Cannot listen to iPod while charging

I am charging my iPod via USB through my PC, but I am unable to get to where I can listen to the music while it is charging.
I have the "Manually Manage music and Videos unchecked (saw this in help and tried this solution)
I would greatly appreciate help in this as I need it in order to not have to hear my boss!

If one of your Safari browser tabs contains an active or even paused video(YouTube, Vimeo, etc)
the music will be paused when switching to Safari.
Why why why isn't this stuff in the manual?

  • Why can't I listen to my iPod while charging it on my computer?

When I plug my iPod into my computer (PC) to charge, it doesn't let me listen to it while charging.  I have a co-worker that has an iTouch and she's able to listen to her's while charging.

If your iPod is a shuffle, it only has one connection point that is for charging, data transfer, and headphones.  Therefore, it's not possible to connect the headphones while it is charging.
If the iPod is a nano, classic, or touch, it has a dock connector (for charging and data transfer) that is separate from headphones jack.  Therefore, you can use the iPod (as an iPod) while it is connected for charging.

  • Using iPod while charging..

Is it okay to use my iPod while charging? Does it not affect my battery? Thanks.

    Yes, it's OK.

  • Is it recommended to not use your ipod while charging it?

We'll I've heard that using your ipod while charging decreases the batteries life, is this true?

I have not heard that. Doing so will increase the time reqired to fully charge the iPod.

  • Is it okay to use your new iPod Touch before charging it for the first time? I did and then listened to it while charging and syncing. Thanks

Just got the 5G Touch. I turned it on and was using the camera and stuff before I charged it for the first time. Then while charging, I listened to the music I was syncing through the speakers. This okay? I remember reading to always charge full before ever doing anything on them. Doesnt say anything in the startup manual though.
    Thanks guys.

Should be OK. Just make sure that the iPod is charging.

  • Safe to listen to music while charging Ipod mini?

    Hello all,
I been trying to find information (google and this forum) about this but had no luck.
I was wondering if it's safe to listen to music while you are charging the Ipod?
The equipment that I have is a 2nd Gen Ipod mini. I also use the USB Power adapter (good thing to have).
    Best regards!

    Hi Vamp2390,
Thanks for you reply. I have been reading a lot that you can do to save the IPod's battery life and how to take care of it but I could not find anything related to use it while it's been charged.
It also looks like there are accessories, like speakers and car lighter adapters that allows you to use your IPod while is being charged.
In the mean time, I'll use my trusty AC Adapter and use my IPod while is charging.
    Regards!

  • Is it possible to play the iPod while charging it?

Is it possible? I am a dj and I use my iPod as a music source, but I need it to play for at least 4 hours.
Is it possible to use a power adapter to charge, and still be able to play music while charging?
If so, which accessories would be needed?
    Thanks!

Yes, I do this all the time.
You need a USB power adapter that connects an AC outlet to your USB cable and then to your iPod.
You can get one from Apple here:

Or get one from other manufacturers (I have one from Griffin, my wife has one from DLO). Check the prices.

reset the device (home and sleep/wake button for 5-10sec)
make sure mute isnt turned on or the ringer/silent switch
-double tap home and swipe the bottom window to the left and make sure the mute button hasnt been toggled (if its set up there, might be screen lock depending on settings)
reset all settings (settings >general >reset)
if all else fails try a backup/restore

  • Listening to music while charging

I tried to search and couldn't find much info on this. Is it possible to charge the 4th gen nano and listen to music at the same time? if so do i need to change settings or ? thanks for any help

    Hello meeks65,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Yes, it is possible, and there really isn't any changes to make in regards to settings. However, you may have to [Safely Disconnnect|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1853] the iPod, to remove the "Do not Disconnect" screen, and then leave it plugged in. You should see the charging symbol at the top of the iPod's screen.
    Hope this helps.

  • I just charged my ipod. while charging i could read the menu but then it all turned to lines. how do i fix it?

My ipod was completely dead when i started charging it. once it turned on i could read the screen. by the time it was completely charged all i can see is shifting lines. can i fix it?

You can work through the remaining five 5 R's of troubleshooting.

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damage part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

  • Cannot turn off ipad while charging

My ipad powered on when I started charging it. And if I turned it off, it powered on again after a few seconds. I can't turn it off as opposed to sleep mode during charging. Does anyone's ipad behave differently? The User Guide did not mention that it will power on when plugged in.

On my iPad it seems that if the iPad has below 20% power remaining, then it won't let you turn it off completely to charge it. I'm guessing it's because it wants to display the low battery message. Once it is above the 20% mark, you can hold the power button until the slider is displayed and then you can slide it to turn it off and it will stay off.

  • Can i listen music while charging ?

    Hi,
can i listen music on ipod while charging my 5gn. 30gb ipod.
and everytime i connect ipod to computer for transfering songs or to use as hd. it starts charging even if not required.
how can i stop this charging ? is it possible ?
    ny help is appreciated.
    thanks

Yes. Connect the ipod to your computer, and once it's recognized by iTunes, safely disconnect it (eject the iPod as normal). Leave it connected via the cable and the iPod will receive a charge whilst you use it.
The transfer of songs is a huge drain on the iPods battery, therefor it is essential to have power supplied to it or else the transfer may fail.
So, even if you were able to stop the charge (and you can't), you wouldn't want to.
