Hi,
Did you perform a clean installation of Windows 7 on this disk? Did you change the sata mode as Tripredacus said?
Please give us more exact prompt message and which phase did you encounter this error?
Please read this article to change your BIOS setting:

• Cannot install on this Disk, no previous installation of OS X detected

Hi,
today I tried to install OS. I took install CD 1 (original Mac OS X Panther v10.3) and I ran Disk utility - made new partition and erase disk (I want clear new installation and I don't need old data).
Then I ran installation and then I got this message:
Cannot install on this Disk, no previous installation of OS X detected
Why does it need previous installation? I want to make new Install. How can I make it?
Thanks a lot!

CDs looks the same, but in the first CD is under Install Disk 1 write "Upgrade".
As I wrote, I have 3 CDs - black with silver X, which I got with my computer. On CDs is Panther 10.3 which was pre-install in my computer too and which I erased.
From Pogue's "Mac OS X: The Missing Manual, Panther Edition":
When you buy Panther from a store, you get the installer described on these pages—the one capable of performing either an Upgrade installation or an "Archive and Install" (that is, a clean install).
You may have received a different set of CDs, however, thanks to Apple's Software Up-to-Date program. (That's where you pay only $20 or so for the upgrade—an consolation prize offered to people who bought a new Mac only a few weeks before a major new Mac OS X version comes out.) You'll know if you have this set, because Disc 1 bears the label Upgrade Disc.
Trouble is, there's no Archive and Install option when you run this installer. After all, these discs are intended to upgrade the copy of Mac OS X that's already on your new Mac.
That doesn't mean, though, that you can't perform a clean install at all. If you use the Erase and Install option, you do indeed get a clean installation of Panther. You'll have to re-create your accounts and settings, but at least you'll wind up with the considerable stability benefits of a clean installation.
It may be that your machine was "pre-upgraded" before you received it, and you got the Panther upgrade disks but weren't also given a set of the original Jaguar disks.
Try the installation again, and when you get to the Select a Destination screen, see if there is an Options button. If so, click it, and see if you can get to an Erase and Install option.

• Simply says "cannot install on this computer" when installing on my g4

help! i went through all the steps and just before installing, it says "cannot install on this computer" with no error code, no other buttons, and no way to resolve the problem. i'm installing on a g4. please help!

Hello,
You don't provide enough information to provide you with a definite answer. What are you trying to install? OS X, an update, a program, etc.?
If you are talking about an OS X 10.4.x update, then you should make sure that you are getting the PowerPC version and not the Intel version of that update.
If you are talking about installing OS X (or any other Mac OS), then you do need to be aware of the following:
The Mac will only install from Restore Disks / OS installation disks that meet one of the following criteria.
1) Original Retail boxed version of Mac OS that is of a later version than the computer originally shipped with.
2) Software Restore / Installation disks that originally came with that specific computer.
If you are using anything other than that, you will not be successful in getting the computer to boot from the installation disks and install the Mac OS.
If you purchased / obtained install disks from someone else, and they are not retail disks, then that could be the problem. The grey disks are an OEM disk, and are keyed to a specific computer. If they do not detect that computer when you try to install them, then it will not work.
These disks are usually labeled with machine name on them like eMac, iMac, etc.
Even if the machine you have is the same one printed on the label, it still will not likely work. Not only do they check to make sure it is the same type of computer, but they also check to see if it is the exact same revision and version that it shipped with.
If one thing is different, then they won't install.
And, as mentioned above, if you use retail installation disks, then you will need to make sure that they are of a version later than the version which came with the computer. Apple has a mechanism built-in to prevent installation of an OS that pre-dates the version which shipped on the computer.
Perhaps a bit of clarification is in order:
I don't know which version of the Mac OS came with the computer you are specifically working with, so let me just use OS 10.3.7 as an example.
So, assume that the computer originally shipped with OS 10.3.7 pre-installed from the factory.
Now, the computer (and the Mac OS) would prevent you from installing OS 10.3.6 or earlier on it. The reason for this is that the operating system needs to be aware of all the system's specific needs. It needs to know how it's power management system works, and so on.
Now for the tricky part, I mentioned that in regards to the retail boxed version that you would need to install a version later than the version which came with your computer originally. Now, that may sound funny, but here's why.
Let's suppose that OS 10.3.7 was already available before your computer was produced. And, let's suppose that a few unique customizations were necessary to make the current OS 10.3.7 run on the new machine. In that case, Apple may have released a custom "Build" of OS 10.3.7 that would run on the new system. So, in that case, the already available retail version of OS 10.3.7 may fail to work on that system. But, OS 10.3.8 would be aware of the needs of that machine since 10.3.8 would include the customizations provided in that special build of 10.3.7.
So, that is why I suggested going for a newer revision of the Mac OS when purchasing / using a retail boxed package. That way you can make sure it is aware of your system's specific needs.
I hope this helps.

• Mac OS X cannot install on this computer read install read me on the DVD ?

Bought a used MacBook with a intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 Ghz with 2 gig memory and it came running leopard 10.05.1 on it already want to do a clean install of Leopard. DVD takes me to the point where i chose my language then i get this error saying Mac OS X cannot install on this computer read the install read me on the DVD
Any suggestions ?

If this is a retail copy of Mac OS X (not bundled with your mac), that may be the cause of your problem, especially if it was pre-installed with 10.5.1.
As far as I know, but I may be wrong, there is no 10.5.1 retail DVD (only 10.5.0), this could mean your mac is newer than the retail OS X DVD (10.5.0), and you have no other choice that using your Leopard DVD bundled with your machine, because your machine may have some hardware bot handled by the retail 10.5 DVD.

Steve Jobs obviously was "the man" because every update or install now gives me problems... i can no longer download anything to my iphone.. giving me errors of "cannot install at this time" and i get an error installing itunes on my other laptop... wth is going on!??!
ok so the download problem with my iphone.. what could be the cause of that? ive restarted and deleted the "undownloaded app" over 10 times already. and restarted the iphone 10 times... next thing i know i cant install itunes on my laptop.... geez man..
obviously there is a fix which someone will help... but why should i have to go through all that crap to install a so called uncomplicated software... when you think about it this really shouldnt even be an issue.
normally if the thing dosent work. normally with most programs you just uninstall the uncompleted software and just reinstall and everything is usually good to go.. help!

ive never had any problems with ap[ple products in the past... this is a first and a stupid problem if you ask me

• Trouble Installing Windows 2012 R2 (Windows can't be installed on this drive)

I "binged" this error message and it seems to be beaten to death but my problem is not resolved. Basically, Im trying to install 2012 R2 on a server which currently also has CentOS6.3. Im not doing a dual boot and I want only Windows 2012.

During
the install process I hit error message below. I have tried partitioning my disk but I end up with Primary partitions and same error as below. I tried pointing the Load Driver option to the right driver for the SUperMicro motherboard but it comes back to the
same error. What am I missing and how can I fix this. All of the other links that the search found point to driver issues but did not mention which drivers exactly. Seems like I cannot upload images, but the error basically shows me
Drive 0 partition 1
Driver 0 Unallocated space
and below it shows me that Windows cant be installed on this drive.
If you deleted all partitions (don't try formatting), you should have been presented with a volume with no partitions during the installation procedure. You should be able to proceed at that point and Windows will initialize, partition, and format
the disk according to its needs.
If the disk is being shown to you but it still won't accept it for installation (it would be really helpful to get the exact message you are receiving), that is a little strange. Possibly it requires a different driver. At the screen that presents
the volume to use for installation, there is also an option to load a driver. (I have to do this all the time because I am regularly using drivers that are not on the Microsoft installation media). You have to have access to the driver in order
to be able to load it. If the driver is on a CD, you remove the Windows DVD, insert the driver CD, browse to the location of the driver and install it, remove the driver CD, insert the Windows DVD, click refresh on the window, and you should be able
to proceed, if the problem was a driver problem.
The only other time I have had a situation like yours is when I have improperly zoned/masked a LUN from a SAN, but it sounds like you are dealing with local storage, so that most likely will not come into play.
Is this the only hard drive on the system?

• When ipad connected to windows computer for sync I cannot install or remove an app. Screen does not react. Also lost my app store app from the ipad screen

when ipad connected to windows computer for sync I cannot install or remove an app. Screen does not react. Also lost my app store app from the ipad screen. IPad is ipad 2 and op system is 8.1.1. Just tried full restore and still the situation is the same.

For the missing App Store issue, if you swiped fro screen to screen to look in other folders and didn't find it, and did a spotlight search to see which folder it is in and had no success with that, Check Settings>General>Restrictions and make sure that you didn't disable it.
You can also reset the home screen layout and the icon will reappear - but the home screen will return to the way that it looked when you first activated your iPad.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.
For the syncing issue, which screen does not react, the computer and iTunes or the iPad?

Hi
Try to delete all content (format by clean install), then you can install Mavericks, however I think its better to add mavericks into External fladh drive (USB)
to do clean install"
the language in the screenshot is Swedish which is same in English "Radera= delete), make sure you do back up first for you photos, music, documents,,,,,etc.

I'm running Yosemite OS 10.10 on a Macbook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012 with 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 processor).

Vk2mh it sounds like the download was not complete or corrupted. Where are you downloading the update from? Have you tried downloading again?

• The password for the account "account name" was not changed. Your system administrator may not allow you to change your password or there was some other problem with your password. Contact your system administrator for help.

I have a user who's Active Directory password is going to expire. I had her reset her password by going to apple > system prefs > user > and clicking change password. She received the error "The password for the account "account name" was not changed. Your system administrator may not allow you to change your password or there was some other problem with your password. Contact your system administrator for help."
I had her change her password via the kpasswd command in terminal and that changed her password on the server sucessfully however the laptop has FileVault on it. Filevault is not recognizing the new password just the old password.
I have deleted the keychain which didn't resolve and now I am going to decrypt and reencrypt the drive. I'm hoping this is an isolated issue I have over 25 laptops configured like this.

I "think" the trick was unbinding and rebinding the computer account.
After unencrypting and trying to reencrypt Filevault would still not take the new password.
Rebooted the prompt to update the keychain appeared. Updated the keychain. Filevault would still not take the new password.
Unbinded and rebinded the computer account. It worked and let me add the user to filevault.
