Cannot install programs from installation

I'm trying to get the THX console to install from my X-fi Extreme Gamer's install cd. When I hit click setup I get this message:
Setup has experienced an error.
Please do the following:
-Close any running programs
-Empty your temporary folder
Check your Internet connection (Internet-based Setups)
Then try to run the Setup again.
Error code: -6003
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Also, same goes for .isos downloaded of the install cd, so it's not a bad cd,
and it seems to be the case for many other auxillary programs on the CD

I have the same problem with my audigy 4. I can see several programs on the cd such as wave studio, surround mixer, eax console etc. but i cannot select these in the main installation menu. I want to use the eax console's karaoke function so I can lower pitch and stretch time etc. In the main installation menu I can only select the audigy 4 drivers and Mediasource. Why cant I install the other software?
Did you disable your onboard audio controller before installing the SB card?

I got the macbook from a friend a few years ago and it already had OSX Lion installed. Whenever it boots from the Snow Leopard disc it says it cannot install from disc. Is there anythingI can do or should I take it to an Apple store to get them to boot OSX Lion for me?

Insert your Snow Leopard disc and restart, press and hold the C key as soon as you hearthe startup chime, hold C until you see the Apple Logo. When your computer starts up you'll be at the first install screen, choose your language and click the arrow to go to the next screen. This screen has a menu bar, from the Utilities menu select Disk Utility, select your hard drive, this is the one with the manufacturers name or numbers, click the partition tab and then delete any existing partitions by selecting them and clicking the minus. In the drop down box select one partition and click apply. Name your hard drive and click erase. When it's done quit DU and go back to the installer, install Snow Leopard. When the installer is done and the computer is back up and running run Software Update to get to 10.6.8

I changed my wireless broadband to a landline-base DSL wifi and it works like a charm. Sun was the culprit even you fiddle with its router and disable firewall, it won't work.
try changing yours too and let me know how it goes.

  • Cannot install program after begin removed from Group Policy published programs

    Hello,
We recently attempted to publish a program through Group Policy to allow users to install it but due to some requirements of the installer, it did not work. We removed it as a published program and now someone who attempted to install it through that method
cannot install the program at all. When they attempt to run the MSI from their local machine (not from a server share) they get an error saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable". We tried putting a copy
of the MSI in the network location it was looking for (which is where it was when it was a published program) and ran in to the same errors as before when it was a published program.
When we ran the installer as a different user that had admin access the program installed correctly and without issue. To avoid having to run as a different user in case the computer only has one admin account, is there a way to clear the user account's
memory of the msi or something?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge, deployed msi application will be installed before the computer allows a user to logon if you choose Assign. Otherwise, you need to use Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features\install a program from internet to get the msi
    installed.
Did you mean to deploy a MSI file to each computers? Is it not the method written in this KB?

If you just deploy a file from a shared network location, make sure that all your users has the permission to access the Network location.
Also, please check the policy under Applocker if there is any policy block the installation of MSI for your domain user except the admin account.

  • Optical drive won't install programs from CDs

I have a S300-EZ2501.  I downgraded my installation from Vista Business to XP Pro.
My drive has stopped installing programs that come on CDs.  I did not have this problem while loading all my software onto the laptop.  Now, however, when I insert an installation CD into the drive, it attempts to read the CD, but cannot initialize the Autorun file, so nothing happens.  I've tried running the install from the Run line, or by browsing to the file, but that does not work either.  I also tried deleting the device from my system and reinstalling; that didn't work either.
Are there any registry settings for the optical drive that I can check?  I want to make sure that the system is pointing to the correct location.
    Thank you.
    Barry L. Lippitt

I tried to restore to earlier settings, but that did not help.
If I try to doubleclick on the executable file on the CD, the hard drive light goes on, but not the external drive light.
I'm starting to think this is a WindowsXP problem and not a drive problem.  I copied the contents of one of the program CDs to my hard drive, and tried installing from that directory.  When I double-click on the Setup.exe file, there is sporadic hard drive flashing light, but nothing happens.  The programs install from .exe files and not .msi files, so its not a Windows Installer problem.  What other settings can I check that affect running setup programs on the laptop?
As I'm typing this, all of a sudden the executable program screen appeared on the laptop (after about 10 minutes).  Maybe it will install, but that's a very long time before it happens.
Nothing more happened (10 more minutes).  When I closed the screens fromy my toolbar, I received a popup telling me that I am ending the "nonresponsive program 32-bit Setup Launcher."  I think there is a problem with this file; when I tried to install other programs (16-bit, from earlier versions) and had to close them down, I received messages that the 16-bit system was unstable.
Is there a way to repair these files on my laptop?  What might have destabilized them?
As a reminder back to the beginning of this thread, my laptop came with Vista Business installed, but I downgraded from the restore CD to WinXP Pro.

  • Install program from pc-to nokia n9??

hey, when you download a program / game for the Nokia N9 to the data and will then install / add it into the phone, in which folder should you put it? for when you connect the mobile to data will only pictures, movies, media and text folders until nothing else! can someone please help me I do not understand anything!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You talking about apps that aren't from Nokia Store?
If you talk about installing apps From Nokia Store web-page by downloading with the PC that can't be done as N9 is not supported by the OVI/Nokia Suite.
    For outside apps:
First you will need to download file-manager from Nokia store (filebox good free one).
Then you need to go settings -> applications -> installations -> allow other than only Nokia store.
Then you can attach the phone as mass memory and copy the application install file to Download folder and use the file-manager app to launch the installation from that folder.
note. that it's not really recommended to install applications outside from Nokia Store as it wont be as safe.

Download the offline installer from http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1195540 and save it to disk.
In order to make sure that no previous installer is running, restart your computer, then run the downloaded installer.

  • Successful download, cannot install, have no installer, cannot find one

First, I have my serial number. Second, I cannot get my Creative Suite installed. I cannot get help from Adobe directly, they send me to this forum. I apologize in advance as I am pretty sure this is not the right place to ask the question. My house burned down in a Rocky Mountain wildfire, and my brand new Creative Suite disk with it. I have finally gotten Adobe to assist in getting the download but I cannot launch it. I have not found any installer. When I trace back through the system logs the download does not show up in the Akami downloader although I have two complete error-less downloads now. Can anyone help?

what product are you trying to install?
    what's your os?
what file(s) (names and extensions) did you download and what file size(s) are shown on your hd?

  • Cannot install program because newer version already exists?

    Hello,
I'm trying to install fontographer but it says it cannot install on this disk because a newer version of the program is already installed.
I find this quite strange because I've completely removed every single file of the other version, but still it says it's installed.
Anyone knows how I can solve thi problem?
Many thanks to anyone who is willing to help me.
    Greetz,
    Finn.

Use the developers method to completely uninstall the newer version of the program.
Sometimes a program will leave it's preference files because you might be uninstalling and reinstalling the same version to fix a software issue. The older version see's the newer version preference files and gives the errors.
Use the free Easy Find and find the programs file(s) and/or just remove them from your ~/Library/Preferences folder by Finder > Go to Folder > /Library/Preferences
There may be files in other locations as well. Perhaps it's best to ask the developer where all the files are for completel removal.

  • Cannot install programs or updates

when i try to install software or updates, when it gets to the stage where you are asked to select a destination volume, i have no choices. just a blank white box. and the continue button is disabled, until i select a destination. but no volume drive is showing up. thus i cannot continue with the installations.
any one know whats causing this problem?

Follow Carolyn's suggestions, particularly regarding repairing your hard disk from the install disk.
Only when this has been successful should you bear the following in mind when updating/installing:
There are no guarantees, but following this procedure when installing updates and upgrades on your Mac will go a long way towards avoiding unpleasant after effects and ‘post-update stress disorder’.
It is also worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
    1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
    2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
    3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site. If your car runs on gasoline you would not want to fill the tank with diesel, so don’t try to install the PPC updater on an Intel Mac!
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.4.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.4.9 to 10.4.10. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
    Now proceed as follows:
    4. Close all applications.
    5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
    7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
    8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious!
    9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them 10.4.10. compliant. Give them a weeks or two while you regularly check their websites for updates. This applies particularly to plug-ins for Safari 3.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
