Cannot install upgrade from Acrobat XI Standard to XI Pro

I have uninstalled Standard, downloaded upgrade per Tech help, and when I click on .exe file it brings up a pop-up for Standard Installation. Any help?

Are you running Windows? It's possible that some of the files part of the previously installed Acrobat XI Standard have been left behind on your system, causing this issue.
Adobe has made a tool available that helps you cleanup failed or partial uninstalled of Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat versions – it's for standalone installs.  Hopefully running this tool on your system prior to trying to run the Acrobat XI Pro install
The tool is available from Adobe Labs: Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool
If this doesn't work, let us know some more details:
What operating system are you running? (Win 7, Win 8, Mac OS X 10.10.x etc).
Provide screenshots if possible with error messages you might see.
and any other information that might help us help you.

  • Installing upgrade from Acrobat XI Standard to Acrobat Xi Pro

I am trying to install an upgrade from Acrobat 11 Standard to Acrobat 11 Pro.  I have purchased and upgrade license.  When I try to install the Pro upgrade, I get a message that a product with higher functions is already installed and it terminates the install.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would recommend you uninstall Std, run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, remove any left over Acrobat folder parts (in Program Files>Adobe), reboot, and install. You will likely have to give the S/N for Std as the qualifying product for XI Pro.

  • Can't install upgrade from Acrobat XI Standard to Acrobat XI Pro

I have Acrobat XI Standard installed on a new Dell Windows 7 PC. I just purchased an upgrade to Acobat XI Pro. I paid $199 and successfully downloaded the installation file from www.adobe.com.
When I try to install the package, the installation proceeds through a few standard screens (e.g., the Welcome screen), and then I receive a setup error:
"Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed. Setup will now terminate."
Clearly, Acrobat XI Standard is not a more functional product than Acrobat XI Pro. How do I get around this error so that I can install the upgrade?

    Hey habilock,
The reason why you are getting this error is that you are attempting to install Acrobat XI pro over XI standard, but you cannot install the same version of Pro over Standard.
If they are different versions (like Acrobat Pro XI over Acrobat X), then it would work.
You can also check the following link that clearly specifies that there is no such upgrade option of Acrobat XI over Standard:
Buying guide | Adobe Acrobat XI Pro
For more details on the same, you can refer another forum link discussing the same issue:
setup has detected you already have a more functional product installed....
    Hope that helps.

  • Can I upgrade from Acrobat XI Standard to Pro?

Can I upgrade from Acrobat XI Standard to Pro?

As I indicated, the store gives an upgrade from Std to Pro, though I think the price is not appropriate. If you go to the basic page for Acrobat, they are no pushing the subscription version. If you do to the buying guide you get the regular version option (http://www.adobe.com/content/dotcom/en/products/acrobatpro/buying-guide.html). The upgrade is $199, which I think is crazy. Something like $70 is more appropriate, the difference in cost between Std and Pro upgrades, or at least $150 for the difference of the full products. If the Std had been an upgrade, the cost of a full upgrade is not reasonable. Anyway, a screen capture of the cost is below:
So apparently the guys on the chat have no clue what they are talking about. However, that does not surprise me. What bothers me is some of the unreasonable pricing as I see it in the store.

  • After upgrading from acrobat 9.5 to XI pro my users have complained on slow typing when filling in form that were created in version 9.5?

After upgrading from acrobat 9.5 to XI pro my users have complained on slow typing when filling in form that were created in version 9.5?
The issue is they type but there is 2 second delay when it appears in the field.
    Windows 7 64bit

I see, I misread your reference to Reader 11 to mean you were using Acrobat 11, but it looks like it worked out anyway.
The base-14 fonts are special in PDF because they are guaranteed to be available even if they are not embedded. If you select a non-base-14 font for use with a form field, the entire font usually gets embedded, since each glyph it contains has to be available for use with the field. This can take up a lot of space if you do this a lot, and the space isn't reduced if you change back to a base-14 font later because the internal reference to it is not removed. This is caused by the bug I mentioned.
In your case, however, the entire font doesn't get embedded because fonts like it (e.g., large asian fonts with a lot of glyphs, Arial Unicode) would take up too much space if fully embedded. If it did, a 100KB PDF could bloat to 20MB with that one change. Instead, users are expected to have such fonts installed on their system, which is why you were prompted to install the font pack. This despite the fact that the font was not actually used by anything in your document, it was simply the orphaned reference to it that triggered this. This should get fixed in Acrobat eventually so this type of thing doesn't happen again.

  • How to upgrade from Acrobat 9 Standard to Pro Extended?

Can it be done in one step? It looks like I have to upgrade from Standard to Pro, and then from Pro to Pro Extended. Seems like a pain, but it does look like it costs $300 less than buying a full version of Pro Extended.
If this is what I have to do, do I have to actually download and install Pro, and then download and install Pro Extended on top of that?

Call the Adobe store for pricing: 800-585-0774. It is not available from the web.

  • Installing upgrade from CS 4 Standard to CS 5.5 Premium generates errors post install

    Hi
This is on a Windows XP SP3 32-bit computer.
Already has CS 4 Standard with an upgraded CS 5.5 Premium installed on it for over a year.  Some of the CS 5.5 applications were crashing so am attempting to reinstall CS 5.5.  However at the end of the CS 5.5 upgrade install I get the following warnings/errors.  CS 5.5 seem to work however.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Upgrade from Acrobat 9 Standard to Acrobat XI Pro

I need an Upgrade-Path for an offline Installation for Acrobat XI Professional.
Due to security reasons the virtual machine on which acrobat is installed is NOT CONNECTED to the internet in any way.
So there is no online licensing, no online anything.
I need an installation path from you and an advice, which version to order, so we can install on a NON ONLINE partition of the PC.
Again and just to make this sure: There is NO WAY for a internet connection from the vmware-partition on the notebook. There is a special secured vmware partition only for exchange with the web but all other parts must remain secured and closed...
    Plz help

The install files can be downloaded or the CD purchased and taken to the machine. However, you are asking a connection and activation question that is not common to most of us users. It needs to be directed directly to Adobe. I would suggest calling the Adobe Sales folks and hopefully you will get someone that knows what (s)he is talking about.
Sorry I can't be of more help. The usual product has to be activated over the internet and that is not acceptable in your case. I don't know of a work around.

  • Install Acrobat 9 Pro Extended from Acrobat 9 Standard

I attempted to do an upgrade from Acrobat 9 Standard to Pro Extended having purchased the software from a sales rep who said I could do this as did technical support.
My system is XP Pro/SP2 32-bit.
During the install I ran into this problem. http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/401/kb401731.html. Being stupid I continued on
instead of stopping. Once I got to the section that I am asked to input the Pro Extended serial number and then my STandard serial number I ran into further problems. The dropp down menu asked for which current version of Acrobat, which of course for me was 9 Standard.
The problem was the drop down menu has no option for Standar only Professional.
Since the sales rep had told me I could upgrade I hadn't read the label on the Extended Pro box, which says it's only an upgrade for Professional If I had called in at that time I would have resolved that issue, but not the missing DLL.
I then found out I couldn't uninstall the mess so I did another stupid thing and did a system restore, which just compounded the problem. To make a longer story shorter I downloaded MS Windows Cleanup Utility and removed  Acrobat.com and Acrobat 9 STandard. I then downloaded WinCS4Cleanupscript and unzipped and ran it. So far so good.
Then I was advised to install Pro Extended as a trial and customer support would take care of the license issue. Ok, again so far so good.
I then attemped to install Pro Extended as trial and ran into a printer problem similar to what I had
encountered before, but not exactly the same.
"Setup can not copy file PSCRPTFE.NTF" and issues about printers not being Windows logo compliant I believe it was.
(I have a new wireless Brother HL-2170W laser and Canon MP830 inkjet and just updated the driver and firmware...maybe that will load the missing driver)
A this point the installation was terminated and I was advised to follow Adobe TechNote KB403613. The only item that I could possiblity help with this printer problem is the Hotfix kb-930627, but this is for a 64-bit system not 32? Do I download or not?
I also just found out that I still have some vestige of Pro Extended on my system though the MS Cleanup Utility doesn't list anything. Do I run WinCS4Cleanupscript again?
    a) How do I fix the PSCRPTFE.NTF issue with my printer(s)
    b) Do I download a 64-bit hotfix kb-930627to my 32-bit system...and will that solve the printer problem?
    c) Do I just ignore what's left of Pro Extended on my system or run Winc cs4Cleanupscript again. I can't run it directly from all programs, but if I click
on Acrobat 9 Standard under start it opens up or at least that's how it's identified.
    d) Anything else?

I might as well update my own question:
I followed the instructions given in the Adobe TechNote kb403613 after running WINCS4Cleanupscript.
However, I did NOT download the hotfix as that's for a 64-bit system. The phrasing of the hotfix wasn't very
clear to me, but I don't think when it stated XP Home or Professional meant a 32-bit system rather only 64-bit.
If anyone knows better let me know. I checked out that specific hotfix and said was for 64-bit OS.
    1) Created a new user account with Admin rights
    2)  I did the "intermediate troubleshooting" listed in kb403613 and found a few files to delete and I also ran the disk defragmenter.
Might as well catch any problems up front instead of waiting.
    3) There were several directories on the DVD but only copied Acrobat 9 Pro Extended to my desktop in the new user account.
    4) Ran msconfig and disabled all programs under the start up tab. Once you click OK a small window pops up
and you press restart. Remember to write down any programs listed in startup that are not enabled so you
can deselect those when you enable the startup menu again.
    5) On restart and booting up press F8 to get the start up options and select VGA mode.
    7) Once you in Windows log back into the account you created to just install Acrobat
    8) Open Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on your desk top and run the installer
    Desktop>Acrobat 9 Pro Extended>Acrobat9>Acro3D
    9) Run the install. In my case I selected trial version.
    10) I still ran into a problem with Windows Logo compatiblity issues with  my printers.
I could either continue or stop the installation, which I did to attempt to determine just what's
    causing that problem.
    11) there was some auto backout of files, but I still had to run MS Cleanup Utility again and remove Acrobat 9 Pro Extended.
Also ran WINCS4Cleanupscript though nothing there.
    12) I then did a restart and booted into normal Windows mode from VGA mode.
    13) Logged into my account and ran msconfig to enabled my startup menu and then deselected the ones I didn't want.
OK, I am back to square one. I checked the Windows Logo Product List and found my Brother HL-2170W is
XP, VISTA and W7 Windows Logo certified.
I checked my other printer a Canon Pixma MP830...well not so good. It's logo certified under Vista and W7, but not XP.
I had downloaded the lastest driver and firmware, but that didn't seem to help. I did email Canon. Now these printers had
no problems when I was running under Acrobat 9 Standard.
Right now my only option appears to be to just run the install and continue on when I get to the printer issue. Still don't know what
will happen when I get to the serial numbers. I am suppose to call support and they will fix activation. So I am told...

  • Can't upgrade from Acrobat X Std to Acrobat X pro

    Hello,
I have Acrobat X std I purchased and d/l without problem months ago.  Today tried to upgrade from Acrobat X standard to Acrobat X Pro.  All seemed well until I ran the installation after downloading the files using the download assistant.  The installer window shows Acrobat X Standard in the top bar.  It will only accept my old Acrobat X Standard serial number.  It will not accept the new activation key or serial number.  I have completely uninstalled Acrobat X, gone back to the download area under my orders, and re-downloaded the file.  Same thing happens all over again.  Of course no support or help on weekend and I leave on a trip tomorrow.  Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

OK, I got it loaded.  Not sure exactly, but I believe the tricks were to not use their automatic downloarder, delete it from my computer, to select the "overwrite" option when the manually downloaded installer found the previous files (which I had uninstalled, so not sure what the uninstaller left behind....) then of course once it ran, it prompted me for the Standard serial number, since that had been uninstalled.  Once I put that in, it all seems to work.  Sheesh.

  • I just purchased Adobe Acrobat Standard DC andf upgraded from Acrobat XI. When I instalkled it on my PC the print Production Tools were there and functional. I installed it on my Laptop and those tolls are not there. What do I need to do to have Print Pro

I just purchased Adobe Acrobat Standard DC andf upgraded from Acrobat XI. When I instalkled it on my PC the print Production Tools were there and functional. I installed it on my Laptop and those tolls are not there. What do I need to do to have Print Production Tools on both computers?

This is quite odd. I wonder if you could try something for me on EACH computer.
Use Help > About Adobe Acrobat DC.
At the top of the box it should say Adobe Acrobat Pro DC or Adobe Acrobat Standard DC.
On each of the two machines, what does it say? (I think something odd has happened)

  • Upgrade to Acrobat XI Standard from X Pro

I'd like to upgrade to Acrobat XI.  I currently  have X Pro, when I attempt to purchase from Adobe site, it prompts me to enter my current version, but only lists 9 and X Standard.  Can I use the upgrade option to go from X Pro to XI Standard?

    Hi SeanAccent,
You cannot upgrade from Acrobat Pro to Standard version. I would suggest to contact Adobe Customer Service team and ask for upsell and they should be able to assist you.
    Hope that helps

  • Can I upgrade from Acrobat X to XI from one computer to another?

I bought a new computer which I asked for Acrobat XI standard to be placed into the computer. I still have my "old" computer but it has Acrobat X. Is there any way of upgrading from Acrobat X to XI in my "old" computer without paying the upgrade fee? And if yes, how do I do it? I would appreciate any assistance. Thank you in advance.

Please open the following link and then download the installer for Acrobat XI standard. After that, run the installer to install the product on your machine.

  • Can I upgrade from Acrobat 11 Pro to DC Pro?

Can I upgrade from Acrobat 11 Pro to DC Pro?

    Hey marcp30425730,
If you are using Creative Cloud or Acrobat XI subscription, then you will get a free upgrade to Acrobat DC.
You can install and activate Acrobat DC subscription on your machine using the same Adobe ID credentials.
On the other hand, if you own Acrobat XI Pro, then you cannot use the same serial key to activate Acrobat DC.
You need to purchase a separate perpetual license for DC version, but you'll be qualified for a reduced price when purchasing the perpetual license.
Hope this information helps you. Let me know if you have further queries.
I would certainly help you out.
