Cannot connect to 10g Express Edition home page
I installed Oracle Database 10g Express Edition in Windows XP Professional SP2. No error was prompted and I can successfully start and stop the server. However connection to the database homepage doesn't work (neither with Firefox nor with IExplorer), even if I disable the firewall and antivirus (Norton).

user628210hi again. first a have to apologize. i have oracle
database express edition 10g from school,so i dont
have registered version. When I said 'register' I didn't mean have it licensed, Oracle XE doesn't require any kind of license registration, it is free. By registering it I meant a technical issue. Once the database is started it tries to contact the listener at 1521 port, once contacted the oracle instance registers itself against it, and if it is successful you will have the administrator's page initialized and ready to access at the default 8080 port.
when i type SQL commands, command line wrote me
SP2-0734:unknown command beginning ENTERED COMMAND
Could you please specify which command did you try to enter?
>
and when i open RUN DATABASE, command line wrote
C:\OracleDatabase\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\BIN
net started OracleServiceXE - system error 5, accessdenied
What do you mean with 'RUN DATABASE'?

Unable to Access the home page of oracle 10g express edition.
I have installed enterprise manager 10g and also express edition 10g .But after installing the enterprise manager 10g and trying to access the url http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex .The xdb username and password is prompted.I deleted the entry in init.ora for the xdb parameter to avoid the userid prompt but still the xdb login credentials are prompted. How can I avoid this message in order to access the 10g express edition home page.
Regards
PanduIt appears you've got two things listening on port 8080, or more accurately two things that want to listen on port 8080. The winner is probably the Enterprise Manager. The easiest way to check this would be to connect as SYSDBA and run the following to reset the 10gXE XDB listener port:
EXEC dbms_xdb.sethttpport(8181);
Then, attempt to reconnect to the 10gXE on the new port. I suspect a new attempt to connect at the old port 8080 will return the same message. If it doesn't fix it, you should probably inspect the configuration file for XDB. You can do that by running the following:
SET LONG 10000
SET PAGESIZE 9999
SELECT dbms_xdb.cfg_get() FROM dual;
You'll find the template for configuration in the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/xml directory. Hope this helps. -

Could someone help me please.?

Can't access Home Page - Oracle Database 10g Express Edition...
Hi,
I have been running the Oracle Database 10g Express Edition on my Windows XP machine for years from this location:
C:\Applications\OracleDatabaseExpress\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\Database_homepage.url
In Properties of the Database_homepage.url file, the URL is:
http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex
However, when I double-click on the Database_homepage.url file, I get the message "The Page cannot be displayed" in IE. I do run the "net start OracleXETNSListener" utility first.
I only ran it last week. After that, I did run a couple of virus checks that deleted a couple of trojan viruses.
What could have gone wrong suddenly? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Cannot access Oracle XE database home page
Hi
I have just installed Oracle Database 10g express edition on my Windows XP, and the installation seemed to go well.
I then select to go to the database home page after the installation which opens a browser at this address: http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex, and i get a The page cannot be displayed' error.
During the install, i was given this information:
Destination Folder: C:\oraclexe\
Port for 'Oracle Database Listener': 1521
Port for 'Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server': 2030
Port for HTTP Listener: 8080
I have tried restarting my computer, but still get the cannot find server error when attempting to go to the database home page.
I was wondering if anyone else has had experience with this issue, where they cannot get to the database homepage, and how they may have solved it.
I also have disabled my firewall. but still could not access Home Page.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Background:
The server you are attempting to access has refused the connection with the gateway. This usually results from trying to connect to a service that is inactive on the server.

Via:
Oracle is installed on my own computer.I think ISA should do nothing with it.And I have removed proxy setting in Internet exploer, but the error still happed.
I used netstat-a,and can find this:

foreign address myxxxxxx:0

does it mean my oracle http listener is started?Open a command line and
- enter ping 127.0.0.1 ... should tell whether
connectivity is possible. If not, something is
blocking, and that something is usually a firewall.ping 127.0.0.1. I can connect to 127.0.0.1,very fast.but when I ping 127.0.0.1:8080 ,Can't get response.
enter ipconfig /all
enter and post output of lsnrctl status
There are so many output content. And you may see some #^$*#*&^$#@&* because I'm using Chinese version Oracle and OS.

Installation of Oracle 10g Express Edition
I've installed XE onto my PC (Windows XP MediaCenntre Edition) using the OracleXE2 application currently available from the download centre. The installation ran succesfully and used all of the default ports.
However when I try to go to the Database Home page (127.0.0.1/apex) I always get I.E returns 'cannot display web page'. I've tried to re-install to fix the problem but it still fails. Any one have any ideas???????
NOTE
I've run the start database batch file just in case services were down and this informs me that the listener has been started correctly and that the OracleServiceXE is already running. Furthermore I can run SQLPlus from the command line, log on as System and run a simple select against ALL_TABLES.user1883681 wrote:
I have the same problem for over a month now. Other projects are rapidly taking priority. The Oracle application express database used to install and work fine. Now it will install and just not come up. NOBODY seems to be able to answer the question. Yes, we can read through how many other forum groups but all that I have read do not address this question, nor problem. You miss the point. I'm not suggesting you simply review the other forum. I'm suggesting that asking in this forum falls on deaf ears. It is like going into the har stylist/barber shop and asking whether someone will sell you a sandwich. Here is the wrong place. So please consider that you should -
ASK IN THE OTHER FORUM TO TALK WITH PEOPLE WHO DEAL WITH THAT TECHNOLOGY.
The correct forum is found by clicking on the "Forum Home" at top of this page, scrolling down to 'Database' category, clicking on 'More', scroling down and clicking on "Oracle Database 10g Express Edition" near the bottom.
(As for Vista - hopefully you deal with Vista Business, or higher. AFAICT, no Oracle product installs easily or properly on Vista Home) -
No Http server on port 8080 with 10g Express Edition ( TNS-12631 error)
I downloaded the Oracle 10g Express Edition for Microsoft Windows and tried to install the software on 3 pcs.
2 pc works but mine is not working.
All works well during installation but when I want to connect to the home web page, it displays error (http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex)
It isnormal because I have no process running under 8080 port.
But I don't know why there is not an http server on port 8080.

10g express edition ....reinstallation
I had installed 10g express edition on my Windows XP m/c, I could see go to Database Home Page from All Programs-> 10g Expreess Edition.
Had to reinstall it as we switched to Windows 7, I dont get the same meaning I cannot invoke the XE application now. Dont know what I did wrong while installing.....I downloaded the exe file from Oracle.com
Also I remember I was asked to enter an id and pw to setup a connection at the installation but NOT this time.
Appreciate quick help
ThanksNo Oracle product has been tested against or certified to run on Win7.
I am truly amazed at the number of people that bought Win7 and are trying to use a not-ready-for-prime-time operating system for enterprise software.
The Oracle database is not a bubble game or a word processor. <g> Really. -

Oracle 10g Express Edition Beta 3 ODBC Driver Always Crashes
I find that if you set up an ODBC Data Source for Oracle 10g Express Edition on Windows XP SP2 using the "Oracle in XE" driver, anything that tries to access it will crash, even the Windows ODBC Data Source Administratior if you click the "Test Connection" button.
Having clicked the button, you get a window coming up entitled "Oracle ODBC Driver" with a yellow exclamation mark in it, with no other text in the window except for an OK button.
If you press OK, then it crashes and goes through the "Please tell Microsoft about this problem" process....Hi,
Thanks for your comment, but I can't get onto the XE forum.
I found http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/xe/forum.html which says:
Forum registration is possible only by downloading and installing Oracle Database XE. After installation, click on the "Registration" link from the Database homepage.
However I find that the "Database Homepage" does not exist.
Choosing the Oracle XE "Go To Database Home Page" takes my browser to http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex which is not available even though my oracle server is running and sqlplus can talk to it.
There's definitely nothing serving on tcp port 8080, as follows:
[dcampbel@clevo]~> telnet localhost 8080
Trying 127.0.0.1...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
