Cannot manually add tracks to ipod

Ok, i am trying to get tracks onto a 80gig ipod from an old clamshell g3 - it is connected via usb1.
There are a few issues - last night i set it to synch automatically and it transferred all of the tracks to the ipod. the this morning most of them had disappeared. As i felt it may be a synching issue i switched synching off and tried to move them over manually by dragging and dropping a selection of tracks but it would not let me do this (no green + sign appeared).
This is all very different to how things operate with my ipod nano and ipod mini so i cant work out what is going on!

It's not really that big of a deal, in fact it's kind of an obscure glitch, but I wouldn't refrain from upgrading just because of this expected behaviour that only happens under a specific set of circumstances.
that said, a bug is a bug and it should still get fixed.

  • TS1347 I cannot manually add an appt to my iPhone 4S calendar

After I updated my iPhone 4S with new operating sys I cannot manually add events to my calendar.

It means that you have too many tasks running on your phone (in the background) and need to close them down. You do this by deleting the tasks from the multi-bar at the bottom of the phone screen.
To delete tasks off the multitask bar, click the button on the bottom/front of the phone twice quickly. This will dislay just the multitask bar at the bottom of the screen (generally you see Music, Phone, Mail, and Safari here). Then click one of those tasks and you'll see all the items in your multi-task bar start to wiggle. You can scroll across from right to left to see all the apps you still have running, even if you aren't using them. click the X on each of these to close the apss -- this will not delete them from your OS. I did this and am now able to create Calendar events again!

  • Cannot Manually Add Top Sites

This problem is driving my nuts.
On both of my Macs, I cannot manually add URLs to Top Sites as I used to be able to. Dragging a URL into a Top Sites window (in "Edit" mode), does nothing. It used to allow the URL to be dropped in an available space, manually creating a Top Site.
This isn't working on my 2011 MacBook Pro, and I was curious to see if it would work on my new Mac Mini that I just got, out of the box....nope.
    Both Safari 6.0.1 and OS X 10.8.2
Reset Safari > Reset Top Sites has no effect.

    I have the same problem.
It would be nice to have a suggestion for solving this problem.

  • I Suddenly Cannot Manually Add Artwork To Songs (??)

I'm running itunes 10.5.2.11 on a Toshiba NB505 Netbook running Windows 7 Starter.  Everything has been working fine.  Until last night when suddenly I am unable to manually add artwork.  I usually click and drag from amazon.com.  But I also tried copying the image and pasting it.  It looks like it's been added, but when I exit it's not there.
The last time i tried it, it actually displayed the "updating..." message for each song on the album, but again it is not displaying.  I have tried adding different artwork to different albums.  I also shut everything down and restarted the machine.  Same thing.  It just suddenly is broken.
    Any ideas?

Ok I know more.  The two discs I was adding artwork to had a small number of tracks.  One had 2 and the other had 3.  I believe this is why the artwork was not showing.
I selected the "Always Show Artwork" option, and the artwork displays fine.  But of course all the tracks that don't have artwork are now displaying the empty generic artwork placeholder.
    Is there another option ?

  • Cannot Manual add music or restore

Back in June I bought an iPod shuffle for the missus and had problems manually adding music. This was fixed as described here: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2501294
I've not tried changing any of the tracks since then until this weekend, where once again I couldn't add any tracks, and received this error: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/groves.darren/ipod/readwriteerror.jpg then when you click OK you get this error: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/groves.darren/ipod/uknownerror.jpg
I tried to 'restore' the iPod through Itunes and then got this error: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/groves.darren/ipod/restoreerror.jpg
    Itunes version: 7
    Ipod software version: 1.1.4
The fix before was to leave the shuffle in the iTunes source list, but I can't even find that option anymore.
    Any suggestions please people.
    Thanks

Thanks, I had already found that document.
I can confirm I'm running XP and it's up to date, I have installed the latest chipset & USB drivers (VIA). I have tried with no other software running, anti-virus disabled, in the USB ports at the rear (connected to the mobo), and the those at the breakout panel at the front - no different.
The only way I can now choose which songs I want on the shuffle is by creating another profile on my PC, and having just the tracks I want on the shuffle in the iTunes library, restoring to factory setting, and on the initial connection choosing autofill.
As soon as I try and add anything manually i get the error I previously stated, and then the iPod won't play, you get the flashing green/orange lights.
    Any others ideas?

  • Can not manually add podcast to iPod, help?

When I'm in the iTunes (4.5) podcast library it does not manually let me drag ones I have downloaded to my iPod podcast list. What do I need to do to make this work? and I do have it set to manual...

Note the that iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.
You can copy media from the iPod to the your computer by:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device: Apple Support Communities
However the greyed songs may be corrupted files and may not be recoverable.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Can media be copied to AppleTV manually like iPhon or iPod?

Is there a way to copy specific media to AppleTV like you can when you set iTunes to Manually add media to iPod or iPhone instead of having to sync it.
eg: I want to be able to drag selected media to AppleTV like I can with an iPhone or iPod
It seems you HAVE to sync and have few choices like last 5 watched or 5 most recent... etc.
    Thanks,
    Joe

It would be so usefulto have drag and drop.
You could set up a custom playlist and sync that, dragging/removing files from the playlist.
One way only to AppleTV though.

How do I manually add an audiobook to my ipod?

First make sure your iPod is set to manually manage by enabling the Manually manage music and videos option from under the iPod's Summary tab.  Once you have done this, you can manually click and drag the audiobook and its tracks over to your iPod from under the Devices section in the lefthand pane of iTunes.

No. If they reformat, you can no longer track it.

I am using LR3.2.   I often use "Previous" to paste settings onto a picture, including a crop with an aspect such as 5x7.  When I then go into the crop tool and grab one of the corners to resize the crop, it snaps back to the "Original" aspect ratio.
