Cannot locate numbers spreadsheet
I created a spreadsheet in Numbers a few months ago and now I cannot find it anywhere - any advice would be appreciated!
Hi Lauree,
Try a finder search on ".numbers"
If you've already done that, or if it doesn't bring up the file, it might be usefult to know the details of wthat you have done to find the file.

Cannot Open Numbers Spreadsheet (Numbers on iPhone)
I have a spreadsheet that I created and regularly update on my iPhone using Numbers.
I recently upgraded to version 1.5 of the Numbers app. Since then, one of my spreadsheets won't open - tapping on the file displays the progress wheel for a second and then nothing. The spreadsheet in question is 2.3Mb and contains a large number of formulae. All of my other spreadsheets are unaffected. When I try to send it to email / iTunes, etc. I see the message 'Send "(null)" to iTunes as:'. When I tap "Numbers", the screen displays a progress bar and "Sending...", but doesn't progress any further.
I used an application to recover the spreadsheet from the iTunes backup (http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4974), renamed the resulting .numbers-tef filename as .numbers, but when I attempt to open the document in Numbers on my Mac, I receive the message 'The index.xml file is missing.'.
I also cannot import the retrieved file to my iPhone. After uploading the recovered document via iDisk and attempting to import on my iPhone, I receive the message 'Spreadsheet couldn't be imported. Numbers only supports documents saved with iWork '09.'
I opened the .numbers package and examined the index.db file and can see that it contains my data, but just can't figure out how to either:
get it on to my iPhone;
open it in Numbers on my mac.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.I received a message from the Apple team asking for a copy of the files I extracted. I have yet to hear back from them.
I did download and install the latest version of Numbers for iPhone - 1.6. The spreadsheet that I was having all the trouble with - that I had left on my iPhone - opened after a short delay and none of my data was lost.
I was also able to email the spreadsheet to myself and transfer it to iTunes without issue.
Problem solved! -

Moving Numbers Spreadsheet to IOS
How does one move Numbers spreadsheets from a MacBook Pro (Numbers) to an iPad?
The iPad has Pages but I cannot locate an IOS Numbers application on the iPad. Does something have to be purchased or added to the iPad?
Thank you.You can use file sharing.
see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4088
You can also use iCloud to sync files between the two apps on your computer and iPad.

I have not updated my iPhone 3G since 2010 as I do not have a computer and have to use my daughters pc. She plugged in my phone to update through iTunes (which took all night) and in the morning it was completed. We backedup to the icloud but now mu pictures and contacts are missing. We cannot locate my contacts on icloud or on the phone.
How do I locate my missing contacts and put them back ON MY PHONE. I had over 150 contacts with information like phone numbers, birthdays, and anniversaries.
Do I need to restore the phone? Are they on the cloud?????Hi bluegrandpanash,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you backed up your iPhone to iCloud before updating the software, first try the steps under "Restore from an iCloud backup" in this article to recover your data:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

How to closed a numbers spreadsheet in ipad?
How do I close a numbers spreadsheet on my ipad 2? I cannot find a button or menu to close it. It has personal information on and the spreadsheet is password protected. I have opened it but cannot close it so if I lost my ipad, people would be able to see the personal info. That's why I need to close it.
Thanks Michael. I am finding this really hard to explain even though it's so simple. I have my passwords on a numbers spreadsheet. I password protected it. Every time I try to open it on my macbook it asks for a password. This is what I want. I open it, I update it. I close it, I want to update it again, it asks for the password again, I input the password, I update the sheet, I close it. I dont close it by opening another sheet or not worrying about it because my laptop is password protected, I hit the "X" in the top rught hand corner and close it.
Now, on my ipad I cannot do the equivlemt of clicking on the "X" in the top right hand corner as the "X" does not appear on Numbers on the iPad?
That is my question, not how to mask it by opening another sheet or looking for a work around like password protecting the iPad so it doesn't matter that the spreadsheet is still open. Just, how do I Close (X out) of a Numbers spreadsheet when it's open in my iPad?
I would really appreciate anyone helping me on this and thank you to the 2 people who have tried. -

Have you tried to locate them via Spotlight? If no success, try Easy Find. That occasionally works when Spotlight fails.

Numbers spreadsheets won't update...
Numbers spreadsheets won't update to iCloud from iPad2. Anyone know the solution to this problem?
I have upgraded my Ipad to IOS 6 and now I cannot open my spreadsheet on Numbers. This is very annoying as my last back-up of this spreadsheet is rather old. I would appreciate any advice. I tried to email the spreadsheet and I also tried to open it in iCloud - can't do anything there either.

Is it possible to print a note from numbers spreadsheet
Hi I hope someone can help. Is it possible to print a note from numbers spreadsheet. Or is there any way I can type a ticket that I can print but that will automatically transfer the data to a spreadsheet in numbers?
How about the opposite direction. You have a table with a "key" field, like a ticket #.
You make another sheet that you type in the ticket number and it pulls up the proper data in the proper location for you to print. Just a print tempalte that fills out for the ticket already entered into the data table.

Numbers spreadsheet with a guage (speedometer-like) control
I'm new to the Apple world and need to create a Numbers spreadsheet with a guage (speedometer-like) control that reacts to a value changed by a slider in real-time. Are there any Numbers featrures or add-ons that provide this type of functionality? Eventually, I'd like to move this to an iOS app. Any suggestions on nice charting and guage controls for iOS apps?
Thanks,
LisaHere is an old thread dealing with something similar to this. There is no way in Numbers to make a needle unless you are will to use and X-Y graph and perform the rotation math on many points. Said another way you cannot insert an image of a needle, then rotat it based on the value of a cell.
You CAN enter points for the outline of a needle, then perform the math to rotate the points:
The formulas are:
columns D and E are the unrotate coordinates for the arrow
F2=SQRT(D2^2+E2^2)
G2=ATAN(D2/E2)
select F2 and G2, then fill down
B2=F2*SIN($A$1+G2)
C2=F2*COS($A$1+G2)
select B2 and C2, then fill down
make A1 a slider and set the range from 0 to 8 (that'l a little more than twice around, or 2*pi)
The graph is set so the limits (min and max for X and Y) are -1 to +1
I hope this is another option -
I am not able to open a numbers spreadsheet I made earlier in numbers
I am not able to open a numbers spreadsheet I made earlier in numbers, took me quitte Some time so hopefully someone can help. In using numbers on my ipad
Hi Jeannie ...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Autofill tab. Select the Edit button next to: User names and passwords. If you see the url for that credit union website, delete it. If not, it's ok.
Now open Keychain Access located in /Applications/Utilities. Select Passwords on the left.
Type in the name of the credit union website in the search field on the right then right or control click that keychain then click Delete.
Back to Safari. Navigate to the credit union site. Login with your user name and password. You should be prompted to save that data to a new keyhain. Click yes. -

Why can't I edit this Numbers spreadsheet?
I have a Numbers spreadsheet which I created on my Mac. My problem is that when I open it, it will not allow me to make any edits. I can see all the rows, columns, etc. including the content of each cell.... but I cannot select any of these cells.
All of the header items such as Function, Table, etc., are present but they are dimmed and I'm unable to select them.
I have other Numbers spreadsheets which allow me to edit just fine. My problem is with this one particular spreadsheet.
Is there some type of setting that I have unknowingly set whch has locked this particulare spreadsheet?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you.
Numbers 3.0.1
Mac 10.9.1Thanks for your suggestion. It did not fix my problem but I continued poking around and fortunately I discovered this solution:
File > Export to> Numbers '09
The new file opened ans I was asked if I wanted to upgrade it.
I answered YES and I now have a fully funtional spreadsheet. -
Yosemite cannot share numbers 09 speadsheet using mail as excel format
Hi folks,
I hope this isn't just piling on, but Numbers '09 cannot share a spreadsheet using Mail. I know, I know, switch to the new Numbers. Since the new version has not reached feature parity with Number 09 I will remain with 09.
Any advice on this sharing issue?
All the best,
Chuck.Thank you, Wayne.
I know that I can send a file outside Numbers 09 by sending links or files directly. It is the lost functionality in the Share menu that is the issue.
