  • I cannot move E-mails to trash on my Iphone 4, I had no poblem up until now?

Iphone 4  Up until recently had no problem, now I cannot move E-mails to trash.  Technical ignorant, what do I do?

    Hey beanbob,
Thanks for the question. The following resource should assist you in troubleshooting moving emails to the Trash on an iOS device:
Get help with Mail on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3899
    "Unable to move message"
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar. Then tap your email.
    Tap Account.
    Tap Advanced.
Tap Deleted Mailbox and make sure it's set to Trash.
Tap Advanced > Account. Then tap Done.
If you see the issue again, repeat steps 1 through 3, tap IMAP Path Prefix, then Inbox. After you make your changes, tap Account, then Done.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Cannot delete 1 mail message on iPad

Cannot delete 1 mail message on iPad.  Looks corrupted.

You could try deleting it by logging into your account on a browser. Otherwise try turning the account off and on and see if you can then delete it : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app completely and try again when you re-open Mail : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Inbox reloads, cannot move or delete messages

I'm on a Macbook Air, OS X 10.9.4, using Thunderbird. Previously used Mail, switched in hopes of solving this problem (didn't work). Email is IMAP.
Every few minutes, my inbox will completely refresh and re-download all messages. Many of the actions I had taken will not be reflected - some messages will be marked read, but not all, for example.
I cannot move anything out of my inbox. If I delete, archive, or otherwise move a message, it will appear both in the new folder and again in the inbox, the next time the inbox reloads. If I delete an email five times over the course of the morning, there will be five copies in the trash and one still in the inbox.
As far as I know, I am able to send and receive email without issue.
I was previously using Mail and had a similar experience, though in Mail, all inbox messages would disappear and I had to rebuild or quit/open Mail to get the inbox to reappear. In Thunderbird, it is refreshing on its own.
    Help!!

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore is not, in itself, a solution.
First, empty the Trash, if possible.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    find ~ $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 \) 2>&- | wc -l | pbcopy
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear.
The output of the command will be a number. It's automatically copied to the Clipboard. Please paste it into a reply.
The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.

  • Cannot SAVE Apple Mail Messages

Until recently I was able to SAVE Apple Mail messages as rtf files. I can no longer do this. Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone have a solution?
    Thanks.
    Mary

    Hi Mary,
That just started happening to me as well. I came to the forums to see if there was an answer. For the time being a temporary solution is to drag the mail from a mailbox to the desktop where it copies it to an .eml file which includes all attachments etc.
I'm on a Mac Pro 10.5.6 and use Mobile Me to sync an iPod Touch, MacBook Pro and my Mac Pro. I'm mentioning that because I wonder if this might be some snafu with Mobile Me?

  • I cannot erase e-mail messages I have read

We have a new iPad2.  My wife enjoys reading and sending e-mails using the Mail app.  However for some reason she cannot erase any of the messages she receives.  The error message is that the message cannot be placed in the Trash Basket.  What are we doing wrong?

    Try
    settings
    mail and contacts
    the e-mail account in question
    advanced
and then look to see what the settings for deleted messages is. When it is to be removed.
If all those settings are to allow you to delete from the iPad then there may be something with your e-mail provider and what they allow/dont' allow. I know my yahoo and my hotmail both act differently so there may be settings with the e-mail provider itself keeping you from deleting the messages

  • Cannot open Mac Mail messages.

    Hi
I have a G5 pre Intel OS 10.5.8, with Mac Mail v 3.6. I cannot open my messages. I still can receive and send messages. I checked with my ISP and my settings are correct. Mac Mail's Connection Doctor says connection with the internet and my ISP are good.
I believe I will have to reinstall Mac Mail. I first want to make sure my messages are saved.
Does anyone know where on my computer the messages reside?
Where can I get just Mac Mail to reinstall or must I reinstall the OS?
    Thanks

What exactly happens when you try to open them?
    On Mail...
First Quit Mail, then I'd backup these two Mail folders, by right clicking on them in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
    Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail
    Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail Downloads
(Could be a different folder here if you chose such in Mail Prefs)
Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup),  it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup
Note, in 10.5 & up /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/ may not exist.
    Get Pacifist...
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
then extract/install what you need from your Install Disc.

  • Cannot delete e-mail message

Problem, there are 4 messages that cannot be deleted. When the messages are selected and the delete button clicked. The messages disappear from the inbox. When you click on the trash it is empty and returning to the inbox the messages are still there.
I tried manually deleting the messages from the User -> Library -> Mail -> Inbox. But on restarting mail the messages are still there.
Other messages can be deleted. But, if any of the 4 that can't be delete are hightlighted now other messages cannot be deleted.
The computer that is having these issues is a MacBook Pro, running 10.5.2 and Mail version 3.1.
Any thoughts or ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Deleting the messages manually from the User -> Library -> Mail -> Inbox and then restarting Mail and in Mail Rebuilding the Inbox solved the problem.

  • How Can I Move Individual Mail Messages to Folders Without Dragging Each One?

In my business, I get a lot of client email.  I also create and store a lot of client documents.  To manage everything, I have created a main folder named "Clients" on my Mac, and have also created a separate subfolder for each individual client to hold both documents and correspondence pertaining to that specific client.  When I want to save an email to that folder, I drag that message to the desktop to then be filed in the individual client's folder.  It's a two step process, but one I've been using successfully for some time.
This was not such a big deal before Mail became a beautiful full-screen app.  But now, in order to take advantage of Mail's full-screen capabilities, I have to first exit full screen each time I wish to drag a message out of Mail to my desktop.  Then once the message or messages have been dragged out, I have to reenable full-screen.  That's a couple of additional steps and a real nusiance.  I've considered creating a mailbox for each client in Mail, but with hundreds of clients that's really not an option.
My question is as follows: Is anyone aware of any app, script, or add on available for Mail, that would allow me to either move or copy individual email messages directly to my desktop or to a folder without having to go through exiting and enabling full screen each time?  Perhaps an app or script that offers a dedicated right-click in the context menu?  Or one that offers the "Desktop" as a location in the current right click "Move To" menu?  Or that would create a keyboard shortcut that would accomplish that task?  I've searched online, but have been unable to come up with anything.
Thanks in advance for your help. Any advice or suggestions you could give would be most appreciated!
    Patrick

Have you tried dragging the mail from the inbox and dropping it where you want to save it - all in the MAILBOXES sidebar? If you make the sub folders visible, you should be able to deposit the mail wherever you like.

  • N73 defect: cannot delete e-mail messages

I've noticed a defect in the N73 which I'm able to reproduce reliably. The steps are as follows:
    - Set up a POP3 account with standard settings (specifically, in Retrieval Settings, specify "E-mail to retrieve: Headers only")
    - Connect to a POP3 e-mail account containing new messages. New message headers are downloaded.
    - Select a message and choose Options > Delete (or press the C key)
    - Choose either "Phone and server" or "Phone only"
At this point the Messaging applications closes. There's no error message: it just disappears and you're back to the standby screen. When you start the app again the e-mail has not been deleted.
This is happening on an N73 shipped in the UK, 3G version (with 2 cameras - I believe there's a 1-camera 2.5G version too?). Firmware information is:
    V 2.0628.0.0.1
    10-07-2006
    RM-133
    Nokia N73 (39.01)
I'd be very glad of some feedback if this is fixed in a future ROM version so I can get it upgraded. Otherwise, I have to say, a superb phone. :-)

It's not a problem with the (missing?)instructions from the manual.
I've already complained at Nokia and they've sent me a
formal mail with instructions how to do it
(and be assured: they were like you would expect it to be!).
After sending them a more detailed description on how to
reproduce the problem they stopped communication.
(So much for the good service!)
But this phone and the current firmware just cannot
    handle email correctly.
The only way how I'm currently working around the problem:
    1. Opening the mail
    2. Deleting the (still opened) mail
    3. Disconnecting from the mail account manually while still in the viewer; then email will get deleted.
    /Frank

  • Cannot move e-mails with attachments in Outlook 2013

    Hi all,
I've got an Exchange 2010 server, to which users connect using Outlook 2013. Moving items from the Inbox to a subfolder of the Inbox works fine. But, when an e-mail is moved which contains an attachment, it suddenly results in an error message:
Can't move the items. The item   could not be moved. It was either already moved or deleted, or access was   denied.
This is the case for all accounts, even domain admins.
According to Microsoft in KB924254 a possible cause might be a slow drive. However, this is absolutely not the case, given the fact that the Exchange server has 5 Solid State Disks.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Based on your description, users can move messages that don’t contain attachments to any other folders without any problem( not only subfolder of the Inbox ), and there is problem to move messages that contains attachment to whatever folders, right?
Please check this issue in OWA.
Please use the 'Move' operation from the context menu of the item to check this issue in Outlook.
Please switch to a PC not joined your domain to check this issue.
    Best Regards.

  • How to move e-mail messages between folders?

Coming form the iPhone to Nokia I find it difficult to move messages from inbox to another folder which I have created. Moreover, I cannot create a new folder on my Nokia n97 mini. Please tell me if there is a way to do this. Thanks in advance!

Moving email messages to another file location is not supported. But I don't see a need for it. Creating folders as part of Messaging function is still the same routine, go to My Folders.
I came here looking for answers, I ended up offering some...
