Cannot install Photoshop elements...shared technologies won't load

Hi
I've tried 7 times now to install this programme ( and uninstall....it takes an age) but cannot get past the Shared Technologies bit...have tried everything that I have found so far but still it will not work.... Any clues or help would be really appreciated
Thanks
Sue

I have the same problem after upgrading to PSE12 about a week ago.  I'm running Win7.  When I try to open the Organizer, an error message says the catalog is in use by another propbgram.  I uninstalled and deactivated PSE11, thinking the Organizers might be in conflict, rebooted, but no luck.  Any ideas?

    Cannot install Photoshop Elements 10.
I had the trial of Photoshop Elements 10, but uninstalled it a few days before trying this install.
I’m trying to install Photoshop Elements 10 but when I run setup it wants to uninstall it first and it fails to do that, stopping with “Error 1402 – Could not open key”. It then rolls back the install and ends. I purchased the boxed bundled version of Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10. How can I get it to install without trying to uninstall first, as it is not really installed anymore?

    I have Windows Pro 64-bit.
I have gotten past the problem of it wanting to uninstall first. The install proceeds as it should until it is almost done then I get an error and it rolls back. The error is:
Error 1402 could not open key. UNKNOWN\components\da42bc89bf25f5bd0af18c3b9b1a1ee8\9fa945eeaaf84854382bce1fcbd91cff

It seems to be permission problem but before making any conclusion please confirm the following information.
    1. OS name and version
    2. User type logged in with  i.e. normal user or admin
    3. Exact Error Message, Sceenshot of the problem would be great.
    4. The complete path of the file which it denied access

I think PE 2 only worked as far OS 10.3 Panther. There is no alternative but to get the version that works on your 10.7 Lion Machine, which I think is PE 6 or higher.

  • Cannot install Photoshop Elements 10. [was:Question]

I bought and installed Photoshop Elements 10 and about a year later my computer crashed.  I bought a new computer but now I can not install Elements 10.  Why not?

Are you getting any kind of error message.

  • Cannot install photoshop elements on XP

when I launch the autoexec of photoshop elements, i got the initial screen with the possibile options. When clicking on the "install photoshop elements", nothing happen but a window open of Window installer that provides explanation about all the parameters to set in order to use the install command. There is then an "ok" at the bottom. When you click you close the window and everything goes standstill.
Does someone can help or explain what happens?
Note I have tried to use all the setup.exe that exist in the file but without results

Perhaps you can post a screenshot of the error you are referring too?  Also if you can please try opening the setup.exe file directly from the Photoshop Elements folder.  You can do this by completing the following steps:
    1. Go to Computer and right click on your DVD drive.
    2. Open the Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 folder
    3. Open the Setup application
This should allow you to launch the setup application manually if the autoplay is not working for some reason.

  • Cannot install Photoshop Elements 10 32-bit sources on 64-bit system

I was able to successfully install Photoshop Elements 10 on a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit system (new laptop) using the sources I had downloaded previously for a Windows 7 32-bit system (old laptop). However I was unable to to do the same for Photoshop Premier Elements. It suggested I needed a 64-bit version of the sources.
    Questions:
    - Where can I get the sources for the 64-bit version of Photoshop Elements 10?
    - Can I download the above without purchasing the software all over again?
    Thank you.

Download the free trial from the following link - it's the same as the full product.
Then enter your serial number to make it permanent.

  • Problem installing Adobe Photoshop Elements "Shared Technologies" solved

I was contacted by Adobe Support.  They remotely took over my computer.  Disabled the Antivirus and Firewall temporarily until restart after installation.  Then created a file labelled ADOBE.  I put in the disc and they downloaded the APE 10 to the folder, selected the SET UP icon, selected Administrator and began the installation.  It didn't get hung up at the "Shared Technologies" this time and was successfully downloaded. I appreciate their patience and help.  It seems the problem is system specific and it is a bit frustrating, but it is solved.

    Sorry for the trouble, 907Faribanks.
There was an issue with some of the Shared Technologies, so you'll need to update the installer. The instructions for doing so are here: http://adobe.ly/KB92579
Let us know if we can help further.

  • Cannot install PE 12 "shared technologies"

I tried to install elements 12 from the retail CD. It installs almost to end then stops with an error about shared technologies

    Seattle_Jimmy,
I found a solution on another thread that seems to work!
Old-geek     Sep 19, 2014 9:46 AM    (in response to acadcompsoftware)
I just by accident attempted to test your solution in a slightly different way. Having just downloaded the Adobe appsmanager, I installed it to try out what it was actually doing, because it was a little bit uncertain from your proposed solution as to what it was really doing. The thought then struck me, why not test this in reverse, i.e. having already installed the appsmanager, which apparently no longer does anything and has been discontinued by Adobe... Surprise, surprise, suddenly first Premier Elements 12 installed without problems! The only thing I had to do in addition to installing the appsmanager was to log out and back in. Then I did the same with Photoshop Elements 12, logged out/back in after installing Premier and lo and behold, Photoshop E12 installed without any problems! This happened after more than 5 attempts with all the different solutions suggested by Adobe and other forum members. This solution is slightly more elegant than the original proposal by acadcompsoftware   since it is no longer necessary to watch the install process and intervene before rollback. Install the appsmanager, log off/in and install! Good luck all, Old-geek

  • Cannot install Photoshop Elements 13

I initially tried to download the free trial of Photoshop Elements 13, but it wouldn't install. When I received an email suggesting I purchase the product on sale for USD 70. (ending January 3) I purchased and paid for it.
When I tried to install it, I was told downloading, extraction and installation were complete, but then it quit. I tried again, but only got as far as 'download complete.' I clicked on 'open bundle,' then got message beginning: "The file archive part of Adobe Photoshop Elements is missing..."  I repeated the process and got the same message.
On January 5 I paid a computer professional to install it.  He got it working and I actually worked on a couple of images, but it quit after about fifteen minutes, and I am getting the above message again.
I was referred to 'chat' and 'forums' ... Chat chatted for a while then told me they don't support Photoshop Elements.  Forums asked for my Skype ID and phone number. I said I prefer not to use Skype and they did not reply.
If you were to phone me at < personal info removed > and tell me how to get past this faulty download, I would certainly appreciate it.

you need both the exe and the archive 7z (file 1 of 2) files.  put both in the same directory and double click the exe.
