Cannot open .acsm files in Digital Editions 1.7.1.1085

i have downloaded an ebook in .acsm file but cannot open it in the latest version of Digital Editions.
.acsm files are correctly associated with Digital Editions on my system (i'm running Visa)
when i try to add items to the library, the only allowed extensions are .pdf and .epub.
hope someone can help

Thank you for your answer, but I forgot to say that yesterday I also tried to download a file from your free library. Actually, I needed to be sure the problem didn't come
from my pc or from the ebookstore I bought the epub files from, anyway, when trying to open files I got the same window with the same message. I don't think
files on your library are expired ones too.
I selected France as region and  French as language, but I live in a french territory in the South Pacific, may this fact be a problem for reading epub files?
Is there any legal way to convert these urlinkascm files into pdf ones?
Thanks

  • Unable to open .ACSM file in Digital Editions on intel Mac OS X

I am on an intel based Mac running OS X and have recently purchased an eBook for Digital Editions.  I had previously purchased a Digital Editions format eBook and had no problems with it, and am currently able to view it in Digital Editions.  I have downloaded the .ACSM file for my new eBook, however, when I attempt to assign the file to open with Digital Editions, the Digital Editions program window opens, but no activity concerning my new eBook occurs, and all that is listed is my previously purchased eBook.  I have also attempted dragging the .ACSM file directly to the Digital Editions program window, as I have heard that this works on occasion, but still nothing.  I have only ever installed DE version 1.7.1 and have no previous editions that would need to be uninstalled.  Any ideas?

how do i open acsm file on my windows pc? i downloaded adobe digital edition, but it says error, check valuation?
    thanks in advance

I'm wondering if that is similar to the issue I've encountered before, where the file association for acsm is not to ADE but a certificate file. If you could try right clicking on the acsm and 'open with' and search for ADE and make sure 'always open with this' is check marked, that may, I repeat may, help.
If you've already done this, I don't know what to say, that's just what I've seen.

  • ITunes is somehow the default opening acsm files instead of digital editions

So, I am trying to borrow eBooks from the library and download them into Adobe Digital Editions and then transfer them to my Kobo, but it is not so simple. I can download the acsm file, but when I double-click to open it, it tries to open in iTunes instead of Adobe Digital Editions. I can then go to my downloads folder, right-click on it and "open with.." Digital Editions. Is there a way to change this default? On my father's MacBook Air (I have a MacBook Pro), when you double click on the download it automatically opens in Digital Editions. I just want it to work this way on my computer!
Also, I am having issues transferring from Digital Editions to my Kobo - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't - and I can't figure out why. Any thoughts?

    Mac OS X: Double-Clicking a File Opens the Wrong Application - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2291
=Changing the application used to open all files of a certain kind=
    1) In a Finder window highlight a file of the kind you want to change the application to open that kind of file.
    2) While that file is highlighted, select File > Get Info or press command (apple or propeller icon) + i to get a file information window.
    3) In the lower part of the info window there is an "open with" menu with a list of applications.
    4) If your application is already in the box then it is the default application for opening that kind of file and you don't need to do anything more.  Close the get info window.
    5) If the application showing in the menu is not the one with which you wish to open the file then select a new application. If your application does not appear there then select the "other..." and track down the application (usually in the Applications folder at the main level of the computer).
    6) If you wish to change all files of this type to open with this application in future, make sure the "change all" button is selected.
    7) Close the get info window.

  • Using digital editions 2.0, I cannot transfer books downloaded to digital editions from library to my nook.  Error message: failed to write destination file.

Using digital editions 2.0, I cannot transfer books downloaded to digital editions from the library to my nook.  I get an error message: failed to write destination file. At first, this happened once in a while but now every time. Help!!!

Modern kobo books should just use regular Adobe DRM and be readable on compatible ereaders that are authorized to the correct Adobe ID.
I understand older kobo book had different DRM: but I wouldn't expect those to
When Adobe DRM book information say 'no copying', that generally means no copying outside those Adobe DRM limitations.
You should be able to copy within the restrictions.  You can double-check that with the sellers (Kobo).
    Just double-checking
the pocket book is Adobe DRM compatible?
that you have authorized your pocket book with your current Adobe ID?
menu/Help/Authorize Device when plugged into ADE:  Library/Authorize Device if using the older more reliable ADE 1.7.2
If the pocket book is already authorized but to a different ID, you will need to deauthorize it first, ctrl-shift-E to ADE with device plugged in (or cmd-shift-E on Mac).
Be aware that will lose the ability to read DRM books authorized with the previous ID.

  • How do I change the default program that opens .acsm files?

I am borrowing library eBooks to read on my Sony Reader.  I want to ensure that Adobe Digital Editions is the default program to open .acsm files, but am not sure how to do that.  Thanks for the help!

Right (control) click on the .acsm file > select Open With > then select Adobe Digital Editions.
Likewise you can select all of files in a folder with Edit > Select All > then Get Info and set them all to Open with: Adobe Digital Editions or whatever.

  • Cannot open .avi files imported from Nikon d90 in Adobe Premiere 6.0.

Cannot open .avi files imported from Nikon d90 in Adobe Premiere 6.0.
When I try to open the file I get the following error message:
    "cannot open that file
the file uses an unsupported file compression format"
I really need urgent help with this so if you know a soloution, please post it!

I don't do mjpeg so you will have to search the forum for advice
But... having a playback codec installed does not ALWAYS mean the codec will work for Premiere editing
After you search the forum and find the (I think free) codec vendors, you will need to install fresh so Premiere will "see" the codec for editing
    Or, Google
    convert mjpeg avi
To convert to DV AVI type 2 with 48khz sound so the files will "natively" edit in Premiere
My GUESS (you didn't say) is the d90 is a STILL camera that has a video function, not a true camcorder
If you plan to do much video work, you need a tape-based DV camcorder so you use Firewire to do a digital transfer as a "real" AVI that Premiere may edit without conversion or extra software
For a Firewire DV Camera - look at Panasonic PV-GS320 or GS500 (Note that I have not used either, but they have good reviews)

  • Unable to open .acsm files

I've just upgraded to ADE 2.0 and can no longer open .acsm files.  I've tried to associate ADE 2.0 to .acsm files via Windows 7 control panel and 'open with' but when I click ok, nothing happens - no error message but no acceptance of the association

E_ADEPT_REQUEST_EXPIRED could mean that a library loan has expired.
It can also happen if you get times or times-zones wrong.
There are quite a few bugs introduced in V2.0 that were not there in v1.7.2.
If you don't need the new features of V2.0, you might find an install of 1.7.2.
You can have both installed at once.
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

  • Cannot open indd file in either CS5 or CS5.5

I downloaded CS5.5 on my laptop this afternoon. I then opened a CS5 file, worked on it, then saved. Now I cannot open the file in either CS5 or CS5.5. Is says InDEsign may not support the file format, the file is missing, or it is opened in anaother application. Does anyone know how I can open this file?

    Just to be clear:
It won't open in either version. I created the file in CS5 (school computer lab), worked on it in CS5.5 (on my personal laptop connected through the server), then tried to open it on a school coputer using CS5. The file will not open.
Once you edit a CS5 file in CS5.5, it becomes a CS5.5 file and you will not be able to open it in CS5.
Make sure you are running the version you think you are, and don't double-click the file, but actually use File > Open from within InDesign CS5.5.

Cannot open PDF files with Reader XI message appears Adobe Reader has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working

  • Cannot open pmd files in InDesign CS

I recently find I cannot open PM7 (pmd) files in InDesign CS. I used to be able to do this (they would open as Untitled), but now I just get an error message to the effect that InDesign cannot open this file, either because it does not support the file format, it is open in another application, or a plug-in for converting it is not installed. None of these things is true as far as I know. I can't place the pmd files into InDesign either, and I think I used to be able to do that too. I have tried repairing/reinstalling the Indesign program files but this makes no difference. Any suggestions would be welcome, otherwise I am going to have to use Pagemaker for new editions into the indefinite future!
    Many thanks,
    Tom Johnstone.

That's very generous of you to offer to convert the files, Peter, many thanks, but I have a whole lot I need to do and I wouldn't want you to have to devote hours to it! Somebody else in the office here might be able to help with the immediate problem. I still have Pagemaker and if really necessary I can output the files for my new edition from Pagemaker. However I have many years of publications stored as pmd and p65 files and I was hoping when they came up for revision or new editions to be able to convert them to InDesign. If this is not possible because of Windows upgrades it will be a real pain in the neck, to put it politely!
    Tom.

  • Cannot open PDF files on internet with Acrobat 7.0

I use Acrobat 7.0 to make and read my PDF files.  Also have reader 9.0 installed.  Today internet explorer 9 stopped reading pdf files on the internet.  Tried selecting both Acrobat 7.0 and Reader 9.0 but neither work.  Only get the cannot open the file message.  Tried three different sites to try different PDF files.  Suggestions???

Only for reading files there are some other (newer but small) viewing tools. remember that.
Also I wouldn't use the in-browser function of any tool you use. It's not necessary.
The file will be also downloaded to your machine, there is no on the fly reading or anything else you expect.
so why will you waste screen size caused by the second menu bar.
Set your browser to open .pdf files outside, so you get more control where files are saved and you get a better screen size.
In my opinion in-browser-pdf is senseless, just a confusing gimmick.

  • Cannot open RAW file with new camera

I just purchased a Nikon D610 that I use to shoot RAW files. When I inserted the SDHC card in my Mac, I got a message that "Photoshop cannot open this file. If you are attempting to open a raw file from a digital camera, make sure you have the latest Camera Raw update installed via Help>Updates..." This is the first time I've had this problem. With my former Nikon D600, the RAW files opened right away with no problems. I installed Adobe Camera Raw 6.7 and DNG Convertor 8.6, but it still doesn't work.

I've got some good news and some bad news.
The bad news is the D610 is supported in Camera Raw but you need a minimum of version 8.3 for it to work out-of-the-box. I know CC works with updates; I believe CS6 does too w/ updates. If you have anything earlier than that you need to upgrade.
The good news is that the D610 is supported in DNG Converter since version 8.3 but I don't know why it's not working for you. What's happening when you go to convert? Same error message?
