• Is there an option to left click and open a bookmark in the same tab and right click to open bookmark in new tab?

I want to be able to open bookmarks in the same window without having to right click and then select open. I would like it to be like internet explorer where you have the option to open a bookmark in the same tab or new tab. I had downloaded an add on that solved the problem with a simple right click to open in new tab and left click to open in same tab. This makes things soooo much easier. Am I missing an add on or a configuration where I can solve this problem. Thanks for your time.

Very, very, very confusing!!!!! Exactly which is it that you want to do????? Left-click = same tab or left-click = new tab????
Your initial subject line:
Is there an option to <u>left click and open a bookmark in the same tab</u> and <u>right click to open bookmark in new tab</u>?
Your last post (3rd post):
Is there a way I can <u>left click and automatically open a bookmark in a new tab</u>...
...rather than having to left click and then select "open in new tab."
Right-click, <u>not left-click</u>, has the "Open in new tab option".
Easy answer is listed in my initial reply; left-click, same tab; middle-click, new tab!
What are your Extensions?
-List them.
-You obviously set up some extension with some kind of conflict.
To find out which Extension is causing the problem, <u>enable one-at-a-time</u>, restart Firefox for the change to take effect (File > Restart Firefox), test. When the problem re-appears, you know the extension causing the problem.

• Sometimes when I open a link in a new tab and then switch to the tab, the address bar clears and the website won't open.

Sometimes when I open a link in a new tab and then switch to the tab, the address bar clears and I'll have to re open the tab and hope that doesn't happen again. Sometimes this happens again and again. Most of the times if I just open the link in a new tab and don't switch to it, this won't happen. But as I switch too the tab, the text would disappear and the link wouldn't open.

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>Safe mode</u>:
* Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

• Opening multiple bookmarks in new tabs without switching to the new tabs and keeping the bookmark list open

With the bookmark list open I like to open a number of them at a time, the be problem is that each time I click on a bookmark it opens and switches to a new tab. I like to open around 5 tabs from the bookmark list, with FF I have to open the bookmark sekect the bookmark menu again open another and so on. It would be nice to be able to open the bookmarks straight from the list. That way the first one is loading while i open the others.

1. The Sidebar view of bookmarks will stay open until you decide to close it. <br />
{Ctrl + B}
2. Tools > Options > Tabs = un-check - When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately <br />
If you have a tab-related extension installed, it may have "taken over" that preference or modified it.
3. You can Middle-click a bookmark in the Sidebar to have it open in a new Tab; if you Middle-click a folder of bookmarks, all those bookmarks will open in new Tabs (you get a warning at ten tabs).

• I cant open new tabs and instead have to open new windows - vert frustrating

I cannot open new tabs in the firefox browser. (this has only just started happening. previously it worked fine)
I have tried a number of different ways and it doesnt open.
Internet explorer does not have the same problem

Disable the Ask Toolbar extension - it is known to cause a problem with opening new Tabs in Firefox 3.6.13.

• I use google search. When I click on a suggestion in the search results tab, I want it to open in a new tab and keep the search results in the original tab. How?

For example, when I enter the search term "armoires" and get a search results page/tab with suggestions such as Sears, JCPenney, or Amazon, I want to be able to click on Sears and have the Sears page open in a new page/tab. I want to be able to close the Sears tab and be able to use the search results tab again.

In order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps :
# In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
# Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
# Look to browser.search.openintab change its value to true.
With this configuration your search will be open in a new tab

• So, somehow Numbers saves my files as a new version and then won't open them until I update?  How is that possible?

I saved a spreadsheet a few days ago and now Numbers won't open it saying I need to update my version.  I only use the icon on my dock to access Numbers and I didn't update anything.  I also restarted my computer.  This happens around every 6 months and then goes away after several restarts.  I am tired of this game....Apple fix yourself and let me open old versions.....

Have you made sure you are trying to open the document with the latest version of Numbers?  You likely have both versions on your computer, the new version in your main Applications folder and the old version in a subfolder named iWork '09 or similar.
Any icons you had on your Dock before the upgrade still point to the old version, unless you took steps to change that.  Find the new version in Applications and drag it to the Dock so you have an icon pointing to the version you want.
The icons are similar, four bars for Numbers 3.x , three bars for Numbers 2.x.

• When opening a link in a new tab and then clicking to go work in an existing open tab, the new link just loads up my homepage instead of the intended link.

This has happened several times now - first in FF 7.0, now 8.0. It's as if Firefox is concentrating on the existing tab, drops the info it's loading and just loads the homepage.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

• I cannot log into my yahoo email account. It keeps asking for my password. This hasn't been a problem before. I can log into my email from IE. Thanks, Paula

Everytime I try to log onto my email, it keeps looping back to the password entry page

• Why can't I get a new tab to open when I click on new tab?

I have tried to click on a new tab and it won't open.
I have tried to press ctrl-T and a new tab won't open.
I have gone to File New Tab and it still will not open.
And nothing seems to be turned off anywhere that I can see on the surface.
A new tab will only come up if a link clicks to another site or if I move a new window into firefox.

That can a problem with the Ask<i></i>.com toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)

• "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" option has no effect on command+clicking on links.

Whether this option is ticked or un-ticked, command+clicking a link will open the link in a new tab and immediately switch to it.
Is it possible to change this behavior so that command+clicking on a link will open the link in a new tab in the background?

Did you try to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting?
Does holding down the Shift key in addition (i.e. Command + Shift and a left-click) has any effect?

• New tab setting keeps resetting to Google, how to make it stay empty?

I have searched for a way to make my new tabs, which currently open to Google, open as empty instead. I found the way described on this site, which is to go in about:config and change the URL of browser.newtab.url to about:blank. Then, I closed Firefox, made sure it was fully closed in Task Manager, and then restarted it. I then tried to open a new tab, and it still automatically opened Google on the new tab. When I rechecked the URL of browser.newtab.url, it was back to having a value of chrome://quick_start/content/index.html.
I don't know whether this makes any difference or not, but I had Chrome open throughout this entire process. Chrome, however, is not my default browser.

This is likely caused by one of the installed extensions and quick_start in the chrome URL should tell which extension in this case.
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
