I can load Washington post -> entertainment -> puzzles -> Sunday Puzzle. but then loading stalls at URL http://games.washingtonpost.com/games/sunday-crossword/sunday-crossword.aspx
leaving a screen with an empty progress bar.

That is a Flash application.
I see that you have an old Flash 10.3 version installed.
Did you downgrade to that version because of problems with the Flash 11.4 or 11.3 player?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

OK. I will work backwards.
You certainly don't want to have to delete apps every time that they need an update, for any number of reasons. Losing data first and foremost would be a drag, but the overall hassle would be absurd. All things being equal, you should be able to update apps in the future after you delete them and reinstall them. I delete and reinstall apps all the time and I am also able to update them when updates are available for the apps. I just wanted to know if you had any success in any fashion installing apps.
Resyncing/refreshing the Apple ID/iTunes account wouldn't seem to be the issue either if you can download apps or other content from the iStores. Your ID is being accepted.
That leaves us with I'm not sure what. But I think I would try this trick fix and see if it helps.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date one year ahead. Try to update the apps again. If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try to update the apps again.

I cannot access Washington Post website

Stopping a Progress Bar when a page has loaded.

I currently have an application that uses a linkbar with a viewstack. If I click on a particular link, a component mxml page with an advanced datagrid is loaded. However, the datagrid can take up to 10 seconds to load. So, I need to implement a progress bar that will run until the page is completely loaded/ painted. What phase and or event should I use to capture this.

I added your Preloader AS class and called the preloader from my application class and recieved an error can the preloader only be used in the Application class.

Is it possible to add the Preloader directly to the Component.mxml in question. My complile time issue is corrected but the preloader doesn't seem to work.

Do everything in a seperate thread. Create a progress bar in the main thread, then create a new thread for initializing your app. Once the init is done, hide the progress bar and make your app visible.

Progress bar while PDF loading on browser

Hi,
I have a servlet which is getting the data and rendering a PDF form and display the form into user's browser. I want to show a progress bar or a waiting image/message on the browser when a rendered PDF is loading. I found out that there is no delay in any step of the code itself but the PDF is taking time to load in a browser and this delay is increased when I apply reader extensions on rendered PDF. Is there any way to show a progress because the delay is too much.

Browser progress bar still in processing mode after loading the page

In my project ,I am facing one problem.
After completion of loading page the IE browser progress bar is still showing that loading is not yet done. That means progress bar is in still processing mode.
Can any one please tell me what is the reason behind it.

Are you creating the pages dynamically with JavaScript? If you do a document.open() and then do document.write()s but forget to do a document.close(), the loading animation will continue to display.

I have a page built in FC that contains media that requires some time to download (36mb or so) and my client loves everything I have done exept the load page. I have no idea where I need to go to make adjustments to this page. All I want to do is add a background image to let the impatient visitors know that the page they are looking for is loading. I am also curious as to why it takes this page so long to load since the media is not embedded into the swf. The more important question is where I need to go to create a custom layout for the load in page with the white on white progress bar. The page in question is here:

Short answer is, not in Flash Catalyst right now.
But you can change it in Flash Builder with a little coding.

That's normally produced by a damaged iTunes.msi. The basic treatment for it is given in the following user tip:

... but since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Downloads Center, things have grown more difficult. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now start with *step 4* from the user tip, and proceed from there.
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

Another post TLS server engine: cannot load CA data

Sorry I inadvertently send a question without having actually written it.
Anyway, I have seen the earlier post on this topic and have not made any progress.
I still get the folloiwng in my logs
"TLS server engine: cannot load CA data

I have looked on the cyrus wiki, and they say the following about certificates

I have tried this and have the same results.
the permissions for my certs look like this

There is most certainly no password required for cyrus-global.key
I have added the diffiehelman stuff at the end.
All in all I can't understand why I'm having this issue. Its the same if I use a certificate generated by certificate manager or the default certificate.
I'm beginning to wonder if there is bug in cyrus

Since I am using a self-signed certificate perhaps the tls server engine doesnt accept the issuer and common name to be the same and hence issues a warning that it cannot load the certificate authority.
If I had used a commercial certificate authority then I would have had a root certificate from that authority which in turn would be the issuer of my certificate. Since I have a self signed certificate there is no root authority certificate to load..perhaps thats what this is all bout. When using wireshark as far as I can tell the traffic is being encrypted with ssl so apparently ssl is working.
Perhaps if one creates a root certificate and then use that to create a specific certificate for the server and sign it with the root cert the warnings will go away. One of these days I will try that. As for now..ssl is working as far as I can tell. If I'm wrong I'll be happy to be corrected by more knowledgable people.

You should e able to install FlashPlayer separately on IE and Firefox. So you may use Flash 11.3 on IE and 11.2 or 10.3 on Firefox.
Work from the administrator account. First of all sort out Firefox, use the Adobe uninstaller to uninstall Flash before reinstalling 11.2 Afterwards check that IE is ok, the Uninstaller may have changed that so you may need to reinstall Flash on IE.

You are apparently using an outdated Firefox 8. That is not secure you should update to the latest Release Firefox 13 (or within a day or so Firefox 14)
You may also encounter problems relating to use of RealPlayer software and that software may affect use of FlashPlayer 11.3

When you finish set Firefox's FlashPlayer not to upgrade, and until this issue is resolved do not follow suggestions from Adobe, or Plugincheck etc. to upgrade Flash.
Use this test page form Adobe in each browser and account to check Flash is working ok
