Hi
Because this error has different causes, you may have to check multiple items on your computer.
Firstly you could try this procedure:
If drive letters have been changed on your computer, re-assign the original letter to the CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, or operating system drive. Follow the steps appropriate to your operating system:
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. In Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management.
3. In the Computer Management tree, click Disk Management.
4. Right-click the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, or the drive that contains the operating system, and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths.
5. Click Change, and change it to the original drive letter. Click OK, and then click Close.
If it does not work check this useful website:

  • Cannot install on a GTP partition

    Hello,
like a lot of people, I get an error message saying I cannot install on a 'GTP partition'. - I personally don't understand this.
I had installed Windows before on this disk. But now, it won't continue. (Windows XP is showning an 'Unkown Disk' with 1 456gb partition..., Windows 7 and Windows 8 are just saying it cannot be installed under a GTP partition.)
I haven't really changed much since I installed Windows last. I removed Windows 7 to remap my whole HDD with timemachine to make room for Mountain Lion. My current partition map looks like this: [terminal -> user$ Diskutil list]
       #:                       TYPE NAME                        SIZE         IDENTIFIER

I have kept all of my OS X operating systems from each update as Apple removes support for a lot of the applications I use on each one. Before, my table looked a little like this:
       #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER
       0:      GUID_partition_scheme                        *500.1 GB   disk0

       4:                 NTFS   Windows 7                     100 GB    disk0s4
Can adding just two more parition ruin the whole setup?
I have read so many articles about this where people have literally no idea what they are talking about. Examples being "You can only install Windows by using Bootcamp" or "You can only have two partitions to install Windows" or "Apple have removed support for Windows to remove compeition".
Any alternatives to Windows if I cannot sort this problem out? I've tried using things like Crossover, but it's so buggy, and I can't imagine Virtual Disks from Qemu or Parallels running games smoothly.
I didn't realise that by adding two partitions, it could ruin the whole support...
-And my HDD is not corrupt. I have reformated and reinstalled my paritions to make sure.
    Thanks

  • Fingerprint and remote control supported on Satellite P100-387

Does p100-387 have a fingerprint and remote control? Please, somebody answer me.
    Thanks.

    Hi
In my knowledge the Satellite P100-387 does not support the fingerprint reader and is not delivered with remote control.
    But you are right.
The fingerprint and remote control are optional and some notebooks from the P100 series support the fingerprint reader and are delivered with remote control.
I found also this site with the hardware specification of P100-387:

  • I cannot Install Toshiba Power Saver on my Satellite M45-S169 - Code: Ox7E

I cannot Install/reinstall/remove/run Toshiba power saver on my Satellite M45-S169. after I have reinstalled the system (now it is Windows XP Professional SP2). When I tried to open Power saver via control panel I got accessed denied and every time I reboot the system I get the error message:

A fatal error has occurred. This programme will be terminated.
    Code: Ox7E
I cannot neither remove nor reinstall power saver. Can I try to run power saver for Windows XP SP2 applicable for other laptop models? I could not find the one for my model. Which one will fit? Any other solutions/advises to the problem?
    Please, help
    Thank you a lot, Oksana

    Hi
First of all you have to known that this notebook was designed for the US market and all drivers, tools or any other Toshiba utilities should be used from the Toshiba US website.
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_home.jsp
Please ensure that you have already installed Toshiba ACPI Common Modules before you will continue with any further Toshiba software installation.
One important hint; the Toshiba power saver profile must be chosen in the Windows power options!!! Dont forget this!!!

  • Cannot install program because newer version already exists?

    Hello,
I'm trying to install fontographer but it says it cannot install on this disk because a newer version of the program is already installed.
I find this quite strange because I've completely removed every single file of the other version, but still it says it's installed.
Anyone knows how I can solve thi problem?
Many thanks to anyone who is willing to help me.
    Greetz,
    Finn.

Use the developers method to completely uninstall the newer version of the program.
Sometimes a program will leave it's preference files because you might be uninstalling and reinstalling the same version to fix a software issue. The older version see's the newer version preference files and gives the errors.
Use the free Easy Find and find the programs file(s) and/or just remove them from your ~/Library/Preferences folder by Finder > Go to Folder > /Library/Preferences
There may be files in other locations as well. Perhaps it's best to ask the developer where all the files are for completel removal.

  • Cannot install program after begin removed from Group Policy published programs

    Hello,
We recently attempted to publish a program through Group Policy to allow users to install it but due to some requirements of the installer, it did not work. We removed it as a published program and now someone who attempted to install it through that method
cannot install the program at all. When they attempt to run the MSI from their local machine (not from a server share) they get an error saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable". We tried putting a copy
of the MSI in the network location it was looking for (which is where it was when it was a published program) and ran in to the same errors as before when it was a published program.
When we ran the installer as a different user that had admin access the program installed correctly and without issue. To avoid having to run as a different user in case the computer only has one admin account, is there a way to clear the user account's
memory of the msi or something?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge, deployed msi application will be installed before the computer allows a user to logon if you choose Assign. Otherwise, you need to use Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features\install a program from internet to get the msi
    installed.
Did you mean to deploy a MSI file to each computers? Is it not the method written in this KB?
How to use Group Policy to remotely install software in Windows Server 2008 and in Windows Server 2003
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/816102?wa=wsignin1.0#method6
If you just deploy a file from a shared network location, make sure that all your users has the permission to access the Network location.
Also, please check the policy under Applocker if there is any policy block the installation of MSI for your domain user except the admin account.

  • Cannot install the XP Modem driver for Satellite Pro A200

I'm a local network admin for Newbold College. We have new A200 laptops and we need XP Pro on some of them. I have tried to install the modem driver as one of the last drivers downloaded from the european support site. I also tried to Canadian site as well.
The driver install program doesn't seem to do anything. I tried to manually install the driver from one of Windows modem Agse/Toshiba software modem, but I have com port issues and I can't quire the modem.
    Can anyone help me please!!!!!!!

    Hi
What to say; I have checked the Toshiba Europe driver page and found all necessary and important XP drivers for the Satellite Pro A200.
Please note that the Toshiba European driver page provides XP drivers for 3 different Sat Pro A200 series!!! There is PSAE1, PSAE4 and PSAE7 series.
    Please choose the right one!!!!
Furthermore you will find an installation instruction txt file on the Tosh page.
In this file you will find a right and important installation driver order!!! Please follow these steps!!!
I dont know exactly why you get the modem com port problems but I assume that a new XP and driver installation should solve this strange issue.
    Good luck

I'm trying to get the THX console to install from my X-fi Extreme Gamer's install cd. When I hit click setup I get this message:
    Setup has experienced an error.

    -Close any running programs
    -Empty your temporary folder
Check your Internet connection (Internet-based Setups)
Then try to run the Setup again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Also, same goes for .isos downloaded of the install cd, so it's not a bad cd,

  • Cannot install programs or updates

when i try to install software or updates, when it gets to the stage where you are asked to select a destination volume, i have no choices. just a blank white box. and the continue button is disabled, until i select a destination. but no volume drive is showing up. thus i cannot continue with the installations.
any one know whats causing this problem?

Follow Carolyn's suggestions, particularly regarding repairing your hard disk from the install disk.
Only when this has been successful should you bear the following in mind when updating/installing:
There are no guarantees, but following this procedure when installing updates and upgrades on your Mac will go a long way towards avoiding unpleasant after effects and ‘post-update stress disorder’.
It is also worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
    1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
    2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
    3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site. If your car runs on gasoline you would not want to fill the tank with diesel, so don’t try to install the PPC updater on an Intel Mac!
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.4.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.4.9 to 10.4.10. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
    Now proceed as follows:
    4. Close all applications.
    5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
    7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
    8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious!
    9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them 10.4.10. compliant. Give them a weeks or two while you regularly check their websites for updates. This applies particularly to plug-ins for Safari 3.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.

  • [SOLVED]Cannot install programs

    I really need help.
I'm getting very upset with myself as I can't install any application. I've tried the Wiki and AUR with no luck.
    I'm using LXDE with PCManfm
I need to install some kind of text editor and hopefully a torrent client.
I don't know how to search the community repository effectively as the wiki has very little information on it. When I use pacman -Ss package, the result scrolls so fast, that I only get the last screenful.
If I use <SHIFT>+<PageUp>, I can only go maybe 3 screens up before I run out of 'history'.
Is there a way of pausing (waiting for a keypress) for listings like this (ls and dir as well)?
I've tried AUR and downloaded rtorrent but it won't install no matter how I use pacman -U, either as root or user.
How can I list and find applications that can be installed?
What exact syntax should I use to install downloaded tar.gz files?
Where do I get them from? Why is this so hard?

    Thanks for your reply(s).
I'm NOT giving up and I will make a perfectly functional Archlinux system. That's why I chose it, to learn. Most other distros are 'set and forget' and that wasn't for me.
Unfortunately, I'm learning about the filesystems, permissions, root/user and a pile of other stuff at the same time!
Also there were lots of problems that I solved without resorting to this forum. I only used this when something obvious just didn't work.
For example: Apps with ncurses base doesn't appear on a menu/desktop? That's a bit much to expect for a newbie to know.
As for the Wiki - There should have been a link or a quick explanation of how to use nano to alter rc.conf. I'll do it if no-one else does.
    In case you're interested:
+ Setup static ip, gateway etc np! - although the worked example in the Beginner's Guide using 'banana' needs a newbie comment.
    * I struck the pacman update issue very early on that caused errors updating /extra. Fixed that.
    * Audio installed but no sound - Fixed by installing alsa-oss
    * Errors on X11 (font path issues) - still unresolved but I've a working Lxde which I stuffed up and currently looking for a fix. (minimized windows just 'disappear' ' - I need to revert the taskbar panel to default and the config file I found on Lxde's wiki, copied and pasted into global config just made me lose my folder icons.
    * No Cdrom in the filemanager? Fixed by installing HAL
    + Firefox 3.0.0.3-1 runs well
+ installed Java (Jre), Flash 10 and some extensions
    + Transmission-glt is working
+ Leafpad is working (and doesn't get installed with lxde which should be mentioned in the wiki)
    + OO3 downloaded last night (I've only got a 128k connection). It's very good.
    * I can get to root while the desktop is up through a terminal, but can't get a new workspace! Lxde's Alt-F1, F2, F3 happen to remap Archlinux Alt-Fn keys. <sigh>
    Frustrating bits:
Did you know that you have to press 'Q' to exit a man page? I had to swap workspaces to finish the install. Then I searched the net until I found an old 'how to' on manpages!
I'm operating the system OK, but I fear that I'm generally doing things the long way and the wrong way. I want to be able to fast-track that aspect somehow.
    To Do:
I need to connect to my printer/scanner/server on a Windows XP network. Do I do this manually or via samba?
    Thanks
    Hans

  • Cannot install program, password not recognized

I am not able to install, the password doesn`t match

If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then possibly the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise, boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but you won't be able to unlock the Keychain. If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it. You’ll need to reset your keychain in the preferences of the Keychain Access application.

  • Display driver error while playing games on Satellite P100-387 PSPA3E

    Hi,
I have a Satellite P-100 387 PSPA3E notebook (with Nvidia 7600 GO 256 MB) and no matter what game I play I get a stop error-blue screen of death all the time and must restart.
It happens while I play either "Command & Conquere-Tiberium Wars" or "Warcraft III" (which can run on ANY low end machine).Did the BIOS update and got the latest display driver from Toshiba support. Nothing. Also, Ive tryed ALL the driver versions from Nvidia and from LaptopVideo2go.com with modded inf-s.
Dont know what else to do so I post here before contacting Toshiba. I have a valid warranty on the machine. Running XP MediaCentar which came with it.
    THX in advance!

I am heading to bed in a minute, but will look at driver details tomorrow.
I seem to remember that the latest BIOS update improved something to do with graphics.
Yes, I've got the 7600 go graphics card.
You have good ventilation to the laptop? (i.e. you don't have it running on a deep pile carpet, or on a big deep duvet or something?)
I tried the Nvidia drivers too but they dont work, it has to be the drivers from Toshiba.
Suggest you do a system restore, and if that does not help re-flash your BIOS
The link to the driver updates was good, but not for the laptop.

_I have recently installed nVidia drivers from toshiba site (84.00) and since than my system has severe problems with changing graphical modes when starting applications in pre-determined mode (such as 800x600)._
This problem affects my son mostly, as all older games are trying to run in 'Full screen mode' that fails to initialise properly.
Also I have noticed that in dxdiag the option about DirecrDraw settings shows that it is completely not supported by my graphic card acceleration.
Any ideas on how to resolve the problem desperately needed.
    Relevant nformation:
Graphic card - nVidia GeForce GO 7600 driver: 6.14.0010.8400
    System Memory - 3MB
    O/S - Win XP Professional 5.1 build 2600

Have you installed the latest BIOS?
You could try reverting back to the original driver, it should be in C:\TOSAPINS. Or just Rollback the driver in Device Manager. Or revert back to a previous System Restore Point.

  • Satellite P100-387: VT not available & USB flash booting issue

    Hi everybody,
I bought this notebook but, I am very dissatisfied with following functions:
Processor supports VT (virtualization technology) but in bios isn't option for enable or disable and tools like securable (grc.com) or others show that this option is disabled.
I check bios version. My is last but i try to find out any information on bios vendor web and there is tool for bios check.
With this I discover that my bios isn't last and I need pay 38$ for access (3months) to new version.
I cannot boot from flash disks.
I am thinking about netbook and on first time I thing about toshiba nb 100.
But now I am not sure that it is good idea.
Do you know how to solve this problems?
    Celebril

    I can tell you only what this FAQ says;
Did the P100 series support the "Intel Virtualization Technology" (Intel VT)?
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB7C02150000R02.htm
I dont know why the 3rd parties tools provide other results but why should I believe to some 3rd party tools which are not tested with this notebook??
    You are right;
its strange that two applications provide this result but in my opinion it could be possible that the software cannot read and scan the BIOS settings properly
Finally, Toshiba said that this VT option is enabled and some 3rd party tools said that its not enabled
In my opinion I would believe to Toshiba
PS: if you have an older BIOS then you should udpate it firstly!!!
