Cannot open calendar in Mavericks

I updated to Mavericks and now I cannot open calendar. I cannot revert back to snow leopard. How can I fix it so it will open?

Well, apparently according to my research, the apps break after using crappy cleaning programs, Clean my Mac, Mackeeper and that kind of crap.

  • Fatal error 70: Cannot open calendar database

    When I try to start my iPlanet Calendar Server(iCS) 5.0, the following error
    occurs:
    <P>
    Fatal error 70: Cannot open calendar database
    When this error occurs, first try to recover the database using the
    "csdb" command line
    utility. For more information on the
    csdb utility, please
    refer to the iCS 5.0 documentation at the following URL:
    <P>
    http://docs.iplanet.com/docs/manuals/calendar/ics50/ag/calagxa.htm#13586
    <P>
    If you are unable to recover the database using the
    csdb utility, use the
    following steps:
    <OL>
    <LI>Completely shut down the calendar server to ensure that there are no
    stray calendar processes still running.
    <P>
    <LI>Change directory to your iCS database directory (the default directory
    on Solaris is
    /var/opt/SUNWics5/csdb/).
    <P>
    cd /var/opt/SUNWics5/csdb/
    <P>
    <LI>Create a temp
    directory.
    <P>
    mkdir temp
    <P>
    <LI>Move all of the
    *.share files to the
    temp directory.
    <P>
    mv *.share temp/
    <P>
    <LI>Restart the calendar server.
    <P>
    <B>Note:</B> The *.share
    files will be rebuilt upon startup.
    </OL>
    <P>

    theFatal error 70: Cannot open calendar database error can occur after a migration from Netscape calendar server, using the ncs4migrate utility.
    The problem can be that the log* files in the csdb folder (or wherever you put the calendar database) are not owned by the same user that runs the calendar server - commonly called icsuser.
    ie.
    -rw-r----- 1 root other 5499425 Jun 25 14:17 log.0000000142
    will cause fatal error 70:
    change the owner, thus
    -rw-r----- 1 icsuser2 icsgroup2 5499425 Jun 25 14:17 log.0000000142
    and it should work!

  • Palm TX crashing - line 942 Cannot Open Calendar library

    For the last few weeks my Palm TX is crashing almost every other day.  I can not find and easily recreate the problem, but when system crashes is usually when I try to access Calendar via hard button.  Since I am also running "Reset Doctor" this is the message that is being recorded:
    "DatebookUI.c, Line: 942, Cannot Open Calendar library"
    Appreciate any feedback and maybe some points how to correct this problem.
    Andrew

    As with most problems that occur on a Palm PDA, it is either software or hardware related and we have to determine which one.
    Best method is to first make a complete backup of your unit to your SD card using the free "NVBackup" (available from http://www.freewarepalm.com) After the backup is complete, Hard Reset the unit, then test to see if full functionality returns.
    To perform a Hard Reset:
    While pressing and holding the Power button down, tap and release the Reset button in back and continue to hold the Power button down. When the grey Palm logo appears, you can release the Power button.
    You should now see the warning page in about 5 languages. Press the UP direction on the 5-way pad to complete the task. Your Palm will reset itself several times as it re-installs the original programs and erases all your previous data.
    DO NOT HOTSYNC YET! Test the unit before reinstalling any software. If the unit works correctly, your problem is being caused by a "drug interaction" of software - maybe one rogue program, or a combination of several. You'll have to reinstall the third-party programs one or a few at a time to find the problem one. To avoid re-installing a software issue, rename your /Backup directory in your Palm folder (on a PC it's found here: C/Program Files/Palm(One)/"your HotSync ID name truncated"/Backup) to something like "/BackupOLD". Now perform the HotSync, choose your HotSync name you've been using, and all your PIM data will return, but not the third-party programs. Test for functionality again. If all is good, start installing the old programs from your /BackupOLD directory one (or a few if brave) at a time.
    If the unit does not work after a Hard Reset is performed correctly, then it may be Hardware-related. (If it's a connection problem via either BlueTooth or Wifi, be sure nothing has changed on the unit you're trying to connect to!)
    Hope this has helped,

  • Cannot open calendar app on my iPhone 5. Please how do I fix it.

    I cannot open the calendar app on my iPhone 5. It flashes for a second and then go back to home screen. I have already restarted the phone twice and force the app to close several times without success.
    Anybody can help please? Thank you.

    Try a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone reboots, see if you can open it. If not, the next step is restore from a backup, but if there is a corrupt file in there, it will copy over from the backup. The last step is a restore as new device. This will delete all data on the device. If it still will not work, the you would need to make an appointment at the Apple store to get the hardware checked.

  • I also cannot open word with Mavericks.

    i have MS office 2011. i have uninstalled and reinstalled and now i can't open any of my MS suite. i have info from a G5 on my iMac and imperative i can access my Word files. now no outlook as it says it can't open this identity so uninstalling has made the problem worse. i have a MBP and there was no issue with it and i can  open word files. this is crazy. please help

    Can you run MS AutoUpdate application separately from within the /Applications/Office folder? Make certain that your version of AutoUpdate is version 2.3.6 or later. If it is older, you can get v2.3.6 on mactopia.
    This will get all updates needed, including the latest 14.3.9 Office update. Don't try to start Office just yet.
    Once the updates are done, click once on the Desktop to make Finder current, and press shift+command+U to open the Utilities folder. Start Disk Utility, select your boot disk, and in First Aid, verify/repair permissions. Quit Disk Utility.
    Next, perform a Safe Boot. Power off the Mac, press and hold the shift key immediately after you touch the power button. When you see a horizontal progress bar, release the shift key. When you are presented with a login, and before you press the proceed arrow after your password, press and hold the shift key until you have a Finder menu bar.
    Reboot normally, and see if Office for Mac 2011 works.

  • After upgrading to mavericks, i cannot open mac app store, preview, calendar, etc

    Why i cannot open mac app store, preview, calendar, software update, etc after upgrading to mavericks? How can i fix this? please help me

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
    Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
    Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • HT201412 I cannot open the month of March 2013 in my iPad3 calendar. I can however see it in the year view for 2013 and I can view the daily and weekly calendars for March 2013. Any ideas what has gone wrong ? Thanks

    I have a new iPad3 and have found I cannot open the month of March 2013 when I tap on it. All other months open OK ! I can see March 2013 in the yearly view and I can open the individual days, and weeks, of March 2013 but I cannot see the whole month in the monthly view. When I try to open the monthly view for March 2013 it returns me to the start screen which shows all the apps etc and closes the Calendar app. Any guidance of what is going wrong and how it can be corrected. Thanks !

As far as i know I'm using Adobe Java 7. None of my CS5 suite works anymore............and i really dont want to upgrade to a monthly cloud service fee as i hate this policy with a passion.

    This goes for Dreamweaver CC on Mavericks!!!!! THANK YOU!
    I couldn't launch Dreamweaver CC. An error told me to install "java se 6 runtime". But when I clicked  OK I got another error telling me there is a network problem! I found this forum post on CS6 products, so I tried the download link, installed java 6 and presto, it worked! Thanks!
