Cannot load java applets in Safari

I have several accounts on my machine. In one, the one I use most of the time, Safari will not load java applets. I have checked preferences and compared with those set on the other accounts. They are the same, including enabling javva and javascript. I have removed the Safari plist. I have repaired permissions. I have reset safari, cleared history and caches, used Cocktail to clear caches. I have rebooted.
I set up a new test account and it works fine.
What's going on, and how do I cure it?

I will try the pram reset, though I am not confident of it since this problem affects only one account.
On the new account business. I note that when I set up a new account, before I launch safari, there are no files in the Library related to Safari. They are created on the first launch. If I delete them all, then they are recreated on another launch. What if, in the affected user directory, I exported the bookmarks and/or dragged the bookmarks file to the desktop. Then deleted all evidence of safari from the account. I should now have, in effect, a virgin install of safari. Launching it would create all of the necessary files and directories. If safari works with java applets, or does not, I can simply move the bookmarks back in and be no worse off than I was in the beginning.
Any serious fault with that? I am working at home today so cannot do this until I am in the office on Monday.

  • Can't load Java applets in Safari

Ever since I installed Snow Leopard, Safari can't load Java applets. I get a blue Lego brick with a question mark, and a message telling me that Java was not found.
Firefox is unaffected, and I get the same error whether Safari is open in 32-bit or 64-bit mode. Programs written in Java, such as Vuze, are unaffected.

Create another admin user account log into it, and see if the problem persists. If not, the issue's within the original account, usually amongst preference (plist) files. If so, then it's system-wide and reinstalling the 10.6.2 COMBO update, repairing permissions, and restarting should do the trick.

  • Cannot load Java applets

Okay. So I have been having trouble loading games from Pogo.com recently.
I can start to load the games, but they get stuck at "Loading Game".
    How can I fix this?

Recently I investigated the issue with Safari and Java applets and my conclusion is that the problem is related to the browser rather than to the Java runtime: if you install Opera, everything should work. I recommend you to review this thread:

  • Discoverer Plus -- Cannot Load Java Applet after JRE upgrade to 6

    Hi,
After our users upgrade Java Runtime Environment to version 6 Update 1, Discoverer Plus stops working, the applet is opened but does not load.
Uninstalling the update solves the problem.
I disabled the automatic upgrade of Sun JRE on a few machines, but we have over 100 users.
Did anyone else face the same issue and is there any patch for the Discoverer installation?
    Thanks,
    Vlad

    Hi George
You can get the 10.1.2.2 patch (4960210) on MetaLink. Be warned though that this not a small patch. It is 1.6 GB in size and is a full upgrade of the 10.1.2.0.2 application server.
I had some interesting problems when I first starting patching up to 10.1.2.2. First of all, if you are using a Windows server, you need to make sure that there are no lowercase characters used in your computer name. I know this sounds crazy but 10.1.2.2 will fail on Windows if you have this. If you've already got lowercase names in your machine you can't simply change the machine name to upper case because your existing application server will stop working as it embeds the machine name into dozens of configuration and setup locations. None of the Microsoft applications care what you call the machine as they don't embed like this but Oracle does. You'll probably end up having to reinstall the application server. However, the good news is that this only affects Windows and only when you have lowercase characters in your machine name.
Secondly, also on Windows, make sure there are no spaces anywhere within any of the folder names from where you will be installing the patch. This is another cause of failure. Thus, don't put the patch on your Desktop as there are spaces in Documents and Settings!
Thirdly, and this can happen on all platforms, if you are using an Infrastructure database and it is at 10.1.0.4 or less you will need to upgrade that database to 10.1.0.5 before you start any of the application server upgrades. If you don't do this your upgrade will fail. The release notes for the patch clearly state this but because they are very large I missed this the first time round and - oops - failed upgrade.
By the way, it seems Oracle have also released a patch (5758865) , available on MetaLink, with the fix for IE7. This is a one-off patch and requires a password which means you will have to raise a service request and tell Oracle you are having trouble drilling in Viewer when using IE7. This patch is applicable whether you are using relational or OLAP modeling. It can only be installed on top of 10.1.2.2.
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • Cannot load Java plug-in and access R12 Oracle form from client

Hi, one of my user cannot open Oracle form when accessing R12 environment using IE6. After selecting responsibility and menu, it got stuck after 50% processing when trying to load Java applet. It never got completed even after waiting for 2-3 hours.
Is there any browser setting that needs to be modified? I checked popup blocker and activeX setting. All seem to be in order. Kindly assist. Thanks.

    Hi,
What is the difference between this client and other clients?
Delete the browser cache/history files and check then. If this does not help, enable trace for JRE (as per Note: 549423.1 - How to enable tracing and logging for Sun JRE (Native Plug-in)) and see if it shows any errors when you encounter this issue.

  • Java Applets in Safari

I'm trying to run a Java applet with safari, but everytime I go to the webpage all I get is a grey box with a picture of a coffee cup that has two arrows circling it. Nothing loads after that. Any idea how to fix this?

    Hi ad1054,
Are you sure you have java 1.6 and if so, how did you get it? I believe the latest version available from apple is 1.5.0_06. Java 1.6 was only just released by Sun, and, if I'm not mistaken, only for PC and Linux. Apple may be waiting to force people to pay for Leopard to get Java 1.6. (Though you can get a beta version from developer.apple.com.) As Hawaiian_Starman mentioned above, you can check your java version.
That said, you don't have to worry about lower versions of Java because Java is backwards compatible. In fact, if you use Firefox (sorry, but I just checked it in Safari, and got a blank page so I guess Safari, like IE, doesn't support this) and go to "about:plugins" you will see something like
    <pre>
    Java Embedding Plugin 0.9.5g2
    File name: MRJPlugin.plugin
Runs Java applets using the latest installed versions of Java. For more information: Java Embedding Plugin. Run version test: Test Your JVM.
    MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled
    application/x-java-vm Embedded JVM xjv Yes
application/x-java-applet Embedded Java Applet xja Yes
application/x-java-applet;version=1.1 Embedded Java Applet xja11 Yes
application/x-java-applet;version=1.1.1 Embedded Java Applet xja111 Yes
application/x-java-applet;version=1.1.2 Embedded Java Applet xja112 Yes
application/x-java-applet;version=1.1.3 Embedded Java Applet xja113 Yes
application/x-java-applet;version=1.2 Embedded Java Applet xja12 Yes
application/x-java-applet;version=1.2.1 Embedded Java Applet xja121 Yes
application/x-java-applet;version=1.2.2 Embedded Java Applet xja122 Yes
application/x-java-applet;version=1.3 Embedded Java Applet xja13 Yes
application/x-java-applet;version=1.3.1 Embedded Java Applet xja131 Yes
application/x-java-applet;version=1.4 Embedded Java Applet xja14 Yes
application/x-java-applet;version=1.4.1 Embedded Java Applet xja141 Yes
application/x-java-applet;version=1.4.2 Embedded Java Applet xja142 Yes
application/x-java-applet;version=1.5 Embedded Java Applet xja15 Yes
    </pre>
You can see from this list that all versions up to and including the currently installed one are supported. The only thing you have to fear is that the applet you are trying to use was compiled with Java 1.6 and is not itself backwards compatible. However, when I made a test applet of this type, I got a red X, and no coffee cup.
If you see the red X, and I think the coffee cup as well, you should be able to right-click (or ctrl-click) the icon. If so, this will give you a menu with "console" and "about" choices. "About" will give you the version of Java you have, and "console" is supposed to show you the errors that kept the applet from working. (However, with my Java 1.6 test, the console was empty.)
    I hope this helps.

  • Loading Java Applet....again

    Hi,
I've done a search on this topic and have not been able to resolve the problem.
The problem being that after trying to "Run a Form on the Web" using test.fmx, The loading java applet message stays in the browser indefinitely.
Some have suggested turning on the JInitiator Console to get a better understanding of the problem.
My problem is that when I click the "Show Java Console" and then "apply" in the JInitiator Control Panal nothing happens. I'm completely new to all of this, is there anything else I have to do to display the Java console?
Java consoles aside, any suggestions as what else I can do? When I first run the form I get an "applet loading" message in the browser status bar for a split second, followed by "exception:http://<servername.domain>/forms60java/f60web.jar"
    I'm using IE 5.00 and jinitiator 1.1.7.27
    Thanks for any help.
    Darren

Anyone knows what's the classid of Jinitiator 1.1.7.31?
Thanks a heap for any replies

  • Loading Java Applet Failed in CRM 2007 Web Client Marketing

We have recently upgraded our CRM 4.0 sp6 system to CRM 2007.  As part of this upgrade we configured the SAP Best Practice Building Blocks.  Logging on to the webclient using the user MKT_MAN (assigned business role BP_MKT_MAN) we get an error when trying to run the Marketing Calendar.  the error we get is that "Loading Java Applet Failed" the specific applet in question is: Applet com.sap.crm.mkt.calendar.applet.MktCalendar notinited
We have implemented the following SAP notes to try and rectify the issue but with no success:
Note 1177590 - Version 2.0 of Marketing Calendar java applet
Note 1237477 - Marketing Calendar is not displayed, Tensegrity Library
Any ideas as to what can resolve this issue
    Thanks in advance
    Eddie

    Hi Eddie
I have exactly the same problem, using IE 6.0 & JRE 1.4.2_07.
What I have found is that users in my company with the same configuration on their machines, same settings as above can load the Marketing Calendar without issue.
Have loaded the same notes as yourself already.
I have managed to get it to working by switching off my proxy settings entirely. This is fine for testing but of no use for go live.
I have also found that when it does finally load successfully it is incredibly slow in comparison to other functionality within the WEB UI.
Thus far I have logged an OSS Message regarding this matter, could I recommend you do the same, this should encourage SAP that the issue is not isolated.
    Good Luck

  • Load: class oracle.forms.engine.Main not found Stuck at loading Java Applet

    Hi there
I have recently installed App Server 10.1.2.0 on a new machine.
Copied all my forms to an appropriate directory. Set up formsweb.cfg to allow them to run and have attempted to run them.
Unfortunately I get stuck at the Loading Java Applet screen, and in the status bar at the bottom it says :
    load: class oracle.forms.engine.Main not found
I have taken a look at the Java Console, and the 2 things that jump out at me are that it appears to be looking for a forms90 directory, which seems odd since I am using App Server 10.1.2.0.2 and Forms Builder 10.1.2.0.2 meaning it should be looking in a forms directory not forms90 directory shouldnt it ?
And also, it mentions class with no proxy, so on looking around the forums it has been suggested that put the proxy details into jinitiator, which I have done, but this has made no difference either.
Can anyone suggest anything else please ?
    Java Console log follows.

Today since morning I have been facing a problem with my forms....when i complile and run my form... the browser opens with the message loading java applet
But the forms doesnt seems to open....it gets stuck at this particular point..! dont know why...
Note:It was working fine till yestarday

depending on your browser's version, make sure the address you are opening is found in your "safe" list.
If you're using IE make sure you have the address in your trusted sites. Sometimes Windows DEP (Data Execution Prevention) also stops the browser from opening.
Also make sure your network is not blocking the site.

I don't have any experience with GTO's cards, but one would expect they provide a user guide or a data sheet how to load applications.. Reasons could be:
    1. Issuer policy to have a certain security level for content management --> raise the security level to C_MAC + ENC
    2. Issuer policy this card is static --> no post-issuance

  • Loading Java Applet...  error

    Hi!
When I try to run the Sun demo SwingSet2, IE(5.0) hangs.
First I installed JRE 1.3.1(on advice of the demo site.)
Then it all end up with the text "Loading Java Applet..."
    in the grey box.
I have also tried to install different JRE versions but I just can't run a Sun demo applet (neither my own applets).
I would be very happy if someone could solve this problem.
    /Jonas
    InternetExplorer: 5.00.3315.1000
    Windows 2000

    Hi:
I just have a comment and one last suggestion.
First, I am able to run the SwingSet2Plugin.html with both IE5.0 and IE5.5 on Windows 98SE. I am currently using JDK/JRE1.3.1. A few months ago, I upgraded to 1.3.1_02 and found that some of my applets stopped working for no apparent reason, so I went back to 1.3.1.
If your applets stopped working because of an upgrade in JDK or JRE and you're using Windows, I suggest that you make sure that the previous version of the JDK/JRE were cleanly removed from the system. You can verify this by going to the Control Panel and click on Add/Remove Program to see if there are multiple versions of the software. Also, click start, run REGEDIT and look in the following folder for any remaining references to the JDK/JRE:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-->Software-->Microsoft-->Code Store Database-->Distribution Units
look for something with {...} or the prefix {CAFE...  and remove any remaing older versions (I know most people wouldn't touch regedit with a ten-foot pole but this may be the only way to solve the problem).
I use a lot of applet and am particularly interested in cases where ppl have problems with using applet and find out how the problems are resolved.  If my suggestions worked or if you find out what caused the problem, I would appreciate your sharing the info.
    Good Luck!
