Cannot open bridge or photoshop

Followed all instructions to install Photoshop. When I opened the program and went to Bridge, I receive the error message "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." I have to install CS2 and Photoshop online because my original Photoshop CS2 cannot be activated. I haven't used Photoshop for quite some time but would like to begin using it again. Can you help?

I know it does help find a solution, but I have run across some older DNG's that will open in LR 2 but will not open in Bridge/CSR 4. (These are DNG's created by Scott Kelby for his LR 2 book - I have attached on to this post.)  I can open them first in LR and then tell LR to edit the image in Photoshop and it will open. I have not yet had the issue of LR not being able to open the DNG correctly. However, I may not have done a DNG conversion since I installed the 5.6 upgrade. When I get a chance I will go convert some CR2 files and see what happens.
Mike
I have uploaded one of Kelby's dng's that will not open in my desktop nor laptop Bridge/CSR 4 w/all updates. DNG 5.6 is unable to process them as well. It will import into LR. Other than that I cannot cause DNG's not to load into Bridge/CSR.
Opps the file is too big. You can download it from here. Kelby's Technical Copy Editor told me she did not have the same problem. Weird. I hope you solve your problem.

I have Photoshop CS5, and use windows XP. I cannot open bridge from photoshop, which I have done for years.  When I am in Photoshop, when it opens, I always click on the bridge icon at the bottom of the screen and it puts me into bridge. This is not happening, the small wheel at the bottom of the screen just keeps spinning. Its like its stuck or caught in a loop. I can't get into bridge. I tried shutting down and starting up again but  the problem remains. Looking for help.  Dan

Thanks for your response, I was able to open bridge from File-Browse in Bridge.  This worked, but was not able to go back to the way I always opened Bridge.  At least I could get to Bridge and go into Camera Raw. I never tried to open Bridge from the Start menu.  The odd thing about this is, it has happened before, and to get it "unstuck" and working again, I would shut down and restart again in a few minutes, and things would go back to normal.  This time it did not go back to normal after several attempts.  I shut down for about 3-4 hours, restarted, and it seems to be back to normal again. I am not sure if it's a problem that is getting worse each time it happens.       And yes I am using Mini Bridge in photoshop CS5.  Thank you for your help.  Dan

I have installed all current updates for Mac and reinstalled Bridge again from CC and still get the same issue? Any advice?

  • Cannot Open Bridge

I just installed CS4 Extended on my MacbookPro running Snow Leopard.  The installation was flawless.  However, I cannot open Bridge.  HELP!!!!!!!!!!

    Omke,
Thank you for your quick reply.  I believe I know the root of my problem.
Prior to receiving PSCS4 (Mac), I installed Photoshop Elements 8 to see if
it would be what I wanted--it was not.  I uninstalled it but, I did not use
the uninstaller and moved all components to trash and emptied the trash.  I
still have the uninstall feature in Finder but I have not tried that, since
    there is nothing to uninstall.
I am afraid there are remnants of Bridge still present on my hard drive.
Can you give me advice on how to completely remove PSE8 and just reinstall
    Bridge?
I call ed Customer Service this morning to see if I could be walked through
the process, after 45 minutes on hold I gave up.  I assume they are closed
    for President's Day.
    Thanking you in advance,
    Charles
    PS
Forgive me but I am new to a Mac and did the uninstall the way it would have
worked on my Windows machine--that was an error.

  • I had to reinstall CS4 and now have error messages when opening bridge and photoshop

The error message is "The specified module could not be found. C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.1\Version Cue.DLL

I tried what you suggested and it did not help.  whenever I try to open either photoshop or bridge, I get a message saying that there was a problem loading scripts the last time that Bridge was open and do I want to try loading them again?  If I click yes, I get that same error message that I reported in my original question and photoshop/bridge will immediately close.  If I click no, photoshop and bridge will open but it will not let me open a raw format document.  It seems like Adobe Camera Raw is not being recognized.   One of the updates I downloaded was an update to Adobe Camera Raw so the functionality is there, it just can't be accessed.  do you think I should try to uninstall and re-install Photoshop again?

  • I cannot launch bridge from photoshop cc 2014

I cannot launch bridge from photoshop cc 2014

If you have downloaded and installed Bridge CC and it worked with Photoshop CC,
a common reason for this happening in CC 2014, is that you might have uninstalled Photoshop CC. If that's so, you need to reinstall Photoshop CC.

  • Cannot open : Error 2  Photoshop is Undefined

When I try to open Bridge from Photoshop CS5, I get the message:
    Error 2 Photoshop is undefined
    Line: 1
    ->  photoshop.invokeBridge (false, false, '');

Guess a little sleepy when I posted.  You need to hold down the ctrl key and start
Bridge.  Some users have to click on Bridge
icon and then IMMEDIATELY hold down the Crtl key.  Should get a
    reset window.
The icon I am talking about is the desktop shortcut icon to open Bridge.

  • Cannot Open PDF in Photoshop

I have a PDF file that I cannot open in Photoshop (it works in the PDF viewer).
The message is: "could not open x.pdf because it is not a Photoshop PDF file"
I did try to open file type PDF generic but that did not work either. My first attempt was merely double-clicking on the file name.
I am on Windows XP and using Photoshop 7.0
    Thanks

I'm having the same problem opening a PDF in PS7.0.  I created the PDF in Acrobat 9 pro.
The image I selected, copied & pasted from pdf to ps worked, but was too pixlated.
You mentioned there might be a security setting in Acrobat 9 that might prevent me from opening it in PS7.0?
If so, is there any way to turn that off so I can open that pdf I created in ps?
I didn't have this problem when I had Acrobat 8 pro.

  • Cannot Install Adobe Updates / Cannot Open Files in Photoshop from LR

    Hi,
I cannot seem to update the programs that show need to be updated. My computer shows I need to update Adboe Bridge CS5, Extension Manager, Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw, but get the following error every time: "There was an  error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later."
I figure this is part of the reason why I cannot edit a photo from Lightroom to Photoshop. When I try to edit in Photoshop, the program opens up but the image doesn't appear. When I try to open the image directly in Photoshop, I get the following error: "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw."
I assume the two issues are related, but how can I get past this if I can't update Camera Raw?
I'm running on Yosemite and have Photoshop CS5 and LR 3.
    Thanks for any help!

The updater for older versions don's work well, if at all, anymore. Update the manually:
Adobe - Photoshop : For Macintosh : Adobe Photoshop 12.0.4 update for Adobe Photoshop CS5
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Camera Raw 6.7.1 Update
If you upgraded to Yosemite with CS5 installed, you may want to uninstall and re-install CS5 before doing the above. You can find the CS5 downloads here: Download CS5 products

  • After reinstalling CS3 I cannot get bridge (or photoshop) to update

I had to reinstall CS3 due to some graphics issues. I've restarted the computer and bridge/ps several times...and keep hitting the update button but after updateing adobe reader..it doesn't find anymore updates. So I still have 4.0 and cannot read canon 50D raw files as well as many more issues.
I'm running 10.5.5 2,0 dual core PC chip with 5 gig ram.

The Adobe Updater does seem to work in CS4 however.
A new Updater has been posted and there are a bunch of small updates for the Suite listed for downloading and installing and it would be a pain to do all of them manually.
If you have library/application Support/Adobe open while the installation is happening, you will see just how many files are being uninstalled and replaced by this operation!
I have just run the Updater (via Photoshop CS4's Help Menu) and it went flawlessly.

  • Cannot Open files in Photoshop cs6

I am using PS CS6 through the Creative Cloud. When I try to open a file (RAW or JPEG), I can see the layer and the file name, but nothing is showing in the work area. I have tried uninstalling all Adobe products (I also use LR 4.3). Ran a registry cleaner twice, and reinstalled PS with updates and ACR 7.3. This did not solve anything. The files open fine in LR 4.3 and in PSE 10 before I unistalled it. Any suggestions on what is causing this and/or how to fix it? Thank you

    What OS version?
Have you tried disabling GPU drawing in Photoshop preferences?
Have you updated your video card driver from the GPU maker's website?

  • Cannot open download of Photoshop CC

After paying for Photoshop CC and being propmted to download, the message says "up to date" in 2 seconds.  However, I have no icon to launch the Photoshop CC. I am in limbo.

    Hi LeeJay123,
Please refer the kb: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/aam-lists-removed-apps-date.html and try installing again.

  • Cannot open .avi in Photoshop CS6

I am trying to load videos from my nikon camera.  They are .avi files.
When opened i get the transparent background and can only hear audio.
I opened a .wmv file and it worked just fine.  is this a bug?

Please install the latest version of Quicktime.
Quicktime is still required under-the-hood on import for some files.
There is an issue here that we've made note of.
The error message is not descriptive in CS6 Beta, even though it was in previous versions.
CS6 Beta:  “Could not complete your request because the video file could not be opened.”
CS5: "Could not complete your request because QuickTime version 7.1 or later is required."
    Thanks,
    Meredith
