Cannot move mail to trash

iPad stopped receiving mail after IOS6 upgrade. Deleted accout, added it back. Can now get mail, just cannot put in the trash and delete. Help!

It's worked for me (I've been having this problem too)...
Go to Settings
... Mail
.... "Click" to choose your IMAP account
... Scroll down and click "Advanced"
... Under "Mailbox Behaviors" click "Deleted Mailbox"
... Scroll down to the bottom, under "On the Server", and click "Trash"
... Get back to the main Account info box by clicking the " <Advanced " text/choice at the top left -- twice
... And click "Done".
Worked for me after annoyingly not being able to figure it out for over a year :-/

My hotmail suddenly saying 'Error cannot move mail to Trash' Help pls!

It's always worked fine and I've changed no settings but it's suddenly stopped working and saying unable to delete message. Why? I've read lots of different threads about a fix involving going into settings-Mail-advanced and checking the delete message/trash option, mine already is checked, not the archive option but it still isn't working. I've tried I checking and re checking the box, soft reset the phone and deleting my account time and time again. But nothing is helping.
Please someone help because it's driving me mad!

Why will iPad not move mail to trash

Just setting up windows mail on ipad2 but when deleting emails get message saying cannot move mail to trash.
Any ideas?

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Then select the account where you've got the problem, then select Account, Advanced, Deleted Mailbox, and under On The Server tap the 'Trash' folder (or whatever it is called by your provider) so that it gets a tick against it - then come out of that series of screens and try deleting them again

I cannot move mail to the mail trash without a message that says: 65530.emix couldn't be copied to 'messages'because an item with the same name already exists. The mail is transferred to the trash but still remains in the inbox.

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

Intermittent "Cannot move Mail to mailbox" Errors.

Has anyone else experienced intermittent "Cannot move Mail to mailbox" error messages?
I've done everything I can think of to track this problem down: packet sniffing, reviewing the IIS logs, looking at the event viewer to see if anything is dieing around the time of the request, switching from AT&T Edge (3G isn't reliable here) to WI-FI and back again, etc.
I have noticed while packet sniffing that when the error occurs there is a [RST, ACK] returned instead of [FIN, ACK].
This is an intermittent problem that has been plaguing us for a few weeks now.
Our setup includes: windows server 2008, IIS 7, and exchange 2007 with all patches and roll-ups applied.

What argues FOR a server problem is that millions of users don't have the problem. I see it occasionally when the cell signal is very weak.
I had a problem a couple of months ago where the push stopped working. My SA looked at it and fixed it. This is not the same problem you have, but it could be related. Here is his explanation:
+We ran windows updates on Promail a weekend or so before this problem on the 28th. One of the updates was a DNS fix that expanded the dynamic port range dns is using. Problem was, in it’s infinite wisdom, MS allowed this range change to include 2883, the AUTD or active sync port. So we had to do a registry change to exclude the port for Active sync only. it is rrecommended that you never have iPhoto delete your photos - import them and be sure they are safely in iPhoto and then after one (or more) backup cycles use the camera's format command to reformat the memorycard and delete the photos
As to the lack of being ask
A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

[SOLVED] Cannot move file to trash

Hi
When i try to delete files they are deleted but they do not appear in trash bin. So when i click on "Move to trash" the pop up window appear and say:
Cannot move file to trash, do you want to delete immediately?
What am i doing wrong?

I have already got installed gvfs. Interesting thing is that the Trash folder under ~/.local/share/Trash
have the following permission:
drwx------ 4 root root 4096 Feb 27 21:57 Trash
On Ubuntu it has this permissions:
drwx------ 5 saso 1000 4096 Sep 20 10:19 Trash
If i change permission from root to my username i can't delete files at all. Has this got something with group 1000? How can i add group 1000?

I cannot move my message to trash in Mail (Macbook Pro): "the destination mailbox does not allow message to be moved to it"

My IPhone occassionally will not allow me to delete email and shows a message that I cannot move the mail (to trash). The settings seem the same on my IPad which works fine and I can delete from my computer, but not the IPhone. This is frequent and annoying.

Another glitch in the Mail feature of my new iPhone5. When I click on the trash can to send an email from my Inbox to trash, I get a popup that says: "Unable to Move Message. The message could not be moved to the mailbox Trash." And the email stays in the Inbox. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Are you hitting edit then checking the email your wanting to move to trash, then click move and hit trash?

First thing I would try is simply relaunch your Finder.
