Cannot make borderless prints on Epson

I am having real difficulty printing borderless prints from my iMac to my Epson Stylus Photo R390 (not sure if this model was released in the USA).
My main problem is that two edges have approx. 3mm of white space.
This is despite multiple attempts at calibrating the paper alignment from within Aperture's print settings.
I have installed the latest Drivers from Epson website.
I am using Aperture 2.1.
Can anyone help me - I am sick of wasting paper and ink?
Sam

Sam,
I am still working on a similar problem with one of my Epson printers. The newer Epson R280 (may be R290 outside the US) works just fine with borderless. The older SP 2200 does not. I have been in communication with Epson, but not yet resolved. For most printers the newest software referenced for Leopard is with EasyPrint, but with this old 2200 the driver referenced is still not nearly as recently released as the EasyPrint frame work. The reply I got back from Epson was not satisfactory because it ignored the fact I am connected to my 2200 via Firewire and not USB, and all reference in the reply was to USB connection. Despite doubting the usefulness of the reply, I will have to move my 2200 much closer to the computer to try connecting with USB, and I simply have not tried it, since I doubt it will help.
My issues with borderless on the SP 2200 are also present when printing borderless from Photoshop CS3 and from Pages. Thus it seems more a problem with Leopard than with Aperture.
Sorry to not be more helpful or hopeful, but I think drivers for some printers are not fully tuned to printing in Leopard.

  • How Do I BORDERLESS PRINT on Epson RX500 in 10.4.7?

    Hello,
    When I set up my Epson RX500 All-In-One printer/scanner I was using 10.3 Panther.
The Print Setup Utility looked just like it does in the setup guide that comes with the unit.
I never used Borderless Printing but in the "Printer List" it showed Stylus Photo RX500 and Stylus Photo RX500(Sheet Feeder - Borderless).
Now a year later (after upgrading to 10.4.7) I want to do some borderless printing with 4x6 and 5x7 photo paper but the "Stylus Photo RX500(Sheet Feeder - Borderless)" listing is not there anymore.
Also the Printer Setup Utility has changed. The screens aren't like they were in 10.3 (where I select EPSON USB from a pull-down menu, etc).
I went to the Epson Website to download new drivers but they only have
TWAIN Driver and EPSON Scan Utility v2.65A for Macintosh OS X (v10.2.x - 10.3.x)
    OR
Printer Driver v3.0aAs for Intel-based Macs with OS X (v10.4.4 or later). There isn't one for PowerPC 10.4.
I CAN print a supposed 4x6 borderless print using Page Setup and "4x6 Borderless" setting for Paper Size but it doesn't come out borderless -- it has borders. There is a 5x7 setting but it doesn't say borderless.
Any help with this problem? I really would like to see the "Sheet Feeder - Borderless" in my Printer List again and do some true bordeless printing!
    Thanks!!
    PowerMac FW800 (G4), iMac G4 800 SuperDrive   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Thank you so much that was a big help.
After you do that, though, you have to click on the Page Setup drop down menu and select Borderless Sheet Feeder instead of Standard from the list -- that's the part I wasn't doing. It defaults to "Standard", whatever that is, and doesn't make the Borderless Printing available if you don't change it.
After that, though, I couldn't get the border even when I wanted one (which I do sometimes) using the RX500 regular setting (NOT borderless) -- it's makes about a 1/10" border instead of a 1/2" one.
FWIW I found that if you then delete Borderless Sheet Feeder (that I tried so hard to get!) from the Printer List and re-start the computer you will then have true border printing again! Re-install Borderless driver to get true borderless again (ugh). I guess I'll have to do that because sometimes I want borderless and other times I don't.
    Thanks!!

  • Lightroom 2.6 Problem Printing Borderless Prints on Epson R800

I have used Lightroom to print borderless prints (using the paper setting - borderless -sheet feeder) and all has worked fine until I downloaded the new Apple Epson driver.  I found this new Apple driver did not work well as the colours were washed out.  So, I went back to the current Epson driver for Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.2) and I can print again.  (The prints are now a bit dark but that can be addressed).
However, I now find I cannot print borderless prints (i.e. with no white edge) via Lightroom 2.6 using the current Epson driver and paper setting of borderless sheet feeder.  The printer responds with "media not loaded correctly".  When I go to Photoshop CS4 or iPhoto, I can print borderless prints. So, something is going on in Lightroom.
Any suggestions?  Except of course to print borderless prints from Photoshop.

  • Difficulty  Printing Borderless Prints with Epson C84

When I had an iMac G3 with OS 9.2 and used the Epson menu for printing, I had no difficulty printing 4x6 inch borderless prints (since that is one of the options on the Epson Menu). But now that I am forced to use the OS 10 printing menu, even when I identify the printer as an Epson C84, crop the photos to fit a 4x6 page and show "0" margins on all sides when selecting 4x6 as paper size, using either iPhoto or Photoshop Elements 3.0, the prints come out with a small white border on all four sides. The Apple Menu with Epson as the chosen printer does not give me an option that says "4 x 6 borderless" when choosing the paper size. Is there something I need to set differently in order to get borderless prints?
    hk Jones

I also had a problem finding the "Borderless" option in the print dialogue. Here's what Epson Support told me to do -- It worked perfectly. I can now print borderless from either of the two macs sharing my Epson 1280.

  • Borderless printing on epson RX600

Hi all, having trouble printing borderless in Aperture on my Epson RX600, if i export the image onto memory card then print on printer its borderless, but from Aperture ( and iPhoto come to that) it has a border, if i try and move the border slider beyond 0.32, nothing happens.
I have the latest drivers from epson installed and the icc profiles work just fine, not a disaster but wondered if anyone else has had a similar problem.
    Cheers

Wow, quick response! I don't seem to have any borderless options in my dropdown so did go ahead and choose custom sizes. That seems to give me 2 less borders to worry about but I can't seem to change the size to fit the whole sheet in the preview view. I'm a bit of a novice at this (obviously). Any morehelp would be appreciated. I didnt use to have any problems getting A4 borderless prints from PS....do I have to go back to using that?
    Cheers again, Lisa

  • Borderless printing on epson 2100...please help!

    Hello,
I've been trying to get borderless printing from aperture on my epson 2100. I've selected borderless printing in the Print Settings but it still won't allow me to move the slider down to 0. I've tried a bunch of different page sizes but basically I want borderless A4 and A3 prints and can't seem to manage it. Please help!
    Thanks Lisa

    Here's a possibility:
    http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t12342.html
Distilling down what they come up with at the end, try defining a custom paper size with a margin of at least .01" on a side - then try the calibration option, and see if you can enter values that expand the image to fit the page to be borderless.
It does seem like a bug with printing though.

    Hi there,
I would have a look at this posting (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=678355). Seems there may be an issue with the Epson USB option on Intel Mac's.

  • Cannot make duplex printing as default in CUPS

I cannot seem to activate default duplex printing setting on my Brother MFC-8660DN through CUPS.
I tried to enable it by going through the CUPS interface (localhost:631). However, even though it is set to "duplex no tumble" as default and it shows on the print dialog ("two sided" option checked), the pages still print single sided.
Strangely, if I uncheck and check again the "two sided" option in the print dialog, the document prints in duplex mode.
I have tried updating the drivers (used the latest Brother CUPS drivers dated 2/15/10), resetting CUPS, deleting/adding the same printer (both USB and network connection), and the problem persists. The same thing happens if I print (via network) from my wife's macbook (10.6.2 as well).
On the other hand, if I use the default PCL driver or the Brother BR-Script3 driver the default duplex setting works.
Has anyone had this same problem?

    Hi @BigKeith,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you are trying to setup the duplex printing as default with your Mac and your HP Photosmart 5520. I am happy to help with these settings!
For further assistance, I will need to know, the version of the Mac Operating System you are using. If you do not know the Operating System you are using, please visit this website. Whatsmyos. Also are you using A4 size paper? Or Letter?
In the meantime, please take a look at this guide. Printing on Both Sides of the Paper (Duplexing) in Mac OS X v10.6. This also works for versions up to 10.9.
Hope this helps, and hope to hear from you soon!

  • Borderless printing photos

I have an HP Deskjet 1220Cxi, Windows XP Home
I do not print pictures much but I have tried recently to get borderless printing on 4x6 HP Premium Photo paper.  However, I cannot figure out how to get the picture on the whole paper without borders.  I researched on the web and tried some printer settings but still cannot get borderless prints.  I do not recall if the settings gave me an option for borderless prints.  Can I get borderless on my printer?  I would hate to have to take what I want printer to the Photo Development Store to get prints when I have a printer that makes great color prints except for the nuisance border.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Looking over the specifications located here, it does not seem that borderless is supported. A workaround could be to trim the borders from the photos but it is understandable that this may be less than preferred.
    Best of Luck!

  • Borderless printing in Aperture 2

I just upgraded to Aperture 2.0 and I can no longer make borderless prints on my Canon Pixma Pro9500. I ran the "Printer Calibration" wizard that is supposed to center the image but it made no difference. Here is my workflow using 8x10 paper.
    Edit Image
    Crop to 8x10 proportions
Select "8x10 borderless" as media size in printer dialog box
Select "Fill Page" under "Scale to..." menu
Move "Border Width" slider to "0"
    Print
I get a small border all the way around the image, the same image will print fine from PS CS3 or Lightroom.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    JB,
The trick to solving this is making an adjustment within the "Printer Settings" from the Aperture print dialogue box. This is the same place where you select paper type and print quality. In the drop down menus select "Borderless Printing." Here you can adjust the amount of extension on your borderless prints. If I have the slider all the way to the left, to "min", I get the same very slight white border all the way around the edge of my prints with either my iP8500 or iP6700D. Moving the slider one step to the right gets rid of the white border and gives me a true borderless print.
Now, the catch is I lose just a bit of the image on the bottom and top. Not much, but a a few pixels. I've learned to crop a little bit wider to accommodate. I hope this helps with your issue.

  • J4540 "Borderless Printing Error"

I'm attempting to print a booklet, side-fold brochure.  My paper size setting is Borderless 8.5X11.  I've printed this brochure many times before using the exact same settings with no problems.  However, when I tried to print today, I had only a black ink cartridge installed; I got an error message reading "Borderless Printing Error: Borderless printing cannot occur with only the Black Ink Cartridge installed. To print a Borderless Photo, install either a tri-color print cartridge, or a photo print cartridge."
Even though the brochure I'm printing is black & white (and it was set on "print in grayscale"), I did have a new Officejet 901 Tri-Color Ink Cartridge handy. So I installed it and received a message that the new cartridge had been detected.  Then I scanned the sheet to align cartridges.  The printer said something like "Installation successful".  However, everytime I try to print this brochure page, I still get the same error message:  "Borderless Printing Error: Borderless printing cannot occur with only the Black Ink Cartridge installed. To print a Borderless Photo, install either a tri-color print cartridge, or a photo print cartridge."
I tried re-starting, unplugging, etc., but I can't get it to print -- even though I'm using the same settings I have before. I went online and tried printing a couple of color pages and it printed them out just fine -- so the color cartridge is working. Not sure why I keep getting this message.
I'm no expert on this stuff, and any help/advice would be appreciated.  Thanks a bunch,
    Jason

I wish I could help you, and I'm unhappy to see that you put this message up in April and have no response yet.
I too get this "cannot print" message - not that the cartridge is missing, but that I cannot do borderless printing with ONLY the black cartridge. I have the color cartridge installed, I've done prints of the same pages before, and I cannot seem to get the printer (HP Photosmart C4780 wireless) printer to work when that message comes up. I'd love to get some help from HP.
Some things I've tried. On my iMac I shut down all applications that are not necessary, and relaunch my finder. I think that clears out its brain a little. Then I'll try to print again (It just worked - same exact page).
Also, sometimes I open the HP Utility and ask it to print a test page. That also seems to clear it's brain. After that it worked also.
I think there's a sometimes "glitch" in the program. Cleaning things out as much as possible, and starting over again seem to help.  GOOD LUCK!

  • Aperture 2.0 / Epson (Multiple Printers) Borderless Printing Issue

Our photography business recently purchased some Nikon D3s. As Aperture 2.0 is necessary to utilize them, we became an early adopter of Aperture 2.0. Immediately after the upgrade, borderless printing became impossible on all of our Epson R2400s and our Epson 3800s.
Through a VERY painful process, we were able to get the R2400s to print borderless 4x6s, but no other sizes. The 3800s are a different story. Not only is it impossible to print borderless, but the printed images are rotated by about 1-2 degrees in the clockwise direction.
It is important to note that no other program (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.) are experiencing this behavior -- only Aperture and immediately following the 2.0 upgrade.
One oddity that may provide a clue. All combinations of paper, border size, "expand" settings, etc. have been tried. Every time, even the calibration pages printed with a border. On paper, however, allows the calibration page to print to the edge, however, 16-bit printing MUST BE TURNED OFF. Although it prints to the edge, it is still rotated by 1-2 degrees. Turning off 16-bit printing does NOT, however, make any image print correctly -- only the calibration page (and it is not correct).
Apple -- if you are reading this, please respond as quickly as possible. We rely on aperture for our business workflow. It is not practical for us to print every image out of Adobe's suite.

Epson hasn't released a driver for the 1280 since July of 2006. Real simple to check:
    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid= 14387&prodoid=28907797&infoType=Downloads&platform=Macintosh
I think that's an Epson problem, not an Aperture problem. Many printer drivers had to be updated for OS X 10.5 Leopard (released in October of 2007). Hopefully one is coming, but that is an older printer, so I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope.
I didn't check for the Kodak, but it should be easy for you to find that info over at Kodak's web site.

  • Borderless printing in Tiger with Epson

This has been a nightmare all along. Can anybody tell me how to print borderless with an Epson Stylus Photo RX500 on 4 x 6 inch? In addition to this it seems impossible to print borderless on 5 x 7 inch?

  • Borderless printing (Epson printer)

I use Photoshop CS on a Mac G4 (PPC) with OS X 10.4.11. My printer is an Epson Stylus Photo R340.
I usually print photos and scans by setting my printer to 'Best Photo' for print quality and 'No colour management', opening the images in Photoshop and using 'Print with Preview' and Photoshop's colour management; but I have also on occasion set Photoshop to 'Output' and allowed the printer and its software to manage the colour.
I usually get good results with both methods — especially the first. I have now made the extraordinary discovery that if I set my paper size to 'Borderless — sheet feeder' (any actual size. e.g. A4 borderless or 4" x 6" borderless), the colour and print quality settings (i.e. 'Best Photo') are overridden  and the printer prints very rapidly, producing a print with hideous colour balance, a  ridiculously low gamma (i.e. extreme lightness) and poor definition. This happens regardless of whether Photoshop's or the printer's colour management is used
That this has something to do with Photoshop is prved by the fact that if I open the images in Preview it does not happen. If anyone can shed any light on this strange phenomenon, and can suggest how I could achieve borderless printing with my chosen quality while using Photoshop, I should be very grateful.

I've gotten it to print to my Epson RX700 very reliably. There are several things to be aware of. First, when selecting the printer settings, make sure the paper selection is correct. If you choose matte instead of glossy premium, for example, the print will be off-center. Next, make sure the size of the paper is set correctly in the printer settings, e.g. 4x6 borderless. Once you've finished setting up the printer, in the print dialog, also make sure you have the right paper size set up (why do we need to do this in two places?) and make sure it's configured to print on the whole page, not the whole photo. Finally, there's a slider that controls the border all around the photo. Slide it all the way left until it's at zero. That should get you a nice borderless print.
Oh, one other thing, always double-check the printer settings before making your first print. After shutting down Aperture, the next time it seems to forget my last settings. Subsequent prints should print out properly without changing settings again.
I've never needed to use the calibrate button. If you make sure the paper type and size are set properly in print settings as well as in the print dialog, and borders are at zero, you should be set to go.

For some reason, I am unable to print a borderless 4X6 photograph using my Epson R200 printer. All other photos print without any trouble, just not the borderless prints ... anyone have any suggestions?

    1) Open your PRINT SETUP UTILITY (you can open this by opening your HARD
DRIVE, APPLICATIONS, UTILITY, PRINTER SETUP UTILITY). Make sure your
printer is powered on at this point.
    2) If your printer is listed, simply highlight it and click DELETE. Once
the printer has been removed from the Print Center, click the ADD button.
If your printer is not listed, click the ADD button.
    3) In the window that appears, select EPSON USB from the drop-down menu,
and then select your printer. Once your printer has been selected, click on
    the name to highlight it.
    4) Once the printer is highlighted, a Page setup will appear at the bottom
of the print center window. Simply click the drop-down menu and select ALL.
**PLEASE NOTE: ALL MUST BE SELECTED FOR BORDERLESS PRINTING SUPPORT. **
    Then click ADD.
    5) You will now see several listings in the Printer list for the printer.
Highlight the appropriate printer for your printing. For example, Stylus
Photo 900(Roll paper) or Stylus Photo 900(Sheet Feeder-Borderless)
depending on what type of media you are selecting. Then click MAKE DEFAULT
on the toolbar or click PRINTERS on the menu and click MAKE DEFAULT. Close
    the Print Center.
    6) Please ensure you have the correct paper size selected in the printer
driver under PAGE SETUP and that the correct printer option is selected in
the menu listed under FORMAT FOR(these two must be the same, if the Sheet
Feeder-Borderless is the default printer, if must be the same in this
Format for option) and try printing.
