Cannot make or receive calls, divert not working!

New to this forum (hello!) but am at my wits end with BT customer care!
My mother is elderly and lives alone, a working phone line is very important to her.  She finds a mobile very difficult to use so her BT landline is rucial  She has limited hearing and has a special amplified handset.
A few weeks ago, her line became impossibly noisy with static and crackling.  An engineer came and has since fixed the problem.
Since Monday she has not been able to make or receive calls at all - the phone is crackling and sounds like it has been left 'off the hook' if that mankes sense!  I have unplugged all her handsets, tried my own phone (which I know works fine) plus a corded phone in all sockets.  Still the same problem.  So I called the fault line and spoke to someone in a call centre, booked an engineer for this Friday, got told about he charges etc etc.
The main problem is although her phone is set to divert to my mobile now, if you call her number, it goes straight to voicemail 1571 and not through to me.  I have called back the fault line, got another script reader in "customer services" (no help at all)  and cannot get anyone to help me!!!
Can anyone offer any advice??  I have spent hours trying to fix this for her and she is getting increasingly panicked by not having a phone she can use.  Can anyone help???

They normally reply by email or phone directly to you within 3 working days they will take personal ownership of your problem until resolved and will keep you informed of progress

    On my iPhone 4 (not S) I got the "Restore Needed - iPhone cannot make or receives calls" message. I restored the phone, and it worked for about 30 minutes, then got the same message. I read on one of the forums here to try doing "Reset Network Settings" in the General Settings pane, which fixed it for 30 minutes or so again.
    Is there anything else to try or should I just head to the Genius Bar? Can you take it to an ATT store for repair/replacement?

    Apple handles all hardware/software issues.  If you've had the device less than 30 days, you can exchange it at an AT&T store.  If you've had it more than 30 days, do not waste your time at an AT&T store, there is nothing they can do for you.
    Have you tried a restore as new to see if the problem continues?  It is entirely possible that the issue is something specific to the backup or a corrupted file/setting in the backup.

    You haven't enabled VoLTE (Advanced calling) have you?  Not that it makes a difference just curious. 
    Have you upgraded to Lollipop yet?

    Just started getting this message on an IPAD:

    3g and wifi is not working. The ipad has only been connected to itunes once when the device was set up so I'm worried about losing everything.
    I've looked online a bit and found a bunch of users with this issue on their iphone but couldn't find many ipad users with the issue. It sounds like the only way to make it work is to "restore" it or get a new one. "restore" means factory reset? Will I be able to back up everything first?
    I may try upgrading the device to ios 4 first.
    Anyone else encounter this issue and know how to fix it?

    Strangely it started working on it's own after a few days. Then I connected it to itunes, created a backup, and upgraded to 3.22. Of course it quit working on vacation then started working again when I was on my way home. I guess I better bring my laptop next time in case it acts up again. Too bad ipad and iphones are tied down and require a PC.

    so i walked back over to my table and saw it looked like i had a text that just came it and it was this message that said "Repair needed, iPhone cannot make or receive calls". no service, restarted the phone and its all good now.
    fluke or do i need to be calling apple?
    going to an apple store isnt exactly easy for me now (nearest one is an hour away, after aug 11 ill be really close to one though)
    the threads i found via search on this were either no answers or just "restore it and if it happens again call apple".
    i do have a habit of getting dud phones every time i get a cell phone (first razr needed to be replaced right out of the box, first gen iphone the home button wore out in 4 weeks so i was kind of hoping 3rd time would be the charm, not sure though)

    This same thing happened to me last night. Same error and when I tried to restore I kept getting the 1604 error. I was working and it happened around 11:00pm. I setup an appointment with the 5th Ave. store in NYC for 2:10am. I get there and one guy tells me it will be covered under my warranty. The "genius" tells me something is caught in the headphone jack and that they can't get the spill detector in there to verify if it's spill damage and that I'm up the creek. So, $199 for a 1st gen 8GB or $199 for a new 8GB 3G. I'm really upset about this as I didn't have a working phone and that's not very conducive to my line of work and I'm told I yet again need to spend more money. There was nothing I could do and they wouldn't budge I ended up getting a new 16GB White 3G today, but I'm not happy with this outcome. The new phone is nice, but I really thought long and hard about sticking with my original iPhone till next year. I hope that you outcome is much brighter At least I didn't have to wait in line today. I walked right into the 14th St. store and they said they had 2 16GB's if I was interested in one and I took it.

    I cannot make or receive call from my E72. Even cannot send or receive sms. When i dail any number a lock sign appears in front of number and nothing happens. When i restart my phone then its start working fine. I am extremely annoyed the basic functionality of cell phone is to make or recive call if  we cannot perform this task what is the use of buying such expensive E-series phone. I need resolution.

    I have uploaded a picture although quality is not good, i will provide a good quality picture later. If you see upper right corner above the green cradle there is an open lock.
    What i observe is when the cell or connection is working the lock appears open but when there is problem at cell or connection end it appears as closed.
    I told you earlier i used the same SIM with Nokia 3110c since 2008 till october 2010 it worked fine i never encountered problem of this sort.
    As per your advice i will check with service provider also.
    No the lock problem doesnot appear quickly after restart it take around 2 to 3 days.

    I cannot make or receive calls from my Mac using Iphone from my home wifi network BUT i can do it while I'm using my office's wifi connection. what to do?

    Are you saying that your house has both a home wifi network and your office's wifi network?
    Or are you using the Mac and Phone at both work and home?
    This is the Mac Pro desktop forum so are you lugging the Mac Pro desktop to work?
    Can you use FT and Messages on your home network?

    It sounds like a hardware or AT&T issue. Contact AT&T.

    If you are getting a message the iPhone needs to be restored with iTunes, this means there is a major problem. Have you restored the iPhone with iTunes on your computer?

      Woke up this morning and my phone icon was missing on my home screen.  It wouldn't be a huge deal, but I also discovered that I cannot make or receive calls.  I have had several people try to reach me and they all say it goes straight to voicemail.  Even if I try to dial a number and hit send, nothing happens.  I have searched all of my folders to see if it was hiding, have reset my theme, taken out the battery, blah, blah, blah.  The only thing I have working for me is that both e-mail and text messages are working fine.  Please, if anyone has a suggestion I'd love to hear asap.

    I want to make sure you are both able to make calls as normal.  Did this occur after installing any new applications or adjusting any settings?  Is the device still showing adequate signal strength?  Based on the the device still receiving text messages the voice signal is still transmitting to the device.  I would like to take a closer look at your account settings.  Please send a Direct Message with your name and account information and I can investigate further.

    I recently purchased my iphone and when I first installed my sim it worked - was able to make and receive calls.
    Since then I have been adding applications, songs etc and generally played around with the phone.
    Now I have discovered I cannot make or receive calls or text messages.
    I think I may have done something accidently.
    Have tried all the suggestions on the apple site but still no luck.
    Can anybody offer any other suggestions.

    Did you check if you set your iPhone to Flight Mode by mistake?  If you did, he will only work as an iPod, no calls or messaging.
    If you did the above, just set it back to normal, you will need to access settings on your iPhone, it is easy to check.

    Has anyone received this before & know what the issue is?

    If you are restoring from a backup, that's your problem. The backup is corrupt. After you restore, you need to select "Set up as new." You will need to reinstall everything again.
