Cannot install Realtek HD Audio driver! HELP!

Hi Everyone,
I'm running into a big problem with my Realtek HD Audio setup. After windows installation, it's got the typical Legacy codecs etc and "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus" with a yellow exclamation mark. None of them has any drivers associated with it. Funny thing is, I cannot uninstall any one of them. All the Leagcy stuff has no uninstall option, the High Definition Audio Bus does have an uninstall option, but it does absolutely nothing. Install new driver, it won't allow that either. Clicking on them does nothing.
I got the latest setup driver from Realtek and tried to run it, it gives me the "Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure" everytime. And I have already installed the UAA. (KB888111)
Finally I found a way to uninstall all of the Legacy codecs etc except the Auido Device on HD thing. Restarted the computer hoping windows will try to reinstall, nope, cannot find anything. So now I'm left with only the Audio Device on HD Audio Bus.
When I disable the HD Audio from the BIOS, it leaves me with no Sound, Video, and Game Controllers. So it only shows up when I enable it in the BIOS, and yet I cannot install a new driver or uninstall it, though I can "disable" it . I can also get into Properties and there is no drivers. Please help!

Hope I'm not missing any info. Thanks!

just thought i would add my experience to this thread on th eoff chance that it saves someone the headache i've just been through. Admittedly though it was my own lack of thinking (aka 'beer') that was the problem in the end.
So...
I decided to do  fresh install of XP +SP3
All went smoothly except i could not get HD sound. Looking on google and this forum it seemed there was some problem with SP3 and the realtek HD drivers, so i spent ages playing around install and uninstalling the audio drivers in different orders to try and get the damn sound to come out through my HD TV. Normal sound through the stereo jack was working, just not the sound through the HDMI cable into my TV. (YOu might have already guessed now what silly mistake i was making). I also found an audio device in Device manager that i could not find any drivers for.
Anyway, the answer was that the device i needed was the nought to do with my MSI motherboard, but the audio output that goes through the HDMI cable on my gfx card. I can't believe i spent so long trying to get HD sound and all i needed to do was update the mysterious audio device with ATI drivers (which windows could do automatically once i'd installed the ATI gfx drivers). Serves me right for trying to do a fresh install after a belly full of beer. idiot.
All working fine now.

Microsoft Bus Driver should be loaded in your system before installing Realtek HD Audio Driver
This is the error message that I got when I tried to install the original Realtek drivers! Removed/installed the new WXP media center 2005, everything was fine but the modem and the sound, for the modem no problem but for the sound...(sight) I even downloaded new drivers on the internet and THEY WORKED!
But when I try next time to open my computer I get all the time a blue screen then it shuts down? What is wrong? I got everything original and I followed the step. What should I do?
By the way I got an Satellite M70 - 168 laptop.

    Hi
Someone get this similar error message on his notebook OSs and according to the information the Microsoft patch should helps to sort it out.
Found this useful knowledge base article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;835221
This document advice to install the KB835221 patch but that is only officially available by talking to Microsoft technical support!
But dont worry buddy. The Google search engine is the key!
Try to search for this KB835221 patch and Im sure you will find the right one!
The required UAA drivers in the Microsoft documents are not included with XP SP2 or SP1, so it's a useful QFE to have around if you want to use newer sound cards like the Realtek HD Audio.
PS: If the Q835221 didn't help then you can also try the updated driver from Microsoft Q888111 article, which has 4 versions depending on your OS and installed service pack.
    Good luck!

  • Realtek HD Audio Driver Not Completing install - error message

Could I just say first that I am far from being technical minded so please allow for possible lapses in info.
Just done another complete reinstall of Win XP - formatted drive etc.
However unlike on previous instances the Realtek HD Audio driver has not installed.
I have downloaded the latest version - 5.10.0.5605 but this too at  very near the end of installation gives the message Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure [Error Code 0xE0000227]
I have the G33M Series MS-7357(v1.X) Mainboard with Intel Core 2 Duo
Hope this is enough info to anyone to offer advice.

  • Realtek HD Audio driver disappears after installing an ATI Radeon graphics card

My Realtek HD Audio driver disappears (from both the Vista "Sound Manager" and the "Device Manager") and is replaced by an ATI HD Audio driver after installing an ATI  Radeon 5450 graphics card.  I've tried un-installing the ATI Audio driver and re-installing the Realtek Audio driver.  But, upon rebooting, Vista automatically re-installs the ATI Audio driver (and the Realtek Audio driver, which I just re-installed, is no where to be found after rebooting).  I'm using an HP a6110n desktop running Windows Vista.

    Hi:
I bet you were unpleasantly surprised by that!
    The fix is simple:
Go into your system setup (BIOS) using the F10 key.
Find your device configuration menu. In that menu there should be a setting for your onboard audio. It is probably set to Auto.
Change the setting to Enabled. Hit the F10, key there and again when you save your settings and exit.
Now your onboard audio will be back and your HDMI out audio on your graphics card should work too when you need it.
What happened was when you installed the Video card with HDMI out, there is an audio chip on the video card for HDMI. The PC sensing a new sound card, just disabled the onboard sound card because it thought you didn't want to use the onboard card anymore.
Changing the BIOS setting to enabled tells the PC to use the onboard audio card as well as any others you may have installed.

  • No sound from laptop speakers after Windows update installed Realtek HD Audio

Laptop is HP6626US with Windows Vista 32 bit SP2.
I had an error with Windows Update which was recently fixed.  When I ran the update Realtek HD Audio was installed, among many other items.  I now have the red circle white X by my speaker icon and do not get any sound out of internal speakers.
    The Driver version is 6.0.1.6662
    Direct X version 11.0
    Audio Codec ALC 268
In Device Manager Under Sound, video and game controllers Realtek HD Audio is listed with Unimodem Half Duplex Audio Device if that is helpful.
    Help Appreciated.

    Hello,PaulM25.
I see that you're having an issue with the sound on your notebook. Typically this means the Drivers don't exist and can also be considered as a hardware issue.
I have a couple of questions for you before we get going.
This is your notebook (HP Pavilion dv6626us Entertainment) correct?
Did this issue occur after you updated the audio drivers?
Now, you can go ahead and try these steps to resolve the issue.
Please completely remove the drivers for the Audio Device in Device Manager and “Control Panel – Programs and Features”.
    Reboot the computer.
Please check if the device will be installed automatically after the computer starts. If not, please go to Device Manager and then navigate to the Audio Device, right click on it and choose “Update Driver software”
If the issue persists, please try to manually install the device driver which comes with the computer to see if it works. (You can also go to HP website to install the drivers. If you cannot find it, please give me the detail information of the device or the computer, such as brand, model, etc., I will help you search for the proper driver.)

  • Realtek HD audio driver updated

For my HP Media Center m7060n with Windows XP the HP site indicates the most updated driver is as of Sept 2005.  I am having problems with Power Director 9 which I bought a couple of weeks ago and their tech support believes one of the reasons is an out of date driver.  I am reluctant to use someone other than HP for the driver primarily due to it being from unknown sources and thus a risk, or at least a perceived risk.
Any ideas on whether or not the 2005 version is the best for my situation and if not how to update it?
Thanks.  This is my first time to try this forum.

I retried the effort and was successful at downloading and installing the new driver.  HOWEVER, now I have no sound.  Under control panel, sound and audio devices, in the audio tab, it now shows "no playback devices".  Here is what dxdiag showed before and after:

  • Microphone is not working on HPE 020be (Realtek HD audio driver)

    Hello,
One month ago I've bought a HPE 020. The microphone was working then, but since a week or 2 it isn't working anymore. I tried to update the driver, but without success (it is version 6.0.1.5910 at the moment). I checked the hardware and it seems ok. My headphone also only gives sound on the left side, while it is working on another PC.
Does anyone has a solution to this problem?
    Thx a lot!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hello,
    I found the solution myself.
I did a system reinstall from the factory image. After that I did the windows update and I installed all the updates except one. If you install the optional realtek driver update, then the microphone isn't working anymore. So, don't install that update and keep the original realtek audio driver version 6.0.1.5882 If you already did the install, then you can't go back to the original situation by installing version 6.0.1.5882, you really need a system restore.
I hope I helped you out with this.

  • Is it possible to install Realtek HD Audio Manager over BeatsAudio

    Hello,
I recently bought an HP Envy 700qe PC and I'm really happy with it and its specification except for the fact that comes with BeatsAudio. I tried setting it up like my previous e9240f desktop where you can manage the sorrund  speakers since I have dual z-5500's, but the sound is just horrible and somotimes there's no sound coming out of the sorround speakers. I tried installing the Realtek HD Audio Manager after deleting BeatsAudio, but nothing shows after I restart. My current system comes with an IDT High Definition Audio Codec so I'm thinking that's why it doesn't recognize the Realtek Codec when I download it.
Also, if there's no way to download the Realtek HD Audio Manager, will it be easier to just install an Asus Mio-892 HD Card or a Creative SB1350 or both just disable one decide which one is better even though I'm sure I won't be able to use Realtek HD Manager on the Creative Either. And also do these audio cards take too much power. My system has a 500watt power system or would I need to upgrade the power as well?
Any help would be highly appriciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello @Jccr510,
Yes that ASUS MIO-892 will indeed work on your computer and will give you the Realtek HD Audio Manager that you are looking for.

    Hello
I don't know for sure but maybe it has something to do with wrong installations order. The right installations order for this Satellite model is as follow:

CardBus Controll /Card Reader Driver Memory Stick 6.0.1.10

Have you started installing all stuff following this order? I don't have experience with Realtek drivers but maybe it is important to install all stuff in this specific order.

    Hi @dazed1 ,
I see by your post that you need the drivers for Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I would like to help.
I checked the website and there is a Full Feature and Basic driver available for Windows 7 64 bit.  HP LaserJet 1022n Printer Drivers. Did you try both of these drivers?
I would try and install the preinstalled Windows drivers, if you are having issues using the downloaded drivers on the site with your Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Run the Add a printer wizard from Devices and Printers.
You could also plug and play the drivers. Connect the printer to the computer and see if Windows will detect the printer and install the drivers automatically.
    Have a great day!

    Go back to the manufacturer.
    They have it.
They created the hardware, so they are actually the ones that would be responsible for driver packages.
... and yes, they do have it.

According to my DxDiag the audio drivers are over 3 years old now, and i cannot for the life of me find any IDT drivers on the internet that are compatible with my machine.
    Please help.

    Hello, @majogl
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you're looking to update the Audio driver. I will try to assist you with this.
Here is the drivers page for your notebook: HP Pavilion dv6-6130ec Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers.
The audio driver listed is the only one available for the notebook. I was however, able to find this one: IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver. Not much newer, but should work and is newer than the website.
Try it and see if it helps.
Thank you for posting on the HP forums.
