4.11. My iTunes library on her computer works just fine. It's only her library.

Hello,I keep receiving the message that a new version is available, but after the download and the restart, the version is still 1.0.8.xxx and not1.0.9.133. I tried that several times, restarted Spotify but still it stays on 1.0.8.xxx. This is on a laptop with Windows 7 64-bit The same does not happen on my Surface Pro2 with Windows 8.1, where it worked fine

Try a clean reinstall to see if that fixes the problem.
First uninstall Spotify and then delete these folders if they exist:
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Spotify
and C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Spotify
After that reinstall Spotify. After a while you should see the update message appear at the top.
If you can't find the folder, try this:
Uninstall Spotify: Start > Control Panel > Programs / Uninstall a Program > Spotify
Find your AppData folder and delete all Spotify data.
Start, run, type: %appdata% and hit enter
You probably see 4 folders; enter each and see if they contain a folder called Spotify. Delete the entire Spotify folder.
Restart your computer at this point.

Microsoft Office 2008 - trying to reload but won't accept key codes

Hi everyone,
Bif of a comuter novice so I appreciate all help.
So, my MacBook Pro had a bit of a meltdown (kept turning itself off & finally refused to turn on at all) recently so I took it to the Genius Bar. They had to wipe it completely for a reset which meant losing Office 2008. After the restart the chap in the store loaded OS X Mavericks.
When I finally found my original Office 2008 disc I put it in & tried to enter the key codes on the back but it said they were all invalid. I've had a look on the website but can't find any pointers.
Can anyone take pity on this computer illiterate person & help me, please?

How do i get my contacts Back, i can see them when composing a new text message but not in my contact list?

A couple of days ago all the contacts on my phone were deleted, for some unknown reason (i think it was something to do with iCloud). When i look in my contact list, on my phone, i can not see any of my contacts. But when i go to compose a new text message (or email) i can see the name of the contacts and the number.
If i then click on one of them it just comes up as a number in the: to box.
If i try to sync my phone with my computer, which has the contacts on, and click replace contacts on phone (with icloud turned off) it just deletes all the contacts that are left (the ones i added since i lost them) and does not replace them.
I have tried syncing through Icloud, the computer, Yahoo, Hotmail, and gmail with no luck.
So my qustion is can i get my contacts back?

In iTunes, uncheck Sync contacts.
Sync the iPhone.
Then recheck Sync contacts and sync the iPhone.

I'm in the same boat. I just purchased my iPad a couple of days ago and when I tried to sync it with iTunes it told me I needed to upgrade to 4.3.3. I have satellite internet at home and when I tried to upload/download, my internet usage meter reached it's limit and it shut down after 5-10 minutes of download. I wasn't able to get the 4.3.3 version.
Would disabling my firewall and antivirus/antispyware really allow me to download the 4.3.3 without reaching my internet usage limit???
Also, I have over 200+ songs on my computer, but on step 4 of 5 of the sync, iTunes says it could not sync 100 of my songs b/c "it could not find them." They are filed in my iTunes folder on my computer (PC). I understand why 100 of my songs are not on my iPad, but what about the other 100+ songs, why did they not sync? Some of the songs "not found" I actually purchased on iTunes!!! How can they not be found???

Purchased Macbook Air and wirelessly loaded Office 2004 from my other Macbook Pro. One week later, I updated to Office 2008 for Mac. Two months later, Entourage became corrupted: can only Send email, but not receive any; Calendar and other functions continue to sync with no problem. Also, email sent to Trash doesn't empty. Original disc unavailable at present; potential conflict with Office 2004?

It's possible that some data in the Microsoft User Data folder (located in your documents folder) has gotten a bit "wonky."
My understanding of the '08 installer is that it purposely runs a script at the conclusion of the installation to removal '04 if it was found on your system. Was that not the case? Do you still have a working '04 set of applications?
Also, the fact that it did work (and doesn't now) tells me that somehow your profile or the Entourage database has become corrupted or unstable for various reasons. Have you followed the support documentation on repairing your Entourage profile? What sort of success/failure has that generated?

Mail app says I have 8554 new mail messages but my mailbox is empty om my iPhone 4S

my iphone 4s mail app shows that i have 8554 emails but my mailbox is all empty. it started doing this after i did the software update to the newest version on 2-20-2014. I was deleting old messages and then it started. How do I fix this? I deleted my email account and then put it back on and it still shows 8554 emails.

Okay I figured it out. I downloaded CleanApp. I dragged Mail.app to it as if I were going to uninstall it, and unchecked the app itself. I then deleted all the other files, and restarted Mail.app.
Everything's back to defaults.

Since your PC is running Windows 7, it should also meet these other minimum system requirements:
Computer and processor: 1 Ghz or greater x86/x64 Processor with SSE2 instruction set
Memory: 1 GB RAM (32 Bit) /2 GB RAM (64 Bit)
Hard disk: 3.5 GB free disk space

Can't send new mail messages but replies go out fine

For the past 2 days my Mail program won't send new messages out. I get no error message, it just does not go out. However, if I reply to a message, all is fine. This just happened all of a sudden. No changes to software, OS, etc. Can anyone help?

I don't know how the server would block messages any
differently than it would for messages sent from my
Mac. They're both going through the same network -
my Earthlink (Comcast) broadband connection from home.
If the iPhone and the Mac are using the same network connection, the server shouldn't be able to tell the difference. This tells me your iPhone may be connecting through EDGE and not WiFi.
