. The Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD should still be available at this time from Apple for $19.99. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775 to purchase it. It may still be in the Legacy Products list. The App Store which is required to download 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion is part of the 10.6.6 update.
If you wait to long and they no longer have any in stock you will have to buy it from eBay or Apple resellers that still have stock. But you will have to pay a premium since the DVDs are no longer being made. Snow Leopard DVDs are already over $100 on Amazon.

10.5.8 update_'You cannot install Mac OS X Update on this volume.'
You cannot install Mac OS X Update on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update.
This is the message I get when I click on the hard drive I wan to install it on, I have two hard drives, neither want to work with it. the one with the osx 10.5 has 63 gb left and the empty one has 102gb left. Why is it doing this/ what should I do?If you're not using the combo updater, use it instead.

I am getting this message: You cannot install Security Update 2011-002 on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update?
is there a way to install this update?Hello
More information would be useful, for example which Mac OS are you running.
On the left menu item About this Mac provides useful information.
Also did you use Software Update to determine the update?
Using Software Update can ensure you download and install the correct package for your particular Mac and OS version. -

"You cannot install Mac OS X Update on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
This is the error I got when I tried to update my Macbook from OSX 10.5.6 to 10.5.7.
I downloaded this file (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL826)
A quick Google search suggested I get this one instead (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL827) The "Combo" update.
Well, the 10.5.7 Combo Installer didn't help either.
My friend suggested I try 10.5.8
Same error message again.
I really need to get at least 10.5.7 for software ASAP. I plan on getting Snow Leopard next month or so, but I really need at least 10.5.7 in the meantime. Any ideas? Some things I've tried:
- I ran a Verify Disk in Disk Utility, and it said there are no problems.
- Update Logs haven't shown any errors, nor has my computer ever tried to download the update and failed, according to the log.
- I tried checking updates on a different account, no luck there.
So far, that's all I've tried. Some of the other solutions seem more drastic, and so I'll leave those up to the skilled Tech Support guys on my campus, I've got an appointment tomorrow. -
i cannot install airport utility 5.6 onto my computer although i need it to configure an older airport express and base station
Here is my method.. the software is free that is required.. always a good point.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
2. Download and install unpkg.
http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall 6.1 so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.
For screen shots see this post.

I get the following error message when I connect a usb ethernet adapter to my new MacBook Pro: Unsupported - You cannot use an Apple USB Modem with this computer. I live where we only have dial-up and the Apple Store said this is what I need. In addition, when I connect the phone to the connecter it falls out, it will not click in.
Why are you using a usb ethernet adaptor? Just plug the modem into the usb port.

"Can't install OSX 10.4.2 on this computer"
"Can't install OSX 10.4.2 on this computer" error when trying to move up to "Tiger."
Hi,
I just purchased and received Tiger from Amazon.com via a seller that is a legit make repair biz. The disk they sent me says: Mac OS X Tiger "CPU drop in DVD" also states that the software is part of a hardware bundle. I can not install from this disk it shows up in my startup prefs as "Mac OS X upgrade DVD". Was I sold a bogus DVD? Do I have to buy another version of the install? -

WTF do I do!? I am an Admin on the computer so I doubt thats the problem. What the heck is going on?imatrixgravity wrote:
Sigh, the cleaner does not work because I have already removed all of my Adobe software prior using Windows Utility Cleaner. I don't have any.
Try to understand that the Creative Suite Cleaner package is supposed to clean up after a previous installation, which you have said you have had. If it's not working, perhaps it's stalling on the same problem - e.g., permissions or something - that you have created on your system and which is blocking the installation of the CS4 package afresh.
Specific error messages, including screen grabs, will be helpful. Just coming on here with vague "it does not work" statements isn't going to get you any specific help.
What's up with your Vista setup? Have you had to reinstall or recover the OS? Did you change accounts? The information in your first post above implies a permissions problem accessing the registry.
-Noel
P.S., I don't know what you mean by "Windows Utility Cleaner", but it is almost universally true that general purpose registry "cleaner" utilities screw up more things than they fix. Avoid using them! -
i cannot install adobe reader into my mac.. i get the message to open license agreement and select yes and click it closed
The free Rader does not require a license. Could it be that Mac OS is asking you for the password of your Mac? Or that you are required to launch Reader (open your Applications folder and doble click on the Reader icon) to accept the licence agreement? Please be as specific as you can.

I cannot save bookmarks on this computer, all of your help solutions do not work
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== about a week ago. I lost all of them when I uploaded the current version about a month or so ago.tnCan you start Firefox in [[Safe mode]] ?
You can also do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.

Windows Server 2012 R2 - ALL HF's Failing to install as "Does Not Apply to this computer"
Hi,
A general question about hot fix installs.
I have multiple servers that are all Windows 2012 R2. They do not have internet connections, so I have to install the Hotfixes manually. I download the HF's from the ISO download page (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/913086) every month. I collect them and install in a bulk install during a release cycle ( a couple times a year). I just realized that NO HF's have installed since JUNE 2014. Every HF that shows up in WindowsServer2012R2 directory fail to install with a message of "The update is not applicable to your computer". Which is fine if that was true, but.... I get this message for every HF from the ISO's since June 2014. NOT one HF thinks it is applicable to my computer. Could that be the case? No HF's apply to my Server 2012 systems since June of 2014?
This is my system info, and below that is the results from attempting to install 95 HF's.

I am successfully able to install the iTunes on the computer, but when I open the software I get following Error:

When I sync my ipod with itunes i am told that 96 of my songs are not authorized on this computer. I follow the directions to authorize and the message answers that I have 5 computers and this is the only one authorized. I only have one computer. How do I get itunes to sync those 96 songs???
Hi eversonjm,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. If you are out of authorizations but only have 1 computer, deauthorizing all computers and reauthorizing your correct computer might be a good idea. See this article for instructions:
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1420
If after deauthorizing and reauthorizing your computer, you are still not authorized for the 96 songs, this article has some steps for seeing the account name that was used to purchase a song, in the event that a different account may have been used:

trying to install Acrobat X Standard from disc. Computer gives me message that I have not met the system requirements. But I have, so what do I do?
First check form the below link that you actually meet the system requirements.

If you do, then copy the contents of the disc to a folder on the desktop and try running the installer and check if it works. -

Any help much appricatedWell, running on a 2006 model. I did not have a startup disc. Initially, it booted up on original software in 2006. Since then, I've upgraded to 10.6 via a box set. And, since then I think I popped it up to lion.
All I have on a disc is snow leopard. And, I can't get farther than the setup screen due to hard drive. I'm taking to a apple authorized repair store right now. We'll see what they tell me . I'm just going to weigh the cost of repair vs. buying new.
Another bad, stupid thing is I had no means of backing up my stuff. So, I might have lost things like music, vids, etc. we'll see if they can recover. If the cost is too much for repair I might just forget it and start over with a new system. Just not sure at this point.
