Cannot open ACR preferences in bridge

I get the 'qualifying product' error.  I have updated it to the latest ACR, opened PS4 first, and luanched bridge from there...all with no luck.
Is tehre a dead link somewhere that needs to be fixed?  ACR is in the right folder and everything.
I have tried everything i can find online and here in the forums.  Any other ideas?

Hello, and welcome to the forum, Ludwig.
It seems that you missed both the readme ( http://www.adobe.com/special/photoshop/camera_raw/Camera_Raw_5.3_ReadMe.pdf ), or the detailed instructions on the bottom on the very page where you downloaded the update: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4365
The correct location is: Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats . You will need to remove the other copy from the Photoshop tree.
Please post this information on the other forums where you also saw unresponded questions on the same topic, so that you can help others!

Cannot open ACR in bridge. But im able to in photoshop using mini bridge only. keep getting a prompt saying "Bridge requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature. Running windows 7 64bit. never had this issue with CS5. Can someone help?

This is a workaround rather than a cure............................. for cs5 users............
If you are unable to open .jpg files in adobe Camera RAW from Bridge and the Preferences have been set correctly in Photoshop Preferences, and all avenues have been exhausted or you are getting the error message in Bridge when you right click, or  ctrl + r, or go to the ‘Open in Camera RAW’ button at the top of Bridge  and also Getting the error message :
‘Camera Raw Editing Is not Enabled, Camera Raw Editing Requires that a Qualifying Product has been Launched at least once to Enable this Feature’
And Bridge does open up RAW files OK
    Try this
    1.        In bridge, hit the ctrl + Alt key together and double click the .JPG image, this should open in Camera RAW (but only the one image clicked, not multiple files.
    or
    2.    Open Photoshop
    Go to File.....
    Browse in MIniBridge.........
    Browse for folder containing images..............
Find image, right click and open in camera RAW
(if you wish to open multiple files,  when a number of images have been selected,  the Camera Raw menu disappears when you right click), however, hold down the Alt + Crtl key together (Windows) and double click any of the highlighted images, they will all open in Camera RAW as they should do.

  • Can't Open ACR files from Bridge in Photoshop CC 2014

I Can't Open ACR files from Bridge in Photoshop CC 2014.  I have uninstalled the programs, and all other versions of PS several times, but no matter what I do, I can't open a raw file I have opened in Bridge, in PS CC 2014. I have to click Open in Photoshop CC 2014 in Bridge.
Also, on my workstation PC (Win 7 64bit), if I don't open PS prior to opening Bridge, then when I try to open a file from bridge it says it can't run PS on an earlier Operating system than Win 7!
I have done exactly the same instalation on my notebook, same OS, and everything works perfectly - I just don't understand.

Guys! This question was asked almost two months ago, and still no-one has replied? I'm still stuck, no matter what I have tried, I cannot find a solution. And please don't ask me to re-install AGAIN, I've done this several times and it simply does not work.

  • Update 10.5.7 "You cannot open Sharing preferences because it doesn't work"

    Please help,
After installing the 10.5.7 update, I can not access my sharing settings in System Preferences. It says "You cannot open Sharing preferences because it doesn't work on an Intel-based Mac."
    Any Ideas?

Install the combo updater. Somehow, the Intel slice of the binary got stripped out on your machine (and/or the binary patching failed in a way that corrupted the relevant part of the Mach-O header). Don't ask me how that would happen, but apparently, it did.

  • Cannot open network preferences, security, or downloads; blue screen appears

I have recently discovered that I cannot open my network preferences, security, or downloads folder. I do not know what else I am unable to open. For these three, I click upon them and instantly a blue screen appears, quickly followed by my desktop with all programs (except Finder) shut down, as if I was just logging on. The MacBook Pro is not yet a year old. I have recently downloaded the Amazon Cloud and was wondering if this could be causing the spastic behavior. My boyfriend seems to think that it is a corrupt file. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem? Thank you.

  • "cannot open dialog preferences/ song settings"?

Hi I hope you can help because I am getting desparate.
I installed Logic Studio V.8.1 on my Imac (lots of ram, 1 year operating with no problems). I have had no trouble until the other day when I started to get the message "cannot open dialog window/preferences" or "song settings" and whenever I try to adjust any or most menu items with "....." after them. The bounce adjustments do not open either, and the core audio does not kick in on startup, the audio coming through the computer speakers. I eliminated and reinstalled Studio and it worked okay for awhile and then went haywire again. By the way I eliminated Logic 7.
Are you aware of what could be the problem? I don´t see anything in the forums. Should I eliminate everything and reinstall 7 and 8 with the Key?
    Thanks for your help

  • Cannot open certain preferences after strange boot

I turned on my mid-2007 macbook, os 10.6.4, today and it had a grey loading bar on the boot screen which I have never (or don't remember) encountered in the three years that I've owned this. After the computer finally turned on, I noticed that my bluetooth icon in the menu bar had disappeared. I tried to open bluetooth preferences but I got "Could not open bluetooth preference pane."
I repaired disc permissions and restarted. I get the same error. I tried "resetting the SMC" and I get the same error. I tried deleting the com.apple.bluetooth.plist and restarting and I get the same error.
I noticed that other people with this problem were missing other preference panes so I checked and my keyboard, mouse, trackpad, network, and sharing panes "cannot be opened." Help?

Oh, and that progress bar on startup is put up when the system runs fsck (file system consistency check) This program is needed (most commonly) when you crash hard and it doesn't properly close out of the disk caching system, and this is the program which will (usually successfully) fix up the problems. fsck is the program that gets run when you run Disk Utility verify/repair disk. It's actually pretty rare that any real files which are actually important get damaged, so, either this is your (un)lucky day, or...
...your disk is starting to die. It's a good idea to be hyper-vigilent and obsessive-compulsive about backups for the next couple of weeks. If it doesn't happen again, then you can chalk it up to "just one of those things." Or you may realize that it always/only happens when you do something or run some particular program. Or you will have accelerating problems, and you should buy a replacement disk and do a swap.

  • I cannot open finder preferences

    Hi There,
I am trying to empty my trash and I noticed that it was taking a very long time (hours and it still has not removed the files). I did a search for some suggestions and the one that kept coming up was to look at the "Empty Trash Securely" option in Finder Preferences. However, when I go to finder preferences, the first time I select  Finder -> Preferences nothing happens and the second time I get a window that opens, but is blank (below). I have tried restarting finder and restarting the computer and I still have the same problem. So now I cannot empty the trash nor can I open Finder Preferences. I am using a iMac2011 with OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.
Does anyone have any ideas about fixing one or both of these issues?
    Thanks

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • ICloud and Internet accounts pref tab cannot open in Preferences

When I try to access accounts in e.g. Mail, Contacts, etc. and through Preferences, I cannot open the iCloud or Internet accounts tab - it says that the "installation window cannot be read"(poorly translated from Danish) - I have seen other discussions about this but I haven't found a solution. Any suggestions?

  • I cannot open mail preferences.  anytime i go to mail preferences mail crashes

anytime i open mail preferences the mail program crashes.  i have reinstalled mountain lion and this did not solve the issue.  I am looking for any solutions other than erasing my entire computer

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Cannot open DNG files via Bridge or Lightroom in Photoshop?

I have a problem that has popped up since I installed the 5.6 RAW upgrade to my CS4/Lightroom 2.2 package.  Hopefully someone would be kind enough to help me diagnose it, as it affects only about 85,000 raw files currently in my Lightroom Catalogue.
The files were originally shot using a Canon professional camera in their proprietary RAW format, CR2. This conversion occurred upon input into Lightroom while at the same time the original CR2 files discarded (as I am not the son of a Hard Drive Manufacture!).  After the installation of the recent DNG/RAW converter upgrade I first noticed that the dng files would not display in Bridge even if I rebuild the cache, however, if I downloaded a Canon CR2 file they displayed without a problem.  This condition Bridge; Lightroom continued to display both types of RAW files correctly, however the dng file now had a small triangle with an explanation symbol inside it on the top right of the thumbnail preview indicating that “Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo, while there was no associated problem with the canon CR2 file.  The message 'You will not be able to make adjustments to this photo” was associated with the triangle icon.  Quite discerning, considering this has occurred to all 18,000 previously imported and rendered dng previews.
I then tried to import the files into Camera RAW using the ‘right-click technique’ in Bridge on the dng file symbols representing the thumbnails that would be there if I did not have this problem.  When I right clicked and selected ‘Open in Camera Raw’ there is no response what so ever.  If I drag the dng symbol to the Photoshop desktop it results in the following error message “Could not complete your request because of a program error.”  Either way there is no getting the dng file into Photoshop.
I have attempted the following fixes:
    1.       Clean reinstall of CS4 (saving preferences)
    2.       Clean update of Camera RAW 5.5
Does anyone out there have any solutions, recommendations, work-around or suggestions for this situation?  Is it a problem with a conversion of the metadata? The file structure itself?  Can it be fixed? At this juncture I am out of Tums’s, that nasty tasting pink stuff in the bathroom and am headed for the pharmacy for something stronger.
I would appreciate any help at all.

I know it does help find a solution, but I have run across some older DNG's that will open in LR 2 but will not open in Bridge/CSR 4. (These are DNG's created by Scott Kelby for his LR 2 book - I have attached on to this post.)  I can open them first in LR and then tell LR to edit the image in Photoshop and it will open. I have not yet had the issue of LR not being able to open the DNG correctly. However, I may not have done a DNG conversion since I installed the 5.6 upgrade. When I get a chance I will go convert some CR2 files and see what happens.
    Mike
I have uploaded one of Kelby's dng's that will not open in my desktop nor laptop Bridge/CSR 4 w/all updates. DNG 5.6 is unable to process them as well. It will import into LR. Other than that I cannot cause DNG's not to load into Bridge/CSR.
Opps the file is too big. You can download it from here. Kelby's Technical Copy Editor told me she did not have the same problem. Weird. I hope you solve your problem.

  • Cannot Accessing ACR in CS6 Bridge

Open Bridge, click on ACR, dialog box give following message: Bridge's application is not active; Bridge requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature.  Does anyone have a solution?

I have done that, but it still does not find folders. Specifically, let's say folders within folders. I mentioned that I can find places, such as desktop, but it won't find 'folders' on my desktop. Just indivdual files. Here is a screen shot of what I mean. On my desk top, I happen to have a folder of assets, but it is not finding it when I have 'desk top' highlighted in the navigation. This is a problem that there seems to be now answer for.

  • Cannot open Camera Raw in Bridge with 5D Mark II files

Just bought a Canon 5D Mark II and Adobe Photoshop CS4 - no experience with Adobe so far. Neither Photoshop nor Bridge opened raw files initially.
After copying Camera Raw 5.3 manually into the (Windows) Photoshop "File format" I can now open RAW files in Photoshop (the automatic Adobe update program reported errors at installation and did not work) but NOT in Bridge. Maybe the 5.3 plug-in needs to be placed elsewhere - anyhelp on that for windows application would be great.
When opening my raw files in Bridge, the automatic DNG conversion did also not work.
My issue is that I don't know how to see and work on raw images in Bridge with the Bridge command "File/open in camera raw"  also not working. I was reading about the same issue in another forums and also in this space but after hours of trial and error and testing all the published wisdom I got stuck now. I am very keen to learn from the experts. Thanks in advance for support.
