So in simple terms, the fix invovled ensuring the nvidia module is loaded before the bbswitch module. I'm not sure about the necessity of the things that follow but the fix may possibly also require removing bumblebee and possibly requires removing nvidia from repos and building the driver downloaded from nvidia.
This fix could be completely unrelated to the problems I was having with arch but I cannot verify the fix on arch specifically cos I installed every distro under the sun trying to get it all working and I got it to work on a non arch distro.
So... I'm not sure if I should really mark this a solved because I haven't/can't verify it on arch and technically the solution involved changing to another distro but in fact, I know it has absolutely nothing to do with arch since I saw the same behaviour on 3 other distros. If I have time, I will reinstall arch and verify but for the moment, I have a lot of work to catch up on now that I have a working nvidia driver I can actually use for dev
Anyway, what I think is going on is there is some bizarre issue with bbswitch that stops the nvidia driver from being found because on the current distro I have installed, if I have no bbswitch, no bumblebee and no nvidia modules loaded or services running etc. I can modprobe the nvidia driver and all works fine. I can then modprobe the bbswitch driver and that works too. IF I modprobe the bbswitch driver first and then modprobe the nvidia driver, I get this error that says the nvidia module cant be found. The location it prints is in some updates directory whcih is odd too because I installed from nvidia source and never installed updates at all and made sure that there were absolutely no repo nvidia drivers or updates etc.

  • Cannot access POGO games.Downloaded 6.0 and it says it is not compatible with Java Console 6.0.22, java console 6.0.23 and Norton Toolbar 2010.9.06. Pogo needs the Java Console to run. What version of Firefox can I download to access the pogo games.

the following is the error message I receive when accessing pogo games:

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The Java plugin (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) is used to run Java applets.<br />
The Java Console extensions are only needed if you want to check the code for errors and debug Java applets and are not needed for running Java applets as a visitor.

If you just updated to Firefox 3.6.'''6''' - a new preference was added to the Connection Settings proxy preferences in Tools > Options > Advanced >> Network tab - Connection = Settings = '''Use system proxy settings'''
The default setting now is for '''Use system proxy settings''', and that might be causing your problem.
If you select '''''No proxy''''' and restart Firefox your problem should be fixed.

  • I cannot get pogo games to load

I need help getting pogo games to load. I am allowing pop ups but the game rooms still will not load.
I have the latest Java updates and Apple updates on my mac.

  • Java7 and Java6 will not work opening pogo games on firefox, but works perfectly for IE, what can I do to fix this issue?

Java will not work on the computer all of a sudden. Now when I go to open a Pogo game room up i get a Mozilla red lego piece in the corner saying "Some plug ins have been De-activated for your safety, in the box will be "Java (TM) platform SE 6 U". I have removed Java7 and reloaded it, after that not working found Java6 and loaded and reloaded it and it is not working.
Now after 3 minutes of the room not loading Pogo will give me the error message of
Java Not Found or Not Working
    Explanation:
This error means Java (one of the technologies built into most browsers) is not working correctly on your browser.
You must have Java installed on your computer in order to run Pogo games, and it must be functioning properly. Either you don't have Java installed yet, or the Web browser you're currently using doesn't support Java or you have Java (or Javascript) disabled in your browser.
    How to Fix the Problem:
Java is a free download that is required to play Pogo games. Not all computers come with Java pre-installed.
If you haven't played Pogo games before and are getting this error, you probably just need to install Java on your computer.
For instructions on installing Java for your operating system and browser click here.
If you believe Java might be installed but disabled for your browser, please be sure to enable the plugin for your browser. If you need help, click here.
If you already have Java installed and it is not disabled, your Java may be out-of-date or no longer working. In that case, your Java might need to be upgraded or reinstalled. If you need help, click here.
I have done the click here in last sentence and all it wants me to do is download Java7 which was the first reason it was not working.
Hopefully I have explained this well enough, from Mozilla this is what I get BUT if I go to Internet Explorer (which I HATE) the Java6 and Java7 work perfectly fine. So apparently the Java is downloaded correctly I just can not get it to play nicely with Mozilla and that is my main goal.
EA games help page has gone through it all with me and have proven over and over (after 1 hour sessions, 45 waits for them) Java is working on my computer perfectly with IE just not on Firefox and with the rural situation I have become dependent on Mozilla because of the no fiber optics here it has been my best and only source of successfully using the internet here in the far out part of the country.

Thank you so much, for once in my computer life I knew what the problem was, what caused it, why it was caused, what it did, what it made it do and most importantly how to fix it and to do it correctly and expeditiously. I can not Thank You all enough for all of the help! I also have Pogo mailed this to all on my friends list, where they have all learned as I have and have fixed theirs also. and the message is being spread. Thank You again, I just can not say it enough.

  • Firefox will not load. It says firefox cannot load, your profile is missing or inaccessiable. Help!

All of sudden firefox would not work. When I click on the icon, I get a message that says Firefox cannot load, your profile is missing or is inaccessiable. I have tried downloading firefox, everything seems fine, and than the same message appears. No matter what I do I cannot get it to work. I am a long time user of firefox, so this is driving me nuts. I hate having to use Internet Explorer.

Sounds like Firefox is "hanging at exit". That problem is frequently caused by an Extension or a Plugin. Read all of the following articles.<br /><br />
NOTE: Establish a habit of exiting/closing Firefox with Firefox button > Exit or File > Exit to allow an orderly shutdown of Firefox and closing of all of the files that Firefox has open.

  • I cannot play Pogo games for the past two days, get various reasons and cannot talk to someone who will help

I am a member of Club Pogo and the past two days have been unable to play the games by using Firefox. The most frustrating thing is that I am old, cannot follow ALL of the instructions and feel I need to talk to a real live person to take me step by step to the proper categories so I can once again play my games without all of this hassle. Pogo games usually use the Java plugin.

  • I cannot get pogo games to work

i am having trouble getting pogo game to work, i have downloaded jave and have the browser enabled, but still no luck. any ideas?

On my MAC book pro (early 2008) pogo.com works. But sometimes it just hangs. What I feel is when you open different sites on pogo, dont minimize them. Keep them in back ground. Sound weird, but that way minimum I can play my High Stake Pool

  • I recently encountered a problem playing POGO games via firefox.

on June 18 Pogo changed the programing on its home page. Immediately after those changes were installed, I was unable to play the embedded games on Pogo when using Firefox BUT was able to play them using Internet Explorer. Here is what I learned today. I have a Zone Alarm tool bar on both IE and Firefox. In both I block website tracking of my computer usage. However, ONLY after I strop blocking facebook connect tracking, can I continue to use Firefox to play those games. I still have facebook connect blocked in IE and can play the games anyway. So, why is it that this setting only prevents Firefox from allowing game play?

    What does this setting?
If this is a specific ZoneAlarm setting to block the cookies of web pages (domains) then you need to contact ZA for advice if it behaves differently in IE than in Firefox.

  • Cannot play Pogo games anymore; games just won't load since upgrading FireFox two days ago.

This is the second time after upgrading that I could not go to sites I was already on when the upgrade flashed. This not only affects sites while on Firefox, but also when I go to Internet Explorer

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Why cannot play pogo games, they dont load?

i can play some games, but others i cant, ive tried every fix online, but nothing works. im ready to cancell my pogo subscription. i know they are having trouble!

    Hello,
Starting in Firefox 24, all versions of the Java plugin are "Click to Play" blocked, meaning that you have to click to activate Java for each site. See the [[How to enable Java if it's been blocked]] article for more information.
'''Note:''' To make sure that your Java plugin is working, you can visit the test pages listed in the article, [[Use the Java plugin to view interactive content on websites]]. If an "Activate Java" message box appears, click inside the box to activate the Java plugin.
When you see the "Activate Java" message box, simply click it to load the Java content normally.
    <br><br>
    [[Image:Fx24-JavaActivate]]
If there is no visible area to activate Java content in the page, click the red plugin icon in the address bar. In the message panel that opens, choose "Allow Now" to enable Java content temporarily.
    <br><br>
    [[Image:Fx24-JavaAllowNow]]
    <br><br>
The next time you visit the site or any other that uses Java you will see this message again.
If you want to always activate Java for a particular site, you can use the "Allow and Remember" option shown above.
After activating Java, you may also see a "Security Warning" dialog box, asking you to confirm that you want to run Java. This warning comes from Java itself, not from Firefox.
Does this solve your problem? Let us know.
