Cannot install Windows-Identity-Foundation

Hello, I've tried to install "Windows-Identity-Foundation" feature, but without success (OS is Windows 8.1 Professional).
I can not find this feature in the UI (ControlPanel -> Programs&Features -> "Turn Windows Features on or off").
So I've tried to install it via command line (dism tool).
I've checked feature via executing command "dism /online /Get-FeatureInfo /FeatureName:Windows-Identity-Foundation"
this command line is returning correct output on working machine,
but on my machine it returns:
> Error: 0x800f080c
> Feature name Windows-Identity-Foundation is unknown.
> A Windows feature name was not recognized.
So I can't install it via the "dism /online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:Windows-Identity-Foundation" command.
That issue is occurs not only with the "Windows-Identity-Foundation", but also with some other features (for example "Legacy Components").
Next I googled that this issue may be fixed via calling "sfc /scannow" to restore the packages,
but "sfc" is ended with message "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.";
the log file contains the next errors:
* STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND #5186404# from Windows::Rtl::SystemImplementation::DirectFileSystemProvider::SysCreateFile(
* Error STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND originated in function Windows::Rtl::SystemImplementation::DirectFileSystemProvider::SysCreateFile expression
(full logs I put in the onedrive http://1drv.ms/1BILQWs )
so that errors are not clear to me,
please guide me how I can try to fix this issue?
any advice is welcome.

Just have tried to execute "InstallFeature" with /Sourceand locate image with windows installation files
>dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:Windows-Identity-Foundation /Source:G:\sources\sxs
and the response:
Error: 0x800f080c
Feature name Windows-Identity-Foundation is unknown.
A Windows feature name was not recognized.
The dism.log file contains errors:
* Failed to get the Update through CBS. - CDISMPackage::Internal_OpenFeature
* Failed to get the underlying CBS Feature - CDISMPackage::OpenFeature
* Feature name windows-identity-foundation is unknown. - CPackageManagerCLIHandler::Private_GetFeaturesFromCommandLine
* Unknown features were specified on the command-line. - CPackageManagerCLIHandler::Private_GetFeaturesFromCommandLine
* Failed to get the Feature List from the command line. - CPackageManagerCLIHandler::Private_ProcessFeatureChange
* Failed while processing command enable-feature. - CPackageManagerCLIHandler::ExecuteCmdLine
Full log file copied to onedrive: http://1drv.ms/18TpVSf .
I am accepting any advice.

  • Unable to install Windows Identity Foundation on Windows 7

Following installtion guide titled "Setting Up the Development Environment for SharePoint 2010 on Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008".
I am installing SharePoint Foundation 2010 on Windows 7 Enterprise 64 Bit.  Following the guide above, I was able to install all of the prerequisites except for the two hotfixes: KB976462 and KB974405.  Ater some research I believe KB976462 is
to be installed after KB974405 so I am troubleshooting this item before.  I've downloaded the MSU file (Windows6.1-KB974405-x64.msu) and during the installtion for KB974405 it reports that the installation failed.  When I go into the Windows
Update history and check the details for that update attempt it indicates Error Code 80070643.  This seems to be a generic failure so I'm having trouble with solving it.
I've searched as best as I could for the solution but the solutions for others I've seen online didn't work for me.  I've double checked the prerequisites for the hotfix and have IIS 7.5 as well as .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.  I used the .NET
Framework Setup Verification Tool and did not see any issues.  The other potention issue I saw was that in the Windows Update screen it says that "Some settings are managed by your system administrator" and automatic updates are turned
off.  However, I was given a username and password that has local admin rights and that's what I was able to use to install all of the other items in the guide.  Therefore I don't think that would be the issue.  I'm really stuck and not sure
at all how to proceed at this point.
When I tried installing SPF 2010 dispite that error, during the wizard I recieved the error "Failed to load dependency Microsoft.IdentityModel of assembly Microsoft.SharePoint".  Based on that I saw that KB974405 couldn't be ignored.
Edit: Please see complete error log below.

Below is the complete error log of the installation attempt:

Help I have provate this aplication for update user of AX 2012.

If installing .NET 4.5 doesn't work, then there is no way to install this functionality.  Someone mentioned a workaround, which is to copy the DLL files from a Windows 8.1 install to the Windows 10 install, but there's nothing built in
    right now.
The WIF libraries were moved into the base install of .NET 4.5, that's why I suggested installing .NET 4.5 and seeing what happens.  If that doesn't work, then either 1) you'll need to wait until Microsoft updates Win 10 with the ability to install
this feature, or 2) copy the DLLs from a Windows 8.1 install of WIF.
    Hope that helps!

  • Windows Identity Foundation no more available? No Dynamicy CRM working?

    Hi,
I am testing Windows 10 TP. I tried to configure Dynamics CRM but it crashes with the exception: "Could not load file or assembly Microsoft.IdentityModel".
The Internet says that I have to install the Feature "Windows Identity Foundation", but this is not listed under Windows 10 TP Features.
    Any suggestions?
    Regards

  • Unable Windows Identity Foundation in Windows 10 TP

    Hi all,
This question has been asked before but I've yet to see anyone describe the exact steps they have attempted to resolve the issue.
Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 client has a dependency upon Windows Identify Foundation being installed / option enabled.
WIF is not able to be installed on Windows 10 TP as an executable, the same as Windows 8.  However, the option to manually register the DLL using the
gacutil option is not working either.
I have also attempted to resolve by running the same PowerShell command line that the AX installer uses to configure WIF.
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0\Bin>gacutil /i "C:\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Windows Identity Foundation\v3.5\Microsoft.IdentityModel.dll"

    format with maxtor cd
    boot from OS cd
    start setup, reboot, continue
the farthest i can get is 'registering components/completing installation' i either get a blue screen stop error which isnt the same everytime, or it just locks up and doesnt do anything.
ran the memtest checker and get errors on test #4
i had a DIMM of kingston that gave the same errors, so i RMA'd it and got another. same errors, so i RMA'd again and got a Crucial stick. same errors.

yea, i dont plan to run the 250. im gonna wait for the new 480.
thanks for the info about ram timings as well. i havnt gotten any solid answers about what to set it to.
even with new mobo and ram, i'm getting errors in memtest86 #4 test as i always have. i've tried different slots with same problems.
i only have one module because i dont want to waste anymore money on a non-working system. once i get it up and running i'll add another 512.

  • Cannot install Windows 8.1 via Boot Camp on MBPr 13" Early 2013; tried almost everything.

    Hi guys,
yesterday, I decided to install Windows 8.1 on my Mac using Boot Camp. I tried to install it, but the first attempt ended into booting to the screen, where it says "Cannot find any bootable device" or something like that. So I googled it up and then tried the EFI Boot. The EFI Boot booted into the Windows installation properly, but I cannot choose the partition I want to install it on. I tried partitioning it in Disk Utility using Tuxera to NTFS, I tried formatting it in the installation itself, always restarted between the processes, I tried to delete the partition and create a new one in the installation, but no luck. I am still stuck on the error "Cannot install Windows on MBR partition. Please, choose a GPT partition". I have a 256GB SSD disk. I browsed the problems and solutions for 3 hours, but no luck. None of the solution helps. The only solution that would work I guess is if I don’t boot into EFI, but into the BIOS installation. But when I do that, I get the "Cannot find any bootable device", so a dead end here. I also tried the tips where they say to remove the USB stick when the Windows installation starts, but didn’t help either.
I am installing using a bootable USB drive, I do not have a Superdrive and cannot even lend it or something like that.
I am really desperate, can anyone please help me?
    Thanks in advance,
    DavidKop_

Some people have been successful installing 8.1 (me, for instance) despite it not being supported. However this seems to be hardware dependent.
I would have expected the normal WININSTALL option to be available on a Bootcamp-created USB, not just the EFI boot option.
It really depends on whether Bootcamp is creating a hybrid MBR when it creates the Bootcamp partition. Some later model Macs do not. On the Macs that do not create the hybrid MBR Windows may install in EFI mode.
If you remove everything and stretch the Macintosh HD back to the full size of the disc again then reboot and when the system restarts begin the Bootcamp installation again but do not let it restart at that time, you can then run the following code in the terminal and report its output we will be able to see if a hybrid MBR has been created (this is after the partition has been created by Bootcamp, but before it reboots).
    sudo fdisk /dev/disk0

  • Cannot install Windows XP Professional on my MacBook Pro using Boot Camp.

Cannot install Windows XP Professional on my MacBook Pro using Boot Camp. When I get to the point of inserting the Windows disc and clicking 'Install' at the Boot Camp Assistant screen, it keeps telling me that it cannot find the Install Disc. The installation disc I am using is a new full install disc. I have tried to do the same thing using a Windows 7 disc with the same results. Does anyone have any answers. I am getting desperate!

Perhaps you could offer a suggestion then.

  • I cannot install windows 8.1 on my Envy touchsmart 15 notebook pc

I cannot install windows 8.1 on my Eny touchsmart 15 notebook pc. My current operating system is win 8.  After going throught the setup and about 35% of the drivers load, I get a black screen and the install quits. I have left it on all night and still no installation. I am not sure what to do next. I have all my drivers up to date, have stopped my backup system, unplugged all my external items and stopped my firewall and antivirus.

Wish you luck.  You are in good company.  None of the HP ENVY series appears to be able to upgrade to Windows 8.1 and no one at HP appears to know why.  In additgion, if you have looked lately, you may even find that there are no longer any drivers listed for Windows 8x64 either.  Only a place  to click to order (and pay for I presume) a Restore DVD.  Interesting choice of options considering the TouchSmart Windows 8 x64 models do not even have a DVD player to restore From in the first place.
HP definately dropped the ball on this one a it loks like they are not even going to provide solutions for those of us under Warranty.
Error codes I get are 0xC1900101  and  0x40019
I have read others saying it is a hardware problem but HP refuses to do anything about it

  • T430 cannot install Windows 8.1

I cannot install Windows 8.1. I have a T430. I go into the app store, start installing 8.1, it downloads, starts installing, and fails just after that point -- at 54% -- with the error message 0x80070002. That apparently means "File not found", but the Windows Update logs don't point to which file is not found, only giving:
WARNING: CSerializationHelper:: InitSerialize failed : 0x80070002
Going into Event Viewer gives the equally cryptic "English ESD Bundle Parent" as a possible cause for the failure.
SFC and chkdsk do not report anything out of the ordinary.
I'm at a loss. Help is very appreciated.

Run the Fix-It tool in standard mode

  • Cannot install Windows 8 Consumer Preview on MacBook Air 11" (Late 2010)

Hi, I'm trying to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview on my MacBook Air 11" (Late 2010 model) via Boot Camp assistant. I've hacked the Info.plist of the Boot Camp Assistant to allow it to create a bootable USB installer drive. After successfully creating the USB, the laptop proceeds to reboot itself but it never loads up the Windows installer. However, if I restart it while holding Option, and selecting EFI boot, the installer loads up. However, once it loads, I cannot install Windows 8 Consumer Preview to the Boot Camp partition because of this error: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks. Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. WIndows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS. Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."
Can anyone guide me through steps that would hopefully resolve this problem? Thank you in advance

    @minxinglee
even i am getting same errors I hope you found out solution by now ! plz... can u share it ! i need it urgently

  • Cannot install windows 8 on Pavilion Elite M9600T (KX745AV-ABA) with Vista 64 BIT

I cannot install windows 8 on my computer. I contacted Microsoft and he worked on it for three hours and said I had a graphics card driver problem.I am using a Nvidia GeForce 9800GT which came with the computer.  When I try to update to the latest driver (306.97) Which is on the Microsoft update site and also on the Nvidia site The screen says no signal and goes to sleep. I have been working with a Nvidia rep for a week now and he says it is not their driver that is causing the problem and that I should contact HP. I don't know what else to do. I removed the working Nvidia driver (SP41066) also and Tried to install windows 8 and recieved the same message "Windows installation was not successful" and returned me to Vista 64 Bit. I don't know what else to do. Can someone please help or am I just out of luck. Thank you,

    You're welcome mrchips108
By the way up for one more go. I was finally able to find someone with a possible solution for you. the user yashoshah on the tomshardware forums had the problem:
"Windows installation was not successful. Your previous version of windows will be restored. Please do not switch off your computer during this time"
    SOURCE: Windows installation not successful
He fixed it by removing the HDMI cable and connecting to the monitor through DVI. After it was installed he went back to using HDMI.
How is your video card connected to the monitor: what cable and what interface is on the monitor and what interface are you using on the video card? Perhaps the Microsoft rep you spoke to was partly correct about the video card being the problem. It might be that the driver built into Windows 8 has a problem with certain configurations.
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" to those that help solve your problems.
