"CANNOT LOG INTO ACCOUNT AT THIS TIME?"

Hey,
My computer won't allow me to log into my account. Each time it type my password in a pop up window comes up and says "You cannot log into "bkaster" at this time. This started to happen after my battery was knocked out accidentally while the computer was on. When I turned it back on this message came up and it has been coming up ever since. I am a college student and next week is finals week and all my lecture notes are on this computer. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi bkaster and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
This just might not be a battery related issue. Since you have a PBookG4 running Leopard, which takes up a huge amount of hard drive space, make sure you have a minimum of 15% free space on the drive. I'm assuming your PBookG4 drive is 40GB? 60GB?
After you try Clea Rees advice, open a Finder window. The amount of free space is displayed at the bottom. You can also view this information by using Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities). Open DU, select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, then look down toward the bottom and you will see:
Capacity and Availability.
It's just a good thing to keep in mind when trouble shooting.

• Cannot log into account in messages

I have logged into my normal Apple account in order to post this question, but in Messages I get an error about the server having an error in processing the registration, and that I should try later.
I live in NYC, but am in England this week. That may be relavent. As I can't log into the main account, my individual AIM account shows has me having no buddies at all, and my other accounts show all buddies as being offline. But in fact they may be offline, it's only 6:17am on Christmas Day in the US!
Still, it would be nice if I could get my buddy list back for AIM. Any ideas?

Thank you both for the pointer. There was a little more to fix than just the time, but if I had tried that in the first place it probably would have worked. I'll describe what I did, for anyone else who gets the same situation:
My time was set correctly, but not using the automatic setting, because I only saw the US time server available. When I turned on auto setting I was set back to New York time.
I tried to set the time zone, but got a message about needing to turn on location services, so I did that. Once I had turned on that, and the auto time setting, the time became correct again, and it also set the time zone (and even the part of Nottingham that I'm in).
Messages still didn't work, so I restarted. Still I apparenetly had no buddies.
However, amongst my other attempts to fix things I had been trying @mac.com, @me.com, and @icloud.com. All three would let me log in, but none gave me buddies (this was before the time fix). Having got the time right it still failed to work, but that turned out to be because I was still set to @icloud.com. Changing it back to the normal mac.com fixed everything.
Thanks again for the telp.

• Cannot log into account, response says store is temporarily unavailable

iTunes support set me several tasks, from basic internet connection on to more complex matters, but after just two exchanges referred me on to Applecare, just as the weekend arrived. I have Applecare but this is too frustrating, as I have wasted 3 days on basic responses which took no account of the details I included in my initial email.
So the problem is this, every time I use my Macbook Air to log into the iTunes store, I get the temporarily unavailable response. I am loogged on fine via iPhone and iPad on the same connection, and the support pages recognise my user name and password. So how do I get back to making urchases on my Macbook?

• Safari cannot log into ANYTHING including this website!

I am unable to log into any websites with Safari anymore, no matter what I do.. I cleared cache, preferences, deleted program and re-downloaded it.. but Safari on my Mac will not log into ANY websites at all.. not even this Apple discussion website.
Does anybody have a similar problem or a solution?
I am using Firefox instead to log into websites.

Hi Chazzzzy!
Be sure you have a current backup.
Your computer specs state that you have 10.4.10 installed.
Is that correct?
If so, using Firefox, download the Intel 10.4.11 Combo Update.
Then load Safari.
From the Safari contextual menu, select Empty Cache
From the Safari contextual menu, select Reset Safari.
Check all options and click Reset.
When that has completed, quit Safari.
Navigate to HD > Users > Your Account > Library > Preferences:
In that folder, locate and move to the Trash, this file com.apple.Safari.plist, and if present, com.apple.Safari.plist.saved.
Navigate to HD > Users > Your Account > Library > Safari.
In that folder, move to the Trash all items except Bookmarks.plist.
Navigate to HD > Users > Your Account > Library > Caches > Safari.
In that folder, move to the Trash, any items that appear.
Empty the Trash.
Run Repair Permissions.
Install the previously downloaded Intel 10.4.11 Combo Update.
Restart the MBP.
Again run Repair Permissions.
Try Safari.
TO REPAIR PERMISSIONS ON THE STARTUP DISK
1.Open Disk Utility, located in Applications/Utilities, and select the startup disk in the left column.
2.Click First Aid.
3.Click Verify Disk Permissions to test permissions or Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions. (I never "Verify". Just run "Repair".)
Rerun RP, until there are no error messages reported.
When "Repair Permissions" is complete. Quit "Disk Utility".

• HT204053 I cannot log into iCloud using my Apple username and password. I keep getting an error message that states "CANNOT SIGN UP - The Apple ID is valid but is not an iCloud account." How do I fix this?

I cannot log into iCloud using my Apple username and password. I keep getting an error message that states "CANNOT SIGN UP - The Apple ID is valid but is not an iCloud account." How do I fix this?

You are getting this message because you are attempting to create an iCloud account on a PC. You can only create iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.2) or higher. After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account on your PC.

• I have troubles enabling the cookies, even though I never disabled them, thus I cannot log into my GMAIL account for over two weeks now. What should I do?

I cannot log into my gmail or facebook account, because it says: cookies are disabled, enable cookies to continue. I tried changing my settings in Firefox - Options - Settings - Privacy - Use custom settings. I did exactly what I was advised in the Firefox Help online, enabled everything, then clicked OK. Didnt work. Tried it again and I only found that the settings (custom settings - enabled everything) were not even saved. I am not able to save these custom settings any way, it never saves them no matter how many times I try and click ok, I come back to the setting to find that they are not there. So I tried clearing all the cookies and cache in history (also found this online in firefox support site), guess what? DIDNT WORK. I am starting to be a little bit pissed off as I cannot log into my gmail or facebook account for over two weeks now! Any time I need to check e-mails I have to use someones laptop.

If the cookies are enabled in Firefox and you still have problems then you may have security software that is blocking cookies.
Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

• All of a sudden I cannot log into my icloud account

All of a sudden I cannot log into my Icloud account. Not on my phone and not on a PC. I found a thread that said the first step was to try to sign in to the apple ID to make sure I had my credentials correct. I have done that, so I know I have the correct credentials. My phone has been connected continuously for some time now including this morning. But now I get a connection error. Both on my phone and on the PC.

Seems to be up and down at the moment. For the past hour or so I haven't been able to access via the web or from mail apps (phone, desktop, etc.). Some mail just came through on my phone but it now cannot connect again.
FWIW, system status is green across the board, but that's always laggy and inaccurate: https://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/

• Cannot log into my Amazon account on my iPad.

i cannot log into my Amazon account on iPad. when I try to enter my password, the reset password page comes up. I've logged out and back in, but the same thing happens. It happens on both my iPads, but not my laptop. I can log in on laptop.
can anyone help?

I have exactly the same problem since I installed ios 8.1. Wish I'd never done it as its made a complete mess of what was a working ipad3, now its unstable verging on unusable using Safari which was my prime reason for buying it.
A simple cure would be to give us the ability to roll back to a working operating system i.e. ios 6 until this utter piece of £*&p that is ios 8 has been fully tested and is fit to use.
However as a short time fix the Amazon app does work.

• HT2518 I cannot log into transferred migrated information account

I have migrated information from my PC to my new mac by use of the Windows Migration Assistant.
It created a new account for all my migrated information and I cannot log into it. It prompts me to change the password because it is expired and then prompts me to give my old password for the account before entering a new one. However, I have no idea what the "old" password would be. I have tried everything - including the old password from my account on my PC and my password from my account now on my mac and nothing works.
What am I doing wrong?
Note: I am completely new to the mac so please excuse me if this is something obvious.

I don't do Windoze, but understand that you need to log out, then you'll get a prompt to establish a pasword for the new account.

• 'Applications' message-'cant log in to this account at this time'

When I try to log in to my 'administrator' account on my laptop I get the message 'cannot log in to this account at this time', apparently from the 'applications' system. I can log in to a separate account on the same laptop. Why is this happening and how do I fix it!

I had little hope of that working... only if it could be one of those inexplicable things, indeed, it only fixes the account your in, but if it was mistanly crossed up...
The Login Passwords aren't even kept in Keychain, and the times I've seen Change Password not work, was I figure due to Directory corruption, and with File Vault involved, I've not seen any success at untangling it.
Hopefully some better help will come along.

• I cannot log into user account with old password after using migration assistant.

I used Migration Assistant to move only my Settings and Users from my Power PC (User name RLE 5) to my Mac Pro. Because of what I have read in these forums I did not migrate applications or and files/folders. I will do that manually. After migrating I tried logging in to my user account RLE 5 on my Mac Pro, but it is telling me I am using the wrong password. I used the same password I used on my Power PC, but with no luck. On my Mac Pro I went into System Preferences>Accounts>RLE 5 account and changed the password. I then rebooted and tried again. No luck.
Can somebody help me with this problem?
Thank you.

What you propose would not solve the problem I am having. I must not have been clear about it. So I will elaborate.
I have a Power PC with 10.5.8. The admin user account name is RLE 5. I need a password to log into my root user account on my Power PC.
Then I bought a used Mac Pro with a clean install of 10.7.5 and no password set up yet for my admin user account. The admin user account name is Mac Pro. When I turn on the computer it opens to my admin user account where I have access to everything.
I used Migrations Assistant to move my Settings and Users from my Power PC to my Mac Pro. That seemed to to successfully.
So I now have four users on my Mac Pro: RLE 5 (the admin user from my Power PC with the password), Mac Pro (my admin user which does not require a password), and two guest user accounts.
I turn on my Mac Pro and it opens to my Mac Pro admin user account. I don't need to sign in. No problem.
I log out of Mac Pro. On my screen are the four user accounts. I click on RLE 5 (which was my admin user account on my Power PC that I migrated over to my Mac Pro) to log into that account and it asks me for a password. I type in the password I used for my Power PC. It keeps telling me it is the incorrect password.
I cannot log into my user account RLE 5 on the Mac Pro. I am being told I have the incorrect password. I've gone to System Preferences>Accounts and changed the password. It doesn't make a difference.
Also I cannot log into the Guest User account that migrated from the Power PC to the Mac Pro for the same reason. I have also tried to change the password for that Guest User account also but with no luck.
Another interesting thing has happened. I decided to give my Mac Pro admin user account a password by going to System Preferences>Accounts. But when I do a test to sign into my admin user account Mac Pro it tells me it is the wrong password. Luckily I can reboot the computer and it opens to my Mac Pro user without asking for a password. But if I log out of Mac Pro and try to then sign back in with the password it tells me it is the incorrect password.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

• Update 10.5.6 Cannot log into POP email account

After the upgrade to 10.5.6 I cannot log into my email account anymore. I get a message saying that the mail server does not recognize user or password. My wife has an account with the same provider and it works, however, when she tried to create a test account with the same information she gets the same behavior. Additionally I cannot see any of the email previously stored locally, the folders are there but they are empty. Any help would be appreciated
Steven
PS. We have tried deleting the plist in Preferences and a few other things suggested in this discussion thread already, nothing works.

This issue may be closed.
The correct account information was entered, but the preferences file (com.apple.mail.plist) was freshly saved upon closing Mail, ie., the original, corrupt Mail preferences file was retained, so Mail would not connect to the account.
When I closed Mail and deleted the preference file (com.apple.mail.plist) Mail was then able to connect to my account and download. I was also able to Import email from a previous version of OS X and this mail was imported to an "Import" folder.
