Cannot Install Software_ Service Pack 1 or 2 needed_ I am running Service Pack

I am running the latest updated Service Pack 2 for XP. When I try to install my software via cd or download I get an error message from the easyinstall by Creative saying I have to have Service Pack or 2 to install?Confused? I cannot use my player without being able to install the software.... I have tried everything and still no luck. No word back from Creative and no anwers on the Creative site... HELP!!?joe?[email protected]

I uninstalled EMET notifier 3 to try out the new 5.0 tech preview. However when trying to install I get an error saying "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support
personnel or package vendor."
I tried installing 4.1 and get the same error. I am running Windows 8.1 Home Premium and have .Net 4 installed. I have turned on verbose logging, apologies for the massive amount of data but I didn't want anything to get missed.
The log file is below. Can anyone suggest what might be going wrong?

I am having exactly the same problem. But I also can't even uninstall EMET 3.0 or EMET 4.0 both of which I have installed on my machine. I get the same error message when I try to uninstall them !! I need to uninstall them so that I can install EMET 4.1
or EMET 5.0.
I have been trying to do this for more than a month but without any luck. So any help will be much appreciated.

iTunes 9.0.x is certainly compatible with Win7 64 bit since I use that exact setup on 3 different PCs. Two suggestions for your installation problems:
1)Download a new copy of the 64 bit installer from Apple then, instead of just running the itunes installer right click on it and try 'run as adminstrator'. In my experience that clears up a world of problems with program installation in Win7 and Vista. This is necessary even if you're already logged in as an administrator.
2) Try the previous version of iTunes (9.0.3). You can get a copy at http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php?old_itunes=54 again right click on the file and "run as administrator"

We can't know. You are not providing any system information or other details. Restart your system, make sure to sign in as admin, then try again.

Cannot install OS 10.6.3 on my MacBook currently running 10.5.8?

I have a MacBook 5,2, currently running OS X 10.5.8. I have the install DVD, but when I click the "Install Mac OS X" icon, before I can even accept the terms, I receive a message stating that "Mac OS X Snow Leopard cannot be installed on this computer."
Any ideas?

Be sure you meet the requirements for Snow Leopard:
Snow Leopard General requirements
Mac computer with an Intel processor
1GB of memory
5GB of available disk space
DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
If your model meets the requirements, then I would start by doing the following before trying to install Snow Leopard:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If all is well, then continue with the installation. Note that Snow Leopard will not erase your drive during the upgrade.
Upon completion of the upgrade be sure you repair permissions after you restart into Snow Leopard.

Cannot install itunes on PC-0serv pack prob-thanks in advance

Hi guys,I cannot install itunes on my home pc as says must have service pack 2 on windows XP when it uses windows installer to load the itunes program.I tried to install serv pack 2 but came up with invalid product key.I assume as it is a copied windows operating system,there is a conflict.
My quest is do i have to buy a new operating system to install the itunes program or is there a work around ??.Thanks for your help in advance.

If you're using a pirated version of Windows, we cannot help you here. Go out and buy a full, legal copy of Windows and reinstall. Then you should have no problems getting SP2 and then installing iTunes.
If you have a legal copy of Windows, you will have to reinstall from the installation CD as the install check from Microsoft clearly doesn't recognize that you have a valid installation.

Installing Patch 9.2.0.5: Weird "Stop Running Services" Screen

Hi to all.
I found this issue in several places, including this forum, but I never saw a working proposal for a satisfying solution. Installing Oracle Patch 9.2.0.5 over a 9.2.0.1-Installation on XP Pro, I was confronted with a "Stop Running Services" screen, that listed ALL running Windows Services, even the most basic ones, which are required for a working OS and cannot/should not be stopped. Of course I had stopped the Oracle listener and instance services (including the recovery service, omtsreco.exe).
I found using TASKLIST.EXE or LISTDLLS.EXE, that many Oracle DLLs like ORAPLS9.DLL were used by a command "svchost -k netsvcs". But I could not find out, where and for what reason this command is launched and how I can prevent this launching without hazarding the system. The string "netsvcs" can not be found in the registry, for instance.
At least, somehow I managed to do the job, but I cannot exactly recall all the steps I took! At the "Stop Running Services" screen I chose "Abort current component and continue installation", and after install finished (it said something like "install finished with errors" or that like), I was left with a non-functioning Oracle client. Whopee! It told me "Bad function entry point" when I tried to start SQL*Plus. Desperately, I started the patch installation a second time. THIS time I installed OUI 10.1.0.2 as a first step (which I did NOT during the first round), and then started patch install. Strangely, this time I was presented another flow of dialogs (Sorry, but I missed to make notes about the exact titles and the dialog flow), which took MUCH MUCH longer ("Analyzing Dependencies" for example, took 1.5 hours to complete), and I really do not know, how or whether I was confronted with a "Stop Running Services" issue), but after all I really managed to complete the second try successfully, and the client functions worked again (SQL*Plus reported the correct version, 9.2.0.5).
Before I'm driven through this hell again (I have to patch several workstations running 9.2.0.1), I'd like to know,
- Whether the issue has been solved, that the "Stop Running Services Screen" lists
most basic services like "Event Manager". Could it have been caused by using the
wrong OUI version or under what circumstances will it appear?
- Secondly, what is this mysterious "svchost -k netsvcs" (netsvcs = NETSerViCeS ?)
locking many of the DLL files in the Oracle "BIN" folder. It is definitely NOT
one of the Oracle listener or instance services (all of which start with "Oracle").
How can this service be disabled or be prevented from loading the Oracle DLLs?
Sorry for the long story and partially unclear details, since I do not recall all of the long installation session. Any input is welcome.

Ok, "netsvcs" CAN be found in the registry, but I used FINDSTR.EXE to seach a UNICODE .REG file, and of course had no hits. Meanwhile, I learned more about SVCHOST.EXE and it's service groups, one of which is "netsvcs". In HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SvcHost, I found a value and a key named "netsvcs", the value contains this string (abbreviated):
"6to4
AppMgmt
AudioSrv
Browser
CryptSvc
helpsvc
xmlprov
wscsvc
WmdmPmSN".
These are the symbolic names of the services presented to me in the "Stop Running Services" screen! Now it's clear, why this screen appears, since "svchost -k netsvcs" is the process locking the Oracle DLLs.
But the question remains: WHY does "svchost -k netsvcs" need access to Oracle DLLs? Which system or application setting controls whether svchosts tries to load the DLLs?

Cannot Install - Invalid Product Keycode Error

How does a person actually install Crystal Reports software, the program will not get past the first screen indicating the keycode is invalid or expired. We got 2 emails with 2 keycodes and they don't work either. This is very frustrating. We are installing Crystal Reports Professional XI Business Objects. I am not sure how to get a valid product code. I appreciate any assistance in this matter, it has been 3 days since we opened the box and still we cannot install it.

hey i'm having trouble installing safari 4.0.3 so that i can use itunes 9. when i open the install package just before installation, it gives me a warning saying that i cannot install safari 4.0.3 because i need to run mac os x 10.5.8 even though i'm running snow leopard. called apple but they cannot help since my warranty expired 3 days ago. If you right-click on the Quicktime app, and choose "Get Info" check to see if it's Version 10.0 if it is, its Quicktime X.
I just checked, and the final "Gold Master" developer build of Snow Leopard was 10A432 so you are using an older build, and I really think you should get the final release - otherwise you won't be able to run Software Update in the future, and you might run into problems with your version.

I cannot install Adobe Premiere Elements 11

Hi, please help. I cannot install Adobe Premiere Elements 11 on my laptop, I run IE10, I disabled my Anti-Virus software and inserted the Elements DVD. I click on 'Install Adobe Premiere Elements 11', I then select 'English (United States)' from the list of languages. It then starts the 'Preparing to install' process and states that it is 'Configuring Windows Installer'. However, I then get a 'Windows Installer' text box appear, with what appears to be lots of HTML text inside. I click on 'OK' at the bottom of the box and then it just returns to the first screen again. This is very frustrating and I cannot work out what is going wrong with the installation. I installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 from the same DVD with no problem

Do Group Managed Service Accounts require permissions to run service in question?

I'm testing out GMSA (Group Managed Service Accounts) in Windows 2012 R2. My domain and forest functional level is 2008 R2 (which I understand is the minimal functional level for GMSA support).
Question I have is if I create a new GMSA for a particular service, does the GMSA require permissions to run service? For example, SQL rights, IIS rights, etc...
Also, can they be used to run scheduled tasks? Thanks.

Cannot install windows 7 service pack 1 on my HPE-400z desktop

I have an HP hpe-400z desktop pc. It is running windows 7 home premium operating system. Ever since Windows 7 SP1 came out, my pc has been trying to install it. Every time it tries to install, during the boot process the install fails and the system reverts back to original settings. I get the error message E_FAIL (0x80004005). I have tried letting the automatic updater install this sp1 and I have also downloaded it, running the update, and then the same thing happens. I have tried it without my security software running and get the same result. This has been going on for so long now that I do not even bother to watch my machine boot up,- I know it is going to boot twice due to the failure of installing sp1. Please help!

Downloading and installing iTunes will not fix this problem. If the other troubleshooting steps do not work, go to the Control Panel and uninstall iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Services, Quicktime and any other Apple program that might be present. Reboot your computer, then download and install the latest version of iTunes.

I think the best option would be to completely uninstall all components of iTunes in the order specified of the article below. Once this is done attempt to install iTunes again.

You are welcome to post any specific errors you are able to discover within your installation log to this discussion. Since you are using Windows then Exit Code 15 could mean one of the following:
Installer database is corrupted
Update pending to your operating system
Improper permissions set for the Media.db
The installation log file should provide additional insight into the exact error you are experiencing. Please make sure to use the find command to look for the words 'ERROR' and 'FATAL' to locate the relevant error messages.
