  • Cannot install Reader in Windows 7

I have a Windows 7 ultimate OS. I cannot install Reader on it. I have Flash player on it. but some how the reader isn't getting installed.
When i run the setup file of Reader, it starts its processing phase, as it should. But after the completion of it, it quits. Its like the actual installation doesn't get evoke the main setup file. The surprising factor here is that there is no notification about it. No error messages and no warnings. Its just stops its self after the processing phase gets over.
Another surprising factor is that when i try to install the reader through the download manager of adobe, it downloads the application taking the correct time, and when the time comes for installation it completes it fast and shows me that it was successful with a green tick.
    please help me guys....

Try to download this installer http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3/enu/AdbeRdr930_en_US.msi, then run it as an Administrator user.

Download the offline installer from http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1195540 and save it to disk.
In order to make sure that no previous installer is running, restart your computer, then run the downloaded installer.

  • Cannot Install Reader 9.2

When installation starts I get the message that installation cannot continue because a program is running that needs to be updated.  It says to shut down the program and try again.  The program is defined as "program manager".  I have shut down everything I can easily shut down, including virus protection, and still get same message.  I have no clue what needs to be shutdown.  Any idea what program needs to be stopped???

    Thanks for your suggestion!
I may try that at a future date, but for now I think I will forget about Ver. 9.2.  I have 9.1 and it does everything I need.  I don't want to get involved in chasing system problems right now.  I usually use Adobe Update to update files and I do that from within the adobe reader.  That has always worked up until now.
To do what you suggest I assume I would need to go to adobe.com and install from there.  Since I have tried to install 9.2 several times it might be somewhere on my hard drive, but I do not know how to locate it.  Or, it may be removed when the install fails.  Who knows, I don't.

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of previous versions of Reader:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
and run it immediately after restarting your computer.

  • Install Reader 9

I cannot install Reader 9.0, 9.30 or 9.33, downloaded from the Adobe site with Firefox, and installing on Windows XP.
I get an error message saying " the file ......Acroread 9.0.msi is not a valid installation package for the product Reader 7.0.5. "
Every file comes up with a similar message, looking for the Version 7.0.5 msi file.
What on earth is going on? How do I install? I need a full installation, not just an upgrade, because I deleted version 8, thinking that it would interfere with version 9. (silly move, in hindsight!)

The Windows Installer Cleanup Utility mentioned by Michael is not longer supplied by Microsoft, but it can still be obtained by various 3rd-part download sites such as http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html

I just installed iTunes on my new laptop.  When I click on the desktop icon I receive a pop up that says "The file iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes".  I have no idea what this means or what to do about it.  I can't even find a file on my computer like the one referred to in the pop up.  I am currently considering keeping my old laptop if it is the only way for me to continue to access iTunes.  What should I do to fix this?

What version of iTunes are you using? An .itl file is something that Windows uses, or very old versions of iTunes on Mac. The library file on Macs is now .xml and has been since late iTunes 4.
Is iTunes running ok without any problems after you OK that message? If it is, then you may be able to ignore it if you can't account for why you're getting it. But make sure you take backups in case something happens in the future.

On my old iTunes sofwear iTune store would not open. I uninstalled iTunes and downloaded the new updates and installed it. Now I get a message that said " The file iTunes Libary.itl" cannot be read becouse it was created by a newer version of iTunes.I did everything it said to do inarticle HT1923 Removing and reinstalling iTunes, Quick Time, and other sofware components for Windows Vista or Windows 7. Now what?

Unless you've recently attempted to downgrade iTunes this is probably a sign of a corrupt library file. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.
