  • Just purchased and downloaded Acrobat Pro, but cannot launch it.  I need to use it NOW!

I was using the Acrobat Pro trial, loved it, used it every day, so purchased the program and now cannot launch it no matter how many times I download it and try.  Can anyone help?

What OS? Assuming you are using Windows, there may be something leftover from the trial installation. Try using the cleaner tool and then re-installing.

  • Cannot install Acrobat X Pro. AAM says "installed" - but no sign of the "Launch app" option.

The Adobe Application Manager states Acrobat X Pro is installed but there is no "Launch App" option.
I have succesfully installed Ai, Ps and Id, but Acrobat X Pro is giving me a headache!
The app installed with a warning and 2 errors. (I did not save the text about this event - and I cannot repeat the operation that led me there,)
I can recall some detail from the text:
    • The installer could not remove data from an (old?) file from my Acrobat 9 installation.
    • There was a reference to the installer "lacking permission(s)" for some operation.
    • Also, some reference to my computer not supporting several "requirements".
I have since uninstalled my Acrobat 9 installation, but cannot uninstall Acrobat X Pro. (It is not listed under "Programs & Features".)
I also cannot re-install Acrobat X Pro - the AAM won't let me.
Any ideas? Can I download a trial-copy, then try to install that? Would it be recognized by the AAM?

Thank you, Baljeet - that worked well - However, the now installed Acrobat X Pro version 10,1.1.33 apparently needs a update/patch to upgrade Acrobat to vs. 10.1.3, and after much effort and many forum-suggested fixes, I cannot complete the update. (It "rolls-back" and reports an Error 1310. Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\2c4f05.rbf. Verify.......access to that directory.")
I have also received the same ("1310") error, but referencing a lack of sufficient "permission to modify....a certain file". (I can't now recall which file.)
To further complicate matters, my Secunia P.S. Inspector app also reported the need for an update - which did not complete either. It is now perpetually "Waiting for update to complete".
I hope you can solve this problem too! Thanks.

I got a new computer and all applications were transferred from the old one. However, when I tried launching Acrobat 8 Professional, I get a message that says: "Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be opened at this time and I need to launch another application in the suite e.g.Photoshop" which is already launched. Is there some help around this?

It appears that you have the CS. What new OS do you have. If it is Win 8.1, you may have to purchase a new version of Acrobat for that system. Folks have succeeded with AA 8.1 on Win 7, but I have not heard of any successful installs on Win 8.1. As for the issue you have with the new OS, you do have to follow the CS install process that is different than the stand-alone Acrobat (there are some posts that discuss the process if you search).

  • Acrobat 8.2.4 cannot launch

What is wrong here? I am trying to launc Acrobat 8.2.4 and it will only go so far to give me this message:
"Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 8 Professional."
Well, I have at least two other suite programs running at all times, so this doesn't make any sense.
Any wizards out there have a suggestion to resolve this, other than upgrading to CS5?
    Thanks!

  • Failure to launch Acrobat following Yosemite upgrade

I've just installed Yosemite and now, when I try to open Acrobat I get a message that it 'cannot be launched. You must launch at least one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat'. I have followed this instruction and opened Photoshop, but I still get the same message. How can I overcome this problem and open Acrobat?

Have you tried reinstalling Creative Suite 3?  You can download a fresh copy of the installation files at Download CS3 products.

    Hi Shotgun981,
Adding to what Jeff & Sheena shared, have you got any other product installed on this machine? Is that working fine ? Can you please navigate to the below mentioned location and advice if that worked for you or not.
    Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore
Rename the above mentioned folder to SLStore_old and try and launch Acrobat . If this doesn't work , please make sure that we have full permissions on the folder mentioned in the kb article. (Note: this Kb article is only for sharing the location and the actual problem is not described in it)

  • Windows 2008 windows service cannot launch Adobe Reader

I created a windows service that receives pdf files in one folder and should print them opening adobe reader. In my PC with Windows 7 it works just fine but when the application is deployed in Windows 2008 R2 server then the windows service is not able to
    launch Adobe Reader.
I searched on Internet and I found that it might be related to the Session 0 used by the services.
I tried multiple possible solutions without success.
Thank you in advance for any support with this issue

    Hi,
Are there any related error messages logged?
If not, I suggest you use Process Monitor to find out why exactly Windows cannot launch Adobe Reader.

  • Cannot open acrobat 8

I have loaded acrobat 8 from adobe suite 3 and it is opening but after 5-10 seconds a error saying 'Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time. You must launch one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 8 Professional.' I have also opened photoshop and it is opening nicely and i have tried to open acrobat 8 after opening photoshop but the problem is same. Help me on this. Thanks in advance.

Not sure. This is an activation issue as I recall, but there are some strange things that happen with the Creative Suite that appears to be what you have. Some of the others that have had the problem will hopefully be by. In the meantime, do a search of the forum for CS or such.

  • Cannot launch PE 9 on Mac

I cannot launch either Premiere Elements 9 ED or Photoshop Elements 9 ED after initial install on a Mac runnng OS X 10.5.8.  I purchased both programs as a set, and neither of them will install.  They just crash when I try to launch them after installation.  The computer I am using is an iMac 5,1 with Intel Core 2 Duo, and (with Premiere elements 9.0 ED version installed) 63 GB of free space.
During the week since I purchased the program, I have never been able to launch PE 9 on this computer. I uninstalled and re-instlled, but same result.
This is the error message I get:

I installed the program itself and not the content disk.  I have the boxed set (Educational version), which I purchased.
Other Adobe software on the computer:  CS4 web premium (I think it is called):  Bridge, Contribute, Device Central, Dreamweaver, Adobe Drive, Extension Manager, Fireworks, Flash, Illustrator, Photoshop, Soundbooth.  All CS4.  I have a CS3 version of InDesign.  Also:  Acrobat 9 Pro, Reader 9, Captivate 5, Media Encoder CS5.  Also something called Adobe Digital Editions, and Adobe Media Player.  Elements 9 Organizer is installed when I installed Premiere Elements 9.

  • Launch Acrobat Reader with Runtime.exec() under WINNT4, without absolut pat

    Hi,
I would like to launch Acrobat Reader from a Swing application. This works fine with Runtime.exec() as long as I provide the full path to the AcroRd32.exe. The problem is that I cannot predict the location of this exe on the systems of the users. Athough is in the Windows PATH, since I can launch from the windows execute-dialog, the Runtime.exec() is not able to locate the file.
How can I solve this problem?
    Thanks a lot!
