Cannot log in from laptop (GUID error) using same ID/PW as on desktop, which works

When logging into APP Store from my laptop (MacAir) , Entering user ID/PW returns error:  "No GUID is available. Contact Support for assistance."
same user ID/PW works when logging in using my iMac desktop.
Help returns no help when GUID error is entered - BTW, an explanation of every error message should be returned when entered in the help search field

This appears to be a common error with MacBooks Air. If you Google search on the wording of the error code you will find posts in forums all over the internet, and everyone that I have seen is a MacBook Air. And they also seem to have in common that I number of them had been recently worked on by Apple Geniuses at Apple Stores.
The most useful info in resolving the issue is that the image Apple Geniuses are using to format MBA HDDs has a bad .plist file.
To resolve the issue for most folks;
1. Go to Sys Prefs/Network and note your Network configuration. Then remove all network adapters.
2. Trash the file /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist
3. Restart
4. Go to SYs Prefs/Network and restore the network adapters and configure your Network settings again.
The Mac App Store should now work properly.

    You need to return it to the seller and get your money back.  You cannot reset or use the device with another AppleID installed unless you know the password for that ID.
    If the device has been jailbroken, no one on here can give you any further help...the Terms of Use prohibit us from doing so.

    Thank you for your interest in my plight with the **** Safari 11.x Ever since the upgrade, this has happend. I don't have Gues User as it's singel user Latop only. Besides if some relaive want to use I have the security chain so they can'tlook at my Mail or use Safari to login automatically to some regular sites which the Security chain demand the Key first.
    I have never tried the Safe mode nor I knew about at all. Thank for this in advance. But what is difference .. may be some driver for some peripheral or plug -ins may be not loaded like Windows 7 ... the graphic is basic EGA resolution and a few othere things don't function. Right?
    What's the experience in Safe Mode for OSX Mac 10.6.8 ?
    I check my Intego FIrewall Virus Banner X6 and Little Snitch too to see if either one is the culprit ... but Nil find there too ??   • I cannot print wirelessly to Canon PIXMA 560 using Airport Extreme and Vista PC.  Printer worked fine with Netgear previously.  With USB from printer direct to Laptop it will print.  The printer is definitely set up correctly to acknowledge the router.  W

    When I connect the printer to the Airport via USB and run Bonjour, it recognizes that I have a Canon printer but does not have the mp560 as one of the choices.
    I spoke with Apple support but they could not help...they said they thought it was a Windows issue and that it had something to do with one of the ports needing to get "unstuck" or something like that...this is really annoying because while the Airport is so much better than the Netgear it defeats the purpose of having the wireless printer, which worked so well previously.
    Can anyone offer advice?  Thanks.

    Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. In addition, the  AirPort's USB port does not support the "advanced" printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers. 
    To see if your printer is compatible, take a look at thisiFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility link. If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.
    Also you can try this Apple Tech Support article to see if it will help: Printer troubleshooting for AirPort Base Stations and Time Capsule
    Finally, check out this IBM support article to see if your printer is listed as having a Postscript or PCL3 interface. If it does, then it will most likely work with the AirPort's USB port. Printers that use the "HP LIDIL" interface must be connected to a computer directly and will not work.

  • Cannot download Mavericks from App Store - error 1004, then error 13.

    I have previously downloaded Mavericks 10.9.5, but now I cannot a second time.  When I attempt to download, I get an error code 1004..hitting cancel gives me error 13. Yosemite will download, but I don't want it until the "bugs" are worked out - maybe version 10.10.2.
    Have contacted technical support by phone and cannot talk to a real person, only the menu system..want a serial number for a Mac. Since my MacBook Pro is over 3 years old, says I must pay for a technical support session - $29 fee.

    This advise (in theory) should work. However, there are no "hidden items", but there is a "manage" link
    Clicking on that link shows me nothing other than 2 previously downloaded, and since removed, free items (free apps I tried but later removed).
    There is no "hidden" Mavericks download, or for that matter, previously downloaded Mountain Lion.
    (Which I also cannot download from the "purchases" page.)
    There is a button labeled "Reset" which links to "Reset all warnings for buying and downloading" which I have tried multiple times with no positive result.
    No joy.

  • Cannot log in and change reset my print apps options, tried resetting password - didn't work.

    I have two printers that I registed online and used one email to add each printer too. Now I cannot log in. I reset the password and that didn't work. It looks like HP has so many websites that it is SO confusing. I just want my app management page and can't get in. Any ideas?

     Are you going to http://www.eprintcenter.com? When was the last time you have successfully logged into ePrint Center? Are you getting a Ajax error code at the website? When you request to reset the password  at the above mentioned site it should send you an email that has a link that once you click on it takes you into the website to do that password reset.

  • Not receiving initial apple verification email - email address is known working and correct - Sent verification email muliple times - Actually got an welcome email from this community site using same email address - any ideas?

    Trying to setup a new ipod touch for the first time - Setup apple ID and used an existing known working email address - Accepted terms and sent verification - never received the email.  Email account is known working - (Note: actually received a welcome email from the apple community site when I posted this question).  Resent the verification email multiple times from the IPOD - No luck - Logged into PC and attempt to resend the verification email and that did not work.  Any one have any ideas?

    Check the trash folder also. Spam could get deleted immediately, depending on how you configured your Comcast account.
    Is it possible that you or a family member have another Apple ID?

  • Cannot log in on laptop/buy songs? Error 50

    Today, I was going to buy an album but when I clicked "Buy Now", an error box came up saying Error 50, and so I tried to access my account from iTunes, but it wouldn't even let me through, bringing up the same error box. I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it, and rebooted my computer. I tried to access my account from my iPad, and it it worked. I was even able to buy the album from my iPad, using the same account. But when I tried on my computer, Error 50 still appeared. So I logged out, hoping that re-logging back in would help. Now I can't even log into my account on my laptop. But everything works fine on my iPad.
    What do I do to solve my problem? I have a brand new Dell Inspiron 17 with Windows 8, if that helps.
    Please answer soon, if that is possible.

  • Why I cannot log out from Gmail? I do not see the button (usually on the top right side) I use with IE.

    I can log in my Gmail account, but when I want to log out, the usual "button" on the top right end of the window does not provide the menu with the log out choice.
    Is there something wrong with the Firefox setting or is there any other way to log out?

    Bummer!  Hopefully this will change in the future.  At least I know now that I am not crazy for not seeing the pages icon!  Thanks so much :)

    I smply cannot transfer ANY tunes from iTunes onto my Nano. I downlaod them, the little on top says they are updating but when I looking at my Nano none of tunes are there

    What are the EXACT errors your getting? I take for granted you get these when trying to install iTUnes. You need to make sure your user account is set to have administritive rights AND "Fast User Switching" is off
    Try going to control panel>add and remove and uninstall BOTH iTUnes AND quicktime. Disable antivirus and then goto apple.com to download and install the latest version of iTunes

    I am sure this question has been asked and answered before but I cannot find a definitive answer on this forum I am on the Telstra network locally but when I travel to Malaysia I use a local SIM card with data, as the rates are much cheaper than anything Telstra can matchI find I can receive emails on my bigpond email account but cannot send. Can someone from Telstra publish something in this forum or on the general Telstra help pages on what settings to use exactly so that you can send and receive emails from your bigpond account while using another network overseas.     When travelling overseas you can access your BigPond mailbox through an email program, or via the BigPond Webmailhttp://messaging.bigpond.com/inbox.do or http://webmail.bigpond.com/webedge/do/oldlogin. If you choose to use an email program, some settings will need to be adjusted, as mentioned below.
    While there are no 'perfect' settings which will work every time and from every country, it may as simple as adjusting the Authentication on the outgoing mail server.
    If you are accessing the internet via another Internet Service Provider (ISP), but want to send email through our outgoing mail server using your BigPond email address, then you must activate SMTP authentication. For the purposes of this, think of an 'SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server' as the outbound mail server.
    Make sure that you have adjusted the outgoing port settings as listed below, or configure your mail client so that it uses the service provider's SMTP server, with SMTP Authentication disabled. If you are uncertain on what this is, you can usually search for this online, or alternatively contact the service provider that is providing your internet access.
    If you are uncertain which mail platform you are on, you can confirm this by logging in here.

  • Cannot delete files from external HD error code-50

    I keep getting error code-50 when trying to delete a file from my external HD (western digital).  I've restarted everything, it is not a special character problem.  I have been using this HD for about a year and this problem just recently started.  Also I cannot run disk utility verify because the HD does not show up in disk utility.  Not sure if it ever did but I never had problems until now.

    That sounds like cause for concern, but I don't know whether it's connected with the -50 error.
    Do you have backup to restore from if things take a turn for the worse?
