I have tons of room on my hard drive.....several hundred gig of free space.....I have re-downloaded trhe trial a few times and get the same message....Now what????

Did you ever get an answer or get it resolved? I have the same problem, but with that error message it also says I don't have write privileges and I do according to Toshiba and my computer as I am the admistrator. I too have plently of space available.
that would be vista telling you to right click on setup.exe and select Run as Administrator
(i think its setup.exe, i don't remember anymore the exact filename)

    Hi everyone,
I got a big problem, I download the Photoshop Extended Trial Version and extracted it without any problem. But when I double-click setup.exe nothing happens. It seems to popup a window, but its gone every fast. When I open the Taskmanager I can see the setup.exe under processes, but nothing happens also after hours of waiting.

    What I had tried beforce:
    - Installing in safe-mode = same problem
    - register jscript.dll myself = same problem
    - Uninstall CS3 = same problem
    - Using AdobeCS3Cleaner
    - Using AdobeCS3Cleaner -> found nothing...
    - delete last things of CS3 with TuneUp

    Peter,
To avoid complications, I would have uninstalled the trial first, then run the Adobe clean-up script, followed by the installation of the full version using the default location.
This has both a 32 bit and a 64 bit component, installed as follows:
    32 bit C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4
    64 bit C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64 Bit*)
The 64 bit version will be the default on a 64 bit OS.
In your situation I would uninstall everything related to CS4, run the Adobe clean-up script and start again.

  • I cannot install photoshop cs4 trial

Hello, i have downloaded the trial of photoshop cs4 extended from the Adobe site, then opens a download manager, downloads both two files but installation doesen't do any progress. More precisely, I open "setup.exe" as the admin, I confirm to run the program and then pops up a rectangular window with a progress bar that doesen't ever fill. Below that bar says: Checking system profile... (or something like that because i use greek Windows Vista and I translated it). Recently I installed adobe flash player required by firefox, has anything to do with this?

i am attaching an image but it is in greek.
    Excuse me for my english.

Check this: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407428.html . In addition, one or any of the following tips/ solutions may apply:
    - Uninstall all Adobe programs on your computer, including older versions of Photoshop etc., Adobe Reader, Adobe AIR
    - Run the CS4 Clean Script
    - Run the Microsoft Installer Database Cleanup Utility and remove any instances of Adobe installs still listed, especially Adobe Setup 2.0
Only after carefully verifying that your system is "uncontaminated" by remnants of otehr Adobe stuff try a re-install.

  • Cannot install Photoshop CS4 on Windows Vista Business

Ok people, looking for some help with this.  I have a new PC (less than 2 months old).  I cannot get Photoshop CS4 installed at all.  I'm sure there have been a million threads like this before asking the same question.  Although I am a newb to Photoshop I am certainly not when it comes to computers, this is what I do for a living.  I can't even believe I am actually having to ask for help.... :\
Anyway, help appreciated.  I have Windows Vista Business SP1 (32-bit), and its running on a Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.5GHz with 4 gig of RAM.  I have plenty of free space on my hard drives.
When the install completes, I get the same error message, installed with errors.  When I click to see the error info it says something about language packs (I can get the exact error if you want, just installed and uninstalled about 10 times but hey).
Things I have tried a few times have been to follow through all the other threads and the Adobe support pages - Uninstalling the product through Programs first, running Windows Install Cleanup, running the Adobe CS4 Clean Script - when I do these things in this order both of the cleanup utilities don't find any installs of Photoshop CS4, so it doesn't appear they are doing anything.  I have disabled everything on the PC, done a selective startup, turned off UAC, firewall, anti-virus - everything suggested.  Still, the same error persists.
I have even run my Registry Mechanic and cleaned up that, and of course checked registry permissions etc.  Please help!

You may want to install Vista SP2. It contains a lot of fixes and has the newer 4.5 installer.
Also if Vista is set for English then CS4 has to be set as US English upon install (I think someone already pointed that out).
Before install go services and set the windows installer to auto and start it. Also good idea to turn off windows defender.
Go to MSconfig and turnoff as many start up items that you don't need running (you will have to reboot).
Ensure nothing Adobe related is running in the back ground before install. (someone already mention this I think)
Anti-virus: I turned mine off during install.
I did not install AIR nor Device Central on my system as I would never use them.
    Tiernobyl wrote:
Ok, so I've tried all the things suggested above but still get the same errors....
    Adobe AIR
    Error:
    Error 2.
Adobe Photoshop CS4 English Language Pack
    Error:
    Error 2.
    LangPack (English) for DeviceCentral
    Error:
    Error 2.
Anyone else have any idea what might be causing my problem?  The other thing I was going to try was contacting Adobe support, but can I do this for the trial version?  When I tried to log a case it kept asking me to select my product, but I don't have one yet....
    Thanks.

  • Cannot install Photoshop CS4 on Windows 8.1

Trying to install Photoshop CS4 on Windows 8.1 but upon the initial "Checking system profile" step of the installation I keep getting this: "Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact adobe customer support for assistance". Anyone know how to fix this?

    Hi srr49,
You can try installing in compatibility mode and check.
Windows 8.1 is not a supported OS for Photoshop CS4. I would recommend purchasing the latest Photoshop CC.

  • Cannot install Photoshop CS5 Trial

    Hello all.
I'm desperately searching help to install Photoshop CS5 Trial on my PC. I have Windows Seven Ultimate 32 bit, and any time I try to install the regular setup file downloaded via Adobe's site I get an error message. Another strange issue regarding a message displayed in a dialog box during setup: after the "INSTALL TRIAL" selection there is a dialog box displaying the components to install. There is only the Photoshop voice, with a red X, and after the selection a new message appears in the right side of the dialog, warning me that "THE SELECTED COMPONENTS ARE DISABLED".
After the start of installation I got the following message:

  • Cannot install Photoshop CS4 onto a new iMac

I have just bought a new iMac and want to put my Photoshop CS4 on it. It has previously been on my 5 year old MacBook Pro. I have downloaded the .dmg file from the adobe website but as soon as I open it up and click on the setup icon a pop up opens saying "Cannot Install Please click the Quit button". This all happens before I am given the option to put in a product key. I have just done the same process with Lightroom 2 and it worked fine. Any ideas?

Yes, it seems you are downloading the wrong thing.

  • Cannot install Photoshop CS4 from Design Standard Educational

I just purchased the educational version of Adobe CS4 Design Standard and had no problem installing everything but Photoshop CS4 (which is what I really need)!  It does not show up on the installation menu when I run startup, but it seems to be on the install DVD in a couple of .dmg packages. I currently have photshop elements 6 for Mac installed, and I previously had the Photoshop CS4 ext trial with LightRoom 2 installed, but removed them from my system once the trial was over. Why isn't Photoshop CS4 installing and how can I fix it? Do I need to reinstall the trial software and then try and activate the serial number? Is the install DVD disk bad?
I had a look through the forums here and don't seem to have any of the same issues.  I have three disks in the package, 1-Applications, 2-Content, and 3-Learning.
I can see the .dmg files for Photoshop on the 1-Applications disk, but am not sure if I expand them will they install Photoshop properly.  I managed to install InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat 9 with the assorted pieces without any problems, and still have about 100GB of space left on the drive.
I'm installing it on my MacBook Pro, with 250GB HD, and 4GB of RAM with the 512MB video card.  I previously ran the trial version on the machine without any issues, so I am assuming that there are no problems with the minimum requirements to run the software.  The one issue I am thinking that might be affecting it is that I do have Safari 4 on my machine...
    Any ideas?

That did the trick.  I think I removed the old trial version by just dragging it into the trash and not using the uninstall function.  Adobe customer service really sucks as well.  I submitted a ticket to them about this and they cancelled it as the registration for CS4 Design Standard wasn't listed in the drop down menu when sent it in, despite it being registered.  Obviously Customer Service people who can't read!!
Just goes to show that this forum is a better trouble-shooting environment!  The only funny thing with using the clean tool, is that I had to completely remove all programs installed with Design Standard and then re-install everything.  Very clunky.  They should get some more people from Apple to design the Adobe installation/uninstallation process...

  • Cannot install Photoshop CS4 upgrade

Whenever I click on Setup.exe, the hourglass shows for a moment and then nothing at all happens! I have tried everything I know: making a New Admin account, disabling Services and Startups via msconfig, doing a thorough virus check (nothing found), etc. I have tried to first uninstall CS3 but, surprisingly, it will not uninstall via Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel: after clicking Change/Remove, nothing happens. I spent considerable time with a support person at Adobe but to no avail.
I should add that I install and uninstall programs frequently, and I have never before had any such problems with other Adobe products such as Lightroom or previous versions of Photoshop. There is nothing exotic about my system: Windows XP, dual monitors (I tried disabling one of them), 4gb RAM, 3 internal hard drives, ATI radeon graphics card.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW ANY PLAUSIBLE SOLUTIONS YOU MAY HAVE FOR THIS ISSUE. Many thanks!

Dave, thanks again for your suggestion. I ran CS3Clean Script at level 2 but no solution, so then I ran it at level 3. Still no solution and, much worse, now no Photoshop or Bridge! I backed up data files the Script program recommended, but it seems to have removed the entire CS3 program. I do have my original downloaded CS3 package, but still it will not install: clicking setup.exe is followed by a message about initializing, and then nothing. And still, my purchased CS4 upgrade will not install: as always, after clicking setup.exe, nothing happens.
Very frustrating. I do not want to reinstall Windows XP if that means I have to reinstall all my programs and re-tweak all their settings. I can call Adobe support again, but their technician was not very helpful in my previous call. If you have any further ideas, please let me know, and thanks for all your help.

  • Cannot Install Illustrator CS4 Trial or any others?

I have Downloaded and successfully installed Adobe PS, AE, DW and FL with no problem.  But I recently tried to download Adobe Premeir and Adobe Illustrator trials and my computer locked up.  It would not start correctly and I had to restore my computer to a earlier time.  After this I have been able to download the trial files but when the installation bar gets to the end it says that a component of (insert CS4 program here) was unable to install.  I have tried many times to install again with other products and with no programs whatsoever open.  Did me having to restore my computer have anythign to do with this?

Well, you made a mess! (don't take it personally) Most likely the problems lies within the order in which you installed. There's an intricate web of interdependencies between shared Adobe components across programs and some of that is fragile, to say the least, so it breaks down when one install tries to overwrite or update some of those components. There's a reason, why there is a Master collection. You best bet at this point is to simply use the CS4 Clean Utility from the support pages to unregister all installer files from the database, then simply install the programs that so far you weren't able to get on your system. You can repeat this after every install or when something seems to have gone wrong, it really leaves the programs in place intact. The only downside is, that when you want to get rid of it, you will have to manually delete all directories....

  • Cannot Install Photoshop CS4

Whenever I insert my CD, the installer does not pop up, so I open up the Adobe CS4 folder at the root level of my disk and I double-click the Setup. However, the Setup does not start. Instead a window pops up saying: "Adobe Setup has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Can anyone help me with this?

If you do all your pages by hand coding I suppose anything would be a
toy. While I've learned enough about HTML and CSS that I can track down
and fix a problem, hand coding is simply not something I want to even
    think about.
Dreamweaver is my tool of choice pretty much because it's the only web
authoring program I've used, but it does everything I need it to do.

  • Photoshop CS4 Trial Version?

Hello everyone, for the past hour or so I've been trying to install Photoshop CS4 (trial). Now, I've gone through the installation successfully, but when it was done it said I would need to restart and reinstall to add the missing components. It came back up as this  and if I check Adobe Photoshop CS4, everything gets selected. Now, I've already installed this, and have no more room to install it again. But even with nothing checked, it still says the total size is 6.9 MB. So I tried with nothing selected, and it went successfully, but when I went to open Photoshop, it said I needed to reinstall and add missing components. I've tried restarting, and I've tried reinstalling (the same as above).
Exactly what comes up when I try to open Photoshop is: "Some of the application components are missing from the Application directory, Please reinstall the application."
Can someone please help me? Thanks in advance!

  • Cannot install Photoshop CS6 ugrade to Photoshop CS4 on Windows 7 PC.

I cannot install Photoshop CS6 upgrade to Photoshop CS4 on my Windows 7 PC. Error reads - Serial Number you provided is valid, but a qualifing product could not be found on this computer. I then selected CS$ as the product and entered the serial number with Error - This serial number is not for a qualifying product. CS4 is currently running on the PC. Any advise?

If you recently purchased CS6 as an upgrade then the versions that qualify for the upgrade were reduced a couple years ago to only include CS5 and CS5.5.  If you purchased CS6 a couple years ago while CS4 was still in the upgrade path then you should contact Adobe support using chat and see if they can help you get thru the activation.
