Cannot navigate to some folders when attempting to attach .MDF files to database in Management Studio

Hello,
I have Windows 7 ultimate, SP1 and login to a SBS2003 R2 domain as administrator.
I use SQL Server Management Studio 10.50.2500.0 to connect to a local instance of SQL Server 2008 R2 using Windows Authentication.
When I attempt to attach a database .MDF file that is not in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\DATA folder, the Locate Database Files dialog box will not allow me to navigate to other folders to find databases.
It does not give an error, it simply does not open the selected folder.
How do I allow the Locate Database Files dialog box to navigate to other folders to locate other .MDF files?
Any help would be grate fully appreciated.
Thanks,
Tony

Hello Naomi.
I’m not sure of what you mean by “the rights”, but I can see all folders and files on all machines when using Windows Explorer.  I cannot navigate to them through the Locate Database Files
dialog box.
Also, this has nothing to do with the server.  This issue involves my local computer.
Thanks,
Tony
Additionally, your question came to me as an email from

    The same thing happened to me and I accidentaly found a solution. It is not the best solution but at least it works. Try to write your email and attach your file offline, then connect your modem and send your email. This worked fine for me.

    I get the 'Generic Error' when attempting to import .mov files with transparency? I'm trying to use mattes with an alpha channel but I cannot import them. I have had this same issue since cs6, now I have it with cc 2014? Any clues would be most appreciated.
    I have uninstalled the DVCPro Codec, but it didn't help.
    I have tried converting the .mov file (which is now automatic in Yosemite) and this creates a ProRes4444 Codec, Again no luck with import.
    I've seen this issue on the web, but never a solution? Anyone?

    Hi Terence,
    I tried iPhoto Library Manager but it could not solve my problem. Opening the iPhoto library I can see that the reference to the pictures are pointing to my old location not to the new one. I considered running a script that would change all pointers since this is basically what is needed (in my case from /Volumes/RAID1/Fotos/XXX to /Volumes/Fotos/XXX). Instead I inserted a soft unix link to make to connection but that did not work. It is referring to the airport disk by the airport name rather than the mounted disk name. Very strange indeed. The problem is maybe not in iPhoto but in OSX? Anyway, maybe the only way out is to take some hours and manually run through all linked photos... cumbersome and annoying!

    Hi Cody
    Sorry to hear about your difficulties.
    It should be very uncommon for Pages to crash. I've been using it for years on a daily basis and it's only happened to me once except when I was trying to replicate a bug for someone.
    Your experience might be a symptom of an underlying problem with your system. I recommend that you back all your stuff up now.
    Whilst trying to isolate the issue, I recommend that you manually create frequent backups of your documents using the Finder after a successful save until you can trust it.
    Next, use disk utility to do a repair permissions on your hard drive.
    Also, after quitting Pages, try trashing your ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWorks.Pages.plist file (back it up first if you want) and restarting Pages.
    If this doesn't work, there are loads of troubleshooting tips here: http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/faqs.html. I also recommend that you read the tips on system maintenance.
    In case you didn't already know this, Pages files are actually packages. Control-click on the icon and select Show Package Contents to see what's inside. You may be able to recover some text from the files in there. I don't believe there are any repair utilities. Nor is the file format available.
    I hope this helps you.

    Linc,
    I didnt get back with you this week as we've discovered a number of other "interesting" issues with the iMac. They all seem to (possibly) be related to privilege issues: 1. Cannot move photos to ~Library/Desktop Pictures, 2. Cannot access System Preferences/Security&Privacy (click on the lock to make a change and the User Name and Password "Unlock" window will not appear.) 3. When attempting to install the MS Office For Mac update, the installer will not respond. 4. Cannot boot from an external drive. Problems converting PDF to MS Word document.  I successfully converted 4 files and now subsequent files generate a "conversion failure" error when attempting to convert the file.  I have a large manuscript and I separated each chapter to assist with the conversion; like I said, first 4 parts no problem, then conversion failure.  I attempted to convert the entire document and same result.  I specifically purchased the export to Word feature.  Please assist.  I initially had to export the Word Perfect document into PDF and attempting to go from PDF to MS Word.

    Hi sdr2014,
    I'm sorry to hear your conversion process has stalled. It sounds as though the problem isn't specific to one file, as you've been unable to convert anything since the first four chapters converted successfully.
    So, let's try this:
    If you're converting via the ExportPDF website, please log out, clear the browser cache, and then log back in. If you're using Reader, please choose Help > Check for Updates to make sure that you have the most current version installed.
    Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara

  • CName Error When Trying to Attach Particular File

    I am using custom buttons to attach, view and remove attachment files to my LiveCycle form. Most files attach without any problem. I have a particular file named, "RECN-TrackingLog.xlsm" that I receive the following error when trying to attach this file to the form. If I copy the file to my desktop, it attaches to the form without any problem. It is named exactly the same. Any idea what is causing this error? I have included the script for the "Attach" button below.
    var myDoc = event.target;
    var sFile = "myFile"+Math.round(Math.random()*10000000000000);//Randomly generated number
    myDoc.importDataObject({cName: sFile});
    var myDataObject = myDoc.getDataObject(sFile);
    var sFileName = myDataObject.path;
    ListBox1.addItem(sFileName,sFile);
    NumericField1.rawValue = NumericField1.rawValue + 1;

    This error turned out to be caused because someone else had that networked file open at the time I was trying to attach the file. That's why when I dragged and dropped a copy onto my desktop, that "version" of the file was not open and would attach without any problem.

  • Some prolems when trying to create Jar file...

    Hi,
    1st sorry i post this in the wrong box, i posted it in the Jar box but no body replied and I really need to get this done soon...
    I've got a list of *.class and a folder images and Start is the class I want to be the entry point
    I tried:
    1. jar cfm MyApp.jar Manifest.txt *.class images
    In Manifest.txt has a line: Main-Class: Start
    the jar file is created, but when I tried to run (both double click and command line) this gives me an error "Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from..."
    2. jar cmf MyApp.jar Manifest.txt *.class images
    this has error while making the jar file, it gives "java.io.FileNotFoundException: MyApp.jar (The system cannot find the file specified)...
    3. I tried the 1st method, then unzip the jar file, edit the manifest.mf file by adding a line Main-Class: Start. Then zip it, rename it to MyApp.jar
    And a weird thing happens... When I place the jar file IN THE SAME FOLDER with other class files, it runs fine. But when I move it to A DIFFERENT FOLDER with other class files, it runs with dimension 0x0, i.e. only the title bar is displayed...
    I've tried those method and none of them work... can some one tell me what I have done wrong?
    Thanks...

    This is the class used to get the ImageIcon for the JLabel
    public class CardGUI extends JPanel {
         private ImageIcon tmp;
         private final int CARDWIDTH = 50; //Card width is 50
         //return the Card GUI
         public ImageIcon getCardGUI (int kind, char suit) {
              //This String is used to locate the file (*.png)
              //of each Card
              //E.g. Card 2 Club will has file "images/cards/2c.png"
              String imgStr = "images/cards/" + kind + suit + ".png";
              tmp = new ImageIcon(imgStr);
              //If the card is not found, return the back of the Card
              if (tmp.getIconWidth()!= CARDWIDTH) {
                   tmp = new ImageIcon("images/cards/back.png");
              return tmp;
    }Then the JLabel used this to set the image, where humanCard1 is an instance of JLabel, and cardLabel is instance of the above class.
    humanCard1.setIcon(cardLabel.getCardGUI(card10.getKind(), card10.getSuit()));
    > new ImageIcon("images/mainbackground.jpg")Wrong. Because there are any more no files in a jar archive. Only file is the jar file itself, and nothing else.
    What do u mean? When I create the jar file, i include the images folder inside the jar file already?
    I've been using the Swing forum and that's how I know the 2 methods above for setting image for JLabel and JPanel... So what should i be searching for in the Swing forum now?

    I want to attach a file to a new message. When I attach it via the button in het message-screen a finder screen will open. The files in here are not up to date. For example, a just added file is not visible. When I brouwse to the same folder by using the Finder itself at this time I will see the up-to-date files and can add them to the message by using drag and drop. So, I have found a solution but I still think this is a bug.
