Cannot Install Portal in Mid tier that exist

I have a Mid tier 10g 9.4.0.1.0 installed and now I want install Portal and Wireless, but I received this error message:
"Install has detected that you have previously installed a hegher install type of Oracle Application Server 10g in this home..."
I'm running the runInstaller in ./oui/bin from Mid tier installed.
Any idea?
Thanks

Hi,
You cannot install two midtiers in a single Oracle Home. You have to specify a different location in your disk during the second installation.

  • Cannot install BPEL PM mid-tier flavor (2nd option) from beta3 drop

On the instance repository information screen You have to provide orabpel and mid-tier ias_admin connect information. It pre-requisites an already populated bpel schema. Although I have run the scripts domain_oracle.ddl and server_oracle.ddl the following message appears when you press next in the OUI:
Altert: The OracleAS infrastructure database has not been upgraded with the OracleAS BPEL PM 10.1.2 schema....
Subsequently I cannot continue - any idea how to circumvent this message?
Again I think I have a complete orabpel schema

    Hello Frank,
we were running into the same problem, you can install the middle tier version only if you have setup up all the BPEL needed tables, views, procs in your database. With the beta3 ships a compressed file called irca.zip. It contains the IRCA ( Integration Repository Creation Assistant ). You need to run this assistant before the middle ware installation against your db. Following the db is prepared to be a repository for you BPEL middle ware.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot install program because newer version already exists?

    Hello,
I'm trying to install fontographer but it says it cannot install on this disk because a newer version of the program is already installed.
I find this quite strange because I've completely removed every single file of the other version, but still it says it's installed.
Anyone knows how I can solve thi problem?
Many thanks to anyone who is willing to help me.
    Greetz,
    Finn.

Use the developers method to completely uninstall the newer version of the program.
Sometimes a program will leave it's preference files because you might be uninstalling and reinstalling the same version to fix a software issue. The older version see's the newer version preference files and gives the errors.
Use the free Easy Find and find the programs file(s) and/or just remove them from your ~/Library/Preferences folder by Finder > Go to Folder > /Library/Preferences
There may be files in other locations as well. Perhaps it's best to ask the developer where all the files are for completel removal.

Downloaded Portal 10G from downloads server (as_windows_x86_portal_wireless_101200) to a new Windows 2003 Server. Attempt to install, get the series of messages "checking prerequisites" ending with "All installer requirements met."

I heard that Oracle has a limitation of 2GB Memory Allocation for Oracle Database. Can you post steps on how to acoomplish this task?Pray tell, where did you hear that? I'd encourage you find the source and ask for your money back - they give bad advice.
More relevant info can be found at http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/portal.portal_db?selected=3 ... scroll down to 'Platform Guide' and select the appropriate guide - Windows 32 bit, Windows Itanium, or Windows 64 bit - that is relevant to your environment. For 32 bit, look at Chapter 1 and the sections

    Any help much appricated

Well, running on a 2006 model.  I did not have a startup disc.  Initially, it booted up on original software in 2006.  Since then, I've upgraded to 10.6 via a box set.  And, since then I think I popped it up to lion.
All I have on a disc is snow leopard.  And, I can't get farther than the setup screen due to hard drive.  I'm taking to a apple authorized repair store right now.  We'll see what they tell me .  I'm just going to weigh the cost of repair vs. buying new.
Another bad, stupid thing is I had no means of backing up my stuff.  So, I might have lost things like music, vids, etc.  we'll see if they can recover.  If the cost is too much for repair I might just forget it and start over with a new system.  Just not sure at this point.

  • I have 4.0 installed, have downloaded 5.o several times but cannot install it - the message is that I "don't have permission"; using a mac book pro OS 10.6.

Have been unsuccessful many times in updating firefox. I get the messages: do you want to replace earlier version? I click yes, then get message stating I don't have permission to install the newer version. There has been no asking for a password to install this on my Mac, which is what I assume may be needed for the installation.
    How can I achieve this?
At times I have been offered ( by firefox) an opportunity to connect with their updater, but this connection has lasted 30 min., with no success, so I have closed the window.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded

  • I cannot install Firefox: installation tells me that I have no administartor rights, but I do.

    beckyj3,
the last version of Mac OS X which supported running PowerPC apps on Intel Macs was Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). If you’d like to play this PowerPC game on your Intel MacBook Pro, then you’ll need to install Snow Leopard on it and boot into Snow Leopard. (Note that the last MacBook Pro which natively supported Snow Leopard was the Early 2011 model.)
The game was almost certainly published before Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) was released, so back then, all versions of “Mac OS X 10.3 or higher” would have supported running that PowerPC game.

  • Help! I cannot find some artists on ipod that exist on itunes

I have recently synched my ipod to itunes. I see that they both have the same number of songs now. But I found that when looking under "artists" on the ipod, not all of them are there. For example, in iTunes, I see "Etta James" under artists yet if I look under artists on the iPod, she isn't there. If I search for her by album name, she is there on the iPod. So it seems that the data is there but organized improperly. How do I fix this? I have the latest updates for iTunes and iPod.
    Dell Dimension 800   Windows XP

I had the same problem... the bug seems to appear when there is 1 song with an album name and a couple without an album name listed (and obviously all the songs have the artist's name entered)
Simply entering an album name to one of the songs without one makes the All> submenu appear under Artistname> now.
For example, I renamed a albumless song to "Unknown" and I now got under Artistname>:
    All>
    Album1
    Unknown
All the songs without an album name are now accessible under All>
Ideally all songs would have an album name...

  • Unable to install 10g Mid-tier on 9i infra

We have an existing Oracle9iAS portal running. We need to upgrade this to 10g.
According to Oracle Application Server Upgrade and Compatibility guide, Chapter
    4 Task 1:Install a New 10 Release2(10.1.2) Middle Tier In Preparation of
Upgrade , I am installing Oracle 10g Mid-tier (Portal & Wireless). At the time
of installation when it is prompting for OID i am mentioning the existing OID
    instance of 9iAS.
During installation everything goes with the installation phase, during the
configuration phase it goes fine till OC4J Instance Configuration Assistant.
While running the OC4J Instance Configuration Assistant every time(tried n times) it hangs at
    the following point
Adding application 'UltrasearchAdmin' to the DCM repository..done.
    Application 'UltrasearchAdmin' deployed successfully.
Adding application 'orauddi' to the DCM repository..done.
    Application 'orauddi' deployed successfully.
Adding application 'portalHelp' to the DCM repository.....
Did anyone run through this problem???

    Have you solved this issue?

  • How to deploy across multiple mid-tier instances

I was hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction. We have two portal/webcache mid-tier instances on release 10G AS 9.0.4.2. On the ias_admin home page I tried to create a cluster and add the two instances to a cluster but it won't let me do it for a portal type install. If that is the case, how do people handle deploying such things as portlet providers and data sources across multiple mid-tier instances? Here is the concern from our Portal admin:
As discussed, the inability to cluster the mid-tiers will cause issues in production as we try and keep deployed portlet providers with their required configurations and datasources in synch. While deploying and configuring 1-2 mid-tiers for a given portlet manually is do-able, the chance for out of synch components or configuration settings is amplified for each additional mid-tier. If we manually deploy 5 mid-tiers and accidently mistype the datasource for example, we'll have a random error that will occur once requests are attempted to be serviced by that mid-tier. This will make troubleshooting difficult. We really need some way to deploy and configure settings one time and have these items propagated to all the other mid-tiers.
What is the best way to handle this scenario?
Regards and thanks for any info,

Jar files are not stored on the file system
Temporary files are held in bpel/domain/default/tmp folder, whereas jar files in the dehydration store for clustered deployment.
If you configure BPEL (not AS) cluster - files will be propagated to all nodes.

  • Cannot install Adobe Reader 11.0.09  and Asian Fonts over older versions

I'm using a script to install Adobe Reader 11.0.09 and it works sometimes, but very often, there is an error saying it cannot install it because a previous version exists.
We have to manually uninstall older versions of Adobe Reader 11 and then re-run the script and then it works.
    @echo off
    cls
    start /wait msiexec.exe /i \\appserver1\Apps\AdobeReader\11.009\AcroRead.msi /qb TRANSFORMS="\\appserver1\Apps\AdobeReader\11.009\AcroRead.mst"
    start /wait msiexec.exe /i \\appserver1\Apps\AdobeReader\11.009\fonts\FontPack11009_XtdAlf_Lang.msi /qb
How can we change this script so that it will force installation over any previous version?
By the way, the installation was created with Adobe Customization Wizard and has settings enabled to remove any previous versions of Adobe Reader.  So, the problem with installing over existing version could be from the Font Pack installation,

What does the verbose installation log say?

  • I have Mac OS 10.5.8 and cannot install Google Chrome

I've read everywhere that you must have OS 10.5 or higher in order to install Google Chrome. I have OS 10.5.8 and have downloaded Google Chrome from various locations only to get the same result: "You cannot open the application “Google Chrome” because it is not supported on this architecture." Can anyone please let me in on the magical secret of how to install Google Chrome? ...or am I just doomed to not being able to use it with this OS?

Chrome will only run on an Intel Mac--your profile indicates that you have a G5, which is a PowerPC machine. If this is correct, you cannot install & run Google Chrome on that computer.

  • Cannot Install iOS 8 even if correct IPSW used

    Hi,
I cannot install the iOS8 IPSW file that I have downloaded. I had this phone as part of the developer license but that developer license has already expired and I have not renewed it. For this reason, I was not able to download the GM Seed version. I wanted to upgrade to the released version of the iOS. How can I do this?
    Thank you

Basically you make sure you iTunes is up to date. Then you plug your iPad in, open iTunes, click on the name of your device. THen I'd do a backup. Then download and install the update (you'll see a update button in iTunes)
