Cannot move New Canvas with move tool

I am experimenting with putting 2 images side by side into one canvas and in my friend's computer (a Mac laptop), she can move the canvas. I can't and when I create a new canvas, the 2 images disappear from the layers panel. We both have CS6 and a Mac, but she has a more recent Operating System. Also, when I click on the CS6 icon on my desktop, it doesn't have "Open All Windows" as she has. A total puzzle since we both have Macs and CS6.

Without seeing your screen its hard to determine whats going on. But on a Mac photoshop has the option of having the canvas in its own frame or seperate which allows you to see other apps that are running.
Normally the move tool does not move the canvas. It will move objects and layers though. The hand tool is used to move the canvas. But only when you are zoomed in beyond 100%.
If I am miss-interpreting your post, I appologize and will need further information to alter my advice.

In that case, I'd suggest you make sure both ethernet ports are unplugged from the RAID, power it off and on, plug a cable directly from a laptop to the RAID, set the IP of your laptop to 169.264.11.11 with subnet mask 255.255.0.0, then do "ping 255.255.255.255" and you should see a response from the IP address used by the RAID.
This question is very common here... there are other threads where I've answered this so I won't clarify further here.

Spawning new window with link tool

I'm using Adobe Standard 9 for Windows and need to spawn a new tab/window for a hyperlink on a pdf that's being viewed on a browser.
Any ideas how to do this?

I am using AA8Pro and am finding the same problem when I create the pdf using the "Convert to Adobe PDF" tool in Word 2003. Any of the hyperlinks to other pdf documents will close the current document when you select one of them.
I cannot find a way to directly edit the window action properties for the link. When you have the link tool selected in AA and select the link properties, you need to click on the Action tab, edit the "Open File" command, and re-select the file to open. Only then will you get the window to select how to open the linked document.
This completely negates the advantage of having the links created automatically during the conversion process. Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?

Color Shift when copying original photo to new canvas

Using PSE2, I am processing photos of children, printing desired sizes, but have a puzzle when trying to make a wallet sheet or other multiple images moved to one print-ready sheet. (My printer is carefully calibrated with ICM profiles for each photo paper I use.) My enhanced, clean, perfect-when-printed color works fine for the 4x6, 5x7 or 8x10 or other sizes. For example, I resize the flattened image and print a single wallet size to recheck color or paper selection. BUT, to make a wallet sheet using multiple copies of my good image (not using the print package because I want custom sizing), I copy the small image 3 times onto the new canvas with white background layer. Using the grid, I place the 3 images perfectly, flatten that strip, repeat until I have 9 wallets per sheet. However, the puzzle is, every time I print this sheet which printed perfectly as a single image previously, the new sheet of photos has a definite color shift, quite noticeable from my originally printed, both on the screen and on the photo paper. Why would the image file change somehow between the first test print of the single picture and the copied-to-a-new-canvas multiple image sheet? Can't understand why this would happen, but it does every time. Also, when printing 2 5x7 images on one 8.5x11 sheet, I have to print the image in two distinct print jobs, turning the paper between jobs so I get the original color as expected. Strange. Can you help?

I also have PSE2 and I tried duplicating your problem but the colors are same (thank goodness!) whether printed single or multiple. Did this just start or have you always had the problem? How did you create the blank file that you placed the pictures on?
This is a long shot, but you might try resetting the preferences file; this cures many PSE problems which pop up for no apparent reason. To do this, press and hold Alt-Ctrl-Shift (Option-Command-Shift on Mac) immediately while starting PSE (the timing is critical, you may have to try this several times). A dialog box will pop up with the question "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings file?". Click YES.

Cannot move objects with Selection Tool

Having problems moving a selcected with Selection Tool: the selection does not move.
Also cannot isolate imported picture as it always seems to be selected, even when deselected: Selection Tool always activates first layer even though I'm on another layer
Any new imported burshes i make up are not saved, even though file names shows up: only managed to save one brush
I nearly awlays have to re select stroke width everytime I use selection tools or re open file.
Are the problems due to compatibility issues with Mac OS and Illustrator CS4, as this new version is know to be very buggy in the industry.

I apologize for the unavailability of the site, owing to some mess by the webhost. This is an extract:
Up to Illustrator 10, almost all the preference settings were included in the AIPrefs/Adobe Illustrator Prefs file, and almost all issues with corrupted settings could be solved by deleting or moving it; in some rare cases, moving or deleting the folder holding the settings was required.
From Illustrator CS on, the preference settings have been spread over a number of files/subfolders so in many cases deleting the AIPrefs/Adobe Illustrator Prefs file is not enough: the easy solution is to move the whole folder rather than trying to figure out which file(s) may be corrupted; just deleting the folder without moving it first has proved fruitless in some cases.
Therefore, the cure all consists of the following steps:
1. Close Illustrator.
2. Make a search including hidden files and folders and including subfolders for the folder holding the preference files; the name of the folder depends on the Illustrator version, and the position of the folder depends on the OS version. There is one folder for each version and for each user so it is important to find the relevant one.
Up to version 10, the name of the folder is Adobe Illustrator [X],
From version CS on, the name of the folder is Adobe Illustrator [X] Settings.
[X] is the version number; up to 10, it is just a number, and above that the Creative Suite version number, CS, CS2, CS3, CS4, and so on, is used (the corresponding standalone versions still have simple numbers, CS is called 11, CS2 is called 12, CS3 is called 13, and CS4 is called 14, but the version numbers with CS are used in the folder name).
3. Either:
a) Create a subfolder and move all the contents into it; or
b) Move the whole folder to a place where you can find it again, such as the Desktop.
With both you may recover the contents of the folder by moving it back if the issue is not solved and get your preference settings back.
a) requires creation of the subfolder, but it makes recovery easier, especially if you create a shortcut to the preference settings folder, and you can skip the search if/when corruption occurs again.
You may delete the folder/contents subsequently.
4. If you have Windows Vista, restart Windows. If not, continue to 5 without delay.
5. Restart Illustrator, and see whether the issue is solved.
If the issue is solved, and you wish to keep as many of your preference settings as possible, you may move the folder back and repeat 3) - 5) for groups/individual files/subfolders until you have found the corrupted one(s). You may also start by only moving the AIPrefs/Adobe Illustrator Prefs file.
You may also see a terse version from ADOBE: Adobe Illustrator CS4 * About preferences.

Ctrl not working with Pen Tool - Can't move shapes or paths

I have Windows 8 and Photoshop CS3. It works fine, but I accidentally must have messed something up earlier tonight, because holding down Ctrl (when using the pen tool) suddenly won't let me move shapes or paths. I work a lot with vector graphics and design so I've ALWAYS held down Ctrl after closing a path and then moved it around on the canvas. The cursor turns black when I do this. Now, it's white and tries to select nothing? If I click directly on the path, it just alters the handlebars. And the Move Tool tells me I can't select anything.
This is what it looks like when I hold down Ctrl when using the pen tool and try to move my path. I cannot select it.
Please help me, I have a project due and the only way I can move my paths or shapes now is by clicking ctrl+t and it's very annoying.

What you describe is how it works with one of the Shape Tools selected in the toolbox.
With the Pen Tool selected, one presses the Ctrl key, drags around the path to select all the points and then click and drag on one of the sides (not one of the points) to move the whole path.

SBS2008: Move email from Exchange 2007 to new server with Exchange 2013

We have an old server (SBS2008) and plan to buy a new server with (Server 2012). I need to move all the exchange emails, contacts & calendars to the new server. We will no longer use the old server.
Is there a document or migration tool that will help me understand how to move this data form the old exchange server to the new one?
Old Server:
SBS2008 running Exchange 2007
New Server:
Server 2012
Exchange 2013

It can be done, and as Larry suggested you will consider two Server 2012 installs in order to achieve an environment that looks like your current SBS roles; Exchange 2013 on an Active Directory controller isn't a good long-term solution (SBS did this for
you in the past).
For your size operation, a virtual server host, with a Windows Server 2012 license, and two virtual machines would probably be a suitable design model. In this manner, you have Server 2012 license that permits 1 +2 licenses (one host for virtualization,
up to 2 Virtual Machines on same host).
There's no migration tool. That comes with experience and usually trial and error. You earn the skills in this migration path, and for the average SBS support person you should plan on spending 3x (or more) your efforts estimate in hours planning your migration.
You can find a recommended migration path at this link to give you an idea of the steps, but its not exactly point by point going to cover you off for an sbs2008 to server 2012 w/exchange 2013 migration. But the high points are in here. If it looks
like something you would be comfortable with then you should research more.

Specific around integrating Exchange 2013 into an Exchange 2007 environment, guidance for that can be found here:

If that looks like something beyond your comfort level, then you might consider building a new 2012 server with Exchange 2013 environment out as new, manually export your exchange 2007 mailbox contents (to PST) and then import them into the new mail server,
and migrate your workstations out of old domain into new domain. Whether this is more or less work at your workstation count is dependent upon a lot of variables.

Problem with move tool? (Win 7)

On Photoshop CS4 , everytime I select the move tool and decide to move an object among a layer , it moves the object off screen , making it difficult to bring it back to the canvas to move . I know it isn't jumping layers , because only the object inside of one layer i moved , but ... am I the only one that has this problem ? How do I fix it ?
It doesn't only have this problem with the move tool , but with the text tool , marquee tools , and the brush tool , as well . The text tool would jump off screen , the marquee tool would position the marquee somewhere other than where I clicked it to be , and the brush tool would sometimes jump out of the brush outline . Can someone help ?

Have you updated your video drivers?

Have you tried turning off OpenGL in preferences?
If the answer to all is yes, try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.

You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

Cannot move file with Content & Structure feature

Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding the Content & Structure feature of SharePoint 2013.
I have people with "Design" permission level and I realized they don't have access to the action "Move" in the content
manager.
How come the button "Move" is disabled? What permissions are required to use this action?

Hi,
Please understand it is by design that the issue occurs when using the site content and structure to move items within the sites or to new location. You should have higher level permission.
This is because the site content and structure uses the Content Migration (known as PRIME) export/import methods to move content. The PRIME API requires site collection admin privileges to be utilized which is why even site owner cannot move content.

Photoshop CS5 - Image resize problem with move tool

Here's my problem
When I try to resize an layer using the move tool (as opposed to the Free Transform tool), while I'm in the process of moving the scaling handles, the bounding box reflects my movement but the layer preview stays at it's original size. When I stop moving the handles there is a few seconds delay and then the new scale size shows up. If I try to move the handles again, without commiting to the transform, the layer preview reverts back to it's original size until I've finished moving the handles.
I didn't have this problem with CS4 and I've only recently upgraded. I work around this problem by using the proper Free Transform tool (ctrl+t) but it would be nice to know why the hell this happens. It seems to me to be more of a graphical glitch than a software preference but I thought I'd check just-in-case.

Photoshop CS5 V12.1 x64
PC
Intel Xeon W3505 @2.53GHz
Nvidia Quadro FX580
12 GB RAM

I also read you you tried updating your video dirvers and your syste crashed and you had to roll back. Make sure you have downloaded the latest correct drivers. If that does not work try turning off Open GL in photoshops preferences.
On my old XP 32 bit system CS5 movet tool with transform dialog does not fail like on your system. I can move the handles time and time again without commiting the transform. The only way to have Photoshop revert the transform back to the original state is to press the ESC key to cancel the uncommitted transform.

Why can't I select and move guides with selection tools?

I'm using Illustrator CC and I cannot select and move guides with the selection tools. The guides are not locked. I can select the guides in the Layers Panel, but I can only move with the arrow keys. I can also "Release" the guides once they are selected in the Layers Panel, but I still cannot move them with the mouse - only the arrow key.
Summary of Problem:
Guides are not locked.
Some guides can only be moved when they are selected in the Layer Panels and when using the arrow keys
Non-selectable Guides can be "Released" but only altered in color and line weight and still only moved with the arrow keys.
Desired Outcome:
I want to be able to move all guides using the mouse for greater accuracy vs the arrow keys.

The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.
