Cannot install request for administrator passwords, I am the only user and hence administrator
Win7 64bit: When I try to install Firefox it says you MAY not have the necessary permissions and asks for log in details, but I am the only user and hence the admin, but I dont use a password.

I am the the only user and the administrator for my laptop and I have forgotten my password so I can't make any changes or download any programs....
Reset Password using Recovery HD
Boot into Recovery Partition.
Start the computer,then press and hold down command and R keys to start into recovery partition.
When you see the Apple logo, release the keys.
Wait until you see OS X Utilities window shows up.
Move the mouse to the menubar at the top and click "Utilities", then select "Terminal"
from the drop down.
Terminal window will appear.
Type in resetpassword and press enter key on the keyboard.
Do not close the Terminal window
Reset Password Utility window will open with Macintosh HD selected.
Select the user account from the popup menu box.
Enter a new password.
Reenter the new password for the user.
Enter a hint.
Click the "Save" button.
Click in the menubar and select Restart. -
MAC OS X 10.6.8. I can download and install a new version, but I'd rather just update. I can only assume this has to do with computer settings but I could not find anything settings that seemed related to this issue.
I currently have Firefox 3.6.3. I don't use it all that often.If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

Unable to use iTunes for about a month on my PC

How do i amend this as i only have one account and one library. I cannot save new work or delete duplicate filesA belated reply, as the problems itunes has have discouraged me from using it much. If you uncheck the "read only" box, it doesn't stay that way! Next time you use it, the box comes up checked.
I'm still having that problem, even when I open iTunes as administrator.
I've yet to see the answer to this problem. I use itunes mostly to download audiobooks, and I'm ready to download more, and want to save them! -

Here are two screen shots to show you what I am seeing. The first screen shot shows it allowing me to select (highlighted in blue) my admin user (which is what I am locced in as). The second screen shot shows it allowing me to select the "Guest" user (highlighted in blue). However when I click on the user "Orion" nothing happens. It will not change to highlight that user.

I have installed the Windows 8 on my MacBook using BootCamp already, but I cannot install drivers for Windows now: I've got only BootCamp 3 disk and it doesn't goo even if I start it using compatibility options. And my BootCamp on Mac didn't offer me to burn cd with drivers for windows as I saw in many instructions. How can I resolve the problem? Thanks a lot.

running Windows7 any time I want to install FF4 beta right at the beginning a window opens up saying that I don't have enough privileges, and should choose a different user like admin, but even as "admin" the installation breaks up without further notice. I´m trying to install beta 8, but it happened with previous versions as well. By the way, I´m the only user and admin the same time.
Does it work if you right-click the Firefox installer and choose "Run as Administrator" ?

I am trying to install the OS Mavericks upgrade on my MAC and it requests for me to enter an administrator password. I do not use an an administrator password on the machine. Any ideas how to resolve this?
If you bought the machine new yourself, and did not enter a password when configuring it, leave the field blank.

I have a MacBook Pro with OS X Yosemit. MY safari will not open, it only comes up with a safari quit unexpectedly report. A new helper app appeared requesting my system password to download the helper. Stupidly I input the password, when I log off I can see the download icon for a split second still running asking to abort or continue. How do I sort this?

I am using iphone 4 and just updated the software on my mac but wanted to restore my calender/contacts/messages after backup. itunes is requesting for a password to restore backup but it is not accepting any of my iphone passwords. what password does it require? If i cannot remember this then how do i continue backup without the password request?
If you have a corporate Exchange account set up on the phone, the administrators can require encrypted backups. Try using your Exchange password.

Something keeps trying to download on my mac and I don't know what it is. It is not in the apple store and just comes out nowhere and request for my password to download something and I don't know what it is. How to make this stop? It pops up every single day.

I can, with 99.99% certainty, tell you that you are absolutely right in not wanting to download or install this "Helper," whatever it is (but we can be equally certain it would not "help" anything).
I cannot comment as to Oglethorpe's recommendation of 'adwaremedic'; I am unfamiliar with it. His links to the Apple discussion and support pages warrant your time and attention.
It might be really simple -- Trying looking in your Downloads folder, trash anything that you don't know with certainty is something you want to keep, and then Secure Empty your Trash. Then remove the AdBlock extension, LastPass, and Web of Trust extensions to Safari and re-boot. If the issue goes away, still be extraordinarily careful in the future.
Unfortunately, it's probably not going to be that simple to get rid of, in which case I'd then try the line by line editing in HT203987.
I have no further suggestions (other than a complete wipe and re-install...but that's a pain because trying to restore from Time Machine would simply ... restore the Mal).
For the rest of us, please post when you find a solution.
