Cannot open Adobe Files in Chrome

I am having to go through a two step process to open PDF and other prepared files for my website. http://www.justiceislovely.com
When I am working on the design of my website in chrome I cannot easily open or upload PDF files.  Is this with Chrome or with my adobe reader.  I can easily open in IE with one click.  Same for Mozilla.
I keep getting an update adobe reader primpt which I do with no help.  I thin have to click "use this time only" in chrome and the file will appear.

Please try to check the Plug-ins in the chrome browser... Google Chrome has its own plug-in as well to open PDF Documents ...

Help ... I cannot open pdf files in safari. Any ideas how I can fix this please?

    Back up all data.
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • I can not afford the cS6 subcription my trial period is over cannot open adobe files What can I do?

Trial subcription for CS6 is over decided not to purchase.  Now I cannot open non of my adobe files.

Not sure what you expect. Adobe specific file formats can only be opened with Adobe apps and that is that. Wasn't that obvious from the start? Not meaning to be rude, but clearly Adobe is a company that makes its business by selling software. They surely don't mean for people to create stuff in their trial versions and then run off to competitors or use free software even. It's the nature of the beast. Only generic, publicly documented, non-proprietary formats like PDF, EPS, HTML, RTF or image formats like JPEG, PNG, BMP etc. will open in other programs without limitations. Some programs may be able to open some Adobe formats like PSD, but always with limitations.

Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)] and then try to open the file.

  • I cannot open pdf files from one supplier when using Adobe Reader but I can using another Viewer

I cannot open pdf files from one supplier when using Adobe Reader but I can open it if using Google PDF viewer or another viewer. The Adobe reader gives the error "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired" when I try to open the file. The version of Adobe Reader is 10.1.7, however I have tried other versions and they all fail the same way.  I have tested on a number of different PC's in different networks and all fail using Adobe Reader but work using alternate viewer. Also the PC's will open a PDF from any other source.

Newer Reader versions are more strict than older versions (and other PDF viewers).  If certain minimum requirements are not met, Reader will tell you that the PDF is damaged.  This can happen when a document was created with software that does not adhere to PDF standards, or when the file was damaged during a download or email transmission.
You should contact the creator of these PDFs.

  • I am running InDesign CS5.5 and trying to open an In Design File but getting an error message. " Cannot open the file "PDavidLCover.indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file

I am running InDesign CS5.5 and trying to open an In Design File but getting an error message. " Cannot open the file "PDavidLCover.indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file me be open in another application."Please help I really need to get this file open.

Since you've shown us the folder contents it's a good bet it isn't in use (no lock file). And it doesn't look like the file is mis-named as there doesn't seem to be anything else there that would be the .indd file (but just in case, open it in TextEdit and paste the first few lines here so we can see what the file header says), so the most likely case is the file is damaged. Is that on a removable device of some sort?
You can try the tool at Repair corrupt InDesign Adobe files on Mac OS X  or send me a link to the file by private message and I'll try the recovery tool I have for Windows.

  • I just downloaded the trial version of Photoshop CS6. And cannot open adobe eps files ?

I have installed Photoshop CS6 and cannot open adobe eps files? any Ideas

    Hi there
When you say that you can't open eps files, are you getting an error message?
Photoshop CS6 has the ability to open both .eps and .ai files. However, opening by going to File > Open... will rasterize the image - meaning that it is no long a vector so you can't scale it up and down without losing quality. To open an .eps or .ai file in Photoshop and maintain its vector capabilities, try the following:
Create a new canvas in Photoshop. Then, go to File > Place...
After selecting your file from the Place dialog box, your image will be placed into your canvas. Resize accordingly, and then hit Enter on your keyboard.
The image you just placed is a Smart Object, meaning that it has retained its vector capabilities and can be resized without losing image quality. If you ever need to rasterized this image, just right click on the layer and select Rasterize Layer.
If you are still having trouble, please post here again so that we can provide additional assistance.
    Cheers!

When I have seen this message it is either when I try to open a document with an older version of Indesign E.g. an indesign 2014 document with Indesign CC.
The other time I have seen it is to open an Indesign CC document with Indesign 2014 which does not have Mindsuite - a plugin I use. Mindsuite, as yet, has not upgrade the plugin for Indesign 2014 therefore it recognises that a the document was created withe a plugin that the 2014 version does not have installed.
I believe your problem will be something like that.

How do I resolve the issue Cannot open the file ".indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing , or the file may be open in another application?

Shouldn't the CC version be able to open any file created in an older version on InDesign?
    Yes, it ought to.
If the older file wasn't yours (if someone emailed it to you,or burned it on a disc, or whatever), then I am almost willing to bet you a beverage in the city of your choice that it's not a complete InDesign file. That is, maybe it was zipped and renamed, or the beginning or end of the file was chopped off during download, or something like that. The only reason I'm not actually making the bet is that there is a remote chance that I'd lose, and maybe you're in Adelaide or Khabarovsk or somewhere where the cost of airfare to me would make that bet a very expensive bet for me to to lose. So no latte for you if I'm wrong!
The script that Jongware posted will tell you what version of InDesign made the file to begin with. Additionally, if someone did something like rename YourFile.PDF to YourFIle.INDD, it'll report that it's Not An InDesign File. Because while SpectrumPCS is kinda right and that message can be generated when attempting to open a CS5 file in CS3 or whatever, it also spits out the same message when you just try to open an Autocad file, or a Windows system file, or a PDF, or any file that InDesign actually cannot open at all.
