  • How to find a lost BlackBerry 10 smartphone using BlackBerry Protect

Posted originally on the Inside BlackBerry Help Blog
It’s a scenario no one wants to encounter but here’s a quick overview how you can help locate your BlackBerry 10 smartphone using BlackBerry Protect if you can’t find it.
Tip: Using a BlackBerry OS device? Check out this post for help locating your device using BlackBerry Protect.
Step 1 – Enable BlackBerry Protect and turn on Location Services
To locate your smartphone you must enable BlackBerry Protect and turn on Location Services.
After you turn on Location Services, your smartphone only sends its location information when you request it through the BlackBerry Protect website, or when your battery power is low.
Swipe down from the top of the screen
    Tap  Settings > BlackBerry Protect
Set the BlackBerry Protect switch to On
    Tap Location Services
Set the Location Services switch to On
Tap  Back to save your change
Step 2 – Log in to the BlackBerry Protect website
After you enable BlackBerry Protect and turn on Location Services, complete the following steps to view the location of your smartphone on a map.
Log in to the BlackBerry Protect website located at http://protect.blackberry.com
    Click View Location
BlackBerry Protect will attempt to locate your smartphone
If your smartphone can be located, a map appears similar to the following showing the approximate location:
If you still can’t find your smartphone at the reported location, use the Play Sound option within the BlackBerry Protect website. This option makes your smartphone ring loudly for one minute as well as activating the Loud profile.
Help! BlackBerry Protect can’t locate my smartphone!
To locate your device it must be turned on and connected to the wireless network.
Because BlackBerry Protect also uses GPS, you may not locate your smartphone if it is inside a building, underground, or otherwise blocked from receiving a satellite signal.

  • Blackberry Protect - The BlackBerry ID service is temporarily unavailable

what can i do about this problem :s it works fine for everyone else

Ok, just a minute ago I was having the same problems and noone seemed to have the fix yet... So, I decided to call my carrier (T-mobile) and spoke with tech support. I specifically asked for a Blackberry Expert (believe me, the other tech support people I spoke with just kept telling me to turn my BB on and off and also made me do a complete wipe which did not fix it). What seemed to be the problem was that my blackberry was set on "voice only" on their Blackberry tool. She then changed it to "data and voice" and made me do another reset. Right after that, it fix all the internet problems I had been having with my Blackberry, I was able to log in to my Blackberry Protect and backup right away and I was also able to add an e-mail account to my blackberry phone. Hope this helps!

  • I downloaded and paid for an app on my ipad, how can I get it free on my iphone without using itunes as my laytop is broken. I cannot seem to find the purchase tab in app store? I am logged in using the same ID

I downloaded and paid for an app on my ipad, how can I get it free on my iphone without using itunes as my laytop is broken. I cannot seem to find the purchase tab in app store? I am logged in using the same ID

First, the app must be universal...designed for both iPhone/iPad:
    Tap App Store.
Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
    Tap Updates.
Tap Purchased on the resulting screen.
Locate the app in your Purchased tab.
    Tap the download icon.
The app will begin downloading and you'll be taken back to your home screen.

If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.

  • User cannot log in using Opendirectory password but can log in using Crypt

    Hi,
We have an Xsan environment with Opendirectory authentication. Most of the users are created in Workgroup manager and home folders are stored on an Xsan volume.
We have noticed (this has happened to two users recently) that sometimes user cannot log in using his password stored in Opendirectory Password server. This is permanent to some specific User/Workstation combination. Other users can log in to the same workstation and this user can log in to other workstations.
Also, if I change password type to Crypt in Workgroup manager, user can log in to this workstation. In past this happened to another user/workstation combination.
I tried to create a new Opendirectory password (password ID has changed in WM), with no success.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Darius

You say you can log in the web browser right? You can find your username in the following url: https://play.spotify.com/user

I do not have this problem except when I am trying to save an article or photo when in firefox.

I've done the Enable Additional Features and I was still having the same issue. Let me see if I can explain what's going on a little better.
When I click on the checkboxes in the form the images will appear, but once I save it and reopen it the checkboxes are checked but no images are being displayed.
I'm using LiveCycle to create the form and putting the following JavaScripting on the checkbox as a change event.
    if(AddImage.rawValue == 0)
    Info.presence = "hidden";
    else
    Info.presence = "visible";

  • Can't log-in with my blackberry id in my phone

    Good Day!
I would just like to ask a question with regard to signing up my bb I.d..
whenever i open bb app world or upgrade my applications using my phone Ialways get "an error has occured please try again later" after placing my BB id and pressing the login tab. I just git the phone last june its a BB 8520.

Did you try to re-create the ID account?
If the Blackberry system blocks you from re-creating the ID account, call their tech support and ask if it is possible to re-create the ID account.
Did you originaly (before the phone went missing) activate Blackberry Protect on the phone?
If the Z10 phone is passworded with a password that cannot be guessed there is no worry if it was lost in the locked condition, or the finder did not access it for more than 30 minutes maximum (or whatever you set the time out to). If the phone has a password, Blackberry Protect cannot be disabled without the password, if by chance the person who has possession of the phone tried to dissable it (if he is knowledgable enough to do so).
If the phone is a Z10, the longest it can go without the password being re-entered is 30 minutes unless it is being accessed often. I tell the people I work with and my friends it is very important to use a strong password for their phone. I use an 8 character name with some numbers in it.
If the Blackberry password is attempted to the number of attempts set (default is 10X), the phone will automatically become completely wiped or better said, "bricked".  There is a process to get it back by someone who would know how, but all the original user data would be gone. With Blackberry, if the password is lost or unknown, there is no possible way to bypass it (no backdoor).
If your phone has been properly passworded, and it was locked there should be no worry.
I would would think you called your carrier, and had the phone dissabled. This way the SIM card would be useless. Since at least the account has been wiped the finder of the phone will have some limitations even if he had the phone in the unlocked condition. The worry would be the personal data stored.

  • Connected to Domain but can't log in using Actived Directory Credentials

Hey everyone.  I've been working on this issue for two weeks now, and I don't know what else to try.  I'm connected to my domain but cannot get my Macbooks to log in using Active Directory credenitals both through our wireless network, and hard wired with an ethernet cable.  The weird part about it is that it is not uniform all across our network.  This only happens to certain Macbooks and as of right now there doesn't seem to be a pattern.  I can say that it has happened to all new Macbook Pros that we have ordered lately though.
We use Jamf to manage our Macs on our network, and ever since upgrading to a new version (9.01 and now 9.1) we have had this issue.  However I can't connect after manually adding the domain either, so for now it makes me think it is not a Jamf issue.  Has anyone dealt with this issue before, that might know of a fix?  Thanks!

    Hi Burnettb1,
I have come across a similar issue as yours.  I have included the instructions that I use to bind the Mac at my institution.  In regards to wifi, I have not tried binding the Mac over wifi. Should you need to log in to a Mac with domain user credentials I would suggest to bind the Mac over ethernet.  Once you get to the:
*Click on triangle to the left of Show Advanced Options to expand"
portion of the instructions click on the Mappings tab and select the checkbox for creating a mobile account at login.  This will create a domain user profile on the machine that you can log into when not connected to the domain.
    Hope this helps.
    BIND iMac:
Login into iMac using administrative credentials
              Open System Preferences
                        *Goto Users & Groups
*Click on lock in lower left-hand corner
*Use same password used to log into iMac
                        *Click on Login Options
*Click on ‘Join...’ button right of "Network Account Server: "
*Click on ‘Open Directory Utility…’ button
*Click on lock in lower left-hand corner
*use same password used to log into iMac and click on Modify Configuration
                        *Double-click on Active Directory
      Active Directory Domain = domain
Computer ID = name of Mac
*Click on triangle to the left of Show Advanced Options to expand
                                  *Click on Administrative tab
                                  *Check  Prefer this domain server
Type  domainserver_ipaddr -or- servername.domain in this field
                                  *Click on ‘Bind…’ button
*When prompted for network administrator login
                                            username = [domain admin user]
                                            pwd = [domain user password]
*Click OK (Note: search path will be updating. Until completed the ‘OK’
    button will be greyed out
      *Click OK
*Click lock to lock and close window
*Click lock to lock and close window
    BIND CHECK:
*Search AD for added mac host - it should be there.
              Open Terminal app by either:
                        1)
                                  *Press command+spacebar
                                  *Type Terminal and select app
                        2)
                                  *Click on desktop
                                  *Press shift+command+A
*Goto Utilities folder located within Application folder (which you should
      be in) and open Terminal
*Once Terminal is opened type in id [domain username] and press return key.  The output should be
    some some network account information
*Close app by pressing command+Q and any other opened windows
              *Restart iMac
              *Log in

  • Logging in to Blackberry Protect from a BB

Why can I not log in to Blackberry Protect on the web from a BB smartphone?  I have two BBs and if one is lost, it would be very handy to be able to trace/lock/wipe it from the other (or any other BB for that matter) using BB Protect.

    Hi pawp
The BlackBerry® Protect™ website is designed to be accessed from a computer's web browser and not from the BlackBerry® smartphone itself.
    Thanks

  • Trying to log in using sqlplus /nolog and getting SP2-0640

Hello, I searched for this problem but not having much luck. I have Oracle 9iR2 running on Solaris 9 workstation. I can log on giving sys/passwd as sysdba and log on using any other user accounts. What I can't do is get into sqlplus using /nolog. I am setting up a dataguard physical clone. The clone is another 9iR2 workstation and i just installed the RDBMS software without creating a database. I can go into this database with sqlplus /nolog. I cannot do this on my intended primary database. I remember being able to get into the database when i first set it up using sqlplus /nolog but have since changed the unix account password and i believe this caused it but when i change the password back to the same one when I created the database, it still does not work. The error I get is SP2-0640: Not connected. Is there a log I can look up that will give me more information? thanks,
    Jim

Normally this errors occurs, if you have in glogin.sql (located in $ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/admin) or login.sql statements, which require a working connection.

  • FAQ: If I log in using my Facebook ID, does GroupPix post anything without my knowledge?

FAQ: If I log in using my Facebook ID, does GroupPix post anything without my knowledge?
    Answer:
No. GroupPix uses your Facebook ID to make an account that works with GroupPix. However, it does not post any activity updates unless you specifically share to Facebook.

kglad They are not any of my problems, I successfully log in, there is no error showing anywhere, but instead of giving me the full access to creative cloud, as I paid for, they just show me as a free user.
I think this is not a technical issue, but a payment one, but I cannot get a satisfying answer from Adobe.

  • Yahoo Email HACKED via having logged in from my Blackberry

My Yahoo Email account becomes hacked and password compromised anytime that I use my Blackberry to log into my Yahoo Email by going to the Blackberry web browser, then my.yahoo.com, and then logging in.
After the hacking I will use a computer to go to Yahoo Email and change the password.  The hacking will then stop.  Then if I use my Blackberry to login to Yahoo Email via the Blackberry web browser then the account becomes hacked again within minutes.   I have isolated the hacking to the Blackberry as I only use my personal computer and the Blackberry to login.  I will go weeks without a hacking incident but once I use my Blackberry to login to Yahoo Email the account shows logins from Canada within 5-30 minutes and then within 12 hours the spam emails start getting sent from my account.
I can view the locations of logins to my Yahoo Email and they are typically from Canada when the hacking occurs.  After this hacker has gained access to my account then they start sending spam from my email to all of my contacts for a link to buy some sort of berry supplement.
How is this hacking happening through my Blackberry?  Is there a virus on the device?

Yours would be THE first with a virus... so let's knock that out.
What's happing is there is a plethora of spammers and "bot" spammers out there which do nothing but find active Yahoo email accounts and "fake" the email "sent" from ID from those "bot" spam machines. They don't know your password. It just sees an active email account, and makes it appear your account is sending those emails.
They don't have to have your account password. No hacking. Just simple tom-foolery.
