Cannot open Acrobat 9.0 if RoboHelp 7 is open

If I am running RoboHelp 7 and I attempt to start Acrobat 9.0, Acrobat does not open. The same problem occurs if I'm running RoboHelp 7 and click a PDF to try to open it. Nothing happens. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there a solution?

Did you download, install, and run the Windows Install Cleanup Utility to remove Acrobat? I assume that is NOT what you say in the "Windows Installer Cleanup script?"

  • Can't open Acrobat Pro 9 with Photoshop cs5 open

For some reason I can't open pdf files or even the Acrobat application while photoshop cs5 is open.  As soon as I shut it down I can open the file no problems.  I'm assuming it has something to do with how much memory photoshop is using, but I've never had this problem before with any previous versions.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

I've noticed two ways it misfunctions
    1) Photoshop is open
    2) I try to open acrobat by either using the quick launch icon that has always worked in the past, or by opening a pdf file either in a folder or as a link on the web.  It will not open and offers no error message.  It merely 'dings' at me like when you try to click on something in a doc when you've got another window open and u need to press ok or cancel before you can do anything else.
    or
    1) I've already got acrobat open
    2) I open photoshop ok
    3) I go back to acrobat and try to do something like print and the program crashes and shuts down... no error message.
Opening at the original exe doesn't change anything.  Acrobat works fine when photoshop isn't open.

    Hi,
    We are using
    mAVDoc = new Acrobat.AcroAVDocClass();

Also note that this was working fine with Adobe 7.  Can you please help me with this

  • Installed Acrobat Pro 9 - requires password to open any PDF & botches InDesign exports to PDF

Installed CS4 on my new Mac, using the downloaded installation file. Everything works except Acrobat. I uninstalled Acrobat & reinstalled it. Same problems remain:
1a. Everytime I open a PDF, I get this message:  "Adobe Acrobat Pro wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this." I have to enter the username & password for my computer to open every PDF. Then they open correctly.
1b. If I open Acrobat from the Applications folder, without opening a file, I get the same message & must enter username & password to open Acrobat.
    2. From InDesign, I export PDFs using File > Export. The PDFs have little rectangles for about half the text in the entire document. I routinely export both hi-res (Print Quality) and lo-res (Smallest File Size) PDFs in InDesign & this happens with all of them.
Most of the work I do results in PDFs. None of them have password protection or other security. I don't see anything in Preferences that looks like it would relate to these issues. Help, please!

Go the the Applications -> Utilities folder. In there you will find the Disk Utility app. When you run that application, you can select your hard drive. Then click on the Fix Permssions button.

  • Opening Acrobat Pro Opens ALL PDFS

I have a real glitch. When I open Acrobat Pro for some reason it opens all of my pdfs... I mean all, every PDF I have opens in the past on my computer opens, and I have to force quit. Any help?

This is a real bug...many folks on both Windows and Mac sides are experiencing it...I'm surprised Adobe hasn't patched it yet. Something is launching everything in your History cache.
The only solution I've had success with is to
NOT force quit it (it'll just do it again the next time you launch),
let it open all of the windows,
option-click close on the last window opened,
    quit Acrobat,
    then restart it.
It hasn't happened in a few months since we let it "run its course."

  • When I try opening Acrobat I get a fatal error which says "Failed to send a DDE command"

I need help with opening Acrobat (trial version) It won't open, I get the above message.  Any help please?

    Hi house in valle,
Try downloading the latest update for Acrobat from Adobe - Acrobat : For Windows and install and check if you are able to launch Acrobat.
If the problem persists, go to Control Panel> Programs> Select 'Acrobat' and click on 'Change'. Repair Acrobat installation.
The last resource would be uninstall the Adobe Acrobat XI, run Acrobat Cleaner (get it from http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html), and reinstall it.

  • Cannot open acrobat 8

I have loaded acrobat 8 from adobe suite 3 and it is opening but after 5-10 seconds a error saying 'Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time. You must launch one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 8 Professional.' I have also opened photoshop and it is opening nicely and i have tried to open acrobat 8 after opening photoshop but the problem is same. Help me on this. Thanks in advance.

Not sure. This is an activation issue as I recall, but there are some strange things that happen with the Creative Suite that appears to be what you have. Some of the others that have had the problem will hopefully be by. In the meantime, do a search of the forum for CS or such.

It sounds like an issue of trying to run XI on VISTA. That combination does not work. Info on both the Acrobat full version (including sub-version) and OS would help. It might also be an issue of running 11.0.0 on a system that needs the updates to work.

  • Cannot open Acrobat 6 Pro after opening Reader 8 and viceversa

There is a compatibility issue between Acrord32.exe and Acrobat.exe files?
My Acrobat 6 Professional does not open while viewing a PDF in Reader 8, get a empty Reader 8 window instead of Acrobat 6.
When trying the opposite, the Reader 8 shows the following error message:
"The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again."
Operating system is Windows XP Professional and browser is Internet Explorer 7.

Reader leaves a resident part running, even after you close it. To open Acrobat, you must first shut down the resident part from the task list.

  • Cannot open Acrobat Reader X (10.1.0)

Everytime I attempt to open Acrobat Reader on my PC, I get the Windows Error box asking if I want to tell Microsoft about the problem.  This has only started happening since installing Reader X (10.1.0).
I have attempted to repair the installation.
I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall.
I have verified the registry was cleaned.
I am running Windows XP SP3.
Any help would be appreciated.  In the meantime, I am looking for an installation package for Acrobat Reader 9.

Can you post a screenshot of the crash dialog that you see? Also, is there anything specific about your system - virus scanner, accessibility tool that you use, etc?
You can download older versions of Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/

  • Cannot open Acrobat XI due to error 213:5

I have followed the directions at the website for checking permissions on two Adobe folders
and these are set up correctly.
I have downloaded the 3 updates for Acrobat XI
I have rebooted 3 time and still cannot access Acrobat XI
    I am on Mac 10.7
    Now what?

    Hi,
This could be because of permission issues.
Can you please navigate to the location : --
    [Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore
    Rename the Folder -- "SLStore"
and Relaunch the Acrobat and see if that works.
Although this is a different error, but you can try the patch for fixing licensing shared here -- http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/error-213-19-licensing-acrobat.html

  • Cannot open Acrobat

Within a web browser, I can access PDFs and open them, but to try and open Acrobat nothing comes up. It just sits on my bottom bar. Task Manager says it's running, but I can't interact with it apart from closing it down. I updated to 10 to try and fix the issue without success. Any help with this would be great, as it greatly hinders my ability to check my work once saved.
I run Windows 7 on a Samsung laptop. I can provide specifics if necessary.
Oh, I should mention. Up until sometime this summer (when I wasn't using it, of course), Acrobat opened fine. Apoligies if this was posted to the wrong section; I guessed.

    Hi KrisleyAshten,
Please let us know is this Adobe reader that you are experiencing problem with or it is Adobe professional.
What is the exact version that is currently installed on the machine. Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall.

  • Open project was canceled or RoboHelp was unable to load database

I have Robohelp 2002r2 and am creating Robohelp HTML help.
The project was ok yesterday but today when I try to open it I get
the error message "Open project was canceled or RoboHelp was unable
to load database". I tried the solutions in the knowledgebase
(rb_3245) but still no luck. I can't even create a new project
either or I get the same message. Anybody know what to
    do????

    Welcome to the forum.
The message is usually easily dealt with. I haven't checked
the article as you didn't include a link but I'm guessing it
involved deleting a couple of files and then using the HHP file to
    open the project.
What is more worrying is that you cannot create a new
    project.
Have you tried opening one of the supplied sample files?
Are your projects stored locally and not on a network?
Have IT given you a new profile to log on with?
Has anything else changed in your environment?

  • Project Error: Open project was canceled or RoboHelp was unable to load database

    Hi,
I checked an HTMLHelp project out of SourceOff Site (SOS),
then attempted to open it locally with RoboHelp 5 when I got the
error message: "Open project was cancelled or RoboHelp was unable
    to load database."
I found the TechNote for this error message (rb_3245) which
said to delete the .xpj and .cpd files, then right-click the HHP
file and click Edit to open the project. This worked fine for
opening the project, however the Primary Layout Source defaulted to
WebHelp. I reset the Primary Layout Source to HTMLHelp which caused
all of the graphics in the project to not display. I fixed this
issue, compiled the Help, and all appeared to be fixed. I checked
the project back into SOS to back it up. This morning, I checked it
out of SOS and tried to open the project locally again, only to get
the same error. I closed the project, undid the check-out, and
asked another writer to check-out the project then open it locally
to see if he got the same error. He did not get the error.
I am not sure what could be wrong on my computer that is
causing this error. I had no problems opening and using this
project until yesterday and I made no file name or path changes to
the project. Any ideas on what may be wrong?
