Cannot install QuickTime 7 and i tunes

I have read suggestions about logging out users, restarting, and making sure my firewall is ok. Still get registry error and missing key messages. Now I cannot access itunes because it needs QT and I cannot install it! Frustrated!!!

First, before you proceed you should have a valid backup of any tracks you've purchased from the iTunes Store or that would otherwise be difficult to replace, just in case something goes more seriously wrong with your system.
As to the problem, the steps on this Apple KnowledgeBase article may help:
Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime software in Windows
If you continue to have problems with the 1905 error blocking uninstallation, I ran across this suggestion on another web site and it might help you (no guarantees since I haven't tried it myself):
Click the Start" button
Select the Run command
Type the following:
regsvr32 /u QtoControl.dll
You should see a small dialog box confirming that it succeeded.
Then follow the instructions at the above web page to completely uninstall iTunes and QuickTime. Then see if you can reinstall iTunes and get it to work.
Hope this helps.

  • I have iPhone 4S, latest OS installed. Everytime I have updates in app store, I get "cannot install livingsocial and 6 other..." I deleted livingsocial weeks ago

I have an iPhone 4S, with the latest OS, 5.01 I believe it is. Most everything is great except everytime I have updates to download and install through the app store, I get a message saying "cannot install livingsocial and 6 other apps." The issue is that I only had livingsocial for a couple weeks then deleted it. That was a few weeks ago. Also I have no idea what the other 6 are. All my updates install fine, I just keep getting this message. And livingsocial and whatever the other 6 apps are never show up in the updates section, I just keep getting the stupid message. I click ok and it goes away. How do I get it to stop trying to install these apps? I've seen a ton of information about something similar happening on sync, but my issue is occurring during AppStore updates for which I can find no information!

That seems like a really odd coincidence that both ours say "and 6 other apps." As far as the app waiting thing, I've never tried tapping it twice, but I would hold down til all the apps started shaking to move or delete, but this one is the only one with no x for delete, so when I tap it nothing happens. I have tapped it repeatedly but never exactly twice. But after a short while, no matter what I do, it will just disappear on its own. In fact, I saw your "tap twice" message very soon after you posted it and was going to try it, but it had already disappeared by then.

  • Help! Once More: Installing Quicktime (and thus, ultimately I-Tunes) on PC

I just bought an I-phone and it works wonderfully with my Mac at work. However, I cannot install any version of Quicktime on my computer (I've tried w/Itunes and standalone).
I've been to the websites for both Apple and PC which offer solutions. I've tried them all on the Apple site. Even after
    1. Completely remove iTunes and QuickTime
    2. Empty your Temp directory and restart
    3. Clean up iTunes installer files on the computer
    4. Download QuickTime Standalone Installer
    5. Disable other conflicting software
    6. Make sure your folder names don't contain strange characters
I am still getting this error message: ""A network error occured while attempting to read from the file: C:\\WINDOWS\Installer\QuickTime.msi"
I'm also aware of a similar discussion about this on a thread: iTunes.msi
Nothing seems to solve my dilemma. Anyone have any suggestions?

it is unanswered because the comment hasnt solved my
    question
    Hi helpimstuck!
It could be that when your original quicktime was removed it was not removed completely. I would try to install QT again then look for it in Add/Remove programmes. Try to repair if you get given the option, or if not try removing again.
Then, download the standalone QT to your desktop. Switch off antivirus and spy software and try a fresh install of QT. See if it works then.

  • Cannot Install QuickTime at all

I have a vicious round-robin going. I bout an iPod Nano. To load iTune, you need to install Quicktime 7. I used to have Quicktime until something got corrupted and I had to manually uninstall Quicktime (QT did not have an Uninstaller). When I attempt to install QT, it says that it cannot install because I have to remove an old copy of QT. I removed Quicktuime, there is no Apple folder anywhere onmy computer, and I removed all references to APPLE in my registry. I bought Norton Utilities to clean my registry and remove anything that points nowhere. There is no QT on my computer. Meanwhile, Apple offer no support for this situation - all it tells you is to contact your Tech Support Gorup. That is not support - it is avoidance. Can anyone help on how to get around this?

Okay ... go back into your CleanUp. *(Don't remove anything this time.* We're having a look.)
At the top of the CleanUp window, are there any entries without a program name? In particular, we're looking for lines in CleanUp that start with (All Users) and have no name of a program, but then give a version number in square brackets.
Do you see any of those? If so, what version numbers do they have? Precise version numbers please. (When reporting back with the version numbers, best not to include the square brackets ... the forum software automatically converts anything inside square brackets into a hyperlink. Harmless, but disconcerting if you aren't expecting it.)
(We're checking on the version numbers for lines lacking a name of a program, because if a .msi file is damaged enough, the name for it won't show up in CleanUp even though there will be an entry in the list of programs in CleanUp.)

Hi. I downloaded the itunes + quicktime installer (the latest version), and e veyrthing goes smooth and well until i hit the Quicktime installation part. First, an error pops up...

let's try enlisting some additional technical help with this one.
let's try getting a installer log to someone who can interpret installer logs.
Start menu -> Run... In the text field of the dialog that comes up, type in "cmd" and hit return.
In the command prompt dialog that comes up, find the iTunes installer on your desktop and drag it to this window. Then on the same line type in a space and then the following:
    /Verbose"c:\log.txt" /V"ENABLE_QTLOGGING=TRUE"
There is no space between the e in Verbose and the double quote ("). There is no space between the V"Enable...
    Hit return.
The installer will create two log files:
    C:\log.txt and C:\qt.log
Find those files and send them to this email address Put the URL to this discussion thread into the email, so that the person who gets it has some context. Let them know the version of itunes you’re trying to install, too … in general, give as much info as you can.

  • What is error 2502,& 2503 when installing Quicktime and gaming related drivers/software

Windows 8 has just been re-installed so I thought that would fix the problem. I had purchased a new XFX graphics card,,, free games. I couldn't download or play the games because of errors 2502 and 2503. After this new os installation, I thought this would fix any problems,,,but,, Quicktime won't install and I absolutely cannot find an answer for this,,,Please HELP!!!! direction, anything.  -Thanks, JoeOutHere

I'm having the same problem, but so far, none of the solutions I've seen on other threads have worked. I've made sure that I have permissions on everything, but the registry still won't give me access. I'm starting to think that my registry (or at least any keys associated to QuickTime*) might be corrupted.
By the way BDude004, in any earlier versions of iTunes, did you have any errors pop up, talking about errors changing filetypes? that happened to me often, and I'm wondering if it was a precursor to this registry problem.
    * I say this because I get the same "Cannot open QuickTime.[some QT associated filetype]: Error while opening key." message whenever I click on that key in the registry editor.

  • Cannot install Quicktime

I've had an enforced upgrade (due to iPhone) go bad on me!
I've upgraded to iTunes 8.1.1 - as suggested to match my new iPhone. However, I can't install Quicktime in order to run it! It gets to the point where it's installing files (around 12%) and then fails suddenly - with the following messages:
"There were errors installing the software"
    "Please try installing again"
I've even tried with older versions of Quicktime (from 7.3.1 upwards) but still, no dice.
I've reset PRAM, deleted and reinstalled itunes, deleted all my old quicktime files. No joy.
Any help would be most appreciated, thanks in advance!

    Welcome to the forums!
deleted all my old quicktime files
Bad move, as it is an integrated part of the OS.
Try running the 10.4.11 COMBO installer again.
Don't forget to use the Combo Updater, and to download the correct version for your Mac (PPC or Intel):

  • I cannot install Quicktime at all.

Since the update of quicktime did not install by itself from the Software update, I downloaded it manually and tried installing it. Works fine throughout most of the install, but around 98 - 99% the install freezes and a couple of minutes after takes me to the last step of the installation and says "Installation failed, please try again"
I tried almost everything to fix this problem, and nothing seems to work (deleted components the old QT etc.), could someone please help me? Cheers in advance.
p.s because I don't have a quicktime at all (because im unable to install the older quicktime either no because of the same problem) I cant access iMovie, Skype etc. Please Help (i'm os x 10.4.11 btw)

All Macs come w/2 System DVDs and the OS preinstalled - Install disc 1 and Install disc 2. Therefore, I strongly suggest that you locate your system DVDs as Install disc 1 is used for troubleshooting. Without these DVDs all you really have is a glorified doorstop when something goes wrong.
Click on the link in my original post as it will tell you all you need to know to perform an A&I.
You can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available.
If you're not in the US, you may need to go through the regional Apple Store that serves your location to find the contact number. Here's a list of links to all of those -

  • Cannot install quicktime due to newer version already installed

I'm in desperate need of help. I've been trying to install Itunes for the last 4 nights but QUICKTIME is messing it up. I keep getting the error that a newer version of QUICKTIME is already installed and the installation can't continue.
I've been scouring the internet for hours over several nights to find a solution without luck.
There is no entry in the Programs uninstaller for Quicktime.
I've scoured all my HDs for quicktime and removed all entries
I've run several reg cleaners and regedit to clean out any reference to Quicktime
I've used the 'how to uninstall quicktime' support page and used the MS install cleanup utility, cleaned out temp files, used JV Powertools to clean out Quicktime.
I've used both the standalone installer and the Itunes installer
I've tried using safemode to install but the installer doesn't work in safe mode
I've tried uninstalling several codecs in the chance that they are somehow effecting this
I'm at the end of my rope and both me and the internet appear to be out of ideas. Of course, I need to get Quicktime on to use Itunes and my Itouch.
I'm running a fully updated Vista install. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am having the same problem. I am using Windows XP on an HP Media Center PC m7167c. I have tried everything to fix the issue. Nothing works. HEY APPLE, Can you please fix your QuickTime installer to override the "Newer Version Already Installed" message when there is no QuickTime installed. This problem has been going on for over a year. Please provide an easy alternative way to FORCE INSTALL QUICKTIME. Thanks

  • Windows 7 Upgrade: Cannot install Rescue and Recovery 4.3

I recently upgraded my T500 from Vista to Windows 7.
I have downloaded the following Lenovo software: Lenovo Thinkvantage Software Toolbox and Lenovo System Update 4.
I would also like to install Rescue and Recovery 4.3.  I downloaded the program from Lenovo's site, but I cannot get it to install properly.  I keep getting an error indicating that Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x64) SP1 must be installed.  I downloaded this from Microsoft's site and installed it, but I keep getting the same error.
    And help???

Hi guys I have the same problem, however after installing the 2005 version of the package from the link provided by lenovo here (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4Q2QAK&AID=10429688&PID=3719336&...
I went to the control panel and checked what version of this package is installed. The case was that there were 3 versions of Visual C++ 2005 redistributable already installed.  This is a fresh installation of Win7 - 64bit
I removed all of them and reinstalled the one suggested by lenovo.
    The problem still continues.
I also noticed the following article from about the same time the package was released in 2006 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920854
Could it be that the RnR tool can not detect the redistributable package?
So far I have no idea how to solve this. Any help is appreciated.

  • Unable to install Quicktime and itunes

    Hi,
I am getting beyond despair and desperate for help on this please (I have spent hours and hours and still no further forward).
I am running XP with service pack 3 installed. Windows updates are up to date.
When iTunes 9 first came out it wanted to update but returned an error: -
"The installation of QuickTime did not complete successfully. ITunes requires QuickTime"
I therefore took the advice posted on Apples support site to download and install QuickTime separately.
Attempting the Quicktime installation first, after installing the Apple Application Support and Apple Software Update elements (I can see these in the add/remove programmes utlility) the installation crashes with the error message-
"The installer encountered errors before the required operation for QuickTime could be completed. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again".
I have since followed the advice here: -
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA44469
    and here
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926
    - this includes all items through to and including the Additional Troubleshooting.
In addition, I have searched for and deleted all the .msi files relating to iTunes, QuickTime etc.
One thing that I could not do is to attempt an install through Safe Mode. Windows would not allow it (even though I was logged on as administrator).
Where do I go from here?
Please help -life's too short to loose 2 days getting Itune to work!

    Great catch, Diane!
Following hard drive problem a few months ago, I had reinstalled XP onto a new primary drive, labeled F. A second drive is also installed on the machine, labeled C, which had come from another computer. This also has a copy of XP in it, although it does not boot from this drive. In this case however, the path for the msiexec service was pointing to the old C drive.
Crikey. I've seen documentation on that sort of thing as a possible cause of Invalid Drive installation error messages, but I don't think I've ever seen it reported before "in the flesh" (as it were). I don't think I'd have thought to check on that at all with your error messages.
Glad you got things working, Diane. Many thanks for letting us know about your resolution.
