Cannot Login... Help !

Hi,
I am an experimented Mac user, but quite new with Snow Leopard Server.
I've just purchased the brand new MacMini Server.
I have configured my server with the name server.local and installed OpenDirectory as Master.
I wanted to try the network login, so I created a Test1 account in Open Directory. Then from my iMac I joined my server.local through System Preferences/Accounts/Options/... then I log off and try to use the newly created account test1.... I asked the system to change the password from first loggin... which works, but then I receive a message saying that I cannot log in for the moment... I tried everything but I just can't use the network account.
Any hints?
Cheers.

Hello pinouzi, and welcome to the AppleBoards,
This newsgroup is dedicated specifically to Xserve hardware and your question appears to be about OS X Server software running on a Mac Mini. A more appropriate place for your question is probably a board like this one: http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1353 or one of the other general OS X Server boards: http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=96 .
That being said there are several things that need to happen when you set-up a user in WGM for them to be able to login as a network user. I would double-check that they actually have a path to a network home and that home was successfully created. If this didn't happen then they will have no "home folder" to mount and use and this could cause what you are describing.
Good luck,
=Tod

  • Cannot login to airport extreme router settings

    Hi
I've recently moved from an iiNet ADSL2+ service to NBN, in Australia. Everything has worked perfectly fine, and continues to, with relation to internet connectivity.
I've just signed up for an iiNet VOIP NetPhone service, and purchased a Gigaset C610 VOIP phone. In trying to connect with my current hardware, I'm running into constant difficulties. The first step is meant to be to login to my modem/router with my new iiNet NetPhone details. However, when I type my IP into Safari, I constantly get error messages saying that it cannot connect to the server.
I'm using an Airport Extreme Base Station, connected via ethernet to one of my Cat6 internet points. This then connects to my NBN box, located in my garage.
    I've tried:
various IP address (10.0.1.1, 192.168.1.1 etc.)
connecting my MacBook via wifi and hardwiring
resetting and later restoring my Airport
using different computers (Mac and PC) to login
The internet still works fine, through ethernet and wifi - I just cannot login to my router.
I've phoned my ISP for support and they've said I need to go through Apple as it sounds like something is wrong with my router.
    Any help?
    Cheers,
    Evan

  • Cannot login into Here Maps on my Surface 2, but c...

    OK,
    here's the thing.
With the latest updates for the HERE apps, I created a HERE account. This went without problems, and on my phone all HERE/travel related apps can login and work without a problem.
I can sync and such, no issues there. Never used the Nokia account for that anyway, so no losses here ;-)
I reinstalled HERE Maps (problem with updating maps gave me a blanc screen after restarting the app) on my Surface 2, and added the maps I want again.
The app itself works, but I cannot login from within the HERE Maps app on my Surface 2. Eveytime I get the 'cannot login...' error.
The login/passwork combo does work, as I can see on my WP8.1 Lumia phone. So I'm a bit baffled why it doesn't work on my tablet. And no.... logging in with a Facebook account doesn't fly. The MS account might, but that isn't an option here.
    thanks for any thoughts,
    rob

  • Cannot login to new imac

I have just received new imac. Migrated from time capsule to new imac. All seemed okay but now cannot login to any previous accounts. The password hints tell me that i am using the correct password, but no success. Have restarted computer a couple of times (when in doubt....), but still cannot get past login page. The imac did not come with a cd. Any suggestions?

I think they're open until Sundays but I'm not positive. Also if you have an Apple Store in your area then drop by and speak to a Genius, they'll help you out!

  • Cannot login into network accounts when there is no network connectivity

    Hey guys
quick question here if anyone can help.
What has been done: backuped user's home folder, binded the mac to AD, logged in as the user's AD name, copied everything from the backup into the new user's home folder, users can work flawlessly.
What is wrong is when they leave the office, after a few hours they cannot login anymore to their AD username. Is there something i missed?
The network accounts do not appear in system preferences.
    Thanks

On your client machine login screen, type in ">console" (without quotes) in the username field and hit enter. Try and login with your network account username and password. What error messages do you get in console?

  • Cannot login, and lots of more of these problems

I used to use the HP eprintcenter. This used to work properly.
Then it changed into HPconnect. The worst site I ever seen. Let me sum up:
    1) I cannot login... Initially I used Chrome as a browser, but his does not work, so HP does not know there are other browsers than stupid IE.
    2) then I used IE, There I select login and give my credentials. There it says I am already HP connected. Press the button below. "Go to HP connected". But when I do so, it is returning to the previous web page. I am simply turning circles.
    3) Then I pressed HELP, and was directed to a forum. Guess what? it asks me to create a new account. Don't I have enough accounts already??? Why can't I use my HPeprint account??? But ok, once more.... I tried at least 15 different user names, but without success... turning circles again.
    4) then I arrived on this forum. There is a special section on "how to use this forum". Dear HP, if you need to explain how it works, then it sucks. Make things easy, so you don't need to explain why you made it complex.
Can someone give me my old HPeprintCenter back or tell me how you can simply, with a single username and password and with whatever browser I like I can LOGIN to this stuff to see if it is really worth going through this misery???

    Hi 1f3,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues when you migrated from HP's ePrintCenter to HP Connected.
HP connected as been rolled out to the USA and the UK, all other countries/regions at this time are still using HP ePrintCenter.  As for not being able to sign into ePrintCenter I have included a link to one of my posts here on the forum for those customers that seem to be stuck in a loop when trying to log in.
The easiest way to get your printer onto your new HP Connected account is to reset the web services on the front panel of your printer. I am unable to link you to the instructions on this as you didn't indicated which model/product of HP printer you have. After resetting the web services you will get a new claim code to add your printer to your HP Connected account.  Please be advised, if you reset the web services, you will lose your current ePrint email address, and you will need to create a new email address for the printer.
If you still need to have an account deleted that you are unable to log into, please feel free to contact HP Cloud Services at 1-855-785-2777.  If you live outside the USA/Canada region, please click the link below to get the Technical Support number for your region.

  • 1st Gen iPod Touch cannot login to iTunes or App Store

My relative's 1st Gen iPod Touch (fully updated) cannot login to iTunes or App Store. Specifically, when the prompt on the iPod touch for their Apple ID, they can type in their ID and password fine, but tapping on "cancel" or "OK" does nothing. The iPod touch is effectively frozen, the only option being to hit the Home button to get out.
This happens when trying to purchase an item in iTunes, the App Store, and when accessing the Apple ID account through Settings.app on the iPod touch.
An Apple Store genius recommended restoring, but this did not help. Other internet features (safari, mail, facebook, etc.) work fine. They are still able to download apps through iTunes and then sync them over. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    EconBass

    Thanks lllaass,
We just tried to do a fresh restore to factory settings. Unfortunately, the exactly same problem persists.
A little more information, after the username and password are entered, OK can be pressed, but the prompt doesn't go away, and there is a persistent "loading..." sign in the background. This is where the iPod hangs. Here's a picture of what it looks like.
    Thanks,
    EconBass

I tried to do the following:
    systemctl stop gdm
    startx
with the following in my .xinirc:
    exec gnome-session
Unforunately, I get the same screen, albeit with a slightly different error message:

  • Clients running OS 10.4.6 on older iMac (slot loading) cannot login

Clients running OS 10.4.6 on older iMac (slot loading) cannot login. I get:
“Logging into the account failed because an error occurred. The home folder for the user account is located on an AFP or SMB server. Contact your system administrator for help."
I have eMacs and iBooks on this network running 10.4.6 and they have no problem. Also the iMacs running 10.3.9 have no problem. Since it’s machine and OS specific I’m wondering if it’s an incompatibility problem. The iMacs have the latest firmware on them. The server is a G5 running 10.4.6 server, DNS and DHCP are setup correctly and the share points are setup correctly.

Try resetting the PMU/SMU and PRAM/NVRAM. You'd need to identify the mode of resetting depending on the model of your G5 iMac. The Apple support sites that would help you for this are –

  • Mac OS X Server : cannot login

    I have a Mac OS X server 10.9.5.
Since a recent update of the Server App, I have the following problems :
    - cannot login via imap and smtp to my server
    - cannot "connect as" my self in Finder any more to see my home directory on the server from an Imac Server running also OS X 10.9.5
my server is accessed for the email as mail.agilebuild.com and when I connect from the IMac it is known as "agilebuild.local".
I think that I might have called the server ilantoutseul.agilebuild.com back when I set up Open Directory.
I see the following messages in /var/log/system.log
    Any help will be appreciated.

Verify that both the client and the server have the same time, otherwise kerberos will not work.
Then open the terminal.app on your server and show us the output of:
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
It will not change anything just give a reply about the hostname of your server.
That will give us more info on how to fix your problem.
    Goodluck

  • After 9i (9.2.0.1)Install on Windows 2003 cannot login as sys/sysdba/system

    Hello all,
    I need to someone's help.
I just installed Oracle After 9i (9.2.0.1)Install on Windows 2003.
I can only login using scott/tiger.
    cannot login as sys/sysdba/system
I used Oracle dtabase Configuration Assistant. At the last step it asked me if I want to change sys and system passwords, I did. However, I cannot verify if system took those. The default combinations system/manager sys/change_on_install are not working.
As well as my new passwords.
    How can I resolve it?
    Thank you in advance,
    Sonya

Recall what you used and you should be able to login .
    OR
On windows create new password for sys user. This should work for you since you are on windows OS
back up the file in you ORACLE_HOME/database/PWD<SID>.ora
    Create a new one using
    orapwd file=...database/PWD<sid>.ora password=<new password> entries=5
    stop the oracleService<SID>
    start the oracleService<SID>
    sqlplus /nolog
    connect sys as sysdba
    Enter password: <new password>
You should be able to login with this new password created

  • Solaris 10 Cannot login

    Hello World:
Those of you who are from the "old school" will get the salutation! In any case, I am have a problem with my Solaris 10 system. Recently, I ran patchadd for those patches that were downloaded by the Sun patch manager into /var/sadm/spool. After doing this, I rebooted my system and now I am receiving the following error message and cannot login except in single user mode:
ld.so.1: Login: fatal relocation error: File /usr/lib/passwdutil.so.1: symbol_nsl_fgetspent_r: Referenced symbol not found.
Also, when I login with single user mode and run the passwd command, I get the same error message.
I would greatly appreciate any help as I am under a deadline to get this system back up.
    Respectfully,
    Mark K.

    Hi
I've run into this problem too - and found it pretty frustrating. But I think I have figured out the circumstances in which it happened (at least for me) and a workaround other than reinstalling S10 11/06.
I got the problem when applying a recent S10 SPARC patchcluster and found that login no longer worked and was crashing out with the error
ld.so.1: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/lib/passwdutil.so.1: symbol __nsl_fgetspent_r: referenced symbol not found
I thought I had applied the patchcluster properly, rebooting when required and
continuing the patchcluster until it was all applied. The patchcluster I used was the one dated Sep/19/07. As others have reported you can boot Ok to single user but going multiuser or running login as single user gets the problem.
So I took a look at the shared lib login was complaining about getting the relocation error for.
ldd /usr/lib/passwdutil.so.1 will print out a list of the libs that passwdutil.so.1 uses. I checked through each of these looking for a text definition of the __nsl_fgetspent_r symbol via
for each lib used by passwdutil.so.1
    nm lib | grep __nsl_fgetspent_r
    done
and as expected could not find a global definition of the symbol.
So I then looked on another system without the Sep/19/07 patchcluster installed and found that __nsl_fgetspent_r is defined in /lib/libnsl.so.1
    # nm /lib/libnsl.so.1 | grep __nsl_fgetspent_r
    [4968] | 94276| 336|FUNC |GLOB |0 |10 |__nsl_fgetspent_r
But in my check on the problem system, the global def of the symbol was not in /lib/libnsl.so.1. Now our problem system was built initially from a jumpstart which automatically adds a S10 patchcluster (the May/24/07 one).
Looking through the patches in the May/24/07 cluster for those that replaced /lib/libnsl.so.1 I found patch 120473 (rev 08). This patch relaces /lib/libnsl.so.1 and its version of libnsl.so.1 includes the __nsl_fgetspent_r symbol
    # nm ./10_Recommended/120473-08/SUNWcslr/reloc/lib/libnsl.so.1 | grep __nsl_fgetspent_r
    [4968] | 94276| 336|FUNC |GLOB |0 |10 |__nsl_fgetspent_r
This patch is the 3rd last in the patch order file, so goes on after kernel patch 118833-36. This is important because when I applied the Sep/19/07 patchcluster and ran into the problem, this patchcluster reinstalled 118833-36 but not 120473. (I guess a reinstall of 118833-36 is the default? even if you already have 118833-36).
And 118833-36 includes /lib/libnsl.so.1. This version of libnsl.so.1 does not have a symbol def for __nsl_fgetspent_r. The Sep/19/07 patchcluster does not include patch 120473 so if you apply the patchcluster you end up with a libnsl.so.1 without the needed symbol. Patch 120473 is not included because sometime between May/24/07 and Sep/19/07 patch 120473 was made obsolete, so therefore no longer included into the patchcluster.
My workaround was to reinstall the latest (last) rev of this obsolete patch, 120472-12 to get a version of /lib/libnsl.so.1 with the symbol. This is not the best option because you aren't supposed to install obsolete patches, but the system seems ok so far (it is not a production system).
What looks like a better option rather than reinstalling an obsolete patch is to install the patch that is documented as superceding it; this is the latest kernel patch, 120011-14, which includes /lib/libnsl.so.1 with the __nsl_fgetspent_r symbol. However this patch is currently broken because it itself requires an obsolete patch, so cannot be installed. Sun should hopefully fix this soon.

  • Users created in ABAP tool cannot login to Portal

    Hello,
I have created a user in abap and assigned them the role SAP_J2EE_ADMIN but cannot login into Portal (Message: User authentication failed) with that user. If I login to portal as J2EE_ADMIN and search for that user I get "No element found." Is there something that needs to be done to get users into Portal? Does authentication not occur against the abap system? Also is the J2EE_ADMIN user only valid within portal and not the abap backend?
    I am using EP7.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Kelly,
I changed it under System Administration>>System Configuration>>UME Configuration>>ABAP System tab. If you read ealier in this thread however, I could not restart the j2ee server after that....so change it at your own risk!
If you do change it and cannot restart,  go into the config tool and navigate to Global server configuration >> services >> com.sap.security.core.ume.service and find the ume.r3.connection.master.client key. Change that back to it's original value. I was able to restart after that.
    Hope that helps.
