I cannot open files by double clicking ... have looked at forums and no solution yet !!! Control click is the only way i can open files
"If you go to System Preferences > Accessibility > Mouse and Trackpad - You can set the speed of the double click to be much slower. Hope this helps someone else with a similar problem. " this solution did not work it just made my cursor move at a snails pace.

I figured it out. Thanks everyone!
I had to turn on my wireless mouse... And even though I wasn't using my wireless mouse and just the trackpad...I had to turn on my wireless mouse then adjust those settings...Had to turn down the speed. Then Once I shut the mouse off and started to use the trackpad again it works perfectly.
I'm not sure why the mouse settings would change the trackpad settings but it did.

When I double click the file after Acrobat is opened nothing happens...
The PDF file only opens if I start the acrobat program then look for the PDF file or any PDF Files and then I am able to open them.

Just drag the divider line between the preview pane and the message list all the way to the edge so the preview is completely closed. Selected messages will open in a new window with a double-click or the return key.

Presently using latest iMac.
my files or folders on the desktop does not open with 2 left clicks. But it does if from the dock. However It will open only when I right click and mouse over to 'open' from the pull down menu. What setting did i not do correctly ?

You can look in System Preferences > Accessibility > Mouse & Trackpad and check/adjust the double-click speed there, too.
If that doesn't help, I'd suggest you test for the same issue (the apparent inability to double-click) with another mouse.

Quick Time Player doesn't open WMV files with a double click.

After I download a WAV file and double click on the file; a message appears install "Quick Time Player must be installed to run this application;" however when I open Quick Time Player and select the file it plays with no issues. My question is why would I be getting this message after upgrading to Snow Leopard?

you do have QT player installed. you just need to associate wmv files with it. select a .wmv file in finder and enter command+i. in the popup go to the "open with" section set it to open with QT player and click "change all".

Help! Cannot open files with certain applications

I updated to OS Tiger from OSX some weeks ago. Before, I could run a program that labels files in a given folder with names given in an Excel file (csv format). This "csv sorter" usually asks for the csv file once I put in the folder with the files that should be labeled. In the dialog window that opened I could just go through my harddrive to my csv file and choose it. Now the csv files always appear in pale grey and I cannot click on them. Has anybody an idea why certain programs should not recognize certain filetypes any more in OS Tiger? It seems like I cannot access any file with the csv sorter any more, no matter which file type. Cannot open file with GRD file extension

I received a file with a GRD file extension, but get an error message saying the gradient file is bad or corrupted. I tried 3 separate files, same result.
According to the internet, Photoshoop is supposed to be able to open these files.
Does Photoshop open GRD files, is there a patch I need, or is there another program better suited to open these files?

I installed OS 3.0 on my first generation iPod Touch. On the Settings | General | Home, I selected Search. When I double click the home button, I get the "Dock Connector" dialog. Am I missing something?

RESOLUTION- First, enter "Settings" and select "General". Then, scroll down to "Home". Then, flip the switch that says "iPod Controls" (so it is off). Once your are done with that, select what you want a double-click of the Home button to be.
