Cannot login to Cisco Jabber 10.5.1 over Mobile and Remote Access

Hi,
We have deployed sucessfully VCS Expressway-C and VCS Expressway-E with only 1 zone which is "Unified Communication Traversal" and is for Mobile and Remote Access only. VCS-C and VCS-E are communicating and in statuses everything is active and working. Also VCS-C can communicate with CUCM and CUP (both version 10.5).
Problem is when I deploy Cisco Jabber 10.5.1 on computer outside of LAN and without VPN it start communicating with VCS-E, ask me for accepting certificate (we have certificate only intenally generated on Windows CA) and after that it is trying to connect and after few seconds it will tell me that it can't communicate with server.
Did any of you had same problem or can you advice how to troubleshoot? In Jabber logs there is only something like "Cannot authenticate" error message, but when I startup VPN I can authenticate without any problems.
Thanks

On Expressway-C are your HTTP Allow Lists setup properly?  By default, and auto discovered CUCM and IMP should be listed via IP and Hostname, but if not, you'll need to insert manually.
Also, you can look at the config file your Expressway-E would be handing out to Jabber via this method.
From the internet, browse to:
https://vcse.yourdomain.com:8443/Y29sbGFiLmNvbQ/get_edge_config?service_name=_cisco-uds&service_name=_cuplogin
Where:
vcse is your Expressway-E hostname (or CNAME/A record)
yourdomain.com is your own domain
The first directory is your Base64 encoded domain name, remove and trailing equal signs (=)
The XML returned is basically the DNS SRV record information available as if internal for _cisco-uds and _cuplogin
TFTP DNS SRV is optional if you configured TFTP in IMP for your Legacy Clients.

  • Login failure - Cisco Jabber 9.2.4 for windows

I have built up CUCM 8.6(2a), CUPS 8.6(5), and integrated them according to the cisco official docs.
Now, I finished the configuration according to the Jabber install guide & Server Setup Guide. However, the first login experience indicates that Jabber is a quite tricky software to deal with.
When I run Cisco Jabber for Windows 9.2.4 for the first time, it prompt me as below,
Server Type: Cisco Webex / Cisco Unified Presence
Login Server: Server address / Domain
Q1: What is going on there? Whe Webex get involved here? Why CUCM is not listed as a Server Type? How should I input here for a successful login (My CUCM IP: 192.168.169.11, CUPS IP: 192.168.169.12, DNS is not used here, let alone Domain)? Those parameters and steps are never mentioned in the End user Guide.  The Jabber is not behaving as expected at all !!
Q2: As far as I know, Jabber can work in only 2 modes, Full UC Mode, Phone-Mode, only difference between them is media terminates at PC or desktop phone. Am I right? how can I determine which mode I am currently in?
Q3, In Connectin Setting Diagram, I select Cisco Unified Presence as server type, and input CUPS IP for Server Address & Domain, then, I use end user ID and password configured on CUCM to login, but end up with "cannot communicate with the server". Is that a bug ?
    Thanks in advance.

A1: Because it can use either (webex or CUPS), there are two deployment modes, all is on the documentation if you haven't gone thru it.
You type in what it's asking, nothing more. Choose one, and then use the CUPS hostname, DNS is basically mandatory, the PC needs name resolution for all you have configured (VM/CUCM/etc)
A2: No, it can be IM&P, full UC and phone mode. No, Full UC and phone mode use the PC for media termination, deskphone control uses the phone for media. Did you change the parameters during install for phone mode??? If not, it's not in phone mode.
A3: No, that can be many things, DNS, connectivity, credentials, etc
You mention DNS is not used, so, most likely that's the problem.
I'd strongly recommend you to review the whole deployment guide for Jabber for Windows.

  • I changed my apple id from the one I used to originally sign up to iCloud and now cannot login to iCloud - do I need to change it back to access iCloud?

I changed my apple id from the one I used to originally sign up to iCloud and now cannot login to iCloud - do I need to change it back to the original apple id in order to access iCloud?

Gosh, this is full of great information and I need something a little bit deeper - and because I'm not a techy - can I explain...Apple ID changed a year ago from a work email to a personal email.  No longer have access to original email..... New email and Apple ID worked flawlessly until today - every 3 seconds Sign in to iCloud pops up.. with the old work email.  I enter the password - which is the same... and it says invalid.
I tried to delete the icloud, but you need the password and it says "find my phone" is on... i turn it off,  and it's the old email... and the password again doesn't work, of course.
I am left stratching my head... I sync my phone and my correct, up to date email is in the Apple ID sections...
What am I doing wrong.. talk slow to me please, lol.

  • Cisco Jabber for Windows Client SDK

Is there an SDK for Cisco Jabber for Windows client? I could only find the Web SDK. Are there no other SDKs that would let me control features of the Jabber Windows Client?

And in order to avoid TAPI limitation, they say they have started using Jabber which controls all phone functionalities through an Application User connected to the Call Manager.
Assuming they are referring to the normal Jabber for Windows/Mac/iOS/Android applications then this is wrong. Jabber - the client, not the IM&P servers which are part of the CUCM cluster (if you're familiar with Lync consider CUCM+IM&P servers a Front End Pool) - do not use an Application User at all. When a user starts Jabber, assuming SAML SSO is off, they supply an email address. This is used to find the servers via DNS SRV records, or the Mobile and Remote Access Expressway (roughly analogous to a Lync Edge pool) to tunnel through the firewall. After the email address they are prompted for their End User username and password. This is then used to access several APIs on the server, namely the User Data Service to discover what the user has. This would include what the user has configured/available to them. After this is done the Jabber client does one of three things with respect to phone functionality:
If the user has no phone devices provisioned for them - physical or software - it becomes an IM&P client only.
If the user has a software phone phone provisioned, it registers as that using SIP. In this way Jabber is the actual phone. This is called a CSF device for Jabber Windows/OS X.
If the user has a desk phone assigned to their End User account AND administrative policy is to default to desk phone control, it registers to CTI Manager on the CUCM server to control the user's physical phone.
A user can toggle between option two and three, if appropriately provisioned, but cannot have both simultaneously. In other words, Jabber is either controlling a physical phone over CTI or is a phone itself using SIP. The difference is where the audio/video media is sent from/to.
All of this happens using that human's End User credentials.
Now, if you wanted to have a server control the user's phone - either a physical one or Jabber - you would use the TSP as an interface to CTI Manager on the CUCM server and receive real-time events (e.g. the user went off-hook, the phone is ringing with this caller ID, etc.) and issue commands to that phone (e.g. make a call to X). This is done using an Application User account because the server would need to do this for multiple users simultaneously. If you also use the Super Provider concept, the CUCM administrator doesn't have to take the extra step of associating every phone to your Application User manually. Instead, you can simply issue CTI subscriptions to see any/all device activity you want.
This is all assuming you wanted to do the integration server-side to avoid having to update the Cisco TSP application on every user PC (which also limits your WPF application to machines capable of running the TSP) every time the CUCM administrator patches the servers. If you don't care about that, then you can do this all client-side on the user's PC, and have them supply their End User credentials.
Of course, you could also reconsider the Jabber SDK and just embed the make/receive call functionality directly into your application instead.

    Hi Marcelo,
Yes, there are some requirements for certificates in Expressway.
    Expressway Core (Exp-C)
    - Can be signed by either External or Internal CA
    - Better to use a cluster name even if you start with 1 peer in Exp-C cluster. In the future, if more peers are added, changes would be minimal.
    - Better to use FQDN of cluster as CN of certificate, this way the traversal zone configuration on Expressway-E won't require any change even if new peers are added to Exp-C cluster.
    - If CUCM is mixed mode, include security profile names (in FQDN format) as Subject Alternate Names
    - The Chat Node Aliases that are configured on the IM and Presence servers. They will be required only for Unified Communications XMPP federation deployments that intend to use both TLS and group chat. (Note that Unified Communications XMPP federation will be supported in a future Expressway release). The Expressway-C automatically includes the chat node aliases in the CSR, providing it has discovered a set of IM&P servers.
    - For TLS b/w CUCM, IM-P & Exp-C
+ If using self-signed certificates on CUCM, IM/P. Load Cisco Tomcat, cup, cup-xmpp certificates from IM-P on Exp-C. Load callmanager, Cisco Tomcat certificates from CUCM on Exp-C.
+ If using Internal CA signed certificates on CUCM, IM/P. Load Root CA certificates on Exp-C.
      + Load CA certificate under tomcat-trust, cup-trust, cup-xmpp-trust on IM-P.
+ Load CA certificate under tomcat-trust, callmanager-trust on CUCM.
    Expressway Edge (Exp-E)
    - Signed by External CA
    - Configured Unified Communications domain as Subject Alternate Name
    - If using a cluster, select FQDN of this peer as CN and FQDN of Cluster + this peer as Subject Alternate Name.
    - If XMPP federation is being deployed, enter the same Chat Node Aliases as entered in Exp-C.

  • Cisco Jabber for Windows in Extend and Connect mode and making outbound calls

    Hi guys,
I've set up Cisco Jabber for Windows to use Extend and Connect to control a remote PBX endpoint. I've configured the required CTI-RD device, remote destinations, associated the users to the line and added the devices to end-user controlled device. The extend and connect part is working flawlessly without any issues. I'm able to receive inbound calls on the remote PBX endpoint and control the call (hold, resume, transfer etc.) using the Jabber call window that pops up.
However, I'm unable to make any outbound calls via the Jabber client when in extend and Connect mode. Reading the Extend and Connect guide, I need to configure Dial Via Office (DVO) Reverse. So when the user initiates a Dial-Via-Office reverse call, CUCM calls and connect to the Extend and Connect device (CTI-RD). CUCM then calls and connects to the number the user dialled and finally connects the two call legs.
After attempting to configure DVO-R for Jabber for Windows in Extend and Connect mode following the CUCM feature services guide, i'm unable to get any outbound calls working. From RTMT, i am receiving the following Termination Cause Code: (27) Destination out of order. What i also notice is that there is no calling number for that trace either. I would've thought that the calling party would've been the Enterprise Feature Access (EFA) number.
Has anyone got this working or can provide some guidance?
    Thanks.

  • Cisco Jabber for iPad - custom URL?

The Cisco Jabber client for iOS is great, and we'd love to integrate it with one of our iPad applications. All iOS applications have an optional "custom URL" they can assign to themselves that enables them to be invoked by another application. They may also optionally include paramters (for example, a phone number). Does a custom URL exist for the jabber iOS client, and if so, is it possible to send it a parameter for a phone number so that it dials as soon as it starts up? Thanks.

I don't get presence either, and would like to know if there is an answer for it.
If I look up my user in the provisioning directory, it does show that my iPad is provisioned and active for my account.
I can't say anything toward the lisence count, it's hard to say with all the accounts we have active sometimes.
Our infrastructure is slightly different in that we are running TMS 13.2.1 and using TMS Agent Legacy.

  • Unable to select 'Use Phone for audio calls' on Cisco Jabber Client 9.6 for Windows

    Hi,
I have recently deployed Cisco Presence Server and integrated with Call Manager 9.1.2. I have successfully deplyed 6700 users on IM & Presence. Some of the users requested for Cisco Jabber with phone control.
I have added CFS client on the Call Manager and associated it with the same extension numbers from their desk phones. I am currently able to make audio and video calls for these specific users. I am currently using Cisco Jabber Client 9.6 for windows. I have users both daisy chained to their desk phones and who are not. Can you please confirm if it does make any difference.
    Problem Faced -
I am not able to use to option use phone for audio calls. The phone comes down with a cross sign on it. At the same time Cisco Jabber by default uses the client and it works as expected.
Can you please let me know if any of you guys have faced a similar issue.
Please let me know if you need any information regading the configuration used.
Looking forward for your valuable comments.
    Thank you.

  • Some Users cannot login via Lync 2013 windows client

    Hi,
I have a Lync 2013 FrontEnd server, DB server and Edge Server.
Since last noon we are facing a mysterious issue. Its as below.
( I have just entered into Lync administration)
User A and User B, both were able to login to lync till yesteday noon on their individual PC, any PC or mobile (windows, android, mac) with any version of Lync client, inside and outside the organization.
Last noon User A reported that he is facing an issue that whenever he logs in to lync 2013 client he is automatically logged off in 2 to 3 seconds. Then again logs in automatically and again loggs off in 2-3 seconds. and thats all is happening again and
again. The message he is is getting after he is logged off is "The connection to the server was lost
. Reconnecting. Current calls may continue, but with reduced functionality".
But at the same time he was able to login from other computer and his mobile device.  At the same time, User B is not facing any issue on his machine.
Then User A tried to login from the User B's computer and there also he faced same issue. Then i asked User B to login on computer of User A and what i see is User B is able to login on User A's computer.
What is concluded from the observation is, User A cannot login from lync client 2013 from any computer inside and outside of my network and can login from any other client/version/platform inside or outside of my network.
What i checked for is Client Version Policy of User A and User B, but both are same (Automatic). Below is my client version policy and i am using client version 15.0.4605.1000
In Sing In Logs. (By Right click on system tray icon of lync) i got below information.
    Error-1
In Windows 8, event viewer i am getting only Event ID 1 or 12 which says, "
The description for Event ID 12 from source Lync cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
    Lync
    Thanks, Rishi Pandit.

The issue has been resolved by removing an entry from "Trusted Application Server". This application server was being used for Polycom VC infrastructure integration with Lync.
As per Task 4 section in
Polycom and Lync Integration Documentation we have to use below-
    http://support.polycom.com/global/documents/support/strategic_partner_solutions/Polycom_UC_Microsoft_Deployment_W8.pdf
Use the New-CsStaticRoute command to set up a static route for the RealPresence
    Collaboration Server system.
    $route = New-CsStaticRoute -TLSRoute -destination rmx.corp.local
    -port 5061 -matchuri sipdomain.com -usedefaultcertificate $true
where rmx.corp.local is the FQDN of the RealPresence Collaboration Server SIP signaling
domain and sipdomain.com is the name of the Trusted Application Pool you created.
    but this was wrong.
we used sip.domain.com and issue got resolved. Polycom forgot one (.) dot between sip and domain.com which ruined us.
    Thanks.
    Thanks, Rishi Pandit.

  • Cisco Jabber for Telepresence 4.6.3 Setting for "Webex Telepresence" Cloud Service

I am looking for the server setting that can be installed into the Cisco Jabber for Telepresence Client (MOVI) that will allow it to connect to the "Webex Telepresence" cloud service.  I cannot find a download anywhere that has the infomation re-configured for the "Webex Telepresence" service.
Thanks for your help in advance
    Tim
Well after a few hours of searching i have the Answer
The Client can be downloaded from: http://download.telepresence.webex.com/MCX/4.6.3.17194/WIN/JabberVideo_4.6.3GA.exe
This will come with the following setting pre-configured: Sign-in Setting > Internal Server: https://boot.telepresence.webex.com/tmsagent/api/rest/devices/movi/provisioning
If you have the JabberVideo Client installed and just want to change where it gets provisioned from VCS or Webex Telepresence then you should be able to use your current client and just change the internal server settings and clear the external setting.
Then you will need to use your Webex Telepresence Login ID and Password.
    Hope this helps Someone.

  • Cisco Jabber for Mac, possible without a Presence Server?

    Hi all,
is it possible to use the cisco jabber client for Mac without a presence server in the uc environment? A customer is looking for Voip Client/Softphone for their Apple Macs. Instant Messaging is no requirement.
    Regards
    Steffen

    WIlliam,
I belive he could use a Webex Connect account, IPSec VPN, and a CSF device in CUCM to achieve what he is looking for. Though it is a shame that he would need to have Webex Connect to do this just to be able to login to Jabber...
    FYI:
I just tried out the CUP integration with Jabber for Mac with my customer with CUCM 8.6.2(a), CUCXN 8.6.2(a), and CUP 8.6.1 HA. It seemed to work ok (I was using VPN as well). For some reason the directory service said it failed yet I could search for people in the directory and it worked fine (strange...). I think this may be because the XCP Directory Service on both CUP servers will not start (not sure why because I do not seem to need it).
My only complaint is that I originally had Jabber for Mac installed for Webex Connect integration. There appeared to me, that there was no way to re-run that original wizard (I looked all around in the package contents...) and select Cisco Presence instead of Webex Connect. To get around this I used AppCleaner to remove Jabber, re-download from Cisco, and re-install, this time selecting the Presence option. Once I tested I had to rinse-repeat to get my Webex Connect back because that is what we use internally. Hopefully they fix this because it makes it hard for us engineers to test Presence integration during installs.
Opinion on Jabber with Webex Connect:
I love it for creating Instant Meetings - It sends an email instantly to me that I can forward to attendee's right away (most of time not with contacts otherwise I would do it that way).
I love the new iPhone app that was just released as well. Very cool. (Do not like how you cannot be logged into both though, not a big deal, Archives of chats are my biggest concern). It is a pretty seemless login/logout from iPhone to Mac and Mac to iPhone though, which I appreciate.
I have no desire for Phone Services or Voicemail integration so it is annoying that it always says at the bottom of the buddy list "Server or port unreachable". I assume that you need to be connected to VPN in order to have connection to CUCM to use the CSF device... Jabber 8.6 Release Notes says that Jabber is not supported with NAT without VPN
Also the Chat History is weak on Mac, and none existent on iPhone . Would be cool if history was built in like CUPC or Lync, doesn't require going to Finder to view, and messages would archive on server.
Plus we use Exchange UM for our Voicemail so not sure how that would integrate with Webex Connect. I believe Exchange Voicemail in Jabber would work with Presence integration though (which is puzzling but I guess it is because you can do all of those XCP external integrations in CUP. However, don't get me started with CUP/Exchange calendar integration and CUP not supporting SAN certificates with multiple hostnames on Exchange...
Thanks for the info on X-Lite and Bria, I may try out these options. I have been using CIPC through VMWare Fusion and it worked quite well. I believe I needed to install Virtual Audio Cable for the sound to work correctly. I use it through Fusion's "Unity" function and it looks like it is native!
Just my 2 cents. Let me know what you think.
