Cannot open image files in PS CS3 from Bridge CS3
Cannot open file in Photoshop CS3 (10.0.1) from Bridge CS3 (2.1.1.9)
Tried choosing File>Open and double clicking the image thumbnail
Error dialogue box pops up and reads:
Windows cannot find\C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Photoshop.exe
I wouldnt expect CS\Photoshop.exe to be found because CS3\Photoshop.exe upgrade is installed.
Will downloading the Adobe Photoshop update for Adobe Photshop CS3 (11/15/2007) or Adobe Bridge CS3 update for Adobe Bridge CS3 (11/15/2007) be my best bet for correcting this problem?
Thanks to Freeagent for pointing me to the solution.
For fellow Windows XP user's:
Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types
It would have been nice if the Install Wizard of PS would have handled this automatically or had an advisory instruction to manually associate image files in Windows XP.
I thought all along this was a Photoshop CS3 / Bridge CS3 problem since Bridge was calling for both the image file and Photoshop.
If Freeagent has anyone's ear at Adobe please pass this on.
Thanks Again

Cannot open JPEG files in Camera Raw from Bridge
I am using Adobe Web Premium CS3 with Windows Vista. In Bridge under File, the "Open in Camera Raw" is grayed out. In preferences, I checked "Double-Click Edits Camera Raw Settings in Bridge" and when I double-click a JPEG file it still opens in Photoshop CS3. I've downloaded and installed the latest Camera Raw plugin (Camera Raw.8bi dated 3/27/2008) into Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats. Nothing seems to work.
I am experiencing the same problem under XP SP2. It is intermittent. Everything will be OK and then the next time I open the folder Camera Raw is not available.
I just did a little experiment. I created a sub-folder in the folder that would not produce Cam Raw and moved a jpg to it. When I right clicked it in the new folder, Cam Raw was there as it should be. I moved the jpg back to the original folder that had the problem and Cam Raw opened in that folder too, but not on any of the other jpg's in that folder.
I moved all of the jpg's to this sub folder and back and Cam Raw was there on all the jpg's.
There is without a doubt some real flakies in Bridge. I also have workspaces saved that suddenly are not saved any more.
Hope this helps out your problem Donald. Oh, I am using web premium CS3 also -

Cannot open some jpgs in Camera Raw from Bridge
A couple of days ago, I rated select images from a set as 5 stars, and now I cannot open these in Camera Raw from Bridge. I get no error messages or anything, there is just simply no option to Open in Camera Raw from the File menu, or the right-click menu. The images I did not rate still open in Camera Raw, and not all of the starred ones have this problem - just 20 or so consecutive images. This makes no sense to me, as all the images as far as I can tell should operate the same way. They are all jpgs. I can find workarounds to this like working in Photoshop (all the images still open in Photoshop) or possibly just reloading the photos from the memory card, but I'd like to know why this would even be a problem to avoid it in the future. I'm using CC on Win 8.
I should add that JPGs edited with ACR usually need to be writable for ACR to be able to store the adjustment-settings inside themselves. RAW files typically use an XMP sidecar to store settings, but JPGs typically don't.
If the files weren't read/write then ACR would have no way to store the adjustments in them and so is smart enough to not make them available for editing.
The other hint is that if you copy the files to your desktop--where the permissions are likely to be more friendly, they work.
To check the permissions, right-click on one of the files in Explorer, select Properties from the context menu and look at the Security tab. Look at the various user-groups, like Users, Authenticated Users, Administrators, etc, and see what access each has to one oft he problem files, and then to one of the files that works ok.
You might also check the Effective Rights of a particular user to a particular file by clicking on the Advanced button in the Security tab. Here is an example where I show only Read + Read & Execute access to an NEF for general users, but when I check my own logged in User (steve) I have Full Control which includes all the other access privileges, and this is either because I'm in the Administrators group or I am the owner, I'm not sure. It is possible that Bridge or Photoshop is running in a user context other than your logged in user, or it's possible that another user accessed the files and changed the permissions to them. -
How can I open psd files into Potoshop CC from bridge
PSD files will not open into Photoshop CC from Bridge CC. I get this error message...“Windows cannot find, C:\program files\adobe\adobe photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\photoshop.exe.” I can open jpeg, tiff and raw. I'm using Windows 7. I do not have CS5 on my computer. Help...
You must have uninstalled CS5 after you installed CC. Your registry is fouled up. You can either uninstall CC, run the Script Cleaner and reinstall, or fix registry as below.
After looking at a new user's registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER and comparing it to the one on the original user, I found a registry value which was not changed, and should have been.
I found a key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\op en\command
This key was set to the path for Photoshop CS6 when it should have been set to Photoshop CC.
In other words, in my case, it was set to:
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Photoshop.exe" "%1"
When I changed the CS6 to a CC, in other words, so the whole key reads:
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\Photoshop.exe" "%1" -
Cannot open CR2 files in Elements 8 or Bridge
Hi, I hope someone can help me! I shoot in RAW, and have always edited my pictures in Camera RAW via Elements 8. I recently upgraded my old Dell to a new Mac, and now I'm having trouble. I cannot seem to open the RAW files in Elements, this is what I get when I try to open a file with Camera Raw (I know it says Photoshop Raw, but I do have Camera Raw selected):
When I try to open a RAW file in Adobe Bridge, it's not even an option, it's grayed out. BUT, it will let me open jpegs in Camera Raw in Adobe Bridge! So confusing. So far I have tried updating the Camera Raw plug in. I followed the directions exactly, but no dice. When I look at the "about plug in" section on PSE, it shows that it is the updated version, 6.2.0.29. But when I look at a jpeg in Camera Raw through Adobe Bridge, it says Camera Raw version 5.0.
Any ideas? I have a camera full of RAW files waiting to be edited and I'm so frustrated. Any help will be much appreciated! You can update ACR in PSE i farther than you can update ACR in bridge (adobe cut bridge off as soon as CS 5 came out, but PSE 8 got a few more updates).
You don't mention the camera model.Photoshop raw and camera raw are two different things. How are you opening these files? You do know that you don't need to mess with the format section of the open window? Just select the file you want and it will set itself to the right format for you, so ignore that. -
I cannot open my file in Photoshop CS4 from camera raw... it wont go.. please help me... judi dunn

Cannot open DNG files in CS3 or Lightroom?
When I convert RAW files from my new DMC-LF1 camera to DNG, I can not open the files in CS3 or Lightroom. Isn't DNG supposed to be a universal format?
I do not have problems with converted DNG files from my Nikon cameras.I use the free Adobe DNG Converter vers. 8.1 der supporter mit Panasonic DMC-LF1. I just downloaded this version and now am able to open my Panasonic DNGs in Lightroom, but not in CS3. There are no problems opening my Nikon DNGs in both programs.
This certainly leaves the problem about DNG as a universal format lasting far out in the future, doesn't matter what camera the file came from.

As far as I know DNG is supposed to be standardised format. What are you using to convert the RAW files to DNG?

I cannot open a file from lightroom into CC2014 unless I open it as a smart object. CC opens, just will not display my image. i am given an error code when I save an image, and can only save to my desktop or other locations, not automatically back into my lightroom.
I am using LR5 latest update, as well as CC2014
Below is the error message:
Line: 1 -> photoshop.notifyLightroomDocClosed ('lightroom-2.0', 'B53AFA39-A49B-4709-A9BD-0B6467C175C3', 'Macintosh HD:Users:BPexposures:Desktop:_DSC5962 as Smart Object-1.psd');I was also having this issue, and I did some more searching and found this answer in the Adobe forums: Re: Photos from Lightroom 5 to Photoshop CC (2014) and back.... The issue appears to be caused by having not updated Lightroom to the latest version prior to having CC2014 installed (wow that's stupid). The trick seems to be to uninstall Photoshop CC2014 and to then reinstall it after having upgraded to Lightroom 5.5.

I went through the steps of downlaoding the plugin and replacing it, but I still cannot open the files. Any other suggestions? I am trying to open a Canon CR2 file.
If your Cannon is a recent model you will need to download ACR 8.7 with the DNG converter and create DNG files for your Cannon CR2 Raw file for CS3 can only use ACR version 4.6. ACR support for Cannon cameras

CS3 Extended having problems opening image files.
I had a CS3 Master Collection from The Art Institute forced us to buy that I had never opened because Photoshop 7 worked fine & I didn't need all the other crap that came with CS3 in the Master Collection. So I had been using Photoshop 7 for years & years, but when I got a new computer, Photoshop 7 didn't work anymore. If you can't tell me what's wrong with CS3, maybe you can tell me how to get my old 7 working on 64 bit windows?
Getting this stuff out of the way:
*Brand new computer, Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit.
*Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection, installed about 3 months ago.
*CS3 Extended was working just fine for 1 or 2 months with no problems.
*Problem: CS3 stops responding or hangs exsessively when opening image files.
*Already tried alt/ctrl/shift reset.
*Already deleted all the printers.
*Already tried the tilde in front of the TWAIN.
*This Master Suite takes like 3 hours to install, so reinstalling is something I'd rather avoid.
*Yes, it's updated.
*Yes, the licence was renewed.

Yeah, I reinstalled. Can't believe I had to go through 4 discs to reinstall one program for the suite.
Reinstalling windows is overkill when" error check," & "SFC /scannow," & "boot repair" are sufficient.
Found out that it WILL work if you don't have a browser window open, but I like to listen to stuff on the net when using photoshop. I dunno why the browser makes photoshop refuse to open or create new images, but it would be helpful to know.
Also, despite not having a printer, the error log seems to indicate that it's part of the problem.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I did defrag after reinstalling. I know someone will bring it up if I don't. -

DNG Converter.
Read all about it here
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.displayTab2.html
It's a way of opening the Raw files from your OM-D EM-1 without having to upgrade to LR5.
In short, you open the Raw files from the camera uing the DNG converter, convert the Raw files to DNGs. Then you edit the DNG files in LR4.4.

"Cannot open resource file" message on Save in InDesign CS3
Hi there,
I'm running InDesign CS3 5.0.3 on a 2.4GHZ MacBook Pro with 2GB RAM and OS X 10.4.11.
I'm finding that when I have a document open and hit Save, I get the message "Cannot open resource file". If I quit and reopen my changes do appear to have been saved.
Googling around reveals little on this particular message, and I've tried what I've found (closing Scripting/Info windows) but it's still happening. There's also a suggestion of deleting the InDesign Saved Data file, but I can't find where that is. Is it a pre-CS3 thing?
Any ideas?
Cheers,
/stephenReposting because the "Forums have changed!" message popped up and obliterated my edit.
Basically, I am cross-posting from this thread:
Leox, "InDesign CS3 5.0.4 Changes to documents not being registered properly" #11, 17 Feb 2009 1:31 am
Because some of my users with that problem ALSO report that they get the "Cannot open resource file" prior to saving (which ends up with a crash and no saved document).
Thanks... -
I cannot open pdf files from one supplier when using Adobe Reader but I can using another Viewer
I cannot open pdf files from one supplier when using Adobe Reader but I can open it if using Google PDF viewer or another viewer. The Adobe reader gives the error "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired" when I try to open the file. The version of Adobe Reader is 10.1.7, however I have tried other versions and they all fail the same way. I have tested on a number of different PC's in different networks and all fail using Adobe Reader but work using alternate viewer. Also the PC's will open a PDF from any other source.
Newer Reader versions are more strict than older versions (and other PDF viewers). If certain minimum requirements are not met, Reader will tell you that the PDF is damaged. This can happen when a document was created with software that does not adhere to PDF standards, or when the file was damaged during a download or email transmission.
You should contact the creator of these PDFs. -

The problem is definitely between my safari and Adobe.
I can open documents in emails. But not something like this.
