When I attempted to update iTunes to version 6.0.5, the iTunes part installs fine and then when the quicktime part is very close to finishing and I get an error saying
QuickTime installation failed:
Error Code : -3
Then, when I try to open iTunes I get an error message saying
QuickTime Unavailable
QuickTime was not found.
Quicktime is required to run iTunes. Please reinstall iTunes.
I have tried installing the standalone Quicktime installer but when i try that it says the the ISScript.msi is outdated and that I need to install the lastest version. I have no idea which one I am supposed to install because there are a lot of different ones.
Any help is appreciated.

I cannot install the new update iOS 8.2 on my husban'd Iphone 4S.
I hit "Install Now"
"Agree" to the terms
And then it does nothing, but freezes up. I swipe away the page to try again with the same results over and over.
Solutions I have tried:
I also have connected to iTunes, to download the new software, and no luck!
A system reboot by powering the phone off does not work. There is plenty of free space on his phone.
On the other hand, My Iphone 4S updated no problem doing exactly what it is suppose to do with updates.
So any help would be appreciated.

Try resetting the device: Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Slide to Unlock screen redisplays, hook the device up to iTunes, make sure that your husband's Apple/iTunes/iCloud ID is signed on to iTunes, then try the update again.

• Cannot install 10.6 Updates after Clean Install of OSX 10.6

I've made a clean install of Snow Leopard, to get a "clean" system for Lion. But now i cannot install any updates of 10.6. After the download, there is always a problem with Image data or other problems occur. So now it is not possible for me to ever install Lion. Is there another way to install Lion other than 10.6.8 as minimum requirement? Or is there an 10.6.8 that i can install? I've loaded every version (combo/server/etc.) of the updates but always the same problems.
Thanks

I used the original DVD's that came with my macbook to reinstall the OSX, it cleanses the HD and turns the macbook in the original state back.
Unless you erased the HD before you used the system disc, the Snow Leopard installer will just replace the existing OS components with those on the system disc. To restore the system to the default factory state, follow the instructions on page 3, "Restoring your computer to factory settings," of http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/Snow_Leopard_Installation_Instructions.pdf
If you did this, on restart you would first see the Setup Assistant, requiring you to create a new user account, network settings, etc., or to migrate from a previous system. If you did not see this, you did not do a 'clean' install.

• Cannot download Iphoto after updated to Yosemite

I cannot update Iphoto anymore after updated to Yosemite. The system popped up a small window and showed that: update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. But it is my own account, I just changed the password.
Please help me to solve this problem.

That means, that your AppleID is not associated with the iPhoto version you have installed.
Which version of iPhoto do you currently have? Sign into the App Store with your Apple ID (in the Store" menu).
If iPhoto came preinstalled on your Mac, check the "Purchases" tab of the App Store, if there is an "Accept" button besides iPhoto. If yes, accept iPhoto to associate it with your Apple ID. Then try again to update.
If that does not work, uninstall iPhoto - move the iPhoto app from the Applications folder to the Trash and then go to the "Featured" tab of the App Store, search for iPhoto using the Search field, then press the "Get" button to install iPhoto again, this time with your current AppleID:

• I cannot run iPhoto after update to Yosemite. I cannot update iPhoto because the application store does not have any iPhoto update available. Anyone can advice how to overcome this hassle?

After update to Yosemite 10.10.3 the iPhoto program icon is banned and there is an error message that an update is required to run iPhoto, but the application store shows a message that iPhoto does not have any update available at this time. There is not even any iPhoto program available on the application store. Any suggestion on how to solve this annoyance?

Unfortunately, Apple has removed both iPhoto and Aperture from the Mac App Store so they cannot be downloaded anymore. This means you are forced to migrate to Photos (included in OS X 10.10.3) or, if this app does not include features you need, look for a different app.
Not true. Apple has removed both Apps from App Store so you cannot buy them anymore. But if you have any of these Apps already purchased in the past, then you can still download them on your Mac.

Open App Store, sign in with your Apple ID and go to Purchases tab. If you see iPhoto app listed there close down the App Store and do this steps as this is what worked for me:
Open Finder and go to Applications folder.
Locate iPhoto app
Drag iPhoto app from your Applications folder to Trash (NOTE: Do not emptied Trash yet)
Open App Store app and navigate to Purchases tab.
Click on Install button which is next to the iPhoto app (on the right hand side).
Once iPhoto is downloaded again, test it if its working for you. If all is ok, you can remove your Trash.

• Cannot install OS after erasing system

I recently erased my iMac as it kept shutting down with a kernel error. When I tried to reinstall the OS it again kept crashing. I have now removed all but the original 2 ram modules and it stays on but I cannot install the OS
I managed to get past the rotating globe and followed the instructions to install via internet (Mac came without any discs) I signed in with apple id and was given one otion, to install OS Mavericks. It then said I have not purchased mavericks on my apple ID and so cant install it, giving me no option than to cancel the download. There was an OS on the system when I bought it and I had upgraded this to Lion? but I have never used Mavericks. How do I get past this and install the OS please.
The iMac is an intel i3 system with just the 4GB of original ram installed
I have tried signing in to the apple store on other devices to try and purchase the free mavericks os but cannot seem to do this either
Thanks for any help that you can give

Contact Apple and purchase replacement discs for the computer. They should have been included from whomever you purchased it.
You can try Internet Recovery if your model is in this list: Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery. After installing the firmware update, if needed, here's what you will need to do:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

• Cannot install programs or updates

when i try to install software or updates, when it gets to the stage where you are asked to select a destination volume, i have no choices. just a blank white box. and the continue button is disabled, until i select a destination. but no volume drive is showing up. thus i cannot continue with the installations.
any one know whats causing this problem?

Follow Carolyn's suggestions, particularly regarding repairing your hard disk from the install disk.
Only when this has been successful should you bear the following in mind when updating/installing:
There are no guarantees, but following this procedure when installing updates and upgrades on your Mac will go a long way towards avoiding unpleasant after effects and ‘post-update stress disorder’.
It is also worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site. If your car runs on gasoline you would not want to fill the tank with diesel, so don’t try to install the PPC updater on an Intel Mac!
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.4.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.4.9 to 10.4.10. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
Now proceed as follows:
4. Close all applications.
5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious!
9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them 10.4.10. compliant. Give them a weeks or two while you regularly check their websites for updates. This applies particularly to plug-ins for Safari 3.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.

• Cannot send email after update on iphone 5

cannot send email from one account after update, states my password and/or user name incorrect. I have it written down,it's not incorrect.

After the iOS 7 update, in order to send email from my iPhone5 and my daughters (also from our iPads) I had do follow Apples reset instructions. Hold the HOME buttton and the START/AWAKE button until your device restarts and you see the Apple logo when your device restarts. You do not have to swipe the message bar which shows up sometimes as your iPhone is shutting down. Sadly to say, but on my daughters iPhone 5, I had to do this 5 times.
If you live near an Apple store, make them do it so that someone at Apple will send a fix for other people. I looked for a simple way to contact Apple and there is none. There is a series of prompts and links that are time consuming to be able to reach support about even a simple problem.

• I cannot delete cookies after updating to 9.0.1, also when opened, I have 2 new cookie files that disappear when FF is closed.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled 9.0.1, the same thing happens. Checked my Profile, cookies.sqlite is there when FF is closed or uninstalled. When installed and opened, I have 2 new files, cookies.sqlite-wal and cookies.sqlite-shm, along with cookies.sqlite. Is this the reason I can't delete cookies? Also I have, and have had enabled AdBlock Plus and Privacy Browsing. After updating, I can't post anything to FF Support (this is my 4th attempt, finally used Safari to post) and files under Tools, such as Clear History are accessible, I shouldn't have a History to delete.
(1st edit)
OK. I reinstalled FF 9.0.1 from Safari, but not directly from Mozilla. I used CNet, now things are working like they should. I have no cookies listed, except the ones I want. Private Browsing is working properly. However, I still have those 2 extra cookie files; -wal and -shm.
(2nd edit)
I spoke too soon. After accessing sites that I frequent, the 'ad' cookies are back (adbright, realmedia, 247realmedia) and the site cookies are eliminated, not there, gone. Now I can't login to anything and am back to Safari to access FF Support Forum. Do I have a bug? Someone please help, I'm desperate, I hate IE, Safari, Chrome, etc. They have neither the level of ad and pop-up elimination that Firefox has; nor, do they have the level of customization that Firefox has. The 2 extra cookie files, -wal and -shm, are still there when FF is open, and gone again when FF is closed. One more thing I noticed, I have a Chrome Support Application file in my Library. Could the Chrome cookie file interfere with FF cookies? I wouldn't think so, I have Safari, as well, and neither browser has ever interfaced with the other before.
(3rd edit)
I have uninstalled/reinstalled FF, all of my add-ons and also tried deleting the cookies.sqlite document from the FF Profile file, to no avail. I have counted, there are 14 sites listed in the Preferences>Privacy>Show Cookies pane (no pun intended) and they are all "ad" sites. These sites are also listed as blocked sites in Adblock Plus. Until someone answers, I give up, I don't know what else to do. There was only the one time that the cookies were gone from the Show Cookies pane, every other time I uninstalled/reinstalled anything, they were still there. So, until someone helps me, I'm stuck. The only thing I have not done is deleted the Profile file altogether. That is the last thing I want to do, unless I can save my bookmarks somewhere to move back after reinstallation. If this isn't rectified within a few days, I may just try that, too.

Do you have an extension like TACO (Abine) or TrackerBlock that maintains a set of OPT-OUT cookies?
* Targeted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out (TACO): https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/targeted-advertising-cookie-op/
* TrackerBlock: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/trackerblock/
* Beef Taco (Targeted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out): https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/beef-taco-targeted-advertising/
If you do then you need to disable or uninstall such an extension.
If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

• I cannot uninstall itunes version 10.7.0.21 from my laptop use of that I also cannot install the new update.

I cannot uninstall iTunes version 10.7.0.21 from my laptop (windows 7), therefore I cannot install the new iTunes version....!
Every time I try to do it, a "message" from the windows installer pops up saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable", I try to find the installation package "iTunes.msi" but I can never find it either...!
The funny part is, I can still use this version, but I would like the have the update, which can make my computer much faster than now!
Can someone help me out??

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

• HT1430 What to do if the message shows "cannot activate iphone" after updating ios5?

After updating to ios5, got the message "no sim card". I turn off and restart, then reset language, country or region, connect to itune, "cannot activate iphone" I dont know what's going on?

There are several possibilites:
Your security software (antivirus and firewall) is preventing iTunes from communicating with Apple's Activation server, gs.apple.com.
You have a redirect in your hosts file for gs.apple.com. Open the hosts file and delete any lines that contain gs.apple.com. For the location of the hosts file, on a Mac it's /etc/hosts, on Windows it's c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.
Your phone was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it from the carrier it was locked to, and updating it the phone became locked to the original carrier. For this there is no solution that can be discussed in an Apple forum.
