Cannot open dwg files in Adobe Illustrator CS6  version 16.0.0

I cannot open dwg files in Adobe Illustrator CS6  version 16.0.0
Has any one had this issue before?
Thank you
cgervasio

No, not really.  I do get a few error messages when I start up now, but I had transferred everything from my old computer, so figured it was a glitch. The error message was a dialogue box like the others, only it said this:
"Insecure start-up item disabled. Library/Startup Items/.DS_Store/ has not been started because it does not have the proper security settings."
"Insecure start-up item disabled. Library/Startup Items/ES1000Service/ has not been started because it does not have the proper security settings."
"Insecure start-up item disabled. Library/Startup Items/Parallels/ has not been started because it does not have the proper security settings."
I know for sure we have not used Parallels in the past 2 years that I have been here.
As for the other two star-tup items, I am not entirely sure what thier purpose is.
Would any of these have anything to do with it?

  • Why can't I open DWG files in Adobe Illustrator CS6?

Why can't I open DWG files in Adobe Illustrator CS6?  I recently upgraded to Mac OS X Mountain Lion & got a new Mac Pro.  Then I signed up for the Creative Cloud.  Now I cannot open any DWG files in Illustrator.  Why?

  • I cannot open InDesign files after upgrading to CS6.

Error message is "Cannot open the file *.indd. Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug in that support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application" Can anyone help!

That message means exactly what it says, more or less. The three possibilities are it isn't an InDesign file at all (we see that here a lot), there is a .idlk lock file in the same folder (delete it), or the file has been damaged (frequently happens with flash drives).
If you open the file in a plain text editor like NotePad or TextEdit (it will look like gibberish) and paste the first few lines here we may be able to tell you if the file is damaged or not an InDesign file.

  • Cannot open any files in Adobe CS6 even though the files were created in cs6

I am currently using Adobe cs6 I cannot get any of my old files to open do anybody know of any possible issues that may have been experienced with this program please help

    Hi there,
Are you able to open the file in Acrobat? If so, try saving it as a .PDF then see if you can open the PDFs in Illustrator.
Otherwise, the files might be corrupted.

  • Cannot open multiple files with Adobe Reader X

    Hi to all!
I've just installed Adobe Reader X. This is my problem: I select multiple pdf files (from 2 to 9) from a folder, then I click whith the right mouse button and choose "Open with Adobe Reader X" (or chlick the Enter button). I expect that Acrobat will open all the files I selected but only one will open!
If I try to open the files from the File/Open function in Reader X and I choose the same documents, the documents itselfs will be open correctly!
I use the same procedure using Reader 9.x but I've not the same problem.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance.
    Stefano

I have the same problem, but cannot find this supposed "Adobe Reader" forum, nor can I find an "Acrobat Reader" forum. (Everything else seems to be there, but no Reader...)
With all previous versions over recent years, up to version 9, I could select multiple PDF files in Windows Explorer, hit Enter, and it loaded them all. Then I could Ctrl+F6 to switch between the documents.
Now, if I try this with just 2 PDF files, it loads one and then locks up, with each session of Acrobat taking about 40-45% of processor power. I have to crash out of it.
    Help!
Or at least show me where this Acrobat Reader forum is?
    Many thanks

    Hi Mylenium,

That info is stored in the registry on Windows and in a file in the Library on the Mac. nothing you can erase easily, but if you are feeling adventurous, on windows you could launch regedit, then search the registry for HKEY_USERS\[your user ID numeric key]\Software\Adobe\MediaBrowser\MRU\illustrator.

Edit: Please change your user name to not represent an e-mail address it invites spam bots and may actually get you a lot of extra mail...
What is "[your user ID numeric key] "  in the registry HKEY_USERS\[your user ID numeric key]\Software\Adobe\MediaBrowser\MRU\illustrator
    that you mentioned above?
After I find this registry key in Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3, then how do I modify this registry key?
I am having trouble to modify my existing  Adobe ID to change it to a different ID not my email address.
    Please reply back soon.

  • Multiple reviewers cannot open CREV files in Adobe Captivate Reviewer 1.0 after the first review

We are using Captivate 4.0 with Captivate Reviewer 1.0 for review and comments. The problem we are having just started within the last month...
We place the CREV file and folder on the network so that multiple reviewers can access. All have Adobe Captivate Reviewer 1.0 installed.
When the first person opens the CREV file, they are told that the folder is already in use, and that they must create another.
Once a new folder is created a user may open the CREV file and make comments and save them. However, subsequent reviewers cannot open the CREV file to add their comments. Subsequent reviewes must create anothe folder and then they can open and review the file and add comments.
However, because the CREV file is now saving comments in a different folder, reviewers cannot see each others comments. The last module we did where everthing worked correctly and multiple reviewers could open and comment the same file without any issues was about one month ago on 07/29. We have no idea if something has changed since then that would render Captivate Reviewer 1.0 inoperable, but we'd like to see if anyone else has seen and/or resolved this issue...
    Thanks,
    James

No, I've had WIndows 7 since it was released through MSDN.  Adobe Captivate 4, released in January 2009, was the most recent version of Captivate available when Windows 7 was released to MSDN and Technet subscribers in August 2009.  Captivate 5 was not released until May 2010, almost 9 months after Windows 7 was released to the public.
Captivate 4 has a message at startup mentioning that one should run it as administrator, which is a Windows 7 feature involving User Account Control.  We bought it sometime after Windows 7 was released but before Captivate 5 was released, otherwise we would have bought Captivate 5.
Captivate 4 has worked for us on Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP.  For it to work on Windows Vista and up, we had to make sure a particular update was applied.
The problem is that it works when it feels like it, and the rest of the time it just freezes at startup.  Deleting the app data folder seemed to help, so perhaps it had issues with state corruption.  These issues have plagued this application from day 1 on every OS we've used it on.

  • I cannot open the PPD for Adobe Illustrator 10.0.3

When trying to Set Up Separations in Adobe Illustrator 10.0.3 it is requested to open the PPD for the HP 5000. I have been to:
    Library/PPDs/Contents/Resource/en.lproj/HP laserjet 5000 Series.gz
The dialog box comes up: Selected file is not a valid PPD. Please select a different file.
    20" iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I'm not sure I can provide you with an answer that will meet your needs as I have no working knowledge of Illustrator. The file:
    Library/PPDs/Contents/Resource/en.lproj/HP laserjet 5000 Series.gz
is a gzipped copy of the laserjet 5000 PPD. When a printer queue for that printer is created, the system copies an uncompressed version of this file to /etc/cups/ppd. My guess is that this is the file that Illustrator wants. The one possible problem that I can see is that the /etc/cups/ppd directory is invisible. I don't know if Illustrator allows you to navigate to that directory.
Hopefully someone with Illustrator experience can provide further information.

  • How can I open .mfg files in adobe illustrator?

I have CS4 and I do already have the EscoArtwork plug in to open .ARD files but I can not open or place .MFG files created with ArtiosCAD.
    Any suggestions? Thanks

    Hello James,
Unless Esko makes a plug-in for them in the future, the only way to open them is with ArtiosCAD and then exporting to an Illustrator compatible format. I don't think a plug-in will be possible since MFGs are very complex. Not only are they used for layouts, but they may also have dieboard, stripping, and counter data. They also contain embedded ARD files with their own sets of layers.
The best thing to do is ask the person providing them to also make you an EPS or DXF.

  • Blank page when opening .fla file in Adobe Flash CS6

I have converted the document from .swf to .fla, and wanna open it in Adobe Flash. I used CS6 after CC. I opened the .fla file, but it shows a blank page instead (see the link below). I don't know why does it happen. I noticed that in the Library tab in the right, the resources (images) still exist. Any hints that I could open and edit the file?

You need to post this to a different forum.  This is the forum for Adobe Audition.

  • Default open dwg files in Illustrator CS6

I frequently use dwg files in Adobe Illustrator, so I set dwg files default program to Illustrator CS5.
We recently upgraded to CS6 and when I opened it, it didn’t update the default program. I tried using the “open with” menu. Illustrator CS6 doesn’t show as one of the options, so I browsed for it, selected it, clicked ok. The dialog box closed, but CS6 wasn’t added to the menu. I received the same results using “Associate a file type with a program” in the Control panel.
Any ideas how to make Illustrator my default program for dwg files?
    Thanks

It is not related to Creative cloud but a OS specific issue. You didn't mentioned the OS but I pressume it is Windows because we have seen this on Windows.
Open the Control Panel from the Start menu.
Mine is set in top right to 'View by' Category. I clicked on Programs (green link).
Under Default Programs I clicked on the blue link for 'Make a file type always open in a specific program'.
Wait for 'Loading..'. to finish. Make sure the list is sorted by Name and scroll down to '.dwg'. Select it and click the button for 'Change program...'.
Do no see Firworks listed in the Recommended Programs, so click on the small triangle to the right of Other Programs. Select Fireworks and click the OK button.
Wait for the list to reload and confirm the association changed.
    Hope this helps !!

  • Opening CDR file - Extremely Fatal to CS6 64-bit apps

I'm trying to get down the bottom of what's causing an extremely serious error in the 64-bit version of Adobe Illustrator CS6.
Adobe Illustrator can open CorelDRAW .CDR files, to a certain extent. The .CDR files need to be saved down to version 9 or 10 compatibility. One of my coworkers just ran into a really bad Illustrator CS6 crash caused when opening a .CDR file. This is a crash I had to endure on my own new system a couple months ago.
After Illustrator CS6 64-bit crashes it simply refuses to launch again. It crashes and closes. Rebooting doesn't help. Deleting the AI prefs file doesn't help. Worse yet, the crash basically hoses all of the CS6 64-bit apps that are installed. The 64-bit version of Photoshop CS6 crashes when opening a file.
The last time this happened my only recourse was to do a "factory reset" on my computer, basically wiping the hard drive and reinstalling Windows 8 Professional in a clean state and then going through the very long, slow process of downloading and installing the CS6 apps from the Creative Cloud.
Does anyone in this forum have any experience with this particular kind of crash? Are there any possible alternatives that might fix this error besides wiping the hard drive and starting over? This bug is pretty badly timed. Gonna have to go through all the download/install process stuff again when the new CC apps are released.

The bug is unpredictable. Once the bug has occurred Adobe Illustrator CS6 64-bit will no longer launch. Rebooting and deleting the aiprefs file doesn't work. Additionally the bug also permanently affects other CS6 64-bit applications. Photoshop CS6 64-bit will launch, but it crashes when opening any file. After Effects and Premiere Pro crash at launch. No third party plug-ins were installed on this computer.
    Affected computer's hardware:
    Dell XPS 8500 Desktop
    • Core i7 3770 Quad Core 3.4GHz
    • 16GB RAM - Dual Channel DDR3 1600MHz - 4 DIMMs
    • nVidia GeForce GT640 1GB GDDR5 SDRAM
    • 2TB 7200rpm SATA 6 Gb/s Hard Disc
    • DVD-R/W Drive
    • 19 in 1 media card reader
    • Windows 8 Professional 64-bit
When this bug affected my own workstation a couple months ago, I tried to uninstall Adobe Illustrator CS6, download it again and then reinstall. Illustrator CS6 64-bit still refused to launch. The other 64-bit apps wouldn't launch either. So I ended up wiping the hard disc, reinstalling Win 8 Pro clean and downloading/reinstalling everything and just being careful to not open any .CDR files after that. My workstation is a little better equipped (Core i7 3770, 24GB of RAM, BD-RW drive, nVidia GeForce 660GTX, Intel SRT solid state drive with SATA 6gb/s 2TB HDD).
Previously I did run into problems when opening CorelDRAW .CDR artwork that was larger than a standard letter sized page. I would get hit with a dialog box saying "the file appears to be corrupt." I'd end up making CorelDRAW save the artwork into Adobe Illustrator CS5 format and then opening it Illustrator. Once my Adobe apps got hosed by a certain .CDR file I simply stopped trying to open any CorelDRAW files directly in Illustrator at all. Didn't want to go through the long process of reinstalling everything from scratch again. Unfortunately my coworker didn't remember the details of my experience. So now we're dealing with it on her new machine.
My coworker said she thinks she remembers which .CDR file caused Illustrator CS6 64-bit to crash. Here's a Dropbox link to it:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/86940762/V130520-1%20CC%20expo%20center%20billingsley% 20ford%20FS.cdr
Warning: I do not recommend other users to try opening this CorelDRAW file within Adobe Illustrator CS6. I'm sure not trying it on my installation!
This particular .CDR file doesn't have any active type in it. But it does feature some strange clipped gradient effects. I think some of this artwork was originally created in Illustrator and then saved in CorelDRAW. I'm wondering if there is some sort of way Corel tried to reinterpret the artwork that caused Illustrator to lose its mind when reopening it. If memory serves correctly I was opening some similar Illustrator-generated and then Corel-saved art in my own copy of AI CS6 64-bit when it crashed.

  • Can't see CR2 files in Adobe Bridge CS6

I have recently purchased Canon 5D Mark iii and have taken a few shots in RAW mode. When I try to open the file in Adobe Bridge CS6, I can't view the file.
I also have a canon T2i and the raw file from that camera show perfectly fine.
What could be the problem? All my CS6 software is up to date.

Updated to ACR 8.4? There is an issue:
The fix is to download a 8.4 again via the link below and follow the instructions to replace the existing 8.4 plugin:
