ive tried all the different resets etc mentioned on other peoples posts and still no joy, its very frustrating as i think my hard drive is on its way out and id like to back up some files etc before it fails all together but i cant because of this problem!!
any suggestions what the problem could be??

  • New ipod touch won't work with itunes 10.6.3 says it needs 11.1 but I cannot load that on my macbook using OSX 10.5.8 any way around this?

New ipod touch won't work with itunes 10.6.3, says it needs 11.1 or newer but I cannot load that onto my MacBook running on OSX 10.5.8 - is there anyway around this?

No. If your MacBook has an Intel processor you can update to OSX 10.6.8 and then install the latest iTunes.
A 5G iPod with iOS 7 requires that if you have a Mac you have OSX 10.6.8 or later.
    You can get 10.6.8 here:

  • Cannot recognize usb device

When i plug my Iphone 3G in to my XP Windows computer I get the error message "Cannot Recognize Usb Device" it only happens with this phone as I have a Iphone 4 and my computer recognizes it straight away.
    can anyboby help plz?

Have you tried other USB ports? It has to be USB 2.0, the other thing you might do is reset the router and computer - by turning off computer, unplug computer and unplug router, after about 30 seconds plug them back in and turn the computer on.
I walked 4 customers through this yesterday and it worked each time.

Look in Finder > Preferences > General tab > check External Disks to show the usb device on the desktop.
Do the same in the Sidebar tab if desired.

I have seen reports of people who have replaced the processor - putting a core 2 duo where there was a core cuo - and Lion still will not work. Be cautious about doing this.
    Best of luck.
Oh thank you I was unaware of this. Yes please be cautius if you intend to replace your processor.

  • Using a mtech hiface usb device with macbook air is producing a lot of static. when i touch the mac air it stops then starts when i remove my hand. Help?

Im using a mtech hiface usb device for audio on my Mac Air. If i disconnect it from its ac and disconnect the hiface from the usb then take the Mac Air to a new location to work then return it I have an awful lot of static. im assuming its static electricity from the move or something. ive tried to ground it with my body by touching the mac air while touching something grounded. The static stops at that point but starts all over when i move my hand away from the computer. Any suggestions, could it be a setting in the USB? Thanks.

how long have you had your ipod? mine did the same but after a while you need to get a new one because of the battery...

  • New wdtv, 1.02.17, cannot detect usb-device

Have had wdtv for years. Small to no problems. Use only external harddrive, no streaming at all. Bought a new wdtv for daughter the other day. First thing noticed is new GUI (the old one was better). But ok. The other thing is that the wd my book or the wd my passport is not detected. Waited for several minutes, in case the new wdtv was slow. Nothing happened. Tried the old one (same chassis but onother gui), 1.12.14. Both usb-devices detected at once.  Is it something I am missing? I have used wdtv for years, since 1. generation, only for usb-connection. Have had almost no problems (use apple-tv for streaming  Thanks

  • Cannot unmount USB device

I have an Archos AV5100 connected to my Mac via USB, however whenever I try and "eject" it, after a few seconds, it comes back. If I disconnect it, I get a warning telling me I may have corrupted files on my USB device.
The only workaround I have at the moment is to shut down my Mac when I want to disconnect my Archos, but this is not satisfactory.
Is the problem with the Mac or the Archos? If it's the Archos, I'm probably screwed, as (like many companies) they won't support Macs.

After you disconnect it and get the warning, are
there, in fact, any further problems with it? The
warning is dire, but if the data on the Archos
remains stable, this may be something you will just
    have to live with.
Well, there aren't any problems that I know of so far. Archos have been no help whatsoever, simply telling me in their first response to disconnect the Archos as per the instructions (which I already told them I was doing) and their second response was barely understandable,
"This problem comes from the USB controller on Mac OS X. What you need to do is to terminate the USB connexion son the Terminal, or via the "Suspend Application" application.[sic]". Very helpful.
The reason I am concerned is that as soon as I click on the eject icon for the AV500 or drag it to the Trash, the red light on the AV500 (that indicates disk read/write activity) starts flickering away and before it has stopped, the AV500 icon has reappeared on the desktop.

  • Cannot load backup onto older MacBook Pro

I own a early 2008 MacBook Pro and my mom owns a early/late 2011 MacBook Pro. Mine has recently been showing signs of slowing down a little bit and my mom asked if I wanted to switch computers since I will be going back to school and she rarely uses hers. Well we both backed up our computers on the AirPort Time Capsule and wiped our computers. Everything from my 2008 laptop loaded fine onto her 2011 laptop but when she went to load everything from her volume on the AirPort Time Capsule, it cannot find the volume. Is this because all of her files are going onto an older MacBook Pro? Both are updated to the newest software and everything. Anyone have any idea what is going on and how we can "Find" her backup and load it onto the 2008 computer? Thanks!

Mavericks can have issues. I presume you are attempting to migrate the infomation.
First mount the TC hard disk on the older computer in finder. You might need to do it manually. ie Go, Connect to server if the computer is having trouble seeing the TC drive at all.
Then it might not easily find the backup. Please ensure you have ipv6 turned on to link-local.
You also can have permissions issues. This can become very problematic.
In the end you may need to manually restore files, by mounting the sparsebundle in finder.
See Pondini Q17.. but please do read from 14-16 so you understand it.

Also the stuff on the home page about migrate is important albeit it is not up to Mavericks.

  • Cannot install USB device, install wizard freezes when installing SiLib.sys

    Hello,
I have installed LabView and all the software required for running a program for tremor evaluation. When I plug a TremorScope via USB connection it starts Hardware Installation wizard, but the installation does not complete and system freezes when installing SiLib.sys. The OS is Windows XP.
Do you have any solution how to finish the installation or what is going wrong. Thank you for your help.

Why don't you ask the vendor of the device? It does not have anything to do with LabVIEW.

  • Cannot eject external devices from Macbook Air.

For the past few months I have been unable to eject external drives, and volumes from my Air. I click on the eject (pyramid) icon, and nothing happens 100% of the time. I need to go to disk utility to be able to eject. Rather annoying.
Does anyone have a suggestion, and hopefully something less drastic than a complete os reinstall?

Hi, an example if this behaviour for me is when iTunes is running and playing music from my NAS, it will not allow ejection of that share. This might be the same with cable-connected external drives. Try making sure that any app that uses files on the drive is shut down and then retry the eject from Finder.

  • Equium - Windows can't load the device driver for USB dongle

I have been using a dongle without problems for about a month, however now it is saying (in device manager ) "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
what does this mean and how can i fix it?

hi it's a vodafone 3gb cheap as chips dongle
    it's an equium a200 i think
everything cam as one on the dongle, it uninstalled ok after initial problem, but now won't acknowledge it is in fact a dongle, just a 'usb mass filter' something or other?
i know i sound completely stupid, but when it comes to technology i am!
