Cannot install Windows 7 32 bit-64 bit not working either

I have tried to install Windows 7 Professional several times, but to no avail.
Here are my problems:
1. After using Boot Camp to partition my hard drive (32 bit) the Mac restarts, but it spits out the disc and then restarts in Snow Leopard.
2. Using 64 bit, it does boot from the disc, but, then the installer says that I have to load the drivers for my optical drive. Seeing as I don't have the drivers, I cant go any further.
So, this is where I am, and would appreciate any help given, thanks.

I don’t agree that VMWare or Parallels is the best way to run Windows on a Mac. If you run both OS’s this way you do not get the true speed of either OS. If you are not doing anything processor intensive then you are okay to do so, but imagine if you are running say 3D app or Music app. In those kind of apps they need all the CPU / Memory power they can get hold of.
You need native speed for them to run properly.
Like rednectar said 64 bit is the way to go as all the apps are heading in that direction anyway you might as well be ready.

    Hi,
I recently have an issue with Synaptics touchpad on HP Mini 110 Windows 7 32 Bit - NOT working for one user - working for another.
Windows 7 updates recently installed ???
By checking the device properties on the user that works - "Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad 13/10/2011 Version 15.3.29.0"
When the other user logs on, the touchpad works for a few seconds, then a displays a black square with a red diagonal line through it, then the touchpad won't respond. Trying to use the keypad to navigate to system diagnosics or anything to find further info is useless....

    Hey eagle_no11,
Thank you for joining the HP Support Community!
I will do my best in assisting to hopefully get the TouchPad to work on the second user profile.
What I would like to start off with, is to restore the original Synaptics drivers onto the profile that is not working correctly. I have included the document Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7).
Once you have installed the original drivers, you will need to complete all updates from both HP, as well as Windows. For these updates, if you open the HP Support Assistant, and select Maintain, you should see an option for updating.
Please let me know how these steps do work out for you.
    Have a great day!

  • Cannot install Windows 7 32-bit using Boot Camp

I have one of the new iMacs (late 2012) and I can't install Windows 7 32-bit using Boot Camp. Whenever I try to being the installation using the Boot Camp Assistant, I always get the following message: "Need 64-bit Windows installation USB drive or DVD. Boot Camp only supports 64-bit Windows installation on this platform. Please use an USB drive or DVD which contains 64-bit Windows". I have successfully installed 32-bit Windows on my Macbook Pro that is running the same version of Mac OS X and Boot Camp, but I don't know why on this new iMac it doesn't allow me to. Apple's documentation states that I should be able to install either 32-bit and 64-bit without any problem, but this is not the case here. I can't find anything about this problem/error on the Internet either. HELP!!!

Yes, circumstances do change but if Apple is, as they claim to be, serious about seamlessly migrating what is still a large and dominant market share of users from Windows, supporting 32 bit versions is not a nice to have, but a must have.
I don't see why users have to make excuses when there is a clear shortfall of what is promised.
In other discussions, there is talk of an opportunity for Apple to make a significant impact, as Windows 8 has deviated so much from the comfort zone of traditional Windows users. But to make that change, Macs have to support what is still a primarily 32 bit environment in the installed base.
As for the use of VMs, I had a tough time migrating out of Parallels 6 after an upgrade to Mountain Lion broke compatibility so IMHO it is not a long term solution unless you are happy to hand out $50 every 2-3 years just to support the same functionality.
    Use Virtual Box, it's free.
32 bit may have a reasonable user base but it's going away fast, if you must use 32 bit Windows and won't use a VM your choice is limited.
Buy a PC, or buy an older Mac.
The rest of your post is speculative and I won't go there.

  • Cannot install Windows 7 (64-bit) with Bootcamp

I tried to install Windows 7 64-bit on a MacPro running MacOS 10.6.7 with Bootcamp Version 3.0.4 (325).
I get the following hardware information from 'About This Mac':
    Model Name:          Mac Pro
      Model Identifier:          MacPro1,1
      Processor Name:          Dual-Core Intel Xeon
      Processor Speed:          2.66 GHz
      Number Of Processors:          2
      Total Number Of Cores:          4
L2 Cache (per processor):          4 MB
      Memory:          4 GB
      Bus Speed:          1.33 GHz
      Boot ROM Version:          MP11.005C.B08
      SMC Version (system):          1.7f10
After I inserted the Windows installation DVD and boot it up, I got an empty screen that asked me to select boot type, 1 or 2.
The keyboard did not respond any input so the whole installation was hung.  Can someone shed some light on what may went wrong?

    You can
    Select CD-ROM Boot prompt
You just can't boot from the DVD without extra steps.
Apple uses UEFI on those Macs that are "blessed" as being compatible, and yours and mine have older 2005 era EFI32 that won't.
We also are stuck with 1.9GB usable RAM in 32-bit Vista/7 also, another blow.
And no firmware update to Unified EFI 2.x to make us "compatible." Has not stopped 1000s from doing so though.

  • Windows 8 64-bit not working on iTunes

Every time I try to update my iTunes it fully downloads but when I try to install it says that its not compatible with my computer. I have Windows 8 64-bit and I download the 64-bit Windows version. Does anybody know why it doesn't work?

You might try a manual install/repair.
The instructions below I've done with Windows 7 64 bit. (not sure what will happen with Windows 8 but we may learn more)
After downloading the latest version of iTunes from Apple, extract the files in “iTunes64Setup.exe”
(If you have never done this, you may need to download a program such as WinRAR [64 bit].)
Manually run each install file in the following order.
    AppleApplicationSupport.msi
    Bonjour64.msi
    AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi
    AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi
    iTunes64.msi
If there are any errors, stop, and write back with the results.

  • Cannot install Windows 7 64-bit on IdeaPad U400

I work for a local tech repair shop.  Yesterday, a customer brought in a Lenovo IdeaPad U400 with a bad hard drive, from which the data was completely unrecoverable.  I replaced it without issue, and it boots to the Windows 7 install disk just fine.  However, after I click 'Install Now', I'm presented with this error message: "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing.  If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."  It then gives me the option to browse for the folder containing the drivers.
After Googling it, I first tried switching the SATA controller from 'AHCI' to 'Compatible' in the BIOS, but that didn't work.  Then, I tried loading the Intel RST drivers onto a flash drive and browsing for them when prompted, but all I got for my trouble was another error message: "No new devices could be found.  Make sure the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media."  I then tried doing the same with all the drivers I could find for the laptop, thinking that it was perhaps something other than the storage controller that needed drivers and was causeing the error message, with the same result.  Lastly, I tried burning new install media at the lowest speed and using that instead, but still no luck.
I'm really at my wits' end with this accursed thing.  Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you do to solve it?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello and welcome,
That "required" message is often/usualy caused by a corrupt ISO download, burn, bad factory media, or a mis-behaving optical drive.  Sometimes USB port can make a difference also (3.0, 2.0, ???) when installing from USB optical or flash.
Have you tried different media, drive, or port?

  • Cannot install windows 7 as cd drive does not reganise disc

    Hi
Trying to install windows 7 on bootcamp but cd drive does not reganise the disc & keeps rejetting, please help
    Nudge1

    Hi
The CD/DVD driver is part of the Microsoft system and also available on the Windows 7 installation disk.
Therefore there are no special CD/DVD drivers available.
I read about this theme in different forums and also on Microsoft support forum and mostly this issue appear if the Windows system disk is faulty/damage.
I dont know from where you got this disk but I recommend you to download an Windows iso file from Microsoft server as mentioned here:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=73726
Then you could create own Windows installation disk or USB flash memory stick
The serial key which you got with the Windows disk could be used for activation.

  • HP P1006 driver for windows 7 (32-bit) not working

Hello. I have a problem with my printer P1006. It works fine before with  windows vista but when I upgrade it windows 7 professional last month. The printer doesn't work. I tried to download the driver for windows 7 using IE and Firefox. The driver is not working and the ftp server is not serving this file

I chat with HP customer service several times and they give me the same link and its not working and i didn't get any help at all. They told me to try it the next day and so on.... I've been trying to download since driver was released until today but its still lot working. I don't think there's a problem with my computer (HP dv5-1000us) because i'm using the same laptop on vista and it works before. I also tried to download the file on my desktop still didn't work. I hope somebody could help me fix this issue. Thank you.

Try this link, it replaces the ftp:// with http://.  Some systems have settings that preclude using ftp links.
While calling HP costs $$'s when out of warranty, there are other support methods that are free.  For some products support is available by email or chat.  And of course there is always this forum, where other users may have an answer.

  • Cannot install WIndows 7 64 Bit

I have a Windows 7 disk that has both 32 bit and 64 bit.  Everytime I try and clean install it automatically installs 32bit.  It never gives me an option. I've checked my compatibility and it tells me its 64 bit ready.

ITs an upgrade disk that my come with my daughter's toshiba a few years ago.  I used it on my previous gateway 64 bit with no problems at all.
if its upgrade only disk, then probably it detect current installed OS, and doing automatically upgrade on that depend of current installed OS if its 32bit or 64bit

  • ITunes 9.2.1, iPhone 4, Windows 7 64 bit not working together

I was able to connect my iphone 4 to itunes about a week ago. Then all of a sudden my iphone was not recognized in iTunes. I didn't get any error messages. I then upgraded to iTunes 9.2.1 on Friday in hopes that it would help. Unfortunately iTunes now takes >10 min to start, then after plugging in my phone, iTunes stops responding. Every once in awhile it will come back and I get the message "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE800006B)". Although Win7 recognizes the phone as it pops up the auto play message and i can go to explorer and see it as a device. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. Confirmed it is the iTunes 64 bit version even though it looks like a lot of the processes are running in *32 mode. I have tried the what some of the support pages have indicated. I can't get anything to work. If anyone else has some other suggestions i would love to hear them.

The EXACT same thing is happening to me. My phone is brand new, so the fact that I can't activate it due to this problem is really frustrating. I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times, followed apple's instructions in its problem solvers guide...nothing seems to work. I've messed around with the drivers a bit too, with no luck. Anyone have any ideas?
Go to the Event Viewer (Control Panel || Administrative Tools || Event Viewer) and look under Windows Logs || Application. Do you see any Bonjour errors? Since Windows 7 recognizes the camera part of the iPhone (nicely done Win7 integration!) Microsoft is probably not the culprit here.
Uninstall/reinstall iTunes is part of the process, but you also have to make sure you uninstall all the other components Apple installs (Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour for Windows, QuickTime), do a reboot, and then install everything from scratch. That may fix the problem.
This is exactly what an Apple guy talked me through over the phone. (I think I even uninstalled Apple Software Updater) I had a similar problem with the iPad on Win7 x64 - it was Bonjour that is the culprit. The x64 flavor of Bonjour for Windows is not as stable as the 32-bit version.
But everything has been golden for me since the reinstall...
    Give that a try.
Then if not, you could start looking to see if there is another ZeroConf/SSDP provider that is conflicting with Apple's somehow.

  • ITunes 11.1.3.8 in Windows 7, 64-bit, not working with Remote App or with Airport Express

The last time I tried to use both the Airport Express and the Remote App was probably about 6 or 7 weeks ago, and they worked fine. However, with the current version, none of it is working. I've tried restarting, and reinstalling iTunes from scratch. I've rebooted the wireless router. Both devices are connecting to the network, getting DHCP leases, and can communicate over the network just fine for other means. The Airport Utility can talk to the Airport Express over the wireless, and the iPhone can reach everything else as well.
If I plug the Airport Express into ethernet, iTunes still can't see it. But I can still talk to it with the Utility.
Everything seems to indicate proper networking, and yet neither of them can talk to iTunes anymore. What changed in the software? Everything is the same with my network.

Hi guys! I have just found a solution in a different thread - huge thanks to Toploader21120:
    1) open control panel.
    2)Choose Network and internet
3)Select the VIEW NETWORK STATUS TASKS under NETWORK and SHARING CENTER section
    4) Choose the active network connection. It is usually name " wireless Network Connection 1" or something similiar.
    5) Click the properties button
    6) If the Internet PROTOCOL VERSION 6(TCP/IPv6) is checked, uncheck it, then click OK.
    7) Click CLOSE
    8) Restart iTunes and try to use the Home Sharing feature again.
Apple dudes, please, do include it in FAQ!

  • I installed Firefox today but it will not open and the icon on the taskbar will not close and I cannot uninstall it and the helper app does not work either?

I have tried everything that I know to uninstall the new version of Firefox. I also installed Aurora beta and it had the same behavior and I was able to uninstall that. I cannot open a ff browser to work on it using much of your support information. I click on icon but it does not start on the desktop but task manager shows it as running. I have to end task in task manager to close it. I can't uninstall it and have tried system restore but that also doesn't work because of another issue with my antivirus program.
