Cannot open any ports, they are ALL stealth.

After spending hours on end trying to open the port 25565 on my Mac and finding that it was always closed I decided to use a different port checker now if I check my ports on Shields Up! 'https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2' it says ALL ports are stealth no matter which I try. How can I 'un-stealth' the port 25565 and open it. On my router's homepage (BTHOMEHUB3 (A)) it says I have set up the port correctly and that it has been applied. Any help would be greatly apprieciated.

I assume you're trying to get a process to listen on that port. If so, deactivate the built-in firewall and any third-party firewall you may have installed. If your router has a firewall, deactivate that too.

3.6.14 Firefox is BROKEN. Running MacOS 10.4.11. Updated this afternoon and after restart, I could not get Firefox to access ANY URL OR WEBSITE. I disabled and removed all the firewalls I know about and still get NO ACCESS to any web site.

Uninstall SIMBL as follows. Back up all data before making any changes.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V), and press return. A folder will open. From that folder, delete the items listed below (some may be absent.) You may be prompted for your administrator login password.

ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax
Log out and log back in.
Make sure you never reinstall SIMBL. It’s likely to come bundled with another third-party system modfication that depends on it. If you want trouble-free computing, avoid software that makes miraculous changes to other software, especially built-in applications. The only real exception to that rule is Safari extensions, which are mostly safe, and are easy to get rid of when they don’t work. SIMBL and its dependents are not Safari extensions.

HELP! i just opened stickies and they are ALL GONE!

I do not know what happened, but i turned on my computer this morning and opened stickies and its like the program reset itself all my stickies and the info on them were gone and the original starter stickies ( the ones that tell you how to use them) were there instead! Where did they go- some of that info is irreplaceable. Please help!

Sorry that your welcome to Discussions is marred by loss of your Stickies.
The data you lost was stored in a file called "Stickies Database." It is stored in the Library folder in your home directory--it should be there among a bunch of folders.
One of two things probably happened: either you moved the original file out of that folder (and Stickies promptly rebuilt itself the new, default database with the introductory stickies), or your original data file became corrupt and the application created a new database--one that didn't have your data in it.
If you have a backup of your home directory, you could get the database file and put a copy of it in your Library folder, removing the useless (starter) one. Then open Stickies and it should use the replacement database.
As you are probably finding out right now, it's important to backup critical data, and furthermore, Stickies probably aren't the best place to store critical data. I think the Library is a bad place for Stickies to keep its database because most things in there don't need to be backed up. It should instead be in the Documents folder.
I'm sorry that this probably won't be of any help to you. There are much better replacements for the Stickies application and if you like I can give you some suggestions--they're not free, though.

Select one and hit the Space bar to view it in QuickLook. Use the forward arrow keys to move from file to file. If the file can't be viewed in the QuickLook mode then the file is damaged and probably can't be copied or moved.
You could try a photo file recovery application like MediaRECOVER which can scan the memory card and tell you what files, if any, can be recovered before you have to purchase it.

Launch iTunes, go to the Preferences, select Devices, and hover your cursor over the backup file for the iPod. That should show you the serial number, IMEI, and possibly the MEID.
The manufacturer ID will not help you locate the iPad, though. If you set up the Find My iPad service in the Settings prior to the iPad going missing, then there is a chance that can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors (the iPad is turned on, connected to a WiFi or 3G network, and has not had the Find My iPad service disabled or the iPad been completely restored).
If you did not set up Find My iPad, then there is no way to track it. Contact the police and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPad (the iTunes Store, for instance).

Hi, I tried all the steps listed in these forums and they didn't work (I deleted the apps and added them back, I dled a new app, I signed in and out of my acct, I synced my phone, I did a reset holding down the power and home button, etc.). Finally I just restored the phone and added back the apps I wanted. That took care of it. Thanks.

Connect your device to iTunes and in the the window were all the apps are greyed out make sure the 'Sync Apps' checkbox (top left corner) is selected.

They open in Preview by default.
However, if you open Picture Folder in Preview, navigate to any photo ( without opening it ) then right click on the photo and select Get Info from the dropdown menu.
About 2/3rds' of the way down on the Get Info tab you'll see a Marker ' Open WIth '. Enter whichever editing program you're using.
Whenever you open a photo from whatever it's location it will open in the chosen editing program.

I can get on the page and read my mail, etc. like normal if i use Internet Explorer, but I prefer Firefox. The problem is Firefox and I rely on my e-mail for job purposes. Drag them to your iTunes library. Download the free iBooks app. Select the PDFs you want too sync in the iTunes books pane. The iBooks app will show your books collection or your PDFs collection as you select.
