Cannot open hyperlinks in excel

I created hyperlinks to files in other folders on my computer, then later added some more. When I tried to open the new ones I received an error message, then I tried opening the old ones and received error message for those as well.  What is the
possible reason and how can I solve it?

Hi,
Would you please provide us the exact text of the error message you got?
Meanwhile, please check if the two KB article below helps:

    Cannot open Office 2013 Excel, Word, PPT Files on Network Share
    I am having a problem opening any Office 2013 file when it is located on a network drive. I immediately get the error:
    "Microsoft Excel cannot open or save any more documents because there is not enough available memory or disk space.
    . To make more memory available, close workbooks or programs you no longer need.
    . To free disk space, delete files you no longer need from the disk you are saving to."
    It only occurs when I try to access the file when it is stored on a network share. I cannot open any word, excel or PPT files located on my file shares.
    I am on Windows 8 (pro), part of a local domain based on Server 2003, and have administrator rights to the domain and the file share where the Excel file resides (and Word files -same problem). If I copy the file locally, I can either open
    it directly, or right-click, go to Properties and 'un-block' the file and then open it. But it is impractical to keep doing this, as I edit different files from the directory tree all day.
    I have bing'd and google'd this extensively, and the only answers I come up with do not work, such as going into the DCOM config system and changing the user from interactive to launching user, or vice versa, or even using a specific user - mine
    with the password. Since the product is so young there aren't a lot of posts on this, and nothing has improved the situation.
    Can you add any insight to this? I really want to use Office 2013, but this is such an obstacle I'm going to have to downgrade if this problem cannot be resolved. Thank you very much for any help you can offer.
    Evan

    Dear Evan,
    If DCOM config solution did not work, I'd suggest narrow down the problem by trying to access another network share on another server, try to open an Office file there, do we still have the error? It could help us determine if the issue is on the client
    machine or the server side.

  • Cannot open hyperlinks

    After upgrading to Lion, I cannot open hyperlinks in Mac Mail.  I appreciate any suggestions.

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    As Guest, test. Same problem(s)?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
    Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
    Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
    Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on some Macs.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
    After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.) Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Cannot open query in Excel (BEX analyzer)

    Hello Experts,
    Issue: Cannot open the BEX report in Excel but can open the same report on IE.
    1) I am trying to open a BEX report "ReportA" in Excel (BeX Analyzer).
    2) As soon as the report opens it shows me a message "Do you want to open the 3.X workbook for upgrade"
    3) I click on "OK"
    4) then i get a message window listing a lot of warnings liike " Access to project denied"  "creation of items failed"
    5) i click on "OK"
    6) Now, variable entry screen appears
    7) i enter values and click on "OK" the report does not show any data.
    Now, the same report "reportA" when i open it in Internet Explorer, it displays data. What can be reason for this problem in BEX analyzer ?
    Please comment.

    Hi Suraj,
    If you want to execue your query, you can use the bex analyzer.
    If you are opening the query from query designer 3.x query in 7.0 fronend, it will get upgraded and then cannot be reveted.
    In your case this automatic migration might be havng some issues, owing to complexities.
    Please recheck.

  • Opening Hyperlinks inside Excel WebAccess webpart in the Same Window

    I was trying to access Excel Web parts hyperlink like below, but this solution is not working for me.
    $(document).ready(function() {
    $(".ewr-sheetcontainer a").each(function(){
    $(this).attr("onclick","openLink(this)");
    function openLink(Atagproperties)
    Atagproperties.target = "_self";
    Problem is .ewr-sheetcontainer has role="Presentation" atttribute,
    which says it will delete the contents from accessible tree.
    Is this the reason it is not working for me? or Am I missing anything?
    Appreciate your help on this. Thanks, Maddy

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to set the hyperlink in Excel Access Web Part opening in the same window.
    As the excel access web part is dynamic loading after the page load, so when the page has loaded, the excel web part element has not been loaded completely.
    I suggest you can use setInterval method to run function circularly until the excel access web part has loaded in the page.
    Here is a code snippet for your reference:
    <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var $a;
    var interval;
    $(document).ready(function(){
    interval = setInterval(ready, 1000);
    function ready()
    $a = $('div.cv-nwl a');
    if($a.html()!=null)
    $a.attr('target','_self');
    clearInterval(interval);
    </script>
    Thanks

  • Cannot open hyperlink from an email in Outlook

    Until today I was able to open all hyperlinks from emails in Outlook. Now I cannot.

    Open your computers control panel to the Default Program page.
    Win 7; Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs
    Set Firefox as default Internet Browser.
    Some programs have their own setting option as to the browser.

  • Mail cannot open hyperlink of file located in windows server 2003

    My macbook air has access to shared directory located in a windows server 2003 machine via smb mount. However, when I get an email containing a hyperlink of a file located in the shared directory, mail cannot open the link. Any ideas?

    You might read the EULA and confirm the issue I have mentioned. I might not be correct in my estimate, but just gave a sounds like opinion. If it is a violation, then removing it is wise. Typically, Acrobat must be installed on each individual machine. There are multiple license options and server options, but you would need to contact Adobe for more information on those areas. Hope you can get them to talk to you in such a case.

  • Outlook 2013 cannot open hyperlinks or attachments

    I have Windows 7 64bit and Office 2013 32bit. For several weeks I have been unable to open attached files, although I could preview attached image files. Since the latest update (Jan 2014) I am
    unable to open hyperlinks either. Also since the latest update I get the message "Something unexpected went wrong with this URL: http:....... Access is denied". Also since
    the latest update I get messages regarding my Add-Ins every time I open Outlook:
    I have tried opening Outlook as administrator and clicking Trust all..., I have reset IE11 completely, I have run the FixIt program (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310049)
    without success. I would greatly appreciate a solution to these problems.

    Hi,
    If we open Outlook in safe mode, can you still reproduce these problems? To start Outlook in safe mode, press Windows key + R, type
    outlook.exe /safe in the Run dialog and press Enter.
    For the hyperlink issue, if we copy the hyperlink to your IE, does it open properly?
    Do you installed other browser on your computer? If so, please try to set IE as your default browser to test the issue again.
    For the attachment issue, did you get any error message when it fails to open? If we save the attachment to local and then open it, will it open properly?
    In addition, please try to clear the Outlook secure temporary folder to check the result. See:
    http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/securetemp-files-folder/
    If you installed any security programs, please also try to temporarily turn off them to test the issue again.
    Please let me know the result.

  • Cannot open hyperlinks from Microsoft Office programs

    I have several hyperlinks saved in Excel and Word. When I click on them with Internet Explorer set as my default, they open. When I click on them with Firefox set as my default nothing happens.

    Hello,
    '''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
    ''(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)''
    If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item:<br>
    [[Image:FirefoxSafeMode|width=520]]<br><br>
    If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
    ''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
    [[Image:Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win]]
    '''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
    ''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
    When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
    Thank you.

  • Cannot open Hyperlinks in PDF Forms

    We use Acrobat Pro 10 / LiveCycle Desginer to create our fill-able forms to then publish on our website.  Our users can click the form on our webpage, the PDF opens in Chrome just fine and they can fill in the fields.  But when a user trys to click on the Hyperlinks, the Hand doesn't turn into the Finger allowing you to click the link and go to the webpage.  When looking at the properties of this PDF, I can see there are restrictions.  I only want to allow my customers to click on the Hyperlinks.  Keep in mind, they are using Chrome with default Chrome PDF Viewer.  Also, many of our internal users do not use Adobe to view/edit PDFs.  Their default PDF viewer if eCopy or PowerPDF, so when they open this form in those applications, the Hyperlinks do not work either.  The hyperlinks only work if I open with Adobe.
    Also, I saw a security restriction in the document properties where is says can only be opened with Acrobat.
    Is there way to modify this?

    Screenshot is pasted below.  Let me know if you can’t see it.
    Also, I have attached some other screenshots displaying my problem.
    1.       Can’t open PDF in Chrome PDF Viewer
    2.       Doesn’t open in eCopy
    3.       Does open in PowerPDF, but Hyperlinks don’t work.

  • CANNOT OPEN HYPERLINK IN ADOBE DOC ORIGINALLY CREATED IN WORD

    Our office creates documents in WORD, which includes a website link. These documents are then converted to pdf. Until recently, we had no problem clicking on the link in the Adobe document to access the website. All of a sudden, however, the link in the pdf file doesn't work (doesn't go anywhere; even if you right click and ask it to open the link). It works fine in the word document. I've noticed that the hand symbol in the pdf file now has a "W" symbol over it and am guessing that this is telling me what the problem is, but have no idea how to fix it.
    Thanks for any help you can offer.

    I had a similar problem. I could not open a word hyperlink which pointed to a pdf file on a network share. To cut a long story short I uninstalled acrobat professional (writer) Then opened the hyperlink successfully by manually pointing it to acrobat READER. You can then re install adobe acrobat pro. I did have acrobat reader as the default program to open .pdf files but for some reason im unsure of it was still using the wrong software. Hope this helps any poor souls having the same problem i had.

  • Windows 7 and Microsoft Office installed a series of updates and now I cannot open hyperlinks in emails.

    After my system rebooted and I opened my emails in outlook, when I clicked on a hyperlink, it brought me no where. I did not get an error message. I went back in and set Firefox to my default program with all extensions and protocols for Firefox. However, when I click a hyperlink in an email, it still does not open in Firefox. What little trick has IE and Microsoft done now to change my system. Until I updated some files today, hyperlinks in emails opened in Firefox. Please Help. I hate IE!

    Windows does not know that it should start Firefox to open those links.
    Try this first. Start IE (yes I know) and set it as the default browser. After
    close IE. Wait a few moments, then start Firefox. Then set FF as your default.
